Gent's and Jenny,

Just for a bit of fun>>>

It's the last game of the season, we are away to Norwich, we have to win to guarantee winning the Prem League.

It's 0-0 and in the final minute of stoppage time, we are attacking and throwing everybody forward, it's the last kick of the game and we score and win the league.

Who do you want to score the goal that wins us the league and make's him an Arsenal legend?

I'm torn between Mert, Kos and Pod but i'm going to go for the Pod because he is just Arsenal through and through, on and off the field.

Who is your choice for that "Aguerooooooooo" moment?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mertesacker every day of the week, he breathes arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta be Ramsey doesn't it? After all he's gone through. or Per. because he's a total boss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, like you say Dags there are so many. I would also love Poldi, but might go for Jack. Arsenal through and through, and would get him the recognition he deserves.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am torn between Rosicky & Sagna. two old war horses who have given a lot for us over the years and really deserve to win something.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it's per, and for me it would be a corner and he heads it in, that for me would be the perfect way to win the league! "MERTESACKER! HEADS ARSENAL TO THE TITLE!" Good god I'm hoping that actually happens now lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Mert for me, he is outstanding as a leader and hates to concede goals, he had a rough start to his career her be great for him

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll go with an unusual choice and say Sagna! Been here for ages. Never moaned about anything just got on with his work, and this season has been superb!

SAGNAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Sagna delivers the premier league title to Arsenal!

Send shivers down the spine.

Agree0 Disagree0

Szcz. Would be amazing if the goalkeeper scored. If not Szcz, then Mert

Agree0 Disagree0

If its to be a legend. then kos the boss deserves that goal. last two seasons he has scored winning goal to get to CL this would be the icing on the cake!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky

Agree0 Disagree0

Hasnt Kos scored in the last two seasons' final game?

pretture sure it'd be him :D

Agree0 Disagree0

Chez every time having your goalie score a league winning goal would be legendary

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky for me. But i'd take a ruddy OG

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2014 07:13:21
OMG how difficult is that to answer, I even had a thought of Szczesny coming up for a last minute corner and smashing it into the net. Lol.

I could come up for a reason for why it should be any or all of them and Cazorla is my favourite but I'm going to say Koscielny with an assist from Mertesacker.

I'd love those two to keep their record going until, well forever really. ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas. Yes, yes I know. Maybe next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kallstram! To see wenger giving it the big one to all the knockers!. seriously though I'd go for Kos, man of steel and can wipe the agony v brum in cc final. COYG

Agree0 Disagree0

Has to be Mr Arsenal himself Mertascker with a Aaron Ramsey assist after beating 7 players and the keeper twice

Agree0 Disagree0

Well since we are going with the FIFA moments theme, I would want arteta to pick the ball, lay it to ramsey, pass to wilshere, pass to ozil, and wilshere makes a run taking the defender with him, ozil turns find cazorla, cazorla puts a lofted ball, mert and kos are there, keeper comes out to punch the ball, and outside the box is sczesny, come all the way up from his goal, takes the punched ball on the volley and scores the winner.

1 shot 1 goal, and we win the title.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner! Simply for the fun of it

Agree0 Disagree0

To come off Chris Hughton for an OG and therefore have another laugh at the team always in our shadows.

Seriously got to be TBFG

Agree0 Disagree0

Diaby first game and score the winner

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I wouldn't care if the Norwich centre half kicked it in ricocheting off the 4th official on the way!

Agree0 Disagree0

Rosicky all day so gifted but hindered by injuries Arsenal through and through I would testament rhat even though injured he had a part to play in the Psyche of our team, if he was fit would have been our captain for so many years

Agree0 Disagree0

With so many injuries, fatigue setting in and a huge amount of games to come, we should forget about the performance and just be happy with the 3 points.

We are back on top and that's all that matters. If you can't win beautiful than win ugly.

