Good end to the season winning the FA cup and the change to 3 at the back has shown a strong all round team for the first time in a long time.

Whilst I think change is necessary, I'm not sure if it's Wenger that needs to go or the board, but something needs to happen. However, Wenger getting that 2 year deal has happened and whilst a few people would like to see the back of him, this summer shows real promise, and I think he will get the summer business done rather quickly, and hopefully clear out some of the 'dead wood's.

We should all get behind Arsene and more importantly Arsenal for these next 2 years, what's done is done and there will be some good times ahead regardless of what happened this premier league season.

My hopeful team for next season is as follows; being optimistic but realistic at the same time

Cech
Holding koscielny mustafi
Oxlade Xhaka Ramsey Kolenasic
Ozil Lemar
Sanchez

Not many signings but keeping Ozil and Sanchez must be paramount!

Neither Arsene or the board are going anywhere for the next two years, we all need to all accept both these facts and talk about what is possible not what simply isn't going to happen, no disrespect but it's pointless talking about Arsene's or the boards futures for the next year at the very least.

02 Jun 2017 20:43:45
That's what I'm saying mate, whilst I think change is needed, we need to get behind the team and manager for the next 2 years.

02 Jun 2017 23:03:01
Absolutely Ozil mate, wether we would have preferred a change of manger or board or both what's done is done and let's all enjoy things as they are the best we can.
I'm really excited about the Europa league as I think we can really challenge in it and possibly even win, for me it will make a very pleasant change from merely making up the numbers in the Champions league.
It could well turn out to be a positive step forward after all in the long run imo.

If we don't make top4 again do you guys not think stan will miss the champs league cash. The new deal by BT sport is a big one. Also what is wenger target this season do you feel?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2017 00:18:07
I don't think there is a target Derby mate, 7th in the league and Europa league champions everyone will be happy, or Europa league group stage effort and reclaim the 4th place trophy and every will say it's improvement.
It's 2 years regardless of what comes, there will be no new manager or new owner for two years minimum, let's get on with it as it is and stop worrying about what should have, could have or might have been.

I'm commenting for the first time, but a long time reader.

How sure are we that sanchez is leaving? He came from Barca, so he knows how the top top club work. Why would he go to Bayern and risk being benched for 20 games or so. He wants to play 50-60 a year. And he doesn't seem like the guy who would go to a rival club like Chelsea or Man City. I think he could do great in juve. However in Juve and Bayern you really only play for CL.

I also think people over estimates the importance of CL. Pogba, Zlatan, Mehktirian are good examples otherwise. Payet, Lukaku, Lacazette, Icardi are players with big offers who rejected CL.

Last thing. Since the down payment on the stadium was finished, we signed Γ–zil, Sanchez, Xhaka and Mustafi, who in my opinion are all amazing/ great players. (Yes, xhaka had a bad first season) I would imagine with two more key players we would have a real shot at premier league.

Comments?

Hi mate welcome onboard, i see your point about Sanchez wanting to play every game but there a lots of clubs who will offer regular football and serious contention too.
Pogba and Ibra bought into Utd the vast money and most importantly Mourinho, they traded 1 season out of the champions league to join a manager who has won the title in his last 5 jobs, at a guess 8 titles in 12 seasons? Or close to I'm sure.
I don't agree with the 2 players away vbit either, sorry to disagree so much with your first post, hopefully we can agree more in the future :-)

I think Alexis would stay if we signed some decent players. I think he's looked at players like Monreal Walcott Ramsay and thought we should be replacing them with much better. Just my opinion. He always seems to moan at the same players. He's got a fighting attitude and we carry too many through too many games.

For us to keep him we need fighters and quality players, instead we sign Mustafi and Perez, Perez who looks like is being sold already. Nothing against Mustafi personally. I would like to see some actual big names come in. Maybe that's the way to keep him. Although as we seen, big names don't guarantee results. but they help.

02 Jun 2017 08:47:21
Don't want to be a kill joy but are we actually adding players or replacing them? .
MBappe for Sanchez is not adding it's replacing.
For me moving forward is adding more quality not losing the quality we have and scrambling around and ending up with the equivalent of what we already have.
Leaves us in a similar situation to where we started. Sorry.

{Ed025's Note - look lanesra it is what it is, arsene is around for another 2 years and we can either get behind the team as supporters and actually support, or spend the next 2 years moaning and groaning that we are not signing him or him or that this player is going and that player wants out, its supposed to be enjoyable mate and we need a bit more positivity on these pages, arsenal have just won the FA cup and finished the season really strongly so its not all doom and gloom, lets see how things pan out before we rubbish the club and i know its not easy at times but lets get the feel good factor back..rant over..

