Ed025,

Cleverley?

Bet you are over the moon? :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im slowly but surely becoming a gooner for life dags, if my clubs idea of improvement is to sign the likes of cleverley and johnny evans then in afraid its time to pack in mate.. :(

02 Jun 2015 22:49:33
Ed,

I've heard Smalling is en route to Goodison too :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it would not surprise me one bit dags, that fraud martinez is turning us into a team of wigan and man utd cast offs mate FFS..

03 Jun 2015 00:37:24
Agree Ed,

Although Adnan Januzaj wouldn't be a bad shout.

03 Jun 2015 00:42:11
Ed I hope you aren't moaning. Tut tut.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im allowed the odd moan steve, imagine how you would feel if arsenal signed john o,shea to replace kos?..enough said i think mate..

03 Jun 2015 08:13:13
I remember it wasn't that long ago that the United lot were lording Cleverley as the next big thing.

How players like him, Smalling, Wes Brown, Phil Jones and others at United went on to get England caps is beyond me.

Cleverley is probably the worst of all the duff players left there from Fergies reign though ed and would be better suited to a Championship club at best if I'm honest.

Could be worse it could be falco or di maria

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 11:37:56
Did you see the pics of Falcao at the airport with his wife the day after the final league games, he was on the phone to the Ferrari dealer in Monaco to arrange picking up his and his wife's new cars when they landed.

That was what you call money for old rope.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 13:07:30
Or welbeck as we say at united.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 13:36:30
CTR as much as you want to slate webz, he still has utd fans caring about him more than they do about falcao and di maria.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 15:27:05
I like welbz, decent guy imo as far as a footballer, nah. Never going to reach amazing heights.

He was not good enough for us but seemingly for u so hey ho.

Everyone slates Falcao but just remember u paid for us to take that gamble. If it was not for arsenal panicking and having to buy welbz for £16m! We might of signed him up permanently.

So thanks for allowing us to dodge that bullet :)

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 19:14:00
Welbeck is a squad player that usually ends up put on the wing for us, just like for United, CTR. I'm pretty sure we only bought him because Giroud broke his leg at the end of august, so it wasn't 'panicking' merely being forced to buy a striker in the last few days of the transfer period. Who is going to sell a top class striker unplanned without time to replace them.? But then again you probably already know all that...

And to be fair RedDog Smalling has been alright this season I think, nowhere near the likes of Kos but he's definitely gotten better. The rest of the names you listed are awful though you're right

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 19:38:15
Falcon how much per goal and its gone done and dusted every single penny of it? :-)
Denny how much per goal? The fa cup goal at the theatre of screams was priceless on its own, plus still more to come and lots of resale value if we wanted it :-)
How much is the debt now Chris? Wonder how that happend :-)
Basically Welbeck is smiles better in both quality and value

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 19:44:48
Well I'm sure Danny who was frustrated with lack of playing time and constantly being played out of position for Manchester United will be happy to know he is seen as an attacking wide player who only plays when others are not fit at arsenal.

So Giroud getting injured did not force u to panic and spend nearly 20m on welbz?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 20:04:29
U keep telling yourself that G62 mate. U keep lying to yourself that Danny was worth the outlay. When in fact we all no if u could get the money back tomorrow u all would ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 20:09:03
Panic! De Gea the only reason you finished top 8 as good as gone and the £ billion debt growing by the hour?
Might be time to panic a little too ctr me old flower :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 20:24:47
Oh what's that G62? U going off on another tangent? Wonder why that is?

Have u actually read our debt recently? And how our revenues have grown massively over the last 5 years?
and the debt and repayments dropped significantly. You didn't see us using our money woes as an excuse not to be competing did u? Unlike a certain other club. No we cracked on and won leagues and CL while u used it as an excuse.

Yes De Gea seems to be off :( shame that. Love the bloke. Guess we will along with u, be looking for a new keeper. I wonder who will get the the right one?

If u want u can have lindegaard off us but for nothing under 10m to u since ure club like to buy our squad players at a premium.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 21:47:17
All that debt mate and chelsea now have the premier league trophy we have the FA cup and Bournemouth have the old division winners trophy, all that you once treasured has turned to debt while our stadium that caused us to be none competitive over a number of years is starting to become the gift that just keeps giving and giving while our books make even the greatest gymnasts envious because they balance so well

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the debt issue is not exactly true G62, a lot of it has been paid and the payments have now plummeted mate, united have a stable financial footing now and are able to compete with all the big clubs for players, the press make a big deal out of things like this but are actually very liberal with the truth..

