#Gunner254 mate, Wenger didn't keep the club in suspense. The club knew he was staying, it's only the fans who didn't know.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2017 21:03:09
He wasn't too sure on staying but he honoured his contract. I believe he wanted to judge himself based on the season's result. He honoured his contract and he didn't do a Sanchez. I think he wanted to leave if he won nothing at the end so he had a double mind, to leave or to stay based on results. Even though at times it seemed he has lost his magic, there was no doubt he wanted to die trying rather than leave. He loves this club truly.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 09:44:17
all came down to the fa cup win I feel. lost that then gazidis holds all the cards.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 19:32:08
So Wenger says players have to be professional and not put their employers in suspense in whether they want a new contract or not.
The old geezer forgets how long he kept the club in uncertainty. Hypocrisy!

Believable0 Unbelievable4

29 Jul 2017 19:45:36
Well he is getting on and the old memory goes you know.

Agree2 Disagree2

29 Jul 2017 20:22:46
Pretty sure Wenger respected his contract

Not sure Alex is - Wenger is asking for the same

Why dig at Wenger?

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 23:40:54
I don't get all this have a go at Sanchez for having the ambtion to challenge for top prizes! He's proved his hunger while the club and the rest of the squad hasn't matched it so we part company, why complicate it . Arsenal and Arsene don't think success is measured strictly by being competitive in the top competitions Alexis does, we are not compatible at this moment in time and Sanchez at 28 only has now as in 10 or 20 years hopefully the club will still be going strong in the football world but Sanchez will be well retired by then.

Agree1 Disagree3

30 Jul 2017 06:05:43
62,

If Sanchez wants to go somewhere and win stuff as he sees no future here then I have no problem with that but don't be yet another utter tool about it.

At this moment in time a guy that is supposedly made of granite has been behaving like a wet blanket.

That is just pathetic. Simply say you want to go and go.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 08:39:08
The bloke wants out and we don't want him to go so he is trying to force the issue, is his behaviour right? No of course it's not but people don't always show then self's in their best light when they get desperate.
Personally I think the club should accept he doesn't want to be here and accept his reasons for that, Sanchez has stood out head shoulders Knees and toes above any one else in giving everything he has to make us competitive and it's got him no where so he's given up.
We can all fault his methods but not his reasons, desperate and unhappy people don't always go about things in a way they are proud of later in life they make mistakes through their desperation.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 09:03:25
He wants to go or not, he signed a contract and he should respect his contract as the club do. We don't say oh you dropped on form so we can't pay you the same.
If he really want to leave put in the transfer request and F off. End of really.
But all the story we have been reading might be bullshite.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 10:09:32
I agree with the bit he should put in a transfer request Moe 100%, I'm sure there are financial reasons he doesn't want to do that but he should rise above those and back his own reasons above money.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 10:50:58
well 62 mate, he can't have it all his way I guess. For me every player is replaceable. Look at juve they sold bogba who was amazing for them, and then this year they sold the trouble maker in the dressing room bonucci so the team won't have any distractions or bad vibe.
Yes he carried us last year but he is not arsenal.
I know our argument is will we replace him but I have the feeling we already have the replacement awaiting.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 11:25:10
I think it's a case of simply accepting Sanchez has joined other good players who have simply given up on Arsenal in the past and rather than being bitter about it accepting our part in their wanting to be elsewhere and making sure we change ourselves to stop it happening again and again in the future.
No one can change the past but the future is all to play for.

31 Jul 2017 07:20:07
Stoners post is on the money. Well said mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 19:16:57
Kolasinac looked strong in defence and great in attack. Solid performance, best signing we have made going by his display so far.
Nelson is a gem, excited to see him given a few chances to shine.
I found Xhaka to be disappointing.
I still feel that we have missing component to make us a great team.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2017 20:37:08
Yeah I would still like that commanding powerful Central Midfielder that would give a more complete look, not 100% sure that Xhaka and Ramsey against the very best teams is good enough to win the midfield battle really. Nelson looks a talent for sure I would give him squad number tbh and unleash in a few of the cups games for sure to build his experience. Kolasanic looks to be the bargain of the Summer looks like he has settled so quick he looks like he is veteran player for us already.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 05:22:31
Had no idea Xhaka was playing until around 20 minutes in, he was completely bypassed. Still though, just pre-season and everyone has off days. He ended last season very strongly.

