Have to say I'm all for the jokes and have enjoyed some people's wisecracks about the youth signings, the lack of senior signings etc. Now clearly, as fans, we've all enjoyed the fact that the development of Arsenal's youth has enhanced the games and kept us excited about the possibility of continued promise from within the youth ranks. What's more, whether this is Wenger's last ever contract or not, it's hard to see him staying any longer than five years at the club and almost any club in that position would end up suffering the proverbial hangover in the first years of his absence. So fair play to the man for sticking to his guns on youth and doing what he can to provide the foundations for teams to come in those first few years, rather than just thinking short term with a view to bowing out on a high.

We appear to be entering another phase of success for a Wenger team. The first team squad is 2 or 3 players short of being able to compete at the very top of European football. Whilst we appear to have some extremely talented youngsters lining up for future first team football. I can easily see Wenger managing into his 70's, if he chooses to do so and the supporters remain with him. It's amazing to think that the youngsters weren't even born when Wenger joined the club! I can't recall the last time I was so excited going into the new season.

Agreed Robbie. I think we're one or two top quality players away from being favourites against Chelsea but as it stands we should get pretty close to them.

Wenger seems to be in good health and could go on for a few more years but I'll probably have a heart attack if I see him on the beach in budgy smugglers again.

Evening guys,

I know a few have been asking about some of our younger players such as Zelalem, Crowley and Beilik who are all it seems currently in South Africa playing in an U19 tournament.

Some of you may know of the site but if not you should check out arsenalyouth.wordpress.com which has some great info about all the promising young guns like Ben Sheaf and the young guy Malen we've just signed from Ajax.

It even has some stuff on "where are they now" for players that never quite made it.

Goes on about how the various players are developing or in some cases not and what they need to do.

It's worth a look. :-)

Is that Romanian guy we signed any good

I take it you mean, Vlad the Impaler, as someone called him last week or Dragomir as he likes to be known Steve.

It's like all the youngsters that come here, him Donyell Malen who we managed to get before he went to United and Ismael Bennacer who we apparently managed to get before City did are all described as great young talents.

I think we all know it's impossible to tell, although saying that Adelaide does look the biz already, bear in mind too they'll be starting behind the likes of Crowley and Zelalem so could be a while before we see them.

Yer true bennacer has not been announced yet is he definitely signed for us

Question - should the chief negotiator for the youth set up switch with the first team negotiator as they seem to be far more active and successful??

Seem to be more ruthless on contracts while also spending big money on signing on fees & contract worth....

Thoughts?

It's always same with us. We will have the best team in the leauge in 2025. Joking aside you can't knock the young ones we get. But like u say a ruthless approach in the snr team wouldn't go a miss

The current crop of young players, already in the first team squad and those coming through look to be our best for some time. These include the likes of Martinez, Bellerin, Chambers, Hayden, Akpom, Reinne-Adelaide, Fortune, Zelalem, Bielik, Gnabry, Toral, Iwobi, Willock, Miatland-Niles, Malen, Crowley, etc. I can see at least 6 of them making it.

Here's one for you guys..... How about a cheap punt on Balotelli as backup? Still think Wenger could get the best out of him

Hey Ed,
Have we or will we bid for reus?
48 million isn't too much considering the player who is a World Cup winner and is proven quality!.
Sanchez-Reus-Walcott
Man that front three can cause problems to anyone!.
With ozil behind them, who all can switch positions and run behind the defense.
That would be quite a dream!

When did he win the World Cup?

That front 3 has not got a lot of strength in it though to be fair a lot of pace mind you. You must play fifa 15 for pace abbuse lol

So, Szczesny has moved to Roma on loan at last.
I think it's a good move for him, they're a big club, they're as competitive as you can be v Juve in serie a, they're in the UCL and they'll give him a lot of time, as Morgan De Sanctis is getting on a bit now.

I think he's still got a lot of potential personally, he just needs to get his act together a little bit.
He's only 25 too, which for a keeper isn't that old.

All the best Wojiech!

Emi Martinez is the future gk. If Woj ever comes back it might be as a backup. Never rated the guy, he was just a better Almunia. Thank f*** we have Cech now.

Ezdee, I think I have a less harsh view of Sczzesny than you - I don't think he's completely pants but I'm glad someone has spoken about Emi Martinez. He had a number of first team appearances last season and he looked really impressive to me. With a good frame and still very young he could actually be the future, like you say.

There's only one Arsene Wenger, one........

I think all of us here can wish the best of luck for Diaby at Marseille, what a player he could of been if it wasn't for that tackle and the luck with injuries, surely would of been a key player for us in midfield to this day..
Hope he can stay fit and be a top player for Marseille. He was the missing piece of the puzzle when Vieira left in my opinion but can only look at it as what could of been.

Here here, it's such a shame like you say, sometimes a fresh start can do the world of good, I hope people start saying to us "what a bad move, letting Diaby go was!" Really hope he gets back on track and gives someone his best years, just a shame for him and us that he couldn't give them to Arsenal.

Completely agree with everything there. All the best for Diaby at Marseille; a ridiculously talented player, defensively and offensively. Apparently he's a great genuine guy too, it definitely is a case of what could have been.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2015 20:00:37
I wish him all the best, but I hope no one has cause to say letting him go was a bad move. Hopefully we do well without him and he does well without us and everyone's happy :)

{Ed025's Note - good sentiment that eden..

29 Jul 2015 09:22:07
Hi Eds

Stepping aside of all the paper talk and much covered, ongoing sagas with Benzema, Carvalho and a few others; are there any other players that haven't been mentioned in the press that you're aware Monsieur Wenger is very interested in?

I ask simply because of how the Ozil and to some extent Sanchez transfers went down - no-one really expected or knew anything about Ozil in the public...

Cheers, Gav

PS - you can trust us on here, we won't tell anyone ;-)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea which players have been mentioned in the press. Many clubs are still looking at bringing in players for next season, including Arsenal. The club have particular targets in mind and will not be drawn in to making irrational buys if the players they want are not available.}

29 Jul 2015 20:05:42
Would that still be the case as it gets to the end of the window and the main targets are unobtainable. Would we panicbuy or not buy ananyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - arsene does not panic buy eden, if he really wants a player then he will more than likely get him imo mate..

29 Jul 2015 20:21:50
Thainks ed, I like to hope you're right but every time I think that I think of welbeck....

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - for me danny was not a panic buy eden but a good back up at a reasonable price mate..

29 Jul 2015 20:42:31
Will will have to agree to disagree :) for a similar price you could get austin, who imo would do a better job in girouds absence

Real Madrid put up a photo of players on stage during their Shanghai tour, Benzema being one of them.

Hopes raised and dashed in less than 24 hours!

Stupid social media, using desire to corrupt my rationality...
