would luv the acquisition of Lucas Moura. what a player he is. hope Eds even half right with the potential transfers in.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

Talk about ambition. PSG signed him last summer for £20m+ and he only joined up with them in January. There is zero chance that he will join the club in the near future, if ever.

Agree11 Disagree0

U mean 30mil+

Agree6 Disagree0

Anonymous are you aware that 30 is a bigger number than 20 and as such £20m+ is valid?

Agree2 Disagree9

To be fair to the anonymous poster. 30+ means he cost between 30-40 mill. compared to 20+ which means he cost between 20-30 ( which is not true)

However if you want to state that 20mill + is valid then Ronaldo cost 20 mill +.

Agree7 Disagree0

Wow. arsenal should definitely go in for a 20+ bid for messi! :D

Agree4 Disagree0

I'd argue that 20m+ is fairly open ended though I see your point.

We are just arguing semantics here now, I am sure we have better things to discuss.

Agree3 Disagree3

So basically Moura cost 5m+

Do we buy injury prone players or do we create them? Is Wenger to carefull or to harsh what is the problem?

Very quit around brasilian players.
Given up on them or to expansive to get the class players like neymar dede ganso damaio etc. ? Would love to steal Damaio from crap.

If we sign Amorbietta then it will just confirm to me that Wenger treats defending as nothing but an inconvenience.
Forchristsake, is this guy better than any of our current 3 centre halves?
short answer = no
long anwer = no, he's probably f***ing worse.

IF we sign another defender, then he's got to be an elite, "top quality" (i hate using that phrase because Wenger has used it describe any old tripe) signing, a'la Hummels/Subotic/Bonucci.

I still think that with proper protection and proper coaching and management (and maybe an upgrade in GK) our current 3 cb's are good enough.

First things first, I'd like to see a big athletic 6'2 monster to come in midfield to help out Jack and Santi.

that in itself would sort out a ton of problems in our defence.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

If you are happy with the 3 centre halves - the 4th one will be poorer as won't play too often. Think that stands to reason and logical.

Is he better than Djourou? If so - we have upgraded

Agree about the CDM and the issues it will resolve in terms of protecting back 4 from set pieces and general attacks but also to protect Jack

I actually agree with you - two new centre halves with TV leaving. First choice being BFG and Kos.

Believable18 Unbelievable7

I love the fact you have put the ;) as if hinting you have some inside knowledge that he is indeed on his way back to us.

I like your passion Malaga, and I like your views in the banter section. However, for the sake of your own dignity, please don't try and claim to have transfer knowledge anymore. You have been proven wrong over and over again. Stick to what you actually know - Arsenal.

Agree8 Disagree3

Nobody died and made mhc king/queen. Malaga, say what you want when you want to. These bloody upstarts

Agree4 Disagree1

Haha, you can interpret complex and nuanced implications from smilies! That is a true talent my friend!

Did people miss the whole, I am Malaga/CC thing? I don't know why people still think Malaga is trying to convince anyone of anything, aside from his own opinion.

Agree2 Disagree2

How do you know Anonymous? I might be the king of Spain.

I'm not though. Anyway I am just saying what we are all thinking. If you saw the board last summer we were going to sign everyone apart from Messi according to Malaga. It'd be nice if the rumours people put up were legitimate rumours that they have heard.

Agree3 Disagree2

He was making it up bro, admitted as much a few months ago I believe. It was some sort of in-joke thing only a few people were in on as far as I can tell!

Anyway, I'd love Cesc back Malaga! Sadly they'll probably get a new coach who will like him as much as I do next season.

Any of the ed can reply it.
Ed do you see these signing for arsenal
valdes
ambroitta
gotze or isco
wanyama
jovetic or lewamdowski?
Thanx {Ed027's Note - I can see all but Isco/Gotze happening

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I think Isco is possible now seeing as we have Santi and nacho to put in a good word for us with there Malaga ties? Him and jovetic would be a great statement of intent and add wanyama/capoue and a decent keeper then we may be able to compete? {Ed029's Note - Not Isco I am told.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed what have you been told about isco?
Waq {Ed029's Note - I asked Ed02 and he explained the situation regarding Isco and what will probably be happening in the summer. Arsenal do not figure in matters at all.}

Agree0 Disagree1

I might end up looking the fool here but I am told Isco has agreed a deal already to move to a club. Can't for the life of me remember who. Bayern Munich and Manchester City are leaping out at me off the top of my head but don't hold me to that.