PS, credit to Palace, they didn't come to the Emirates and park the bus, they played. Fair play to them and I hope they stay up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

M City 1 Palace 0
M Utd 2 Palace 0
Liverpool 3 Palace 1
Chelsea 2 Palace 1
Palace 0 Everton 0
Arsenal 2 Palace 0

Shows what a hard side they are to beat, 3 pts and move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Palace are no mugs and did what they had to do, they worked harder than most sides and after coceeding looked dangerous.
They were unlucky not to get a a point at city earlier in the season and at Chelski but yesterday they were for all their efforts 2nd best by quite a margin.
We mustn't under value our performance just because we didn't play our super best or score a hatfull

I was thinking about Wenger's success at the club with two of his greatest achievements being the invincibles which will remain in HISTORY forever and the construction of our brilliant stadium which will be our home for NOW & the FUTURE! Then I thought how great it would have been if the invincibles went undefeated playing at the emirates. It would have been a great start to the new era at the emirates.

I don't like the bloke but Gary Neville said what a lot of us have been saying on here for a while
" Arsenal are back amongst the contenders and have proved that already no mater what happens between now and the end of the season "
" They have a lot of tough games coming up but the fact that they are all big games says it "

We are top AGAIN and if Chelsk as I think they will get at least a point tomorrow we will stay there.
We may not be champions of either PL or CL come May but within the next 2 years we have every reason to believe we can be both.

Lets enjoy the ride we have waited a while for this and like Arsene our rewards are not to far away now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are definitely going in the right direction and are a much better team/squad than over the past 5/6 years or more.

Finished article? not by a long shot, another 2 or 3 top class players and we will be a major force.

LG1. Very eloquently put and one of the best posts I've read for ages

Frustrating thing is that we're coming in to some cash now and we go and get ourselves into the farcical position around Kallstrom. This hits the headlines and gets fans angry

Peronally I think that the legal guys should have checked we had a "return" clause in the Kallstrom loan contract if we knew there was even the slightest doubt about his back

Im just happy to finally being title challengers again. If, last August you ahd told me we would be top on Feb 2nd I'd have phoned the men in white coats to take you away

Im going to enjoy the ride for the rest of the season. and then pray for another huge step forward next season

Interesting other piece of gossip is about a few clubs raising objections about ManC being in Europe whilst they are breaching FFP.

I know smart accountants will find ways round the regs but UEFA have to apply them to every club equally. If they don't UEFA will face legal challenges from FFP compliant clubs who miss out on european competition at the expense of a non complaint club

Therefore, forget all this crap about Barca, Real Madrid, Man United being above exclusion.

This means that the impact of the sugar daddy phenomenon has a short lifespan and then we will really start to appreciate Arsene's true legacy

Trophies are on the way for certain. lol as long as we sign fit players that is!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It does appear from AWs comments that we have got KK for virtually nothing and therefore some extra cover for midfield from March onwards may work out a decent move.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Feb 2014 18:26:31
Oxen and Santi were class today, fair play and a top line up, the Kalstrom signing is mental given that we needed cover. There must be a wager in squad to see who can clock up the most treatment table minutes, its my only concern really. I do feel that too many signings can disrupt the continuity, but a fit player would have been a better option. Positive stuff today, Keep it going fellas, get fit and push on, Livers, United, Livers, Munich, you can do this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think AW cleared up the KK issue and made me feel a little better

Massive 3pts against a resilient Palace team. Just like to say a few things about the game.

Szczesny was solid alongside Sagna, Mertesacker and Koscielny. Monreal (in my opinion) has been caught out defensively on a couple of occasions in the last few games. He was caught out for one of the goals against Southampton and he was ball watching for Cameron Jerome's chance, which Szczesny saved brilliantly. Gibbs has to start next game against Liverpool.

Arteta played well alongside the Ox who I thought was brilliant. Deserved his two goals. Really pleased for him. Ozil was quiet but linked play well and create a few chances. Cazorla was excellent, great ball for the first goal. He touch, dribbling and skill is sublime. Love the guy. Podolski worked hard and Giroud, although he didn't look like scoring, held the ball up, linked play and of course, created the two crucial goal.

There's been a lot of negativity on the site recently but we are top by 2pts from City. 5pts clear of Chelsea and one or both teams WILL drop points tomorrow. We are miles ahead of Spurs (11pts) and half a table ahead of Manchester United (15pts)

We've kept yet another clean sheet today and we are looking solid and getting back to form ahead of a monster run of fixtures. I for one am very optimistic about the times ahead.

Wenger out? Crisis? What crisis?! COYG!

I can't help but wonder, transfer window aside, we have one of the most up to date stadiums and training facilities, yet we still top the injury list every year.

Wenger usually isn't so centemental when it comes to players, so why is he to his under performing staff?

