If we have any chance of Cecs coming back, Wenger needs to be the man in charge. Without Wenger, I don't think Cecs will come.

Hope vela and villa join tho.

Eds, any news on Juilo Ceaser? {Ed027's Note - None mate, a return to Italy is most likely, I know I backed him to come, as it would just be the best fit imo, experienced GK, who also gives time for Shezza to break through and learn a load

Even though as Gooners we should give Lakerville moral support, he is getting hammered in every argument.

Ed, is there any chance of seeing hamsik move away from Napoli this summer, if so, what teams are interested?

Santi missing TOTY is a joke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didnt Carrick make it?

I've looked at the stats, if Carrick made it, then why not Arteta? Arteta has better stats than him in just about every area.

If Carrick were at Arsenal and Arteta were at Utd, I'm not so sure Carrick would be in TOTY.

Nick.

Nick.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you kidding me?! Carrick has been sensational all season. Fully deserved place. If anything he should have been closer for POTY.

Cazorla missing out for Hazard is an absolute disgrace though.

Madrid is my second favorite team. Pipa Higuain is my favorite player on that team w Ramos.

As a 19 yr old, he put that team on his back and led them to titles his first two years.

From a kid, I watched him become the first choice Argentina number 9.

If he joins Spuds, I'm not sure I could handle it. It would be devastating. I'd never be able to watch him play in that awful shirt.

I know God hates me, hence he made me a Cleveland sports fan. I've had to watch all the Arsenal stars leave for greener pastures, as much as it sickens me.

If Higuain joins Spuds, I might as well give up on footy. Clearly I'm the bad luck charm. If Higuain joins Spuds, all our losing is my fault as the powers that be clearly hate me.

Rant over

I very much doubt it will happen.

I would love to see Carlos Vela back as he is now a completely different player. I have seen several Real Sociadad games and he has been brilliant in each game. He has bulked up a lot and has been playing a free roll and causing chaos amongst opposing defences. I saw him play last weekend against Valencia and he was responsible for at least 2 of the goals in a 4-2 win.

Greetings fellow Gooners and Eds,

Fabregas seems to be the topic of debate today, and rightly so. He is a brilliant player, is still young, and apparently still loves us and would be open to coming back to play for us at some point.

While this is all good news, I feel as though we do not really need him at the moment. We have jack, ramsey, and santi who play in his position, and the Ox prefers to play through the middle as well as opposed to on the flanks. I think there are more pressing needs elsewhere, although I do think in 2-3 years time we could see Fabregas make a return.

I think we need a true out-and-out winger, preferably one who can play either wing, as wenger likes forwards who can play all along the front of the 4-3-3. But I think we are missing that versatile winger who can beat a defender around the outside and whip in an accurate cross, as well as cut inside and create a pass or have a shot at goal.

I think another obvious need for us is a strong and scary DM (we all know the names, I would like Wanyama) who can sit back and help out the back four and allow jack ramsey and santi to get in more advanced positions.

I think we need another CB since we're losing djourou and squilacci (thank god lol) and I personally would like us to see if we could get Micah Richards on the cheap as he can play both CB and RB. He is an Arsenal fan and when he is healthy is an absolute beast.

And although I believe in Sczeczny and want him as our number 1 I agree that we should bring in an experienced GK who can mentor, advise, and compete with him.

Lots of gooners think we need a new striker but I respectfully disagree. I like giroud and would like to see him and podolski rotate at striker and bring in pacey wingers instead. Someone made the point about scott sinclair which I like since he never gets played at city and we might be able to get him cheap.

Everyone is saying we have Jovetic in the bag I don't believe anything until it's on arsenal.com we have been let down too many times in the past. But I do think we will spend money this summer, how much depends on champions league qualification.

Thoughts and opinions please,
Peace,

Hello Trinidad.
I agree with the majority of what you say. The only things I disagree on is I would love an out and out goal scorer. Someone who just finishes what we create. Secondly about Micah. As a player I would definately take him, but only if he's a player and not a patient. The last thing we need is to spend on a player for him then to spend his time on the treatment bench. So any talk of him coming would really have to depend on his injury, so therefore I would try somewhere else.
Your spot on about a winger. I would go for Belhanda. Has speed, trickery and had a very good relationship with Giroud when they played together. Ideal.
All the best Trinidad

You are dead right about wingers. Look at the effectiveness of Ribera and Robben when they stay out wide and get behind the defence. And how Barca didn't last night -:) I remember we used to do that when we were winning titles and cups. Ljunberg and Pires have never been effectively replaced and we changed systems instead.