Agree2 Disagree0

Apparently Chavski have first option on Isco. It's nonsense.

Arsenal have the best relationship w/ Malaga and if anyone has a first, it'll be us.

Hey Ed (s), just got a quick question for you, is there any truth in arsenal expanding the emirates and if so when is it possible?

cheers

Johnny {Ed027's Note - we can do it, but not any time soon, we have no plans to do it, it's something for the future

Believable0 Unbelievable2

That would honestly be the worst thing fr a gooner to hear.
All we would hear for anothrr 8 years is we are paying off the expansion hense key players sold, 11x parks bought in!
Neelg3

Agree3 Disagree0

If you go on a stadium tour you are told that the stadium cannot be extended - the reason it was built to 60,000 and no bigger is to do with public access to the ground and the fact it is built in a residential area.

Agree4 Disagree0

There was an April fool article written about making the seats smaller to fit more people in! If you were taken in you'll probably not want to admit it!

Bridgers

Agree1 Disagree0

Bridgers,

It was talked about as early as 2007 that expansion on the current stadium is possible. the April fools joke maybe a joke considering they stated it was to happen this summer. ( I believed it), but make no mistake the fact is they will indeed do an expansion whenever that is. for me anytime but this summer when we need the money on players.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was an april fools about more seats getting made smaller, but I've read before that we can ad extra seating, with all the technoligey about I believe this could happen

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2013 18:19:31
Would any of you accept nasri back at the club, if I said yes a couple of weeks ago i'd have hated myself, but after looking at his goals today on youtube, I really wouldn't mind his trickery in the midfield. Personally, hate the bloke but he is a great footballer and I loved the days when he was scoring for fun, remember the fulham game?

CheetahChaz97

Believable10 Unbelievable11

If he apologised to arsenal fans about atmosphere i'd love to see him back

Agree10 Disagree8

He's having 10 great games a season. he did it with us and wanted more money. he is doing the same at city and he is being slated. I don't want a 10 game a season player. we have diaby for that.

rather sign squillachi to a 6 year contract extension.

that rb from bilbao get avrge of 3 reds a season. do we really want another liability?
MK Gunner

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Do we need a new RB? Jenkinson has looked good this season he should be our number 1 RB with Yennaris as number 2. There are other positions that are more important like GK, DM, ST/Winger.

Kahl Drogo

Agree12 Disagree0

He is not a right back he is a centre
half. Also Yenneris has been playing in
midfield and Bellerin has been the right
back in the Next Gen games.

Tom.

Agree12 Disagree0

I think you need to think about comparative advantage rather than absolute advantage when thinking about the best team selection.

Khal Drogo

Agree2 Disagree0

I think the bottom line is Jenko is definitely good enough and - just as importantly - LOVED for being a true Gooner. Bellarin is an excellent understudy and we need to focus our resources on positions we are more wanting in.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ok do jenks gets a long term injury do you think bellerin will be able to handle big matches?

Hi Ed, do you know if there is any credence in Samir Nasri's assertion that Wenger was forced to look for offers for him and thus sell him to Man City?
Disbeliever {Ed027's Note - Probably is, he was in his last year, and we had to sell him, and get 24m or 0m, he wanted to leave thats for sure.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Who the hell is Amorebieta? Or whatever his name is?

No disrespect to the player, but I'm sick of this rubbish.

If you want a CB, buy someone like Hummels.

How about we actually go and sign the proven stars, the players that we know can do the job?

Scouting unknown gems is fine, I have no problem with scouting great talent, but we don't even do that anymore.
We just take who's cheapest. The scraps. The second best option.

You buy second rate players, you obtain second rate success.

Money is not an issue now apparently, let's prove it. A few smart buys of title winning quality and we will have a ripper team.

Nick. {Ed029's Note - Hummels is going elsewhere mate.}

Believable12 Unbelievable4

According to ( if I am allowed to state that) There will be an expansion of the stadium seating by 10500 seats.

This enables us to compete with Manchester United and other monied clubs and also makes us a venue to host UEFA events. min requirement is 63k seats apparently.

All this means is money is being spent to bring in more money. not sure if we will see that money on players.

also now that adidas have dropped out of bidding for the sponser slot we have been linked to Under Armour a Denver colorado based company. so we may have Calvin Klein as our new sponser.