Having a fully fit team for most of the season actually will be like having a new signing for once.

How are teams like bolton under big sam and now southampton etc able to outdo us so easily in this area?

Am I missing something?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We play a lot of games, keep the ball and get kicked a lot

Just remind some people the commercial position and the challenges that the club has faced/ overcome, and most importantly, what the club is trying to do.

I am constantly frustrated on hearing people slag off wenger. Although I do understand and I have my moments, (no one is beyond criticism after all) - but sometimes we have to remember the big picture.

So, let's go back a bit.

The club wanted to be able to compete with the best clubs in Europe, like Man utd, Bayern, Barca etc. A very ambitious proposition and that was the vision of the club and in particular Wenger in the late 1990's.

In order to do that they needed money, hundreds of millions. So, with no sugar daddy owner, how were arsenal going to generate such cash?

The answer was what they did - build a fantastic stadium that increases capacity, and demands a higher ticket price. The Emirates cost £470m - how do you think they financed that in a way that wouldn't cripple the club with debt for the next 20+ years? Therefore not allowing it to generate the money needed to buy players etc, which was the whole point of building the stadium in the first place!?

A combination of loan and sponsorship deals and a policy of paying off the debt as quickly as possible. A lot of sponsorship was paid up front so the stadium could be built, meaning, we have had very little money to spend for the past 10 years, limited profits and low dividends.

That is why AW has not had the money to spent on players and in fact had to sell players for profit to contribute to paying off the stadium debt.

All the time in trying to make "top 4" for the CL revenue and to maintain a respectable league position and to keep a decent status as a club.

(if you think we've spent (net) in the transfer market about £10mil compared to citeh's (from 2008) £584 mil- title challengers? top 4? Maybe we should be grateful for not being in a relegation battle!)

Plus trying to do this within a changing football environment with vast wealth injections into other clubs (no need mention names here!).

Now arsenal have paid off most of their debt and signing new sponsorship deals, etc. which will cover the remaining mortgage repayments.

There has been a sacrifice i.e. no trophies, now is the time when arsenal can invest into signing top players and aiming towards the original vision that they had some 15 years ago.

To quote Ivan Gazidis, speaking recently:

"it is estimated that Wenger's budget for spending on transfer fees this summer (2014) will increase to around £80 million, this figure will be available every season for the foreseeable future".

"The money is available to the manager to use how he sees fit. We have a vision to be competing at the top of the world's game".

"The club has progressed and not from outside benefactors, but by the efforts of people who love the club and when we do achieve success, it will be incredibly meaningful to everyone who started and have continued this journey".

Personally I think this promotes great qualities, where short-term thinking, short cuts to fame, fortune and glory are all too common in this increasingly shallow football world.

Wenger has done so much for our club, taken criticism after criticism, sacrificed his own glory (arguably, could've stayed "safe" at highbury, etc) to build a legacy for the next 50+ years and all for our club (Ok he's been paid very well for it- but professionally he could've taken an easier option imo- also can you imagine someone with the ego of mourinho having the faith, tenacity and believe in a vision at the cost of not winning?).

But whatever happens in the near future and when AW finally retires, you can be assured that the next manager and the one after that etc, etc will have a stable financial and commercial base in which to make arsenal competitive for a very long time.

This will be Wenger's legacy.

Sorry for the long post and thanks if you've kept reading!

(so when people slag our club off, I always think of the bigger picture- they don't have a glue about our club, especially the glory hunters, sugar daddy clubs, etc.- we can be proud of our club and what it has tried achieve- ambition? This is real ambition that has taken a lot of balls and nerve- anyone who's rich can throw money around).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very true - I will watch the us play with my grand-kids and tell them about a wise old Frenchman who secured our club and transformed it into what they still see today. I will also tell them about the great teams I had the pleasure of watching and the fantastic players that graced the pitch, finally telling them about us going unbeaten in style for a season! It's a tiny sacrifice for the good of the club and I really want the story to have a happy ending.

"So what happened after all those trophyless years grandad?"

Well kids, let me tell you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post LG,

It is frustrating as a fan not to be challenging for honours every year and so the frustration at times has been understandable. BUT the people who run the club as you point out cannot be as short term myopic and that is where arsenal have really done well by committing to a long term vision at the expense of short and middle term success.