Agree0 Disagree0

I find it highly unlikely they will sell cesc. the very fact they play him upfront when messi is not playing, underlined his importance ahead of strikers such as villa and sanchez and pedro.

the reliance on messi has been astonishing, also their finishing was beyond poor and their defense is unworthy to deride school boys.

this end of an era is just journalism crap. everything dies the next day for them, as will bayern if they win the title and fail to defend it.

motivation and desire and fitness and teamwork and coaching and mentality all go hand in hand. after the first leg, and no messi, the game was over before it begun. I did not even watch the game, I was aware bayern was going to win or draw.

we should applaud barcelona for increasing our awareness and want of standards instead of mocking a team that has won 3 champions league titles in 6 years, and countless other trophies. I do not like them, due to their nature of business with us, but they deserve respect. ( crazy lazy journalism)

Also i'm more interested in transfer news more at home. not sure what new names have popped up, but its clear with higuain now in the loop, the striker market just got interesting.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the responses guys,

Flybo, some interesting thoughts and I would definitely be in favour of that too. But are you saying that by bringing in an out-and-out goal scorer that you would like to leave podolski out on the LW? Or do you want us to change our formation and play with 2 strikers? Because it is my opinion that if we bring in an awesome winger that podolski could be that goal poacher that we are looking for. I think he is definitely our most clinical finisher on the team right now.

And I hear ya about Richards. The last thing we need is another player with injury problems. I just like the idea of the move because I think he's awesome and would make us more solid at the back (when he's healthy). But Jenkinson gets the nod for me that kid has heart.

Onwards we march!

Agree0 Disagree0

First things first, Podolski is not a L. W, completely agree with you Trinidad. So what of him upfront? It's a tricky one. I can't see him winning the ball in the air or hold the ball up on his own like a drogba (propably an unfair comparison as he was world class in that position, an absolute beast) and doesn't have a great deal of pace to get behind defences.
So what about him in a two. Could work, but then you sacrifice a man in the middle. Can we afford to do that, I'm not so sure. How about two upfront, keep five in the middle, but play a three at the back? Wenger has never tried that during his reign and can't see him doing it anytime soon.
What I'm trying to say on the Podolski issue is "I haven't got a bloody clue".
This season Podolski has been subbed or been a sub due to an ankle injury. I fear next season will be the same, but due to the fact he is neither one thing nor the other.

Hi ed's.

Higuain is on his way out of madrid. Any chance he will join Arsenal?

also, do you know off any arsenal interest in QPR players like remy or samba?

Thanks for your inputs. It's much appreciated {Ed027's Note - I don't know and I doubt it, Remy has been a target in the past but we have interest elsewhere

Fact is Cesc is arguably the best mid-fielder Arsenal has ever had or will have, no matter how talented Jack is he will never be Cesc in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned he has more Arsenal DNA then Barca's. The only positive he has had at Barca is his combination with Messi, other then that he has really tried to force things. So would I take him back, with in heart beat.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd agree with wing one if the best midfielder we ever had and he did lie arsenal, he only left to join his boyhood club an at the time the best team that has ever exsisted it was motivated by money, easily have him back in heart beat

With the cesc rumour going around, made me think. Did Barcelona pay all the money in one go or was it split over time? If it was in instalments then wouldn't Barcelona knock off what they owe arsenal should arsenal make a bid?

Also I'd like to think wenger will bite the bullet and jump head first into the transfer market this summer and sign Benteke, Micah Richards, kolo toure? And fernando Gago

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Reckon Benteke could easily be a one yr wonder, Micah Richards is notr a great bet fitness wise and Kolo has had his dayt-don't think he ever really got back to best after that serious Malaria bout. If we do go shopping I think we should set our sights a bit higher all round,

Who do the people out their think is better, welbeck or podolski. I am having this argument with one of my mates at school (I am in year 10, ) and he says welbeck, but I think Podolski. Thoughts please

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Obviously Podolski, 100+ caps for Germany and solid goals and assists in his first season in England. Also hos goals against West Ham and Montpellier were world class. Welbeck has only scored two or three goals this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lu lu lukas podolski

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering this is an Arsenal page I imagine everyone will say Podolski.

