Well it's finally over!

Delighted with Ozil but still feel we are a bit short

Fantastic signing is Ozil, absolutely delighted.

Add a couple of good squad players in Jan and a couple of class players next summer and we can start to build a PL title squad.

Amazing signing in Mesut Özil. A superb top player, and more will come in the future transfer windows. Nice to see that Arsenal can still attract one of the greatest players at this time

That is what this signing does shows the football world that we mean business and want to become serious contenders for the big prizes again.

O.K we maybe did not need another AM really and a CB and CF are still needed, but don't underestimate the influence this signing may now have on attracting other top players in the near future.

Put it this way opposing mangers will be having nightmares trying to stop the combined creative force of Ozil, Cazorla and Wilshire in the same team.

Yep all official now. Even though we perhaps did not need another AM It makes a strong statement that Arsenal are still a big ambitious club that can still attract top players. Hopefully other top players will now see Arsenal as an attractive club to go to and we can go from strength to strength.

Ozil is incredible, world class in fact imo. You've done well there. My question is though, would that money have been better spent on different positions? For me, you are a solid goalkeeper, centre back, defensive midfielder and a 25-30 goal striker short of a serious title challenge. I highly doubt you will get any of those now which is surely a bit disappointing? So while Ozil is brilliant, a major coup and will improve your team, I can't help but think it's a smoke screen to cover the fact you haven't addressed the major issues.
I mean, attacking midfield is probably your strongest area with Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky, Ox & now Ramsey coming on to a game as well. Even Arteta is a creative player although he seems to play deeper for you.

So, is Ozil REALLY needed? Or just a welcome, yet unneccessary luxury to appease disgruntled Gooners? Interested to know your thoughts on this!

I hear you on that one but the guy is class. flamini, although not exactly what most people gunners wanted, is still an awesome player, very disciplined and warrior like, he should sit nicely in front of the back 4.
yes, we do need a top class goalie but the guy we signed on loan might, just might do the trick.
I guess, with our midfield and attack we will just have to outscore whoever we play lol

Yes you can argue we did not need another AM an area were we are already strong. This does however now make a big statement that Arsenal are serious about attracting top players and becoming contenders again. This will hopefully mean other top players will now take notice of his and make us more of a attractive option. This could be the start of something big for Arsenal.

Getting ozil will be amazing don't get me wrong, but mata is in talks with psg WTF this man is class proven in the prem, would fit in with carzola, arteta, whilshere a dream would only cost £30m which would save us £12m so we could get Ashley Williams and I'm affraid mata and Williams would be better then ozil for that money. A world class centre back, a world class defensive mid (pleased we got Flamini always liked him but not quite Lars Bender or Gustavo) an experienced world class keeper Schez can learn from and be challenged by and a striker like oh Higuain (Ba ok but not marquee).

Oizil / Di Maria potential signings may have been held up by Bale but other business should have been done early.

Last day signings is a high risk strategy, you can get gazzumped and be left with nothing and no time to remedy it.

Mata or Di Maria . who would you prefer given the chance?

IMO . Juan Mata everytime. Class player, proven ability and PL experience and after the treatment he is getting at Chelski, something to prove

Lets get Juan and Ozil and think we will all be happy bunnies

Di Maria would start for Spain every match without question

Di Maria, mata is too similar to Cazorla and (assuming he signs) Ozil whereas Di Maria is a different type of player.

Mata is brilliant, fantastic. But Di Maria is the easy choice here.

So few players with his skill sets available on the wings, which is where we need some strengthening.

Besides, we have Cazorla who was more efficient then Mata in the same role last season (his first in England don't forget)

Although I think Mata is the better player, Di Maria is more of what we need, an out and out winger to bring width.

Assuming Ozil signs (please God), I think he and Mata are quite similar IMO.

If we get Mesut Ozil I would have to hand it to Wenger, that would be pure class. As someone who has been left devastated by this transfer window and how bad it has been run. I would forgive most of it and wait all over again. He really is a World Class player. Compared to Lamela for 30m, its good. Half of Bale's price and he is more than half the player.