I respect Wenger for taking the abuse and recriminations (he has made mistakes sure but the margins were so much tighter at arsenal than utd, city, or Chelsea).

Before last year we were 20th in net spend on transfers and had the fourth highest wage bill.

Coupled with the fact that every year we lost one or two star players wenger has actually done well papering the cracks and making the top 4.

Basically, if any of our job performances were judged as some on here have judged wenger we would be unemployed and it is because most fans are emotional and not logical about our club. (Nothing wrong with that, but the expectations of fans may not reflect the realities). Now that we have money let's see if Arsene can deliver.

COYG

Agree0 Disagree0

A lovely well written post.
Even though Arsene has many faults. His greatest achievement is setting the club up for the next 100 years at the highest level. It's a shame that it will probably be the next managers that will get the success (ie trophies). That's why I've been so frustrated of late, because I want Arsene to be the manager to lift the trophies so he can have the last laugh over the critics. Also if it is Arsene lifting the trophies it means it will be sooner rather then later.

We have so much to be greatfull to Arsene forand yes we have all disagreed with him and some of his decisions but no real Arsenal fan could ever not appreciate how lucky we are he came to us 17 years ago

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post very well put BUT I don't trust AW with £80million. I can see him spending a bit on a young league 2 French kid not on the top drawer quality we need.

Simply the best - the true captain and leader. Want to see him lift a trophy for us this season

I posted a few weeks ago that I want him made outright captain. He is a true leader and runs the show with Kos at the back! Legend!

I also agree, the BFG is our defensive fulcrum, Koscielny a close second with Sagna.
Ozil was quiet but always available for a pass and always looking for the next phase, he's a class act.

Källstrom isn´t that bad!
He´s Physical in his game strong and solid a bit slow but intellegent. Perfect cover for mert and kos, with a great left foot. Amazing long passes to Zlatan and a horsekick shoot. look it up!

Arsene does sometimes frustrate us and some of his decisions baffle us but how much do we owe him? What do you feel most grateful for that he has done for OUR club?

For me its
Our stadium, the best team ever ( invincibles) a style of football that we could only dream of before he came along, players who have made us deliriously happy to watch
What have I missed people?

Anwsers on a postcard please

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think you have pretty much nailed it G62. A lot of people with very short memories. Were there not some people clamouring for Moyes?. We've been fighting with arm tied behind our backs and we're still doing better than most. £pts to day but more importantly a good performance. Then I won't care about Monday night.

Estepona gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

If we win something this year then fine. Wenger will have redeemed himself for his catastrophic failings the last 4 seasons. But if were just 1 point behind city and come second, how are we, as fans supposed to feel when we have a hundred mil in the bank doing nothing and had not one, but two transfer windows to greatly improve our squad.
Too much money or not, Draxler may well have been the difference come the end of season.

We now have a depleted squad and a harder run of fixtures than any of our rivals.

Past achievement only go so far I'm afraid. I'm no Wenger fan but I want this team to win because I've waited neatly a decade now for something to cheer apart from finishing above spurs, which, to be honest is not an achievement.

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't pin point one thing, we pretty much owe him everything. but he kinda needs to realise he owes us a bit now too

Agree0 Disagree0

The same qualities - stubbornness and drive - that gave us the modern Arsenal continues to frustrate us. I love what he's done, but just wish he would take advice and help on transfers. I'm not a fan of the Kroenke American franchising feel of AFC, but I don't think any club has managed the transition to today's corporate football as smoothly as Arsenal. Half the things I dislike are a product of the times, not a product of Wenger. So he may be struggling with the same things the average fan complains about modern football.

Love Wenger, but not uncritically. can't think of anyone else I would rather sit down with to talk about the game, so for me that's the proof he remains our best choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post ycc

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger had his hands tied for the last years hence the proviso was to maintain us in ch league whilst holding the bank balance, which in my mind he has done, he is an economist so is never going to pay over the odds, we have the stadium now, exiting football, assured signings in the future (puma deal), name me one other manager who could have kept us in the champions league with these constraints, all said a bid was put in for Draxler, their MD turned us down, higuain was a loss but think of what's to come, are we an aging team I think not, snap decisions and not taking the long term view is what can detriment a team more than big money signings, Bendtner should have been shipped long ago but refuses to go, he really is the Justin Bieber of football, anyway I have faith in our team and Wenger, yes we would always want a trophy and justifiably so, think of the downfalls of Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Coventry, where have we been since AW came in, i'm sure any of the teams outside top 4 would take it in a heartbeat

There's a bit of doom and gloom around because of Jim White night (deadline day.)

