Flamini scores the goal that seals the tittle in early April and a better hatrick wins the champions league and mourinho and avb carry Arsene through the sheets of London on their shoulder's. I can see it all now, that's the plan

Non arsenal post but i'm interested in knowing.

If a player that played in the Super Cup tonight were to be transferred. Would they be cup tied? Or does the Super Cup not count in terms of players being cup tied for Europe?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Super cup? super crap who gives a s**t! worthless nonsense!

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I know it's kind of similar to the community shield and so you can't be cup tied.

Agree0 Disagree0

Supermac, do you not find it weird that the super cup should be a massive occasion between the 2 european champions but feels nothing more than a gloryfied friendly.

I have a feeling Wenger's off next Summer and he's keeping the cash for his successor, which is personic as we'll not finish top 4 with our current squad. So any new manager won't have the best players eager to join. Now or never.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Been hearing that for the last two years, sadly never happens :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's it, destroy the club utterly, then when you leave say look how much money I left you?

How can Liverpool be going after Sakho publically and we can't?

Even with Champion's League to offer this season, players are seeing clubs like Spurs and Liverpool and thinking they're more ambitious than us, planning for next season and they will have a higher chance of getting 4th spot than us.

I'm not angry, I'm thoroughly disappointed and upset. Feel really let down.

I don't see any top notch signings coming in and totally fed up with marketing man Ivan's cheap soundbites.

If Real Madrid agree to keep the Bale deal quiet to let you know who buy a bunch of quality players on the cheap, why wouldn't they negotiate with us about Di Maria et al - at the same time - on the quiet? Makes not sense.

Flamini is no consolation.

Hope I'm wrong.

Just watched wengers latest interview: and FINEALLY has admitted to players coming in, when asked if players were close to coming in, he would normally say no or won't say anything but finally said YES! Pinch me I'm dreaming so players are on there way, don't no who still but were getting some. Have faith gunners

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's good to hear. Where did you hear about this AK?

Agree0 Disagree0

Finally someone who actually watched the interview!
jorno will players be coming in?
wenger . smiles! yes!

Agree0 Disagree0

Where can I find the interview?

You can understand my scepticism haha :)

Agree0 Disagree0

You keep dreaming!

Agree0 Disagree0

I saw it too.

There is NOT going to be any new signings. I really don't know what is happening. Is AW really the only one who believes that WE will compete for anything this year? Every day now I read spurs are signing a new very good player and WE do nothing. Does he (AW) really believes players like Gnabry or Zelalem can do for a cover and outplay the rest of EPL or Europe? I say if WE lose on sunday bring on a wheel-barrel put AW, IG and SK and out out out!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2013 21:15:16
Either AW does not rate the likes of Erickson - Paulinho - Soldado - ect or we are all being duped by our once great club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Paulinho and Soldado are both top class, and I would have loved them both in the Arsenal jersey. But to be honest, living in Denmark I watch Christian Eriksen a LOT, and he's not good enough for Arsenal at all. He is not on the level of Cazorla and Wilshere, and even Ramsey (who has been top class lately) is way better!

I just watched sly sports with wenger he said we are nearer to signings, i'm taking that as positive just wondered eds or anyone who has a clue who is available on a free because were spending zilch this summer.seriously getting pizzed off

Good evening guys. Final stages of the transfer window coming up. You might be feeling pretty miserable at the moment but fans at Man U are not too happy either.

My team is Liverpool and whilst we started the window brightly things have stalled and the fiasco over Suarez has been an unwelcome distraction.

Our number 7 was never going to be sold to you as John Henry knows that if we are to have a chance at top 4 we cannot strengthen a rival side.

The next few days are going to be pretty important. Latest information is that we may be getting Llori and Sakho who are both big targets of ours. If we get these two through the Anfield Gates we could be having big smiles.

Whilst the spurs have stolen most of the limelight the thought is that a few of their buys might not cut in the EPL and that they could disappoint given the expectation levels that have been generated.

We on the other hand look to have bought pretty sensibly. Kolo Toure could be one of the best signings this season and we now look to have got a top keeper in Mignolet.

It is now down to Arsene to bring home the bacon. If you do not get a couple of players in who can improve your first 11 then your rivals will be smelling blood and you could really be on that slippery path out of top 4 contention that we had to endure when we had the Hicks and Gillett clowns in charge.

We are getting our act together and Spurs have clearly marked out their intentions. If you don't respond by Monday evening you might find that the pendulum has swung and once the momentum shifts you could spiral down to place 5 or 6 very quickly.

Obviously things can change quickly and we could miss out on our defensive targets and you could bring in Ozil and Rooney and then all bets are off.

It is going to be squeaky bum time soon. Best wishes to you as I hope that you can keep ahead of the spurs as they just do not have your class and heritage.

But if Arsene does not get the job done in the next few days you might just be giving us the chance we need to get back into the top 4 and there is a growing confidence at Anfield that we are ready to take that chance with both hands.

i work in the kitchens at the emirates and all sorts of comings and goings have been happening today at the rear entrance. i'm sure I saw Kaka driving the veg truck, it was him or a doppleganger. Later on saw Mata in overalls collecting rubbish with Alexis Sanchez, then in the afternoon a late delivery of meat delivered by Julio Cesar and Benzema. Wenger was there in the loading bay to meet them, they were doing situps and press ups and short sprints up the canteen corridor. This is the gospel truth, i' told by one of the cleaners that all five signed and sealed and ready for Sunday. In Arsene we trust, indeed.

Let me simplify it for you my fellow Gooners.
If tomorrow the 2 biggest jobs in the football management opened up, England and Real Madrid.
I wonder who they would appoint, Lambert, Rijkaard whoever else!
Or Wenger.
Just bloody think aboutout it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Since when has England became one of the top two managerial jobs?

Agree0 Disagree0

That's wishful thinking if only there was a vacancy then we could all move on including you.

Agree0 Disagree0

International management would suit AW as he would not have to spend any money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger's lost it. He hasn't evolved

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought you weren't coming back on here till the 3rd?

Agree0 Disagree0

Real Madrid job was open this Summer and they appointed Ancelotti.

You have to be on something. Sniffing too much glue!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Wenger is better than Hodgson.
Is he better than Ancelotti?
I'm not to sure. There both top managers. I would prefer Ancelotti personally, just my opinion and I want Wenger out so I am biased. Your obviously biased as your name is Wengerism. A neutral would pick Ancelotti I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Real Madrid job did come up recently and Wenger is not there. The England job came up 1 year ago and Wenger is not there. What is your point.