I was impressed with Coquelin, then Elneny when he came on. Both are excellent squad players for us and I think they'll get a lot of time in Europa and the domestic cups.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:32:58
Great game, great team performance. Nelson, SK amongst others were outstanding even Chambers looked good. Need to resolve the Alexis problem and we might, whisper it quietly mind, be a great team in the coming season ☺️.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

29 Jul 2017 18:44:47
SK looks to be the bargain transfer of the summer on a free, very impressive a hand in a few of goals and willing and direct runner down that left flank. Nelson was great aswell skillful but also had the end product to go with it put in some dangerous crosses. Worthy of 1st team squad number on that performance would definitely be a dangerous sub to bring on against tired legs.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:46:45

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 21:22:30
well, every great player began somewhere. look at Mbappe, from unknown to one of the most talked about players. let's give him a shot and hopefully he will come good. If Nelson were to be in another team playing this way, many would have started shouting "sign him! "

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 21:40:03
What I saw fills me with confidence, the opposition was not Premier league and you can only beat the team in front of you.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 22:04:10
Win lose or draw, friendlies tell you absolutely nothing. Judging performance is not worth even trying. The first game of the season is when performance judging starts. It's nice to see the players but they are just getting fit. Don't vilify them if they are poor and don't over hype if they are brilliant. But after all that, it is nicer to see a win than a loss.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:24:19
How good is lemar has anyone watched him play? I'd be content with mahrez.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

30 Jul 2017 05:25:24
Best player on the pitch in that France 3 2 England friendly. Trod all over Spurs in the CL. Big part of why Monaco were able to be so deadly in the knockout rounds. Not just goals and assists, makes great key passes to start attacks and spread the play. He's fantastic.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:28:15
Not because he scored but I strongly believe Walcott will have a great season. He has certainly matured, guess it came in a bit late for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2017 05:27:51
Theo always looks like this for a chunk of the season, before either getting injured of tailing off badly. Still think he's a valuable member of the team - very clinical - but he's at about the level he's going to be for the rest of his career IMO. Great squad option, bad choice to rely on for starting 40 games a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:20:33
If Sanchez goes on strike which I doubt as it's a World Cup year, can we stop his wages while he's on strike thank you.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Jul 2017 18:59:05
Of course, why would you pay someone who is in strike, put the money towards suing him for breach of contract. I think it is reasonable suggest we could sue him for what he is worth today. He is decreasing he said above value by being on strike for breach which is breach of contract so therefore we should be able to sue him for what we would have got for him had we decided to sell. Will set a president and people will start to honour their contracts. We live in hope anyway.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jul 2017 18:16:13
Good work out some sloppy defending in first half but control it more after the break. The Rhys Nelson played really well and was dangerous on the ball definitely deserves a first team squad number on that performance.

Kolansic was also very impressive down that left flank very involved in a few of the goals. Looks to be a complete bargain on a free when compared to what others have spent on fullbacks.

Maitland-Miles did ok but did give a ball away fro the Benfica 2nd goal, I don't think RCB is his position really.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2017 18:49:06

That Reiss Nelson is one heck of a player, has such confidence in his own ability. He should be in the first team this year 100%, have him and the ox compete over that spot will give us great options through out the season πŸ‘πŸ».

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2017 18:07:17
Don't tell the ox that 😬.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:19:47
If he has a good charity shield game then let's see what he can do in the premier league?
I see no reason not to try him as long as he continues to impress each time he takes a step up.
Rashford Rooney Owen all delivered at a very early age simply because they were good enough and proved it time and again.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:24:20
glad he is seizing the opportunity. Watch out Bellerin!

Sanogo three years ago, Gnabry two years ago, Rene Adelaide last year, reis Nelson this. The common denominator is.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 20:44:29
yeah I know what you saying Steve R, But this Nelson chap has something more about him I sense, not only did he show good ball skill but more importantly showed good decision making for the most part and had some good end product with some dangerous crosses. Yes it still pre season so we should not go over the top with him like he is the next overmars or something, but I think he deserves his squad number and given a go in few of the UEFA and league cup games for sure. As a tired fullback I certainly would not be too keen facing him coming on fresh in the last 20Mins.

29 Jul 2017 16:53:04

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 17:32:51
That's harsh man lol. Don't forget he saved us some points last season. He does score important goals and if we play to his strengths, he will deliver though he isn't the "one shot, one goal" type of striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:08:02
Yep willy not that guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:20:50
Yeah really impressive Nelson direct and dangerous some good crossing aswell. Kolasanic also very good best two players on the pitch really. Reckon Kolasanic has more or less nailed down that starting LWB position now tbh. Nelson is worthy of a first team squad number in my book especially if Ox leaves.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 18:27:42
Yeah he is no world beater but he is very under-appreciated in my book, he offers something the other strikers don't a real physical presence and an arieal threat in the box, his link up play is usually tidy aswell. I would rather we keep him but can understand if he did deceide to move as needs strong garauntees of first team football with World Cup next year.