Ed25 I've been guilty of two things lately, yesterday I moaned about Wenger stating he wanted to challenge for the title which I just let wind me up and I also stated the FA Cup was just a day out which it's clearly not.

My bad and I humbly seek your forgiveness as the voice of sanity. πŸ˜”.

I love this site but lately it's where I come if I want to give myself a dose of depression.

Lanesra, we were Arsenal Football Club long before Sanchez and we'll be Arsenal Football Club long after he's left. For me, while Sanchez is obviously a great player, I hate the thought of him holding us to ransom over his wages. I'd prefer him and Ozil were sold and we replaced them. I find it funny that so many people think the man that has delivered 16 trophies and a new state-of-the-art stadium is dispensable but players like Sanchez and Ozil aren't.

I'm not saying we shouldn't try and keep them, what I'm saying is we should only keep them if it fits within the confines of our own limitations. Just because other clubs are paying their players Β£350K per week doesn't mean we can or should.

I wish all of our fans had your attitude Ed. I do fear a huge backlash the second there's any kind of slip up next season.

{Ed025's Note - once a couple of decent signings come in D16 im sure the mood will change mate..

02 Jun 2017 13:43:07
Ed, spot on. Whether we like the fact wenger is staying or not it's a fact and it's happening. No point protesting, moaning etc. God job or bad, with or without sanchez and/ or Ozil we have to make the most of it.

My father in law gas a great saying-

The graveyard is full of people they couldn't do without.

We managed after Adams, after Bergkamp, after Henry and we will carry on after Sanchez and after Ozil.

If they want out then get the best price we can, reinvest that money plus any more that's available in the best we can get then move on and look forward.

You can't force people to stay. You can't change the past. All you can do is build the best future you can.

{Ed025's Note - we need more like you sooper mate..

Im sure we have all had the same discussions after his last two contract renewals. And i'm sure we will have the same if he renews again. Eds just wants usmanov to everton can't blame him tbh. Sanchez leaving for me proves a hell of a lot but let's see what happens. Mbapppe would be amazing.

Having been given the stability of Arsene Wenger's 2 year deal, things appear to be starting to move, if media reports can be believed. From what I make of it, we are in the process of trying to buy Mbappe, which I suppose is to soften he blow of Sanchez leaving. In addition a deal to extend Ozil's stay is getting closer and I believe he may well remain as there won't be many potential purchasers for this player, taking into account the likely transfer fee and wage package he commands. Goalkeeping-wise I envisage the sale of Ospina and Szczesny, with a new keeper arriving. Defensively, I anticipate the sale/ release of Debuchy, Jenkinson and possibly Gibbs. Perhaps we will bring back Chambers and we appear to have signed Kolasinac. In midfield clearly we need to sign a replacemnt for Cazorla, quite why we extended his deal, with a career threatening injury, who will be 33 in December is beyond me. The final possible purchase may be a forward. So to confirm Wenger's statement that we won't be making many signings, I see a keeper if Ospina an Szczesny depart. A left back has been signed apparently in Kolasinac. A replacement for Sanchez, if a deal can't be reached. I don't see us signing a replacement for Cazorla, as he may be back half way hrough the season and we have players in the squad that can fill in whilst he is out. Forward-wise, unless we sell, we have Welbeck, Giroud and Perez, as well as others that can fill in. Of course young players may be also be added, such as Onyekuru. Bearing in mind the transfer window doesn't open in most of Europe until 1st July, nothing much will be confirmed before such date.

Stoner - Firstly, I always stated that my gut feeling was that he would end up at PSG, not that he was going, as none of us knew. Secondly, the above are simply my thoughts based upon current reports. They are to be discussed, but this constant effort to put people down is simply pointless. Try making constructive comments, which are far more interesting to read.

{Ed002's Note - Because contracts run until June 30.}

02 Jun 2017 00:14:28
Sorry if this sound ignorant or annoys you (as it is not intending to) but how have city signed silva?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window is not open yet.}

02 Jun 2017 00:45:50
City technically haven't signed Silva. They have "registered" him.

Technically he's still a Monaco player until his contract expires on June 30th. Than they can officially sign him.

Don't know how true it is (Maybe Ed's can clarify) , Atletico's ban is until Jan 1st 2018, but they can still sign players (Lacazette) .
It just means the player can't play until ban is officially over.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not quite that simple but they could do that, yes - and the ban runs out in a year not 6 months.}