Agree3 Disagree6

Whilst I agree with the sentiment Nick, the problem lies not only with the money aspect but the lure of the likes of Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, PSG, Juventus, all the quality players out there will be getting the interests of these big clubs, and we will get blown out of the water. Yes we have the money but we have to spend it wisely, Reported 70 mill transfer funds, can you honestly see us spending 30-40 mill on one player, when we need to strengthen various positions, Amorbietta is a good defender, an improvement on Djourou, and squid. This summer will be about strengthening the squad imo, not blowing a load of cash on one player.

N. Wales Gunner

Agree8 Disagree1

Arsenal have never bought stars. Dennis Bergkamp being the exception.

Even when Arsenal were at their peak in early 2000's, they were not buying stars.

It didn't happen then, and its not going to happen now.

Agree10 Disagree0

The Emirates will not be expanded. {Ed027's Note - it will in the future by atleast 10,0000

Agree1 Disagree2

It thought it was an April fool story the expansion of the emirates? How will they fit another 10000 seats I without going up which would put you up in the heavens like the nou camp? Any input ed please {Ed027's Note - Potential expansion methods include, make seats smaller as the Emirates Stadium is known for its spacious seats, filling in the dips in the corners of the stadium though this would block airflow, and replacing the current roof with a third level and building a new roof.
This is the information i have found, but a few years ago it was said that we could expand by 10k with ease, something about the free space around the pitch, we can expand in the future, and we would fill it providing we perform on the pitch. Of course if we really want to expand i'm talking 90-100k we would have to build a new rood

Agree1 Disagree0

Haha that story about the stadium was an April fools day joke! It got me too!

Agree0 Disagree1

U r right mate it was a april fool joke on

Agree0 Disagree1

Cramping up the seats is mad, why make a relatively comfortable stadium uncomfortable?

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed

Agree0 Disagree0

029 quick question where do you believe hummels is going? Or is it fact he is going elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a note on Ed027 (extra 10,000 seats) Arsenal originally planned 70,000 stadium but it will only be granted if the transport links are improved i. e Arsenal and finsbury park stations.

Bergkamp's apprentice 1 {Ed027's Note - that is correct, no joke

For the last 8 years we've transitioned from THE men, to the nearly men, to the not near enough men, and sadly to the nowhere near men. It's been a steady flow one way. Backwards.

The time for could be's and what ifs is over.

'Project Youth' can work, but not on its own. There has to be a marriage of both youth and experience, more like a 20/80 split in favor of experience. Even then there has to be a distinct level of class intrinsic in both the younger players and the more experienced players. That class is just is not prevalent in this current team, with a few exceptions.

We are relying on players that aren't of the standard needed to succeed at the highest level. It need not be more complex than that. At the most basic rudimentary level, we are not good enough.

I don't want jam tomorrow. I want it today. And given the club's stature, ticket prices, stadium, location and sheer class of our fans (for the most part) I do no think that is too much to ask.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Spot on mate, we need to be more ruthless. We don't have the players to win trophies. Not exactly rocket science.

Nick.

Agree1 Disagree3

Dortmund and Barcelona have proved project youth can Work.

The only difference being we have sold our talented youth - due to unknown reasons to me.

I think the main reason we have suffered is our defense. we have been unable to hold onto those 1-0 leads or 4-0 leads due to the defense.

you don't see Puyol and pique playing tiki taka with messi.

and neither have I seen Hummels and Subotic playing german taka with gotze and reus.

move over to arsenal and vermalen is practically trying to head anything he can find, koscielny is making forward runs, and then we blame mertesacker for staying behind being out paced by a winger.

I am under no delusion that bundesliga and la liga are not as competetive as EPL, however its the champions league which leave me pondering about the players we have.

I understand your statements and perhaps we all want jam today, considering we have been having jam before the 8 year no jam theme.

for now I would suggest we support the team and manager we have. think of the summer in the summer and try to pip those noisy spurs, and join me in driving bale to madrid so we can restore parity.

Agree4 Disagree0

Glad you've calmed down since your last post. No deaths in this one. Much more like it, but then again you don't care anyway. You have as much class as your mate Gervinio.

This stat sums up how embarrassing this season has been for the premier league.

Only Manchester United have picked up more points (48) than Arsenal (37) against teams in the bottom half of the table this season.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

'embarrassing' or 'competetive'

You could argue the the top teams have dipped OR the bottom teams have improved. Personally, I think it's a bit of both, however, I do see a couple of teams at the top strengthening and becoming more dominant over the next 2/3 years.