Agree0 Disagree0

What on earth has that got to do with anything. Maybe he would take NB with him. Owners appoint Managers, they are first businessmen and second football. So yer, he would give any club in the world financial stability.
I work for a US company and I tell you now, the directors sit in the US and demand that we make our numbers, profit, sales, etc. absolutely nothing must get in the way.
This sums up the Arsenal these days which is why Wenger is loved.

Agree0 Disagree0

Evolution or extinction. It's that simple

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I the only one who thinks this window has become a complete joke . Am I missing something? Now I'm not in the know or anything but I'm sure we are a great club! We need to buy some players of a great club quality
I'm sure they did want to join our great club . So why is it so different now . Eds please can you help?

{Ed022's Note - Im officially lost for words mate. If someone suggested to me Spurs would sign 6 players for over £100m and we would sign two freebies in Flamini and Sanogo then I would have shipped you off to the mental institution... I just don't know what is happening mate...}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks . We all care .

Agree0 Disagree0

No your are not alone I reckon 80-90% of our fan base would agree and if you don't you are deluded every other teams fans can see it yet some of our own can't.

Agree0 Disagree0

There isn't anything strange about us not spending money though. what's weird, is that people had 100 percent belief we would spend big. Its literally unprecedented at Arsenal. don't get me wrong, we need to buy great players, and lift the fans with such signings. but its was never going to be a certainty we would do it.

Original AG posted that we should have sacked Wenger and replaced him with Lambert, Rijkaard, and wait for it Rodgers!

You're funny

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No one really wants Arsene sacked I don't believe but equally no one wants to go 9 or 10 or 11 or 12 years
Hoping for 4th place at best. Yes I know we will here we hope for more but realistically? There has to be a time when if the captain of the ship refuses to change course you have to change the captain

Agree0 Disagree0

No to all of them has to be Klopp or Laudrup. I'd take either and even pay for them. Please get rid of Wenger and bring in either.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bang on valley (I hope) but have been thinking the same that he must see he needs to buy and if he doesn't he must know the backlash that will be coming his way? 3 days. spurs ship monkey boy out and hopefully this domino effect will start?

tv saying 19m bid for sakho has been accepted from Liverpool.I thought AW would have gone for him, with Alderweild going to Athletico it looks like no central defender for us.I personally don't rate Ashley Williams so I hope TV5 is nearing full fitness and back to his best.

{Ed022's Note - TV5 has re-joined training and done some light jogging etc... Will be nearing fitness after the international break...}

30 Aug 2013 19:57:50
This is the season to settle who is right the BACK or SACK Wenger camps. If we are still in the title race mid April and CL sf/qf the back him team will be proved right but if the gap between us and the top 3 stays the same or increases without a CL final appearance then the sack him camp will gather massive momentum. Personally I want him to stay but adapt to the modern game and be prepared admit his way isn't delivering the goods. Time will tell

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2013 19:56:29

I really expected us to sign someone today. I thought the thinking behind it would have been for a morale boost before spurs then the player would be integrated for the next game

It's going to be a bad atmosphere at the emirates tomorrow. I still think we can do spurs though.

Wenger's right about team balance, spurs are no better off with the new players YET but they have improved their team significantly. Unlike our team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why?????

The game is on Sunday. you aren't an Arsenal fan, come Spud bot get off this site lol

{Ed022's Note - If players sign before midnight they are able to play... Therefore Lamela, Chiriches and all their other signings are able to play on Sunday. We've got one Flamini and a Sanogo...}

As I drift slowly into a mental breakdown, a question for you.

How long do it take to do a big money transfer? Bale has taken all summer, Higuain seemed to take a month before the blow out.

Am I really to believe we can sign two or three high profile players with complex contracts and fees in 2 days? Sounds impossible.

Wenger said today he has 50 names of players a DAY thrown at him at the moment.

So basically, the guy is either a genius, or is having some kind of breakdown.

A large part hopes he proves us all wrong and nails it - the realist in me thinks we are f*****

Really don't understand the logic in not strengthening, everything Wenger has been working for rests on beating spuds, and the transfer window, how did he ever allow this to happen, the only conclusion is gadizis was lying to put pressure on wenger, Wenger fails, gadizis is in charge, how about that for a powerplay. Why Wenger is covering up these clowns is another question.
Honestly can see the end of wengers term as manager coming sooner than we all think, unless the Russian comes to our rescue, all anger needs to be vented at gadizis the board and the owner, felt for Wenger today, defending the indefensible. Hope something, anything, happens before the game, because if it goes badly I fear the worst

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with that, I think Wenger is towing the part line and being loyal, I think Gazidis has lied in public. What is the betting we have a Yank as a Manager soon .kid you I not

Agree0 Disagree0

I used to believe Arsene was taking the stick to cover the board but now think they are all in balance sheet improvement is way beyond the team sheet in impotantace thinking together

Agree0 Disagree0

Yater you asked "why is wenger covering up for these clowns?". I can think of £7m reasons per year why wenger does it mate. pay me 7m squid per year and I will take all the rubbish in the world mate because when I get home to my mansion I will forget all about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because wenger is on £7 mill a year. I'd cover for my employer! Not willing to pay wages for top quality, yet is highest paid manager. #hypocrite

Wenger to keep an eye out over Sakho to liverpool deal and match their offer to player and club.
However, this is only if we cannot sign a DM that can cover CB as well due to Sagna's recent impressive showings

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is he a security guard to keep an eye on every move? Lol. time he gets active

{Ed022's Note - Liverpool have agreed a £8m fee for Tiago Ilori (a centre back) so maybe this means Sakho isn't going there now?}

Pls ED, is bendtner on injury? And lastly, it will be unwise to think Torres will accept to marry the bench while Eto enjoys playing no9 position always (Although, vice versa) when world cup is near.Torres is on the exit otherwise, Saldado will still his spot in Spain line up (A Regular first team spot means alots)

Sakho expected in Liverpool within 24 hours for a medical and talks before a £13m move expected to be complete over the weekend! saddened if this goes thru, had really hoped we would sign him, great player for that money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2013 17:35:01
Calm down guys.