I remember when we were linked with Kevin Mirallas when he was at Olympiakos, one of the big misses in my opinion could have been a great asset to Arsenal!

Apparently had a £/€7m bid turned down when he was there.

Sorry for potentially adding to the doom and gloom guys and Jenny.

I see that we are being linked with RVP, how funny.

One of my favourite films is Braveheart and the scene where Mel Gibson rides to pick a fight with the English and delivers his terms is perfect.

We should agree to take him back on the condition that all the fans drop there pants outside the stadium and he kisses every single one of our 'Ar**s' on the way in!

I was also looking at the slysports website and have discovered why Man United are losing every second game, its because the alternate red and green dots in the 'tables' section make a very nice pattern!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Read an interesting article on mata, trying to find it again to post the link,

In summary it stated how Mata was chelsea player of the year for two years, and in that time period, for both seasons, they were out of the top 4, or struggling to make top 4.

In mata's first season, they won the champions league final, but in ever game he was ineffective(defensively), and mostly subbed, and it was a game of defending. We all know how chelsea won that title.

last year, under benitez the same, he would barely make defensive movements, his numbers looked good attacking, but his defensive numbers were poor.

last but not least the article stated, how the midfield has to be the hardest working area of the team, tracking back, defensive position and so on, while mata was more like a bystander.

and then it lists all the games that chelsea were leading, and the opposition was knocking on chelsea's door, it was mata who came off, to keep the defensive position of the team.

looks like mourinho just took Manchester United for mugs, but let's see how moyes builds it.

News from Germany is that Arsenal didn't even put a bid in for Draxler

As for the RVP rubbish, Wenger wouldn't pay his wages. so drop the thought

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That doesn't surprise me- thought it was all media bollox tbh.

But still, there is an interest there, so we might get him in the summer.

He looks a great prospect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Drop the thought. man we would boo the guy for even trying to come back.

don't he dare put on an arsenal jersey.

and he should atleast try and stick around, playing the europa league, show some loyalty to Man utd, after all the little boy inside him did scream manchester united.

Its being reported that we didn't actually put in a bid for Draxler. we only inquired. anyway the transfer window is now closed so we must move on.

Palace are going to park the bus, and their whole ground in front of our goal. just hope we can get an early goal. to calm our nerves. but i'm confident of an eventual 3 - 0 win.

And tommorrow I think Chelski. will do us a favour by getting something at City

100% support for the team today. no slagging off if things are not going well early on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lets hope mourinho can knock city off their perch, if the beat chelsea, they will become unstoppable.

Believe it or not, I do trust Wenger.
I doubted him after last season and as a result we're now second in the league, and if Chelsea can win or draw (can't believe I'm hoping they get a result) we'll be top by 1 or 2 point(s).

However, Kallstrom to me, even without the injury just seems such a pointless signing.
Cannot see the logic.

Is it just me, or would anyone else preferred to of seen us just use the likes of Zelalem, Eisfeld and Toral?
All 3 are fantastic prospects and IMO, Zelalem and Eisfeld are certainly ready for fringe first team action!

Just my thoughts.

So maybe just maybe the financial fair play rule will cost city a place in the CL next season.

It would be a great day for football if it happens but I very much doubt it will happen by the time bussiness men/women and lawyer's are done with it.

Sadly money usually wins out above justice in the modern world, but if uafa can keep their bottle and principles this could be the first step towards giving the game back to the people.

Keep the red flag flying, power to the people

Agree totally G62 but we have to remember it is Monsieur Platini who has to hold his nerve - no chance considering his PSG links! Just makes you even prouder to be a GOONER to be in the mix with the Sugar Daddy clubs

It amazes me reading some comments that people want wenger out!? I mean if that were to happen there's a club in Manchester in dire straits at the moment and would in my opinion Pounce on having wenger in charge. Please for the sake of the club back the manager and get behind the team. we are in a title race ffs and have as good a chance then in the last 3 years. COYG

Wenger out and he can take Giroud Ozil Ramsey Wilshere and his style of football with him, bring back George Graham and Perry Groves Martin Hayes John Jenson Jimmy Carter and Ian Allison and his one shot one goal kill the game cold style back

People have either very short memories or are to young to know.
You never truly appreciate what you have until its gone I guess

Well said lads, anyone who is thinking Wenger out when we have the best team since the invincibles needs their head examined

HEAR F&^%ing HEAR!!!