I wouldn't be that annoyed if we didn't sign any more. Although I really think we need another decent striker, a different option someone with a bit of pace who can dribble past players. But I do think Giroud deserve's to be number one.

Flamini is a decent signing. Not who I wanted, but he did add something different to us strengthened us and gave a good performance straight away. Showed leadership couldn't have asked for more.

A winger is less important as I think Cazorla will play there more.

Any more over Ozil and a backup striker. Is just a positive. Back up keeper I don't think is that necessary. Fabianski is a decent second. If we wanted a keeper should have bought a quality one. I've never seen this guy play so I'll hold judgement till then.

I still think we need another CB or maybe a DM that can cover for the CB position. We only have 3 distinct CB's and with TV still getting back to fitness we are short. Yes Sagna can cover CB but I rather keep him at RB.

If we could find a clone for Kos.
I would be more than happy.

Yeah I do agree I think we missed out on Sakho and Alderweid they both would have been good and relatively cheap. A defensive midfielder is only a priority now because of Arteta's injury if we can bring in a quality one like Bender fine if not I'd rather wait till January or next year and buy a really good one.

And from the Twelve Pins to the Clock End from 1:30 through 6:30 I couldn't hear myself think. It wasn't the greatest performance but what an atmosphere. Not a rumour, But Otto Knows, A very famous swedish DJ whom is good friends with Ozil, has posted on twitter "welcome to Arsenal Bro". Hopefully he is in the know.

BBC reporter Ben Smith claims that Manchester United are "definitely not in for Ozil".

I think today every one of us, will be a bit thinner on top, a bit blinder from looking at computer and tv screens and still as mystified as we have been all transfer window. :)

We are going to sign two players I think, but I doubt they will be the players we as fans desire. Ozil and Di Maria? If we pull this off I will run from my house to the Emirates (with a few breaks for CPR LOL!) in my birthday suit, with my arsenal scarf covering the meat and veg and a Wenger mask on!

Moyes said yesterday he saw enough in his squad to not be overly bothered about signings. So I don't see why they would now all of a sudden go in for our targets, doesn't make sense. I haven't heard anything more on the supposed £38 mil bid made for Fellaini and Baines, seems Everton are mulling it over or trying to find decent replacements (I could be wrong).

But I largely suspect that after the odds have dropped so dramatically on Ozil joining Arsenal it's bookies putting the rumour about so they get a few quid put down on the Ozil - Manchester United transfer.

I don't think many top top players would want to join Manchester United this season, barring the Swansea game I don't think Manchester United have looked that good at all this season, they've put pressure on without really looking as they will score.

This is just my opinion, but if Ozil moves I say it would be to us.

All summer long they have complained that we need signings. A bid for undoubtedly one of europes best talents and they criticize it.

Wake up people we have a small but good squad and with an injection of pure class and with arteta, ox, pod and eventually diaby to come back. Flamini who may not be Vieira but who doesn't neglect his defensive duties and puts himself about. Would maybe like to see cabaye come in because it is going to be a long season and I would be excited about abel hernandez. Gives us something different to Giroud and because of Palermo's relegation could be a cheap one

Those who we need defensive midfielder. We have Arteta, Ramsey, Flamini, Diaby, and Frimpong on that department. Plus TV can also play in that position.
we are all wrong to point out who Wenger should buy, he can recognize a talent more than anyone of us.

Arteta is make shift(naturally a playmaker), Ramsey is a box to box mid, Diaby is always injured(glass knees), Frimpong is too young and inexperienced but Flamini is good business

We all know Wenger can recognise talent but the problem over the last couple of years is sealing the deal(s). We are thin on the ground and have a bench of potential rather than proven game changers and no scope for real rotation. Finally, we're missing a true genius who can make the difference at the highest level, against the best teams or when we're looking for inspiration when a team 'parks the bus'. An Henry, a Messi, a Ronaldo type. Get one of those and a couple of proven winners down the spine and this team will be credible challengers this year.