We are waiting for the Bale deal to go through.
Then Wenger will raid Real Madrid. All of those moves depend on that transfer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are assuming those players want to come, last I heard they wanted to stay in Spain

Agree0 Disagree0

They'll soon change their tune if the powers that be at Madrid don't want THEM to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 17:15:04
I for one have to say the crowds reaction if come Sunday Bendtner is named in the squad will be incredible. There could actually be a riot, surely the club realise the atmosphere in the ground will be atrocious if after the deadline closes we have 2 free transfers and Bendtners re-integration to show for our summer business. If that happens I hope Kroneke is selling up before the AGM, otherwise if I was him, Gazidis and Wenger I'd phone a sickie that day

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tv suggest he is currently speaking with Palace

Not heard the wenger press conf. but listening to the radio on what he said, sounds a lot like we are not going to get anyone of note. this situation is fine if our first 11 don't get injured or tired. as much as I would like to feel good about the next few months all I have is a feeling of dread. it has been left to late again to buy and we will proberly end up with last minute rubbish. worried very much about sunday!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe listen to it first before u jump the gun! the radio and sly seem to make up more sh**E than some of the posters here!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2013 17:12:57
Here comes a conspiracy theory so bare with me.

If anyone listens to talks***, you should remember one or two of their clowns talking about how they had inside info that we were going to break our transfer record three times.

A couple of months later, Spurs break their transfer record thrice.

Did they have inside info on spurs dealings so those betting companies they promote could collect all those Arsenal related bets they took on Higuain and whoever else has been linked with us?

Sounds crazy I know, but don't all conspiracy's do?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No mate, gadizis was the one who said that.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 16:45:16
To all people wishing wenger out.
To replace him by who.
Not much to choose to from.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. Now is not the time to sack Wenger, let's see if he pulls off any miracles in the last couple days and then if this is really the squad that he is happy with then we would have to revisit the situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd do the job

Agree0 Disagree0

Should've been sacked 2 years ago. Practically speaking, you're right, were just going to have to ride this wave for another year. As for managers who could take over.
Klopp
Lambert
Laudrup
AVB
Rogers
Mourinho
Rijkard
Heyncks
Ancelotti

Just a few off the top of my my head whom I regard in much higher esteem than Wenger and would be more than happy with any of them next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 18:59:16
He needs to be judged on this years performance first. But if a certain Dortmund Coach who speaks perfect English and is a good judge of a player, builds team spirt and won the German title two years on the trot.I think if we show no real improvement from the last 4-5 years and finish 4th/5th then I wouldn't offer him a new contract.I think a lot hinges on the signings in the next 3 days or jan transfer window. To offload a load of players and leave the squad short and not expect players to get injured is absurd. You get what you pay for! Km

Agree0 Disagree0

So there be no takers for an 8 million a year salary???

Agree0 Disagree0

Should have been out at the end of last season, and there were plenty of managers available then. Loose on Sunday and most of the crowd will be demanding he goes

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have taken Pellegrini this summer. Now ideally I'd have Klopp or Laudrup.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 16:36:13
Just watched the press conference. Wenger is a weirdo. Apparently more then 3 signings is bad for a team. We're screwed because we need at least 5!
Yea, he's a weirdo. Am I alone in thinking this?
Sw18g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yea it really seems to adversely affect City and Chelsea when they go on shopping sprees doesn't it? lol

I don't like what those teams do, but they bring in numerous new players and seem to only improve so I don't buy that.

If you were not planning on bringing in more than 3 players, why did you get rid of 17 players in the first place?

don't get it,

{Ed022's Note - If anyone had said back in June that we'd sign Sanogo and Flamini on frees and Spurs would sign half a dozen players for £100m you'd think it was some sort of sick joke! Reality bites!}

Agree0 Disagree0

You may not be alone mate but you and anyone who thinks like you has lost the plot

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously people don't listen and only hear what they want to here! what wenger actually said was spurs adding more than 3 first team players may effect there balance which makes perfect sence! he did not mean buying more than 3 players but more than 3 for the first team< all spurs new players will expect to be playing from the get go and that's what 5 or 6 now! if you add say 3 first team players and say 3 squad players then that's fine as the squad player will ease in over time and not expect to be starters all of spurs new players will expect to be starters and that's half a team so offcourse there will be unbalance as they have never played together!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he signed 8 2 years ago

Agree0 Disagree0

@ gunns4life. How have I lost the plot, please clarify what you meant.
Sw18g

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but even adding 5 or 6 first team players won't necessarily affect you. If we added Casillas, Hummels, Gundogan, Cesc, DiMaria, Suarez (just named players I like not saying they'd all sign) then I doubt we'd go backwards and be affected by this. It's just more drivel Arsene is trying to spin us with.

{Ed022's Note - If we signed those players we'd compete in every trophy. More importantly we'd win a few too...}

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been watching this site for a long time and its a great laugh. there was one poster MissArsenal awhile back who sometimes used to give some good information. what's ahappend to her.

My view on this saga is that Wenger is employed by the club and is loyal to them and us fans. Our biggest loss in the last 8 years is that of David Dein, and we all know he left because he was not being provided with financial power to compete in the market.

All those that keep calling for wengers head should remember this.

{Ed022's Note - She gave me false information so I killed her and she's now in a shallow grave outside the M4...}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed022 you have to lighten up man, have you thought about counselling or is it just the "bendtner" news has turned you into a homicidal maniac?

Don't sign anyone.

I'm on board

Wenger's "f*** you" to everyone is awesome

Boys are mature this year, let's get healthy, we are no pushovers

I'm on board, don't wanna be pissed off everyday anymore

Bring on the Spuds. Can't wait to slaughter them

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said US Gooner. Come on U gunners.

Agree0 Disagree0

US I love the optimism but is that how you really feel? I can't see how we make it through the season with so few players.

Here's to hoping Wenger has a Joker up his sleeve. (or several!)

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't stand waking up disappointed anymore

After 99% of three transfer windows being disappointing, not getting my hopes up for a Monday

Nothing is happening Monday

Gotta focus on what we have, 14 players

Well it looks like our prayers have been answered! I have it on 'High' that Wenger is poised to make one of his most audacious signings of his illustrious career. 'el espíritu santo' TM.
Apparently Wenger likes that he is available on a free, floats with the ball, can ghost in between defenders, always treads the right path and puts in a good 'cross'. Above all Wenger has belief in him and he has asked that we all show faith in him.
Although I have never seen him I am assured he has a big following, but is known to be a bit of a trouble maker and can be divisive. Ownership issues have been raised before. The biggest problem for many though is his apparent invisibility when the chips are down.
I for one can't wait to see him pull on the shirt.