Been a gooner for well over 50 years. During that time we have gone periods over 10years without even lookin like winning a pot. Also playing real KAK but we still went and stood and cheered!
Fans out there should be real careful what they wish for.

Can you believe that RVP is being linked with a move BACK to Arsenal.

Personally, I wouldn't give it a moments thought. In my opinion he's on a downward spiral.

I'd go with someone younger with the ability to play with us for a decade if possible.

Anyone actually take him back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No way. Would sooner take back Chamakh than that traitor. (alright maybe not that far, but you get my drift. )

He could do a job off the bench ;)

Would you lads like to sign Jose Enrique, Lucas etc., pay to fix 'em up and then just send them right back? Heard you were doing that sort of thing ;).
I'm sorry lads, had to be done. Though with the Edward Scissor-hands you have for a medical staff, they'd probably be out for two years, so never mind. Haha, in all seriousness good luck today, would love for my Liverpool to catch and pass you, but at the same time I don't want any of the plastics to win.

Fair comment Fitz mate, think we are in for a lot of this good humoured banter, and why Not!
We would enjoy it if it was another club, keep them coming I say

Okay lads, tough question here, if it were up to you what two signings (within reason) would fix all of our problems at the moment?

That horrible dutch bloke and Fabregas.
Would fit straight in and we would take some stopping

Eds answer this please boys you may have the answer from somewhere that makes sense because I can't make sense of it. If Kallstrom was injured before we signed him and presumably our medical team would have examined him now saying he could be out for a couple of months Why did we bother with him? I'm stumped. So far we have a 31 year old player that can't kick a ball when we are in desperate need. Wheres the logic in that? Even if he were fit he probably wouldn't be in the reckoning come next season. We may aswell have signed a player from the conference league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal would not knowingly have signed him if they thought he was not going to be available for two months.}

Need to share this with some people who have joined this site
recently and think it is big and clever to have a pop at people. Up to the transfer window and I said it before everyone here were like old mates having fun chipping each other friendly banter etc. Lately a few new faces have turned up on the scene who seem to want to dig people out. If that's what you want to do be like and haven't got anything funny, constructive or anything nice to say then h**k off on to another site and p*ss them off instead. I've noticed a few old faces are not posting on here so much lately I wonder why?
Does anyone agree.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Some people will only go to games and moan about mistakes the ref makes, others will go to boo the player they hate and hope he has a stinker, luckily most go to support their team.
Its the same on here some will only post when there's a chance to complain and criticise others post to share the good times bad times banter and fun.
Takes all sorts I guess but in the end of the day all are entitled to a voice no matter how much we disagree with it or them

Goldboy, I'm sorry if I annoyed you the other day saying you were talking 'rubbish' - I'd never want to argue with any fellow gooner and I certainly shouldn't have made my comment personal. I guess I was just in a bad mood after signing an injured 31 year-old Swede you know? Peace.

well guys, first trip to the emirates today with my daughter and seriously hoping for a goal rush.
reading some of your posts on here you'd think we were in the relegation zone and city were out of sight. ITS 1 POINT for christ sake! we will more than likely be top again by tonight and there's the small matter of city chelsea tomorrow. some of u guys really shouldn't just assume that city and chelsea will beat us when the games come either, they r both beatable! none of u would have predicted that we'd be were we are come the halfway point so climb down from your high horse and get behind the team. what can I say, i'm a glass half full kind of guy!

quick question for the eds are there any players who aren't contracted to a club who we may sign to ease our injury problems?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed027's Note - not really Nate no, nothing we'd be happy with

