Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

Just been reading fans from other clubs reaction to a journalist article about us, very complimentary from vast majority and many saying if it can't be their team to win the league then they hope its us.

Well done Arsene and the team how far you have brought us in such a short time since the Vila game. Thank you we are once again admired by the real fans of the game.

Good post, as always, G62. well said

cant wait for cazorla to come back. santi, mesut, aaron, jack and theo. what a midfield.
ouch, just realised something, flamini is a definite starter.
i'm going to think the unthinkable and risk the wrath of a thousand fellow gooners. I think jack wilshere should be dropped. he's a bit off form at the moment and I think still carrying an injury.
so, my midfield is now. santi, mesut, aaron, mathieu flamini and theo.any objections?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

DG you have dared to go where most won't accept and you are 100% right mate. We all know how good Jack is but to be the best he can be, the same rules must apply to him
as all else. Our MF is the best in the league if not Europe and he has to earn his place in it not have it through right, and he will no question, just as Aaron has.

One rule for all

Agree0 Disagree0

That is for the first time in a long time a really nice problem to have in many respects I wouldn't like to be Wenger as when they are all fit its going to be tricky to give them all games.

Cazorla (LW) Ozil (Wherever he wants to play) Walcott (RW) - All three to interchange, Ramsey and Flamini centrally that has to be my first choice, that being said our second and third choice ain't too shabby either!

Gnabry (RW) Podolski (LW) The OX (AM) Arteta and Wilshere centrally

and then we have Rosicky, Diaby, and Miyachi. I don't see Podolski playing much on the left anymore though with the purchase of Ozil I see him playing through the middle in the cup games, and lesser teams in the league so that Giroud can get a breather. I wonder if when all our midfielders are fit if Theo will get some games through the middle also so that Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky et al get some game time as well

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, thank you my friend. i'm a huge admirer of jack but, for whatever reason, he is not playing too well this season. yes, he's still carrying a bit of an injury and you have to allow for that.
I also think he has too much weight put on his shoulders by the media, eg, "he's the best CM in england and the national team should be built around him". he's still only young and learning his trade.
Now that ozil is here and theo and santi come back from injury I think that should take some of the attention away from Jack and he can concentrate more on his game without too much expected from him.
Just my opinion and probably not an opinion shared by many on this site. but what the heck lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Jack is just another player on our team. he should have to earn his spot just like anyone else. and the truth is ozil and ramsey have justified their starting spots over the last few games, arteta or flamini are the holders, walcott is our speedster on the wing, so basically it comes down to cazorla or wilshere? let's be honest cazorla right now is significantly better than wilshere.

But with this said if jack wants his place back he will have to earn it through better performances

This is such a great thing for arsenal. the proverbial "BAR" is being pushed up!!

Come on you GOONERS, work hard and know you have no one to fear this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Jack will be unbelievably good and it won't be too long coming, so who is going to allow him allow him take to their place then lads? Mid field competition doesn't come any tougher than this :-)

And to think this time last year we were all desperate to see him rushed back from injury! How far we have come in 12 months

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't like the termed "dropped" - its not like he's regularly been a certain starter. For the moment he's a squad player (a very good one at that) who needs to rediscover form and full fitness which will come. But having him on the bench is hardly dropping him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Team first. Wilshere knows this. The fact we are even discussing this is a positive. It isn't the first XI who win the league it is the replacements. Wilshere may not be guaranteed a start right now - but he has a huge role to play this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cazorla is injured so how is he better than jack right now? Both jack and Santi will need rotation to get 100% fitness so expect both to be getting around the same game time.

Jacks said he's happy to fight for his place and it will make him a better player.

Absolutely fantasic preformance by the lads last night and did anyone else notice that Wenger looks about 5 - 10 years younger lol

Great time to be a gooner :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I couldn't agree more. Although many of us were critical of Wenger, it just shows how much passion he has for the club. I hope he will make at least one more world class signing in the January window.

Banter Please Ed's

We all know we need a back up striker and we should all know by now that the best players are never available in January. That being said what if we went and got Adebayor on loan or 18 month contract in January as we all know he isn't wanted at the enemy. He isn't well liked at the Emirates due to his actions however he is proven in the Premier League, won't cost us a fortune and will give us that extra cover until the summer when we can go and look seriously at a striker. Whether we like to admit it or not he kept Mr PurseStrings out of the team prior to his leaving and did score goals for us and with our midfield I think they could even make Mr HighOpinionOfHimself look good just a thought and potential option. What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd rather play Bendtner. We also have Podolski who is probably more likely to play centrally when he returns given the number of attacking mids we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't ever wanna see that bloke in an Arsenal shirt again. That run up the pitch after scoring for some Middlesex team showed what he thought of us. Sorry go away never darken our wonderful club again. Plus he ain't good enough for the shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

When spurs have him training in the reserves it shows what they think of him.