{Ed022's Note - Please God let no-one ask me who the Holy Spirit plays for currently. I might give up the ghost if they do...}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To Ed022 I think the rumour is that the Holy G is currently in talks with Crystal Palace

{Ed022's Note - God, aka Bendtner is currently back in talks with Crystal Palace. Considering Chamakh was on £60,000 per week after signing on a free and Bendtner is shockingly on £52,000 then surely NB will take a drop enough to get him a contract. MC is on a one year contract at £45,000 per week to play...}

Ok it's my turn to lose sanity lol,

I am at a total loss of explanation as to what is going on at our beloved club. I just don't get it, why come out and boast to the world that we have so much money and that we have turned a financial corner, and then proceed to spend exactly ZERO of it?

My only saving grace is telling myself that there is tonnes going on behind the scenes that no one knows about, and that maybe a change in the power structure is really happening as Ed002 alluded to some time ago.

For Arsene's sake I just hope to God we don't lose on Sunday. I have always supported Arsene and although I may disagree with him on many football matters, the man knows how to manage a team. But if we lose to the spurs this weekend, nothing short of a riot would surprise me as a reaction to the unfair treatment that we fans have been subjected to so far this summer.

No one likes to be taken for a fool, and right now we look to be the biggest fools in European Football. As many others have said, paying champagne prices for apple juice.

Any insight that anyone has as to what is going on would be greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone has a great day,
Cheers,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate what we have at the club is Ivan who used to be involved with transfers and perhaps still is but what he is capable of doing is dictated by Wenger. The same goes for Law. The system should be this:

- Wenger goes cap in hand to them and gives them a list of primary, secondary and tertiary (cont. as needed) targets, and asks they they do what it takes to sign him, given our financial capability. They go and do that, we land big players for big money and we win things.

-What actually happens is Wenger goes to Law and maybe Ivan and says these are the players I want, and this is the budget I have. You cannot go over this budget for that player.

So no matter how involved they are, the final say rests with Wenger. I have no doubts that these two men are sick of it, although happy to take their salaries. I am certain that the number of top to good players we have approached this summer who have asked for higher wages than we were prepared to pay is massive. And I am also certain the number of calls to Wenger saying 'he'll come but he wants X wages' and Wenger has turned around and said 'no' is equally as high.

That's basically it. The final say rests with the one guy at the club who detests spending modern fees and wages because it goes against his own ideals. That's why he needs to go, that's why Ivan dropped him in the brown stuff and that's Wenger comes across like he couldn't give a monkeys about the fans, because his own ideals are paramount.

He is of course prepared to SELL for modern fees to clubs who pay modern wages, as well as charging modern prices and taking home his very very pleasant modern salary.

To think if Wenger had invested the last 6 years' wages he could have bought Neymar is staggering.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right. Some insight would be appreciated.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Wenger be telling Gavidis what budget he has? IG knows this already

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Metal,

If what you're saying is true, then Wenger is the one to blame because he has the final say.

I find this extremely sad that this is how he will be remembered if this is, in fact, his last year as our manager. He has such a great footballing brain, but if you are right and he is the stubborn one who refuses to pay more than 16 million for anyone, then sadly, I have to agree that his time has come.

I can't believe I just said that, I think I was one of the last Wenger supporters (along with Wengerism), but the disrespect that has been shown to the fans has to be accounted for.

This is making Friday feel like a Monday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who the hell is Wenger to give budgets? (If what you say is correct) . then what are Dick Law and Ivan Gazidis for? Wenger is there to do his job and not poke around his incapable nose in transfer negotiations?

Bendtner will stay and no striker coming in. I believe the only money we'll be spending is on a defender. Personally, I like Bendtner. Ok like is a strong word considering he's hardly ever delivered for us, but I happen to think he's very talented and is worth one final chance. We all say stupid things, and he's said his. It's not like he keeps on about it. Give the guy a chance (ok another chance)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate, even though Bendtner doesn't help himself out with his bog mouth and his drunk driving antics, the real reason why gooners are going to be so upset if NB52 plays for Arsenal again is because we were sold the vision of having Suarez or Higuain at the Emirates.

I agree Bendtner is not as much s**t as people make him out to be and he does well for Denmark, but we were promised players of real quality.

Is anyone as scared as me heading into this derby at the weekend? Not just the derby, but also the rest of the season. Our squad is absolutely threadbare, down to the bare bones doesn't even explain it.

I'm either completely paranoid or mad (maybe both) but I think Wenger is that hellbent on showing us all who the boss is, and will go as far as to ruin the club from within. He obviously holds more power over the club than we think. People say Kroenke doesn't mind as he makes a shed load of money out of the club, but in all fairness any businessman worth his salt could see that Wenger is destroying our club.
As a business that relies more on the fans input regarding tickets and merchandise, how can Kroenke sit back and watch the empty seats at the stadium without getting tetchy.

He owns the club, why not pull Wenger to the side and tell him he needs to buy quality players at the going rates, if not to keep the fans onside, then at least to stay in the top four, or else?

"Football without fans is nothing" this is what Wenger should adhere to, not alienating and splitting the fans. We are slowly becoming a laughing stock, in recent years we have lost our best players and captains, this year apparently we could afford real quality and keep our best players, yet Wenger gets rid of the passengers and leaves us short.

Don't like the thought of classing the spurs on our level, but look at the quality players they have bought. Like it or not, but they are on a new level this season and I can see them really showing our weakness.

Disgruntled, angry, scared, only goes a short way to explain how I feel right now. Wenger in my eyes has destroyed his legacy, he will always be remembered as the manger who seriously f**ked it up.

Haven't heard an update in a while on Diaby's (8th?) recovery. Can anyone enlighten me?

{Ed022's Note - Diaby tore his ACL (Anterial Cruciate Ligament) back at the end of March 2013 and was expected to be out for at least 9 months. This means he won't be back until at least January 2014 if his recovery goes well. This means that in 8 years that he will have been at the club he will have made a staggering 92 appearances in all competitions. Meaning he averages 11.5 games a season!!!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger has some sort of a soft spot for the french players. I mean surely. diaby is a nice guy and all. but this is about football and glory. not keeping your friends on payroll, because you don't want to see them at a job center.