03 Jun 2015 22:23:15
Fair play Ed that may well be true mate but their still manchester united, and even UK's totally despicable media can't be blamed for that.
They are marmite you either dislike them or have absolutely no taste buds

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - well thats one way of looking at it mate.. :)

03 Jun 2015 22:43:52
What this country needs is a 21st century Mary Whitehouse but this time one who doesn't mind sex on TV in fact she's all for that and wants more of it but just wants the really disgusting stuff banned from TV, ie payday loan adds and THEM! :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 22:44:17
The stadium doesn't put ure balance in the green dags, it's the poor fans that have to shell out well over £100 a game without the costs or food, travel etc.

Are those prices going to rise again this season that's the question!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - come on chris..dont be patronising mate..

03 Jun 2015 23:13:11
Tut tut Christopher, £100 for pure entertainment no food or travel included or £19.99 for the match burger and bus fair or if you prefer £18.99 if your not fussed about the match and just fancy the burger and bus ride and getting the most out of your day a shopping trip to the Trafford centre.

04 Jun 2015 00:20:28
Oh and I'm sorry G62 I was talking to u not dags lol.

Even my bloody fone types him in when on this page it seems lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 00:19:20
Ed I wasn't being patronising in the slightest mate.

Did it come across like that?

My point is the size of arsenal, the stadium it's self does not account for a 1/4 of the revenue they make I'm guessing, but the fans willing to pay 100+ a ticket does.

Yes G62 the football u play is lovely when it's going well and I'm sure worth it to gooners, but still bloody expensive in times where your average fan can't really afford it and there so much money washing about in the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im sure some utd seats cost an arm and a leg as well chris, not all tickets at arsenal are overboard mate, and it seemed to me that you were just looking to pass a disparaging remark to the arsenal fans..but i suppose i could be wrong..

02 Jun 2015 21:41:42
But really, where is Diaby?
Jokes aside, this guy pops up at an U21 game every 6 months, then never seen again.

Surely he will get released, if only to try and change his luck?

He was at Wembley with the rest of the squad and was in the photo's and video footage, he wasn't limping either when he was walking around the pitch.

{Ed025's Note - hes a ghost i think..

02 Jun 2015 22:51:19
That clears that up, he was injured by the flash photography, he should be back in a couple of years with a new Ray Charles look.

Well what a great end to the season.
I'm back in sunny Cyprus sadly only temporary & watched the final down at my local The Tamala it was buzzin with both English & Local gooners a sea of red & white. At he end the singing & jumping up & down reminded me of me old days on the north bank! it ended with a rousing chorus of are you watching Tottenham.

I posted earlier this yr that Arsene had to improve & he has 3rd & the cup is just that so next season we have to push for a lge win. It's going to be difficult & for those that think we have enough a simple no. All teams improve their side each summer. Will Chelsea Man C & U still still no they will be looking & so must we.
So its going to be a fun window with hopefully loads of good rumours & the usual banter from the usual guys on here that seem to have a massive world knowledge of players from everywhere.

From me a big thanks to all the eds for last season & the upcoming window & to all the posters that make me smile & keep this pensioner [official since April] up to date with the players.
Roll on next season fellow gooners

{Ed025's Note - nice one sagalout...you old git.. :)

02 Jun 2015 13:26:56
Not sure if anyone has seen this but made me lol, it's the German commentary for Mertesackers goal in the Final.

Have a look it explains perfectly what BFG actually stands for. Big F German

First time poster here! Ed its of popular opinion that arsenal need a 'spine' with pundits mooting up to four players. Do you think that wenger would make that many quality signings?!? or do you think we might see 1 or 2 and a squad player or two. and what is our transfer budget?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think you are looking at 1 marquee signing and a couple of good squad players brow, the budget will be as much as he needs within reason mate..

02 Jun 2015 14:19:42
Ed025, would you class schneiderlin as a marquee signing or very good squad player?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very good squad player hzy..

02 Jun 2015 15:02:40
what would you class as marquee and squad ed? say we got spyder or vidal, would you expect that to be as big as we will get? i really hope the marquee signing is an outstanding striker

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so do i eden, i expect schneiderlin to be a big signing but not the marquee one, there are funds for a world class talent mate...so its over to you arsene..

02 Jun 2015 16:40:16
Cheers for that.. As for spyder agreed good squad player. What i class a marquee signing is a player that performs at a top level for a big team week in week out Benzima, Vidal i would also class petr cech a marquee signing. My wish list is cech, ricardo rodriguez, Kondogbia and benzema but i have more chance platting pi**

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lets hope your platting then brow.. :)

A lot of the talk on here recently about what signings would take us to the next level.