02 Apr 2013 14:01:02
Everyone seems I'm agreement we seed afew additions to strengthen our defence, but who else thinks we need a new Striker and/or Winger? I for one am sick of Walcott, I just cannot stand him. Giroud is producing goals but we need more, I also feel Wenger is misusing Podolski.

Plenty of Forwards out there. I would love a 25+ Goal a season striker to give us that edge in competing for titles. Falcao, Cavani etc obviously won't happen. We should be looking at Soldado, Lewandowski, Llorente, Jovetic, Yilmaz, Humtelaar etc. I really hope we bag at least one of these.

Also need another speedy forward or proper winger. Remy could be available on cheap? I'm not sure who else Wenger may look at to replace Arshavin. Maybe give Myichai a chance if this kid is as good as he's hyped up to be.

My ideal summer.

Valdes - 12m
Amoerbieta - Free
Coricha - 6m
Bender - 12m
Remy - 4m
Lewandowski - 15m

Mannone, Sagna, Squillaci, Djourou, Santos, Diaby, Denilson, Frimpong, Arshavin, Bendtner, Chamhak, Park all out for roughly 35m combined.

Detroit Gooner

Believable2 Unbelievable9

I understand your frustration to see a better team, and by no means is your list of players out of the arsenal reach.

but most of those players have been linked to us by some tabloid gibberish compared to actual truth.

besides amorbieta, due to his agents word of advice, I don't think any of the other targets are actual targets.

The dead wood itself will take a miracle to get rid of.

Jovetic for me has had an average season, taking into account he was injured. but his price tag will be over 22million.

lewendowski wants money. he is a player who moves every two years if you wiki the player and statements he has made in the past he looks like a mercenary. ( the type of player we don't need)

Huntelaar is too old and signed a contract extension in the summer? not sure but I know he has a long contract.

Yilmaz and soldado for me are another giroud at best. not 25 goal a season striker, so if we are not going to drastically improve I don't see why we pay them 18-20 mill and add more garbage we can't get rid of.

what I will say is. this is the last year for teams to make any sort of adjustment before the FFP comes into play in the 2014-2015 season.

I expect some major changes from big clubs.

1) I believe rooney is going to be made availabe. why? he and van persie cost 25 mill in wages and he is due for a renewal? last thing they want is to pay him even more. Besides their other younger strikers can't always be bench warmers.

2) Madrid will sell some big names to bring in some big names

3) Barcelona will sell some big names and add some big names

4) Man city will sell some big names and add some tiki taka names

5) Chelsea will look to add their Falcao to end the torres misery. Unless you believe Demba ba is good enough to play upfront in champions league.

4) Monaco coming back to ligue 1 in france will see another La liga type battle, and I am praying they want our garbage.

5) Spurs still want damiao. lol. didn't know stalking was legal.

6) due to the intricate FFP stipulations and clubs trying to meet it. everyone is going to be playing poker until the last month of the transfer window. unless someone folds early.

7) Walcott is rubbish I agree. but he is a pace. and you always need pace.

8) our core is good. our defense needs to better itself and our midfield is a CDM with no injury history away from being 10x better.

9) We can only hope this summer will see us put together a formidable squad that we can compete with the others.

10) luis suarez probably wears a bayern munich jersey as he sleeps. only liverpool are confused as to why Suarez won't join pep and win a few trohpies. I won't be surprised to see squillachi hand a transfer request having the same dream ( please god let it happen)

11) thank you for reading all this. and to any tabloids reading this. please use speculation from my head to source your fact finding articles we soo love to read.

i used to contribute to this sight regularly but with all the wenger lovers on here I stopped writing. He has money to spend this summer let's see if he spends big. I don't think he will change, so next season will be more of the same. iwant the board to sell to Usmanov or the arab consortium. let's see what wenger does. I reckon he will buy youngesters again when we need more experienced players. I will right again after the summer and see what signings we have.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

The team is currently still playing. we have 8 games to go. and we have to support the manager and team.

I don't like 90% of the players but its our team. get behind them boys and let's do it.

look many of you don't see the big picture.

I enjoy watching Arsenal games. 9 months a year I get to watch them play. then for 3 months I am bored out of my skull.

transfer news and rumours is all fun and games but I like to see them play. so for me I will relish the last 8 games, hoping we can pip those spurs.