Treat diaby like an ex girlfriend you use to be madly in love with but dumped you. sorely missed but accept you will never see again and just move on

Wenger won't stop amusing me, note I love Wenger but I also say things as as see them.
First Wenger and the entire Arsenal hierarchy must within 7days apologies to all the devoted fans of this great club, that is irrespective of who we sign be it Messi or Ronaldo. For them to wait till 106hrs to the end of the transfer window without making any signings, is a clear sign that they had not planned for this team.
At a period where 3 of the top 4 clubs had changed managers, we only needed to bring in 2players ( DM who can play CB and a versatile forward) to boost our title push. But they waited and waited, now we don't just need 2players, we need 2players we need at least 4 or 5players (the 2 we needed before plus players to replace Artata, Ox, Poldi and Gerv whom we have sold).
So no matter Lang Wenger uses we are panic buying. We should have had a list and follwed the list to the latter. Not waiting for bargains, if we really wanted to compete and challenge for glory.
So we don't have a choice we need bodies on the field and probable not those of Ryo ( especially in the league and champion league) yet, maybe in the capital cup. We need quality before the window closes, and that is a must, so we must panick buy. Now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If it's true that there is a statistical machine at the emirates that Wenger, Gazidis and co use to come up with player valuations that machine is definitely broken

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moneyball, otherwise known as sabermetrics was developed as a way for small market baseball teams to compete against the likes of the big spending New York Yankees by utilizing statistical analysis to find value signings and put them into spots and situations where they have the best opportunity for success. This approach has never yielded a championship but has made its practitioners profitable.

I have probably checked this site >3 times a day hoping that eventually I will get some good news and so far we have got : Sanogo, Flamini and Bendter ( YAAY).

Honestly think Wenger has completely lost his marbles, they have left his head and our scattered around the planet. He has so far gone it's not even funny.

I think players would prefer to go to Tottenham regardless of Champions League because they have a board and manager who make signings and show ambition. They are having a proper go.

Our players are calling for signings the fans are the board are ( which is a joke they should also be more proactive). Then we get Wenger's crazy press conferences where he defends his corner and thinks the worlds against him.

I think he had his time a couple years ago. No manager should get the wages he does fail consistently and keep his job. He should be told to walk at the end of the season regardless he is causing severe stress problems for the fans.

Anyone who try's to tell me to support the club or be positive. I support the team but not Wenger and that is not going to change. He's not up to job in my eyes.

Also people saying Flamini is a master stroke are brain washed. At the start of the season we were linked with top quality midfielders. If Flamini was the plan he would of been signed earlier. Any signing now is a panic buy good or not. There is three days left but it is still poor management.

Right now if you bought a program for a game you would have spent more on the club this season then Wenger. Think about that for a second. Every season ticket holder has parted with more money then he has. In fact we've made a profit surprise suprise.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

NB52 back in the squad?

This is the same NB52 who swore he would never play in an Arsenal shirt again whilst on loan at Sunderland and slagged off everything about the club?

The same NB52 who has been sitting on his arse taking a weekly pay check most Arsenal fans would be delighted with as a yearly wage?

NB52 who has benefitted from Wengers egalitarian wage structure to such an extent that any team at a level that they may consider his talents would improve their squa cannot afford him?

The Barcelona miss NB52?

Makes you long for the good old days of panic buying doesn't it. At least there would be some element of surprise in how they would play (possibly even a pleasant one).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No he is not! nor did wenger say he was, people have serious selective hearing!

Agree0 Disagree0

No he is definitely in the first team squad check the Arsenal website.

Of course technically he never left it, it is the threat to return him to active duty that is laughable and shows the depths Wenger has sunk to.

Every pundit in the world knows Arsenal need additional quality players and have been saying so for years.

I believe it is Wengers pride and arrogance that is preventing him from buying. He does not want to be seen to be pandering to the pundits, press and fans. The man has turned cutting off your nose to spite your face into an art form.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 14:01:58
If there are no confirmed, completed, and realistic signings by 3.45pm on Sunday, expect to see the most vitriolic anti -Wenger demonstrations, banners etc at the Emirates, prior to the kick-off versus Spurs.
And I for one won't blame the fans.
Eight weeks after fannying round the Far East trying to sell jerseys, we are absolutely no further forward in strengthening the squad and have amassed 2 more serious injuries. We can't even put out a bench on Sunday without resorting to untried teenagers.
And for what? To satisfy one man's ego. We seem to be spending vast sums on scouts all over the world, but never act on their recommendations.
Armies of Arsenal fans will face complete humiliation in both the EPL and CL this season, but never mind we've got squillions in the bank.

AW doesn't panic buy, yeah right,

Mert, Santos, Arteta, Jenks,

he doesn't like to buy more than three players per window as it de-stabalises the squad? see above.

Anyway, he is looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights at the moment, all this money to spend and too afraid to do anything with it, so he goes back to basics, get freebies, and hope for the best, the fans will forgive me when/if we get champions league football.

The sorry state of affairs at the moment, it won't be a car driving over him this time, it'll be a robin reliant! His time is up, too stubborn, too tight, too long with a trophy, as soon as the window opened he knew where to strengthen, the man is fast becoming a joke!

{Ed022's Note - Arsene Wenger originally (rumour has it) was going for Fellaini and was quoted £15m plus so went for Arteta at £10m. Let's be honest, for a last day signing he's proven pretty good don't you think? As for Mertesacker, he's got us out of a hole and although im not his biggest fan, he's done pretty well in partnerships with Sagna and Koscielny. Santos was and still is awful and as for Jenkinson, he was signed in June 2011 for £1m so hardly a panic buy and someone who will be first choice right back soon for Arsenal...}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

OK ed, fair enough, I do agree with Arteta, we are a different team with him playing, Mert just frightens the hell out of me every time someone's running at him, and yeah Jenks is one for the future, the less said about Santos the better lol. Rumours of a 40 million bid for German International, only two players- Draxler and Ozil- I can think of as fitting that bill (ruling out all Dortmund and Bayern players, which I think we definitely can), Kevin-Prince Boateng apparently (and very unexpectedly to me) about to join SCHALKE. any connections?

Ozil's one of my favourite players of his kind- skillful, wispy, great dribbling/passing- but, must admit, mainly because we've had a number of players with similar qualities now and over the years (though not any as good), think I'd be even more excited if Draxler was the mystery 40 million man

Supposing it ain't bull, in the first place, and that, y'know, it actually happens.

The KPB news makes it a tiny bit more likely

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would imagine KPG is making way for a return of Kaka to Milan. Schalke won't sell draxler this year. They have champions league so he's got everything he needs at this time.