02 Feb 2014 02:11:42
Guys, I agree with Jenny. Yes, the window was rubbish. Yes Wenger is stubborn. He has made his mistakes but who hasn't. Wenger is stubborn and wise. The KK injury ridiculous yeah but we are doing good. Last year we we're struggling at this point with a weaker squad (minus Ozil and Flam's experience) and we still pulled up our socks under immense pressure and got 4th. Not only did we get 4th we finished the league stronger than any other team. Also everyone was saying 'no, arsenal have ****ed it' . 'no spurs will get 4th' and we silenced them. Wenger silenced them. We got 4th and if we hadn't I very much doubt we'd have got Ozil and also now because of him, other players that will follow in the summer. We always finish strongly no matter what. If we can ride out what is admittedly going to be a very difficult period for us and keep close to City we will have good chance when Ramsay gets back. C'mon Arsenal! It's not doom and gloom. We are involved in a tttle race. Enjoy it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more LeeGun mate
We have to enjoy what's happening this season if not what's the point.
The reality is 20 teams set out with hopes and dreams for the season ahead every August, some of survival others of CL football qualification and the elite few the title.
No matter how well everyone plays 3 have to go down and only one can be champions.
We are real contenders again and if its 2nd place for us this season I won't be exactly be full of despair.
Just happy with the progress we have made

Thanks Leegun,

We have so much more to feel good about than to feel down about.

I to think along the lines of Flybo that it was let down not to get Draxler, with money to burn its a hard one to know exactly why he isn't here. But Liverpool didn't get their man because the owner said No.

But the good things are still here and I appreciate you can't man for man say Walcott and Ramsey are at the level of Aguero and Yaya Toure but for our team they mean the same in level of impact and yet we are still up there.

We have some great youngsters in Zelalem and Eisfeld who I think have shown the ability to step in if really needed.

And who knows what Sanogo or NB may chip in with.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Draxler was never going to move in January. In the summer if the offer is right, he will be able to decide between Arsenal and Bayern Munich. There remains a residual chance that Manchester City will still be interested.}

02 Feb 2014 01:54:22
with all our injuries, would be good to see a young player step up, and I think it could be zelalem as he's already in first team, maybe playing smaller games like tomorrow (no game is a small game now though);
or let chamberlain have a go if that's where he's going to end up

it would look like a stroke of genius from wenger at the end of season if it worked

Gents and Jenny,

Prediction for tomorrow>>>

Im going to be a bit cheeky and say we are going to win 4-1.

Giroud 2, Cazorla and Ozil
Chamakh for Palace.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope he starts Podolski!

I'd love us to smash em 6-0 but I am going for a conservative 2-0 ground out win with Giroud and Cazorla scoring.

Dags I'm rubbish at predictions but I'm going for my favourite player Santi to score again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Either 3 0 or 1 1.
If we are back to business as usual 3 0 as even an improved Palace won't be able to keep us out all game, if we are still struggling for our rhythm it could be a long afternoon against a side that is fast improving.

Agree0 Disagree0

DG, I think pulls has got them working well as a defensive unit I will go 1-0 a draw halftime and us nicking it in the 2nd half

Time for Wenger to go.
Even the "In Wenger we trust" brigade must finally be smelling the coffee.
Another trophyless year coming up.

I really hope I am wrong and maybe we can win the the F.A cup? Wenger's blown the league with this latest stubborn pantomime. City are too strong

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its a long season mate Aguero is injured again if Yaya, Kompany or Negredo gets injured aswell they are no better off than us I really do believe that with Giroud and Podolski both scoring, ox back and santi banging in the goals its not as bad as you are seeing it! In fact its not bad at all! We are second and may go back top after palace and we are still very much in both competitions that matter with no reason to think we cannot beat both opponents. We broke our transfer record and even man city have not spent more money on one player than we have! So I honestly think you are over reacting a bit to say sack Wenger I think he is doing a great job with the team best home defense, best away record in the league not to shabby.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really TG,

1 point from the top, in the cl, and fa cup and he should be sacked based on your perceived issues with the transfer window?

City look strong ( but they also went two nil down to watford). There is plenty of games left and we control our own destiny.

Get behind the team until at least May and evaluate then.

Agree0 Disagree0

TG, last season people were saying Wenger is mad because he puts too much trust in Szczesny.

Last January people were saying 'Wenger out' because he didn't get rid of Ramsey ("a mid-table player" I believe they were saying) and sign a better midfielder.

Before that it was Mertesacker - people called Wenger defensively naive for playing a big, slow German and that we'd never win anything with Per.

These are the players who have given us a shot in the league this year. And we have Wenger to thank for them.

I'm not part of some 'Wenger brigade', and clearly mistakes have been made. We all come here to criticise and chat about our club. But sacking Wenger would be a lot worse than a disappointing transfer window.