He's terrible as a player and even worse of a human being. I hate him and I'm sure everyone that supports arsenal feel the same way.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would hate us to get Rooney or bite boy as feel both are great players but horrible people who would ruin out team spirit in a week but! I would drive and pick both or either up, pay the petrol out of my own pocket and tell them how fantastic they were all the way to London the long way round via Scotland if need be rather than have him back. Just the thought of it is horrible

Agree0 Disagree0

No no no no no no no. and never

If we win 5 more on the trot then we will beat our own record of 14 back to back victories!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we win 5 more on the trot HG I think I will be even harder to live with than I am now. My missus reckons if she suggested an early night and Arsene was giving a run of the mill interview she would go to bed alone. She's being a bit dramitc I think as I would record it, but if he was talking about our next game being our 14th straight win? I wouldn't be tired any way :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

G62. you are a man after my own heart lol. we are cut from the same cloth

It's been a few years since I've been able to go to college every day with a beaming smile and been able to butt in on football conversations and talk about how good we are.

Thank you Arsenal, I love you.

have to say we have had a great start to the season, but let's not fool ourselves just yet! records might show that after the international break we usually start our annual down fall from mid October to usually mid January our results are all over the place, maybe it's the change in temperatures during that time, harder pitches or just bad luck I don't know but it always happened, let's hope with the over all confidence running through the squad we can put this behind us this year!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It'll be interesting to see how ozil deals with the British winter for the first time. {Ed001's Note - you do realise it gets a lot colder in Germany than it ever does here, don't you?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol @ Eds reply

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I think Akie meant he will be even better come such a mild winter, well that's what I've chosen to believe you meant Akie. But then again, I've been in a really good mood since the window closed and it keeps getting better and better so I'm happy to take a bullet for a fellow Gooner right now

Agree0 Disagree0

I lived and worked in Frankfurt for 3 years, and Ed001 is absolutely right, the winters are colder and longer(well it felt like it).I think Mesut will be ok.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont ze germans break for winter in the bundesliga?

Agree0 Disagree0

He's been playing in Spain remember, although I know Madrid is a little colder than down here on the costa.

Having just watched the game as working last night got to agree with everyone else. Awesome.

It's not just our attacking play it's that we really do look hard to beat.

Have to take my hat off to them all but in particular Flamini, what a model professional, no real pre season and how many 90 minutes in a row is that for us now.

Big big games ahead of us but we can't of dreamed of a better start with the added bonus it will soon become a fight to make our bench and they'll all want to be a part of it.

That's how it starts.

Be warned ALL

WBA will be a different kettle of fish, 3pts in the PL is never a given

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As utd know only to well, the tittle is won and lost against the Swansea and West broms not the so called 6 pointer's against close rivals

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Oct 2013 10:29:50
Fantastic performance and result well done lads and Sir Arsene, again!

Next two games are massive for confidence as well as points, if we beat west brom Sunday it sends us into the international break with massive belief in ourselves and all desperate to get back to their real job.

Then its Norwich at home first game back and we have to get straight back where we left off, not always an easy thing to when you all spent the last 10 days doing things differently and the options have had two weeks to get ready for this match.

But 6 pts from these two and I think we are along way to showing ourselves to be well and truly BACK!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62 totally agree mate. let's keep the feelgood factor rolling

great comment in paper today.
ozil is worth the £42m arsene spent on him and soon aaron ramsey could be in the same price range. never thought I would hear that.loving it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

DG we are all loving it mate, its nice for us all to read, hear and write great stuff about our beloved Arsenal and our players again. It's been a long time coming (well feels it:-) but I don't care now its here.

THIS IS OUR TIME
I am chuffed to bits for Ramsey he has worked so hard for this and I so hope he scores the goal that seals the tittle come early March! OK mid April then if the lads wanna drag it out a bit :-)

I think in recent years we have always had players that people would love to play along side (cese, nazri, hleb and rvp) But this season it seems to me this season we have players that people would not like to play against! Flamini, rambo, oliver and kos!

the signing of ozil was massive, so was getting in Flamini, also IMO the clear out of dead wood has brought the squad closer together. And on top of that we didn't lose any players that we wanted to keep.
Just hope we sign a CF in the January window and may be 4th choice CB.

OH and i'm going to see the mighty gunners in the flesh at the baggies this weekend.