Poor old Arsene. Still trying to look dignified after the shambles of this transfer window. Still trying to look in control when things are clearly getting away from him. Seemingly unable to learn from the lessons of previous years - we are again reduced to last minute negotiations that could make or break our season. To picking from the leftovers and making hasty decisions that bare the hallmarks of half-baked policies.
The club seems paralysed. The cause has to be identified.
Wenger has been left horribly exposed - and it's hard to look dignified when your d*ck is hanging out.

The window has been open for weeks, before 3-4 players needed comments from AW & Board we didn't have as mnay key injuries, Pod, Ox etc, all other teams around us (Spuds, Liverpool, Chelsea, City) have add quality players, and we have 2 free transfers and 2 days to add quality and depth, no panic there then! Like that the best thing he could say about Flamini was he had great fitness. Some gee-up coach.
Oh and despite what you've seen Szczesny is back to his best, whatever that was. So rule out any new goalkeepers.
And with nick b too expensive to move on it looks like he could well be named in the squad this weekend.

I think the plane has truley crashed into the mountain here.

On current showing who would you rather see coming off the bench on Sunday if things aren't going so well Sonago or Worlds Number One Striker? 'cause that's as good as it gets at the moment!
I'm going for NB52 scoring from a corner with his first touch! Oh how we dream.

{Ed022's Note - There's more chance of NB tripping over, scoring an OWN GOAL from a Spurs corner and revealing his pants again...}

Edo22 you need a break from the web site duties, you can tell in your replies now that you have also reached the end of your tether. I think I saw in an earlier reply that you are of from 4pm onwards, can I come.

{Ed022's Note - My mum told me not to talk to strangers so I will have to pass. Yes, indeed I am off from 4pm. Catching one of the private jets being "used" by Arsenal off to sunnier parts. I have business in America to sort out and won't be back for about four days and yes I need a break...}

Surely if we were to make big signings it would be before midnight tonight for the Spurs game or are we waiting on Bale to R/Madrid to free some up. There is just too much negativity on this site now. Please! with or without new signings we still are arsenal fans. Them boys need our support. Besides, let's wait for transfer deadline at least.

Do we know how much Wenger has in his war chest? Do we know what players or agents he is talking to?

It is his job, let him do it. Judge at the end of the season or whenever he is fired. Not now.

I personally do not think this negativity is healthy.

More than anyone else, wenger knows how much pressure there is.

We've been asked to "judge me in may" by Wenger for a number of years now, and most of us have - he's no longer right for the job. This years dithering and insane pronouncements that one day the squad is enough and the next it its short, only help prove it. We've had 8 seasons of patience, and that's far more chances than he would have received at any other club. So sorry Soweto-Gunner my patience expired a long time ago.

Wenger is a great manager, the 'money ball' system was great 6/7 years ago when our new ground was being built! But now is only suited for clubs going through the same financial restraints, or a lower placed club that do not have our revenues! We are right up there as one of the most financially stable clubs in THE WORLD, so why are we not now signing the players that will take us forward?
1. AW is too loyal to the players we have. We do have great players, but we also need a few world class players and a better squad depth.
2. AW believes that players are overpriced in the current market and will not be held to ransom for players in a current rich vain of form. He will only pay top money for players that are consistently proven as "top quality".

The problem is Arsene, those players are always going to cost big money and want to go to clubs that are going to genuinely compete on all fronts. They don't see us as being one of those clubs because of our lack of trophies. Therefore are unlikely to consider us.
We have set our stool out as being a club that wants top players but are not willing to pay the price, hence why we always get out bid! Other clubs will pay the money that is asked, and although they are overpriced, they win trophies.

Unless the mentality of our board/club change then we don't stand a chance! Soon we will suffer from a loss in revenue if we can't finish in the top four, and this season may see the start of that! That will start a downward spiral and force the issue that only a HUGE Man city or Chelsea style investment will then attract players of a higher caliber, mainly due to ridiculous wages being paid. This will see a complete change in mentality of how our football club should be run, and end up with us admitting defeat in our much acclaimed business model of self sustained finance.
As frustrating as this window has been, I am still a proud GOONER with respect for how we have managed our finances since the move. However, you can't charge the fans the money they do for season tickets etc, and brag about big commercial revenues coming in if the money is not being reinvested! If you want a business to develope then you have to reinvest your profit and take calculated risks! So come on Arsenal, don't let us down!!

wenger is manager of arsenal. me? i'm a driving instructor. what is wenger doing in this transfer window?
if I was to do a "wenger", that would be the same as me having a pupil who has their driving test in 3 days time and I haven't taken them on main roads yet or done roundabouts or any manoeuvres and any dual carriageways. my incompetence means the pupil will fail their test through no fault of their own.
to a certain extent i'm a manager too. I manage the pupil. i'm their very own arsene wenger. would I allow this to happen? no I wouldnt. if I did than I would fail as their "manager".
arsene take note because your "driving test" is monday at 12 oclock (end of window) and it looks like you are going to fail big-time.

I am not necessarily against getting players on loan.

I know the likes of Torres and Kaka can't play more then 20 games, like start 20 or a mix of starting for the cup games and substitute appearances for league/cl/

However imagine the experience it brings into the squad. Their wages will be high and by no means am I saying they are first choice but it definitely provides squad depth and their presence during training would be immense.

Torres would be like third choice behind Giroud/ (poldi/walcott) then Torres. he could be a game changer at times and others he would be brought on the give the others players a rest.

I can see why this would work too. it effects your wage bill but does no harm to the transfer budget making it more possible to go for the two marquee signing.

2/3 players on loan for squad depth and experience with 2/3 proper WC signing. maybe we can pull this off.

Of-course this doesn't work without signing players. I am not suggesting we get 3 players on loan and not sign anyone. A balance of on loan and new players to get us through this season.

This would give the current team time to develop and next season we can regroup and possibly get more marquee signing to replace rosicky arteta or more squad players if the likes of gibbs, jenks, chamberlain have really stepped up to the plate.

just a thought. seems more of an arsenal way then buying 10 first team players.

Torres Kaka Flamini on FREE leaving more money to bid the extra dollar on Sakho, Bender, Rooney/Mata (just using the names doing rounds on this site)

2 questions for you .

1/ As he is now staying will he be playing for the club or will he train etc with the reserves
2/ Would it of been he unwillingness to lower his wage demands that have scuppered any move away?

