If you were Wenger and for some inexplicable reason, you were in a position to bring back ONLY TWO of the following in the January window to help us in our title push, who would you bring in?

Fabregas
Van Persie
Song
Nasri
Cole
Adebayor
Gallas
Kolo Toure
Sagna

I have intentionally picked players who left the club controversially somehow. Thinking hats on guys, let's hear your views

{Ed025's Note - if anyone picks someone outside the top 2 i would be surprised rue..

Sorry Ed but I'd choose Fab and Song as no problem with either and think they would both make us much stronger.
The dutch bloke would certainly get us goals but I don't think that's our main problem where both Song and Fab would help us stop conceding and create for others

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair play G62, for me even though i resent RVP for being a deserter and a horror bag..i still think he can be world class..

Cesc and Song for me with RVP a close third but more happy with front line than I am midfield at the moment hence RVP third plus he is quote old now and only two seasons left in him.

I think Ade and Nasri as I think they are true gentlemen that would add quality and honour to our great club. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they were certainly loyal servants SY, and are not money minded at all..so good picks mate.. :)

Definitely Fab and Song as they are the 2 players we need (especially Song).

Also, its hard to watch them rip up the Prem in anything other than an Arsenal shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take sagna first as obviously we are short of a right back and when needed i'd rather have him than Monreal at CB.
Then I'd take song to strengthen the midfield defensively.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Cesc all day long.
And if Song were to just sit and hold the way he is now I'd take him too.
In my opinion if that were to have happened at the beginning of the season we'd be neck and neck with the Chavs

Hey guys, Jenny and Eds (Please post in banter)

Just wanted to drop a personal message to inform all the usual suspects that I will not be on here much, if at all til February 2015.

Going out to Australia in the next couple of weeks to do some work for three months. Keep up the banter, support the boys through thick and thin and I'll be back to reassess the situation next year.

Thanks all!

{Ed002's Note - You will be shocked to know that the Internet has now spread to Australia Greeny.}

Thanks for the heads up Ed. Loving the sarcasm as always. I was also aware of this but I am going to be working all sorts of hours and won't have much time to get on here.

Im not entirely sure how to put this, but does anyone know, especially the Ed's, if there is any sort of planning for life after Wenger?

Do they expect him to see out his 3 years, has he made any hints about stepping down at the end of this season?

surely from his perspective he must have thought winning the FA cup will help him go on to achieve greater triumps with the team, but so far they have underperformed at an alarming rate.

a directors role would be more suited to the man at this stage of his career.

i just feel we need a change. as will Manchester United in a span of 2 years, as I don't see Van Gaal being there longer than that period. he will win a trophy and call it quits.

recently we have been linked to Carlo Ancelotti, surely his success at madrid will make that call, as recently as today klopp became an attractive subject, mainly due to the failings of his team in the domestic league. i'm not saying either will be fired, but surely the lure of the premier league will beckon.

in 2 years time I would not be surprised to see pep guardiola manage manchester united. and having someone like klopp at Arsenal would be a dream, however I have a feeling he will be taken to liverpool once brendan rodgers time runs out, which I think is not too far down the line.

so where does that leave us? Carlo Ancelotti is the only name I can think of.

i do remember the ed saying awhile back the klopp was a target for barcelona, so i'm guessing that may happen if enrique fails.

Is Steve Bould the option?

Klopp plays with power, attacking prowess and technical ability. He would suit Arsenal down to a nut. But I can never see it happening.

I think ever since the Manchester United issues they had, the board will be even more cautious with their pick/retaining Wenger.

Only time will tell!

Finishing outside the top four and no trophy will be the only likelihood of Wenger leaving as the fan base at the Emirates will voice their discontent

He has started this 3 years with money to spend for a change but next season will see if he spends it on the right players.

If he doesn't they he is truly wasting our time and his and he is verging on the edge of doing that this season.

Big players need to step up, get over the World Cup hangovers, starting playing football and stay close to the top until January then pull off a bloody miracle.

It's a pointless exercise to try and put a name to a manager who may replace Wenger, way to many variables of who could be where etc.

I definately don't see Klopp at Madrid or Barca unless he doesn't mind the short terms you get at those clubs. I can see Arsenal suiting him but does anyone have faith in Kroenke and Gazidis getting the next step right?

Agree0 Disagree0

While the scenario at Manchester United is a eye opener, a manager like moyes was way out of his depth.

they need a dynamic mind, new ideas and a new identity, none of which scream moyes, if they had to get Pep, or mourinho or klopp or ancelotti, I think the team you see today would be at the top of the league rather than a point behind us.

the players they have upfront compares with the best teams in the world. its their lack of investment in keeping Vidic and Evra that has cost them IMO, they will always score but they also always conceed, which can't be said of previous Manchester United teams.

while we seem to be in a stable 4th spot conundrum, any manager who comes in and brings us better fortune will be lauded, because we have not been spoilt by success, rather we are looking to springboard our contention from a top 4 club to genuine title contenders, which can't be said of right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Red Dog has hit the nail on the head, and is also probably a key reason why a lot of people are happy with Wenger to stay even though they are unhappy with the way the team are playing and developing, and that key reason is that we don't appear to have any high level management capable of hiring our next manager independently of Mr Wenger himself. I think Klopp would be a good fit, and did notice that both he and Wenger signed 3 year extensions to their contracts, making a possible Klopp takeover from Wenger in a few years a possibility(I also seem to remember some mutual positive comments from both about each other). But in the meantime I don't trust either our NFL marketing specialist and our NFL franchise owner to manage how the grass is cut at the Emirates, let alone the hiring of our next manager.

Joachim Lowe could be a name worth thinking of, the European Championships in 2016 and I'm sure he'd love to add that to the World Cup.

The time frame might also suit and he is a top quality manager.

Moyes was a nightmare for United and it was fun whilst it lasted, I'm yet to be convinced by Van Gaal and would have hated to see him here.

Reference the front line, if you had a Rooney of 2008/09 and a Van Persie of 2012 then I'd probably agree with you but they are nothing like those players and as a whole couldn't be compared to Ronaldo, Bale and James or Neymar, Messi and Saurez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lowe is a huge gamble. Could be amazing or could mess it up only one way to find out. Wages demands will be lowe tho.
