Anyway, that's enough about me.

We were fortunate today.

So, the dreaded Christmas period.

4 games, 3 wins (bearing in mind our injuries which impacts rotation) .

Are you a happy bunch or what?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 22:10:22
Relatively happy on points total but win against City set my expectations high, annoyed with the big loss HOWEVER I would rather give 3 points up to them rather than City.

I am more concerned about our recent sluggish performances - we need to kick start the second half of the season. May be a signing or two will help.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 22:19:02
Pionts wise a very good return, a draw with city and Southampton wouldn't have been considered bad.
1 really top signing might create a buzz that kicks us on I guess but then again Sanchez coming back will be like a new signing he he :-) sorry.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 22:31:10
Agree SY,
Hope we wrap up Elneny signing to help the squad out. Sanchez is on the way back.
No disrespect to Sunderland, but we should be able to rest 2 or 3 players so they should be fresh for Liverpool game next Wednesday.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 22:28:56
You have had a lovely run I games Southampton bournmouth Newcastle etc let's see how good you ate in the next few weeks when you play Liverpool away stoke away Manchester United away and Chelsea. You lot will be found out in the next couple of weeks mark my words.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 23:36:29
Raver,
Are you going to put another £5000 on us bombing?
Bless ya mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 20:35:55
A week in between games should be a good thing but for us it doesn't seem to work that way especially following a good result the previous week.
West Ham following Chelsea
Southampton following City
Newcastle following Bournemouth performance and there's been a couple of others after a week off to that without using google remember who against but they followed a free week I do remember.
Why? Most complain about to many games but us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 21:19:53
I'm confused lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 21:57:41
Fair comment Dags :-)
Take 2 :-)
What I'm trying to say is
If we have a free week (no mid week game) leading up to a match we seem to struggle that weekend more than when we've played in Europe prior to the league game.
A week off seems to do more harm than good for us, why?

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 22:35:07
62 I can't understand a word and you speaking in petr cech or something.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 22:35:38
That's what I thought :-)
I guess sometimes the momentum of Saturday/ Wednesday/ Saturday keeps the players on their toes and can even stop them getting muscle injuries (perhaps) .
Confidence and momentum are probably the 2 best antidotes a player needs.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 23:05:47

Scrappy 3 points?

Will take that every day of the week.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 19:07:05
On the upside it might make a striker arriving more likely to secure the goals for the title!
We might be OK without one but belt and braces this time might be good.

02 Jan 2016 19:09:29
hi DG, hi all:)
one nil to the arsenal. I just love that! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 19:14:42
Petre Cech did so brilliantly to keep is in the game.
Kos the boss seemed to enjoy scoring against new castle and when its needed most too.
But as you said dags scruppy 3 points which I'm very pleased with.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 19:20:58
Hi G62 and Andi.

Yep Moe, you can't beat a scruppy 3 points lol.

02 Jan 2016 19:29:40
Can't see him replacing giroud mid season. He's a cult figure. Remember rvp that season he killed it. We have him now we are 10 points clear.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 18:25:00
I've heard that the Arsenal scouts assigned to Napoli games recently have been more interested in Jorginho than Insigne.

Can any of the Ed's verify this at all?

Are we genuinely better this season or have the usual contenders been pants (I know Man City and Chelsea have not been up to standard) but are we genuinely improved. Would really appreciate some stats ie
Goals conceded vs same time last year
Goals score vs same time last year
Win ratio vs last year
Lose ratio vs last year
Etc etc
Anyone with stats comparing this season to last year January will be highly appreciated.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 12:09:20
Yes we have improved, how much is anyones guess. We have had some amazing highs and some awful lows, which shows we are still falable. If saf was still at mu or chelski in form of last season, we would be third and that for me is the yardstick. But neither of the above are in the same place so they have deteriorated. The league is what it is and today we are top.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:15:44
Cech Mesut Monreal Walcott? We are deffinately better than last season no question, rewinnd 2 years when we were top at this stage?
Add to those above Sanchez Le Coq Gabriel and a Giroud that isn't totally worn out and we are unrecognisable.
As if that wasnt enough Chelsea city and Liverpool are not a patch on thier 2013/ 14 sides, ours to lose more than ever I'd say.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 13:01:29
We wouldve been fighting for the league no matter what, its just an additional bonus that others have been poor. If you see the winners of the league previously, they wouldve won either the FA cup or the Carling cup the year previous to winning the league. I was fairly confident that we'd finish top 2 the beginning of the season. Now I'm predicting us to win the league.