{Ed022's Note - Bendtner is on £52,000 per week which is roughly £2.7m a year in wages. Something a lot of clubs are not willing to match. Therefore, that is the ONLY reason for clubs not wanting him. At least half a dozen have shown interest and most have had bids ACCEPTED. All have failed with agreeing his wages. As for question one, he should only be allowed to make the tea or organise the half time oranges. He should NEVER wear an Arsenal shirt again IMO...}

Hi- I am not a Arsenal fan but a Bristol City fan, any way I work in UK Office of Unidad Editorial, who publish Marca and I have just seen a story that will be published tommorows edition ONLY IF Gareth Bale deal is not completed today. In an attempt to discredit Spurs.

This story suggests that Real are willing to sell Di Maria or Ozil, and will consider a large bid for Benzema, even against the players wishes (as they have come out in the media stating that they will be staying.) Once the Bale deal is concluded.

However Spurs and Daniel Levy are purposly delaying the Bale deal as they have become aware of this and have every intention to sell bale in final hours of the transfer window to ensure that these players do not arrive at Arsenal. Thefore there is only slim chance of them leaving.

You have to admire Daniel Levy for his buisness tactic's and if I were a Arsenal fan I would only want one signing and that would be Daniel Levy himself.

I do feel for you guys as you have has your hopes dashed so many times and around 8-12 years ago you were the team playing the best football. Anyway good luck.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well done spurs fan; infact, you mite be bale posting as bristol city fan!.

Agree0 Disagree0

Daniel Levy has tried every window. we are still on top of them at the end of the year.

with our stubborn manager and all.

I think he has done most of the harm this transfer window with that ridiculous fee for bale, while being hypocritical and putting low bids for players he wishes to buy.

He's the sort of guy, you respect, but not the sort of guy you want to know.

Baldini is the real wizard for them. in Europe Levy has rubbed soo many people the wrong way. its bound to create enemies.

as far as Real are concerned. This bale deal won't stop, they will keep coming and using Spurs as a feeder club, Lamela is next.

Also I applaud spurs for the purchases, but should have kept some for that stadium they are yet to build. 450 mill does not grow on trees.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely RM and Arsenal can broker the deals subject to the Bale transfer going through ao all the paperwork is in place and ready? Ed?

{Ed022's Note - Of course they can. However, a few bridges have been burnt and Real Madrid are not rushing to do Arsenal any favours...}

Agree0 Disagree0

If RM need the money from these sales to finance the Bale deal and if Spurs do not give them enough time to do this, won't RM just cancel the Bale deal?
Where will that leave Spurs? (With a title challenging team this year, then bankruptcy?)
If you look at RM, apart from for PR reasons, they really do not need Bale.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So what if RM tell the spuds, if you want the money for bale, we need to sell players before the window closes?

I can't imagine RM being too happy about not being able to sell players they want to offload.

Also, perhaps RM and a buying club, can be just as " clever" and agree everything in principle privately, so as soon as bale is signed everything is in place already?

So Wenger did what he said he would: 3 palyers coming in, 2 attackers, 1 defensive mid. Problem is all of them were "free" and Wenger's definition of QUALITY, is clearly very different from mine.

Players in:
Sanogo
Flamini
Bendtner (like a new signing).

Appalling stuff - sadly a career-ending transfer window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes your right, been the plan all along.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha - not saying its been the plan all along. but lack of plan has led to this.

I think Wenger and Co did draft a list of targets at the begginning of the summer, but did not plan for a hyper-inflated market this summer.

So the contigency was to not do anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the zero spend is a BIG 2 fingers up at Gazidis from Wenger the messiah who still wants to prove that he is the greatest manager of all time by winning trophies on a shoe string, and he is mightily peeved at Gazidis for saying we would spend big.

hi gooners

great and wonderful news aw says the world's greatest striker (paddy power-less)" can stay and if this happens and comes back fully fit he will use him and play.".

awesome this will be a new signing we have been so desperately waiting for. aw is a world's best liar". do we really have the money or are we going on the same road as liverpool (now they are also doing things in transfer market) . sunday's derby is crucial, mind you if we loose the fans will not stand this (also no top signings), i think there will be a massive revolt on the cards of this is the way the board and manager goes on regarding their transfer business. we are told in sales to build trust with your client and also make promises which you can keep. i believe we are the customers and this is the trust and vague promises. i am totally frustrated with aw giving his same freaking bs in interviews.

if he comes in front of me i will surely punch him first then greet him.

can't see any top signings now. today aw will be with the team for sunday derby. now only chance is monday or tuesday by 12:00. i don't think so players we have been chasing are easy transfers. really aw breaks my heart. aw if you read this please don't make us suffer. if u don't buy then i am afraid this will lead to bad consequences.

build on this tea which has great potential but not enough to last whole season. also don't loose on sunday. not this time. c'mon let's show the white suckers who is the king. arsenal will win. cheers!

Wenger makes a very good point today, which nobody else really picked up on.
When you sign more than 3 players in a window it will completely disrupt your system. This will undoubtedly happen with Spurs.
This is why I think we need only 1 or 2 signings. We have a great system we shouldn't disrupt it.
Told you he had a plan.
Have faith.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Greeeeaaat excuse for lack of signings! You complete person! We have need a minimum of 5 signings for the last couple years!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wengerism,

While I admire your loyalty to Wenger don't come out with such rubbish!

Its insulting to the rest of us who have to put up with your crap!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's also contradicting his own comments that we are "short on numbers"

Agree0 Disagree0

My question for Wengerism is What good is the current "system" is it earns us 4th position? the current system should be smashed to smitherines!

{Ed022's Note - Just like Arsenal fans' morale...smashed to bits...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Wengerism - how many players did we bring in on deadline day a couple of years back? 5 I believe and they were panic buys. Spurs have gone about their business in a professional manner, bringing some players in early to bed them in, and they are quality players. Not like some of the garbage we got on that last day of the window (or will you try an defend the quality of fatty santos and park?). This is just more bs being spouted by Wenger. He can never man up and admit when he has made mistakes. He is full of bull and will continue to act like this while there are so many people like you who lap it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Based upon this idea we should be title favourites as we have a very stable team. Pity that we probably need to field 11 fit players to get three points from most games, because we won't have 11 fit players soon. (Not forgetting some substitutes could be handy.)