Even taking the bias away though Podolski is a country mile ahead of Welbeck. Welbeck's stats are quite shocking considering he is playing as a striker/winger for Manchester United. 2 goals in 39 appearences against Podolski's 14 in 39.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski is definitely better than Welbeck. Podolski has 108 international caps and 44 international goals which is a ratio of 1 goal every 2. 45 games. Welbeck has 16 international caps and 5 international goals which is a ratio of 1 goal every 3. 2 games. Also this season in the Premiership, Podolski has scored 9 goals and assisted 9 goals whereas Welbeck has 1 goal and 4 assists. There is literally no comparison between them!
Tim Taylor

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck is 5 years younger to podolski.

but if its just goal stats. as a striker, at man utd, in 102 appearances he has scored 19, compared to 30 app to 9 goals for poldi

. 18 goals per game to welbeck compared to. 3 goals per game to poldi.

cant really compare players like that due to the system they play in the requirements from that position in the system and so on.

welbeck is a pacey player, poldi is a technical player. and many other differentiating attributes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski without a doubt.

Nick.

Agree0 Disagree0

Both are equally bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its easy welbeck is crap so podolski it is
Ali

Agree0 Disagree0

Wellbeck is a very good player, if you think he is crap you must have your head in a bucket.

These are realistic targets for the positions we need to strengthen:

GK-Mignolet/Ruffier/Adler
RB-Corchia/Janmaat
CB-N'Kalou/Howedes
CDM-Capoue/Wanyama/Song/Gonolans
Wingers-Griezman/Munian
ST-Aubamayang/Jovetic/Remy

This would make us serious contenders!

My picks would be

Ruffier, Janmaat, Howedes, Capoue, Munian, Jovetic

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont think we will sign a RB, CB and DM (unless Verm goes). We might buy two players who can cover those positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good list of players.

Not sure Munian and Jovetiv are realistic to be honest. they are pricey.

Also, I see 3-4 players max.
GK
Defender (depends on sagna)
CM/DM

i see cesc dividing people's opinions here. if he were available in the summer, which I doubt will happen, i'd take him back. why? simply because he's class, clearly better than any of our current players. let's be honest, do we have a chance to sign any other player of his calibre? no. cesc is a passing machine. he can provide accurate game changing passes in every game, something cazorla, jack and rosicky all lack. he's playing in an unorthodox position for barca but don't let it deceive, he can still open up any defence in the world.

the need for cesc may not be that big than it's for a striker or a defensive midfielder, but here's definitely a place for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Carzola doesn't lack game changing passes. carzola lacks strikers that know to run behind defenders so that he can make those defense splitting and game changing passes.
iwarutis

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesc is the youngest player ever in pl to reach 100 assists and has one of the best games to assist ratios ever, I'd have him back in an instance

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilshere and Cazorla > Cesc IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Would take Cesc back in an instant (wont happen though). If we got him and a proper DM I'm sure we could fit two of Cesc, Jack and Cazorla in midfield together and they could rotate. Again won't happen though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fabregas walked out on the club, despite being captain and having 3 seasons left on his contract. Thanks, but no thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not have all 3, in a 4-3-3, with walcott on 1 wing, Pod thru the middle, and Jovetic on the other wing. Now THAT would be Class (with a capital C)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we could sell cazorla if we got cesc back. to someone with loads of money. I would then play Wilshere and hopefully Kondogbia or Wanyama. Then have cesc in behind the striker Jovetic

Agree0 Disagree0

Barcelona got barcelonad
they're a one man team and are finished they will have to rebuild a new team around song and fabregas. lol.
Totally humiliated I hope certain arrogant players in their team realise the sun don't shine out of their a**e and show manlove to any arsenal players romancing them to wear the barcelona shirt again
Hats off to bayern. class personified. didn't we beat them 2-0