There is a lot of fake news about, it seems like the new trend. We don't really know the truth, we know the fake truth though. Hello my Arsenal family. Haven’t posted in a while and I will be honest, I was (or am) still reeling from the Wenger extension announcement, but hey ho, what can we do. I promise you I am not a pessimist (lol… Steve can testify to that) but I am very realistic. So far I am not really excited with the new team, I feel like we are more or less the same from last season. Welcome to Lacazette, I really wish him all the best, also same for Kolasnic. Now for my realisms (not pessimisms I swear) :
Sanchez β€œmight leave”. I would be disappointed if that happened. I would rather we keep him ONLY if he is in a positive mind frame and wants to play for us. If not, then sadly we have to let him go to the biggest bidder

Xhaka is still commanding a jersey in our squad. He did finish the season on a good note but I still feel he is too much of a hothead and he will miss plenty of matches due to suspension

The Ox’s future is uncertain. Good English talent that might leave us. Good player, hope he stays with us, remains fit and gets game time. All this talk of sticking him in midfield is bollocks if you ask me (no offence intended to anyone) . The best performances by him have always been when he is charging down the right wing. He has the pace and the skill to operate there

Talk of Ospina leaving. If I could have it my way, I would keep him as our first choice. Never put a foot wrong in my opinion, better shot stopper than Cech (besides being considerably shorter) . Also, Cech is 35, Ospina is 29 and we can get a whole lot more years out of him than Cech. Kept sheet through the FA cup which we actually won (our only positive)
I think we need one or more quality signings to really fortify us. A proper DMF (not improvised CB who used to play DMF when he was nine) and a good proper winger

As I said above, I am not confident, but I will fully back the team once the season starts. When Wenger got an extension, I pretty much wrote off the next two seasons. I really hope I was wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Jul 2017 11:22:26
I look at this way Rue, few of us really expect us to mount any kind of title challenge and we all know top 4 will be more difficult than ever and Arsene staying means things aren't highly likely to be much different to the last 10 or more but what is different is the acceptance the of the reality of the situation from most fans.
" it is what it is : slogan certainly seems to have replaced the " time for change " of recent years and the whole I think everyone needed a break from all the anger and frustration.

29 Jul 2017 11:58:15

Hi all,
Does anyone think that its our game plan that's outdated . ?
We base our game on possession and its just not working.
Maybe it only works when you have 10 or 12 world class players in your squad, who work just as hard without the ball as they do with the ball?
Everyone has us sussed out, Its too easy to play counter attacking football against
and its not working.
Every time we get the ball in defence, we over pass it, taking 5 or 6 passes before we get to the oppositions box and then have to deal with 11 defenders, everything is too slow and indirect.
When I remember our previous successful sides under Wenger, we were lightening fast on the counter attack and it brought us many trophies.

I really do think its time to change this total possession b/ s, and all of the plaudits it gets from the football commentators, because, its not working and, I hate to say this, its boring to watch . !

I much prefer to see fast, counter attacking football played at breakneck speed ( and producing results )

I'd be interested in what you guys think . ?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2017 11:37:03
I think the Base of the squad has been around a long time and a lot people have collectively become set in their ways and change is hard to implement across the board after so long of doing so many things in the same way.
A completely fresh start will be needed at some stage in the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2017 11:52:22
I've said it before, the game has moved on and we are going backwards. The managers now are all younger and have new ideas that we don't.

He is their player 16 mate and they don't want to sell so it's up to us to change their minds, they don't need to compromise because they are happy as they are.
If your house is valued at 200,000 and you are very happy living there why would you accept a bid of 200,000 to make a move you didn't want to make in the first place?
300,000 might make you reconsider but it's highly unlikely 150,000 would:-)

Short and sweet.
Pet hates are players holding clubs to ransom. Ok so you want to leave, fine! But don't insult 1000's of fans intelligence by making out you are too ill to train. Because in my opinion I'm beginning to forget how well he has played for us and now I seem to be concentrating on all the negativity surrounding Alexis in these recent weeks.
While Arsenal are concentrating on keeping a player that so obviously doesn't want to be there is beyond me. In the meantime we are losing out on finding a replacement and time is ticking on. It's become quite obvious that footballers contracts are not worth the paper they are written on. If a player has had enough he heads straight for the sick bay until he gets his own way.
Again! It looks like we have failed miserably in this window. Even though it's not closed yet it's become just another Arsenal saga.
You reap what you sow and we have sowed plenty of bad seeds in the last few seasons to end up in this situation we are in now.

I'd understand you complaining AFTER the transfer window shuts because then, you'd actually have something to complain about if we haven't bought in any players.