Hi eds if arsenal get a work permit for this eleny could you see other players leaving I don't think it will be arteta as he will get a coaching role I believe.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand the relevance of Elneny to what happens.}

02 Jan 2016 11:24:57
Arteta as a coach. what's he going to treach people how to pass side ways? He may as well become a grab breader or something.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 17:02:22
Arteta has 41 goals and 41 assists since he joined the EPL, didn't know they put a goal on the sidelines ;-)

My boy Mahrez lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 07:50:41
Is it a good thing that Cech speaks to the defence in 3 different languages? I can see the use at first as they get used to each other, but he is the only new one there, so surely they should all be using one language by now? Personally I would want his shouts to be heard by all the team, so they know what their team mate is doing and can react accordingly. For instance, Cech warns one centre back about a runner than he then drops off to cover, if the other centre back is not aware then he can be left too high up the pitch, as would the full backs. I just think a defensive unit should be just that, a unit. They can all speak very good English, well other than Chambers, who is from too far south to speak proper like, so use that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 08:22:15
You are spot on Ed.
English should be the only language used, as you said, so everybody can understand.
Although, when Carra was playing, apparently he was instructed to try and speak a foreign language because nobody could understand what he was saying, including Stevie G, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - see that was why Liverpool struggled so badly, the rest should have learnt to speak the Bootle lingo properly. Proper Scouse that is!}

02 Jan 2016 08:37:06
Lol, exactly Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you just have to be careful when you use some of the words. As I found once by talking about jiggers in front of a rather large group of black lads, misunderstandings can be common place.}

02 Jan 2016 10:00:52
He will speak English on the pitch. Kos. Merts. Bellerin. Monreal all speak English.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no he has said he speaks 3 different languages on the pitch mate, that is why I posted this.}

02 Jan 2016 10:15:14
Niether Gabriel or Sanchez speak English for sure and fairly sure Aaron doesn't either :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 10:44:20
Jiggers Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes dag, jiggers. Maybe it is time you learnt a bit of scouse yourself! There are scouse dictionaries available online mate.}

02 Jan 2016 11:16:18
I can speak Scouse Ed.

"Ooppss, I tripped".

Stevie G lingo, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hmmm I really can't imagine Stevie G ever saying anything that posh mate! Oooops really? Hahaha. I never knew Dagenham had such well spoken people in it!}

02 Jan 2016 11:29:11
It says also he organisers people in English. Strange tho. Iv heard them all speak English in interviews. All have been in England at least two years. Bar Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 11:39:14
You sure you've heard Sanchez interviewed in English Derby? And Gabriel too?
I've deffinately heard Aaron interviewed in English but he didn't respond in it for some reason :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:02:13
Never new Sanchez was part of the back four tbh. Sanchez is one player that doesn't need telling lol

How to do you say carry on running about like a greyhound in Chilean.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am sure Cech just means that he shouts at them in the heat of the moment mate, which is, as I was saying above, when it would be a problem in my opinion.}

02 Jan 2016 12:02:58
Eds thoughts on ter Stegen to you boys? Is he really as good as people make out? I'm not convinced myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I like him a lot, but I don't see it happening.}

02 Jan 2016 12:11:52
Hes my first signing on football manager. In real life he is yet to convince me. Butland may be the smarter choice. Will either imrpove u hmmm.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:33:37
Speaking of football manager I read a serious interview on the bbc site with some bloke who is apparently an authority on the fantasy world game.
He was saying some lad who is 19 (real life ) is now 25 in the game and has changed clubs twice but hasn't lived up to his potential so far and they were asking this expert why and where it went wrong for him, crazy:-)
I see where you get it from now Dercity mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 13:08:35
Watch the film its very good.

Cherno samba. Legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 07:44:50
WIth Carl Jenkinson having lost his spot at right back in the West Ham team, would you recall him, especially as Debuchy wants to leave?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 09:23:46
Yes Ed get him home and Gnarby too come to that I know his time at West brom hasn't gone well but the season before last Harry Kane's loan spell at Norwich was far from all singing and dancing eithe but given a run in the spurs team the rest as they say is horrible :- (

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 12:03:24
Jenko will be the back up next season for sure. Can't see an early return tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 07:43:24
I see Mertesacker saying the players would like to see Wojciech Szczesny back after his loan spell. With Cech getting on, would you be happy to see him back as cover and possibly the long term replacement?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jan 2016 08:23:59
Would prefer Ospina as No.2 to be honest.
More reliable as less prone to throw a clanger.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is having a good season at Roma.}

02 Jan 2016 08:29:50
Fortunately Cech has a few years left in him. Although, Ospina had a decent spell last season, his lack of height for a top keeper concerns me. Would I have Szczesny back, probably yes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Having spoken to someone very close to this situation I can confirm that Roma made the decision to not take up their option on Wojciech Szczesny as early as November when they entered discussions over another goalkeeper. They have since hedged their bets and have two potential replacements lined up for the summer - but one of which is also attracting the attention of Juventus. Szczesny will return to Arsenal.}

02 Jan 2016 08:38:02
He is a good keeper Ed but I rate Ospina slightly above him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - me too being honest, but I can't see Ospina staying put in the long term.}

02 Jan 2016 09:52:32
Ospina is perfect for the number two keeper role given that's the amount of saves he makes every time the opponents have a shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 10:05:27
All joking aside Ospina is an excellent number two as is Szczesney but niether is close to being a title winning first choice keeper IMO.
I think both will want to play regularly so need to leave Arsenal next summer at the latest and as for us? We've 5 years to find the next Petr Cech because he's proved if there ever was any doubt the standard of keeper cannot be compromised on if you want to win big trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 10:05:42
Cech has 4 seasons after this probably so by that time sczh will be gone. I don't think he's as good as he thinks and he's been average at Roma. Id sell him.

Agree0 Disagree0