COYG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very good post brummygun. totally agree with you my friend

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post brummy. Now the dead wood has be cleared out the coaching staff can give more time to those who deserve it {Ed044's Note - It is a pity to see so little respect for the club that you see Arsenal staff as "dead wood".}

Agree0 Disagree0

It also has to be said that last year Ramsey, Sagna and Rosicky were considered `deadwood` by a lot of posters.

Awesome. Great start to the season, hopefully we can get the injured players back swiftly and make at least one, if not two world class signings in January.
Well done to Wenger & Ramsey, whom many of us were critical of.

Mr Wenger

This is what happens when you spend some money to buy quality, you get quality and it lifts up the whole team. I hope you repent being stubborn stingy person the last so many years but as long as it is lesson learnt for you we will let it slide.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I feel its time the truth was told on this.
Arsene is a very passionate collector of garden gnomes and 7 years ago his prijze gnome was kidnapped.
The gnome nappers were a cruel bunch who forced him to play Almunia in all games and then buy chamack and gevinnio plus other unspeakable things, humiliatingly horrible things like tactics and such were forced upon him.
Well thankfully interpol rescued the gnome in early September and Arsene was once again free to be his brilliants self and do all the right things all the time just as he did before,
I hope this helps to be a little more forgiving and now look forward not back. THE FUTURES BRIGHT THE FUTURE IS ARSENAL

Ashish,

I'm afraid this is the kind of post I'd expect to see from an ignorant Manc or Spud. A fan with no appreciation behind the reasons we have not been able to spend.

The massive strides the club has made during that period and just simply what Mr Wenger has achieved whilst under those constraints.

Hang your head in shame mate. Very very poor post!

Agree0 Disagree0

He has proved it was not that he did not want to spend, but he did not have that amount to spend.

the emirates plan was 5 years and we can compete with the big boys, but with business nothing goes to plan. 4 years over the time period and we have significant cash.

i still think we are far away from winning even thou we are no1.

the nov schedule looks like it will be testing. not to forget december. and if at the end of that period we are top 4, with a 5-6 game +/- difference we can consider ourselves as being in the title hunt.

however we do need to buy in january, as I expect Manchester United and liverpool and even spurs to be busy.

top 4 has never been so difficult.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ashish, I will agree with you on that one mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said The Gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

Lakerville I can't help but feel a lot more loads of more optimistic than you me old mate, I totally respect your view and even understanding it but just can't agree with it this time. I am so looking forward to Nov just can wait . as for who finishes where at the end of the season its much less about how you do against the other top 4 or 5 the counts most come May, its the other 28 games where you don't slip up that really matters . I just want to beat the others for pure enjoyment more than the points

Agree0 Disagree0

That should have read "disagree"

Agree0 Disagree0

Well gents if we can beat west brom away. feeling optimistic. then I think we could actually put up a real fight.

as wenger said, one game at a time, and I think we should think the same way.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure you and the boss are right Lakerville one game at a time is the right and professional way to approach things.

For me it's just that ever since we signed Ozil I am absolutely full of optimism and belief again, like a kid who just found out about Disney world ( and I'm 51 yrs old, )

Although judging by the teams reaction and performances i'm not alone:-) :-) :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62, that's an awesome explanation :-) Some one must have really turned the screws on him for some of the signings (Silvestre!).

The Gunner, shame on you that you can't handle viewpoints which are not in line with your thinking.

Also Lakerville, 5 year plans do not finish in the 9th year :-) Where are you coming up with these numbers anyway? Heinz sauce?

what a result and what a performance. first half unbelievable. don't want to single out any one player because they were all outstanding.
top of the table but a long way to go. the double header against dortmund will be vital, points can be won and lost but if we keep this run going our confidence will be sky high.
ps what a goal by ozil

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't want to single out players, but Ramsey was unbelievable.

02 Oct 2013 10:45:08
I loved it on sly when the commentator said one £40 million pound midfielder and another playing like a £40 million pound midfielder. Brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

Two or three points from the next two group games will probably be 90% there. I'd fancy us at home in our last game whatever.

Signing of the season flamini for me an absolute beast that man loves a tackle. Proud of everyone tonight that German lad he don't look too bad either ;) as always proud to be a gooner.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to agree, Flamini has made a HUGE difference, I moaned when we got him but he gives us something different in midfield

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey Flamini Ozil take ya pick for best signing, OK Aaron ain't a new signing but he sure looks it.
Oh and I have to mention Szczesney who the last couple of games hasn't done anything crazy and made good stops too, I'm not ready to say he's won me other but if he can do it in next 5 or 6 games I will be ready to eat all the humble pie he and his family can cook, buy or find in skips to give me