Looking at other top 6 teams, what players would improve us or get into our starting XI. There seems to be a trend.

De Gea, Courtois/Cech, Lloris and Hart would all get ahead of Ospina/Szszency. Mingolet probs wouldn't but he's not far behind them.

Costa, Aguero/Dzecko/Bony, V.Persie/Rooney, Kane and Sturridge would all get ahead of Giroud.

Think it is clear the two areas are Goalkeeper and Striker in terms of catching up with Chelsea/City to properly compete and getting more distance between Spurs/Liverpool to avoid a fourth place brawl.

But we have a problem that we don't have room. We just signed Ospina and Welbeck, so neither will leave this summer. Szszency said he's staying and Wenger loves Giroud and plans on playing Walcott striker aswell.

Honestly don't think we will sign either, even though its what we need. I would let Szszency go and sign a striker anyway and play Walcott down RW.

Our squad is just too congested and can't see too many big players without big outgoings aswell.

02 Jun 2015 11:41:31
Theo will either play down the middle next season or go this summer, I think its clear that's where he believes his best position is. In my opinion him staying and playing wide on a regular basis isn't an option although I think its what Arsene would prefer.
If we can't get Cech I think we will stick by Ospina as number one chioce.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 13:43:11
I have to agree DG. I think with Wenger's loyalty to his existing players, combined with the fact that he already has 3 strikers (counting Walcott and Wellbeck)playing for the one role, and already has 3 GK's in the squad, i am not confident he will sign either. Perhaps with the GK we will loan Martinez for a season, so that's more of a possibility. I think that if he agrees that Walcott will play more centrally, I could see him signing someone who could play "across the front 3" as he likes that sort of player, and they would provide cover for the vacant Walcott RW spot (personally, would love that player to be Reus). Also, with him struggling to accommodate Wilshire, the Ox etc in the first XI I fear that we won't sign another DM either. Personally, i would love to see Spider come in. He is very versatile, and could replace Le Coq when required, but could also easily play alongside Le Coq as a more box to box player when needed (i.e. tough away games), something I don't think another more defensively minded midfielder, such as a Wanyama, could do.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 14:45:43
Our squad at the moment is listed at 30 which includes, Hayden, Zalalem, Gnabry, Akpom and Bielek of which I could see loans for the first four. I think Gnabry was going to go to the Saints last year and that would be a great side for him this year especially as they now have Europa League.

Then there are Flamini and Diaby who are likely to simply be released, Arteta has the option to stay but may want more game time with maybe even a move in January, same for Rosicky.

Don't see Wellington, Campbell, Podolski, Myiachi and Sanogo being in the squad whether sold or loaned.

I don't dislike Schneiderlin but Chelsea took out United with Matic and Zouma playing pretty much as defensive mids and scored the breakaway goal with pace from Hazard which is why my preference would be another stay at home DM like Wanyama. Don't also forget that Wenger has spoken of Chambers potential for the DM role.

I know it's extremely unlikely but an interchanging front 3 of Sanchez, Lacazette/Reus and Walcott with Ozil behind, then either Ramsey and Coquelin or Wanyama and Cazorla sat behind them leaving us with players like Giroud, Welbeck, Wilshere, Oxlaide-Chamberlain and Rosicky on the bench does it for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 16:50:02
Agree with most there DG but i think everyones a bit harsh on Giroud only Costa, aguero and kane out scored him, and he was laid up as well this season! just feel giroud is like a plan B striker we just need something different we need a striker who can get in behind. I really rate el shaarawy just needs to keep fit and have a run in a good team

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 09:13:20
Having read through the posts over the last few days and given it some consideration I think with
A very top striker or Keeper we would close the gap but still be short and with both top 2 is a reasonable expectation more would be a big bonus.
If we add coved for Le Coq and a decent CB to compete with Kos Mert and Gab then we have every reason to expect a title challenge that goes very very close at least if not makes us champions this time next year.
4 signings 2 top class and 2 excellent can it happen in one summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2015 09:29:30
We don't need a cb

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 11:04:47
We really don't need a CB now we have Gabriel. I imagine over the next season Gabriel will play more and rotate with Mertesacker and eventually become first choice alongside Koscielny. Chambers is a good enough 4th choice and will keep improving. Should we have a ridiculous injury crisis losing 3 CBs we always have Debuchy or Monreal can play there.

Would love to see Jenks tried there (RCB)