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 09:27:49
Ok, heres a rumour ED, I'm starting it,

Spurs are dragging their scaly mis-misshapen claws
over the Big ears deal, sorry did I say that, I meant Bale " did you see the size of them ears" deal, don't mention the ears. They want to derail Arsenals possibility of signing a few players from Les Blancos, leaving their deal with Real to the last minute, follow so far? Platini has weighed in threatening to close the window early, citing " your paying how much for him ", but his ears are so biiiig? This I believe is at the behest of Real, I would laugh my ears off if that happened, imagine it, thoughts?

{Ed022's Note - I have said it before and I will say it again, I would be very surprised if we signed ANY players from Real Madrid. Especially after the Higuain saga. Therefore, it is irrelevant when Bale is sold. I think we've got our irons in different fires IMO...}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I kind of agree, however, the log jam seems to be the Bale transfer, so, who will we sign,?
if anyone?

We don't have irons in the fire Ed. The board decided iron was too expensive so have decided to substitute the iron for plastic and they have all melted.

Flamini in
Sanogo in
We will get at least 1 more top player.
So calm down.
The squad maybe s little thin at the moment, but not everybody is going to stay injured.
Vermalen, Arteta, Diaby, Chamberlain, Podolski etc.
All 1st team players will comeback. Snd where will they play.
I trust the manager, if we don't see a top player come in. I won't return to the site on the 3rd Sep.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like your last sentence because i'd be very happy not to read anymore of your sycophant drivel.

Regardless of whether we sign one top player, this transfer window has been unconscionably ineptly handled. We need quantities and quality and we have achieved neither. Considering the frequency of injuries to key players we have had in the last 4-5 years, it's ridiculous that both Arsene and the board are still following such a reckless transfer policy.

I for one have changed my opinion about Wenger. It's time for him to move on. For us to finally be flush with funding and yet not improve the competitiveness of our team is absolutely unacceptable. Nothing in life is permanent and change is the only constant in life. Wenger out!

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously you have never heard of the principle of rotation. It's been quite popular for oh. the last decade at least.

One top player, ONE, what about the other four needed to give our squad any quality in depth.

In order to cope with the rigours of playing in four competitions and being competative in each we need to be able to cope with injuries without compromising the rotation system or the quality of the team and that requires quality in depth within a large squad.

Our top players get injured because they are overplayed due to the fact that we do not have sufficient alternatives. At 3-0 up against a poor Ferna we should not have to risk the likes of Jack, Rambo or Podolski.

Injuries happen, suspensions happen and like buses they all tend to come at once, normally at the critical part of the season. The only way to cope is a large quality squad and at the moment we are a long way short of having one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaygooner, who is it that I'm trying to court favours from?

You are part of a small minority who trust the manager. He and the club have NOT learnt from previous seasons poor preparation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did Arsene Wenger sign you from Wengerism? Spuds? I have never in my life listened to such nonsense. I certainly hope you don't put up such arguments in person with other Arsenal fans. for the safety of your teeth

Regarding Sunday's game, is anyone else worried about Wilshire's rash tackling? I understand he will be kicked all day long, but he dives into tackles himself, which could easily result in self injury, or worse still a straight red.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've been saying this since I first saw Jack at a Carling Cup game when he was 16. I said this kid is good but he is going to end up with some bad injuries because of the way he goes in for the ball. Unfortunately I believe he has more to come.

morning eds. when is the latest we can sign players to play sunday??

{Ed022's Note - As far as I am aware, and I am sure I will be corrected if not, but we have until midnight TONIGHT to sign players to register them for the Spurs game...}

sanago and flamini (spelling) two signings both on free transfers! increased speending power indeed!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can People please engage their brains for 1 minute. These aren't free signings. We do pay wages. Millions in fact.

{Ed022's Note - Wengerism this is completely ridiculous. Of course everyone is on wages. ALL footballers are paid a wage. Unfortunately in some cases football clubs have to PAY MILLIONS just to release them from their employers and PAY MILLIONS in wages too. Sometimes the player is out of contract and can be SIGNED FOR FREE! This is usually why they're called free transfers...Stop being such an ass...}

Agree0 Disagree0

A bit harsh, but I get your point Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not harsh at all wengerism.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hehe wengerism you are in good form today, even ed022 is having a moan, rightly so because I can't believe your comment about "free transfers" (smiles)

{Ed022's Note - Unfortunately due to me heading abroad on a business trip I will not be around from about 4pm today so will miss the transfer window madness! Just frustrated at the lack of progress with signings...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Wengerism knows absolutely NOTHING about football!

I'm convinced AVB is holding up the Bale deal so we don't have time to move for targets at Real

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd say its more Daniel Levy if its happening.

Ed, do you think it is true that Wenger will not sign any GK for this season despite Fabianski's injury.

{Ed022's Note - I do expect a GK to come in. Along the lines of Cesar or Given but not Begovic, Ruffier etc... as Szczesny is viewed as the long term number one...}

torres is rubbish, both de maria and ozil have failed to live up to there hype/promise and are average and i'm not particularly sold on the idea of benzema either .some people need to open your eyes and actually look at a player/watch football and stop believing the media BS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The fact that you include Ozil in that list shows what you know about football.
Zero my friend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil and Di Maria are very good players. Ozil has had more assists that Xavi and Iniesta since he joined Madrid. If we could get them for circa 55million then that would be very good business IMO. I wouldn't touch the "Benz" with a 6 foot pole though. Overhyped, overpaid and overconfident.

As I said b4 on my 1st post which wasn't posted on here, I can see we fans want the best for our dear club and in so doing want the best players in, I can only see 2 players joining us Rooney and di Maria Probably a DM and a Defender added to flamini and yaya.I'm not really keen about a GK

Morning fellows gooners, Not the draw we wanted but could be worse. I was watching and the minute Napoli was pulled out I knew we would end up with them in our group.

With this group in mind I am a little alarmed at the reports we are going to blow all our transfer Budget on 3 Real Madrid Attacking Players (albeit Great players Ozil, De Maria and Benzema) but surely what we really need is a central defender and a defensive midfielder?

This may be paper talk but if true imo we really need a class CD (Sakho) and DFM (Fellani) above all else. Get both of these or players of the same calibre and then look at getting in another striker (know I will get murdered but Torres would be a steal now Chelski have signed Etoo)

Eds . Do you agree or am I way off the mark and need counselling? {Ed013's Note - Pick up the phone and get booked in mate! Just kidding}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Save your money mate, you don't need counceling as you don't know anything about football ;-)

30 Aug 2013 07:04:29
Have had a sneaky feeling about the possibility of Torres coming to the club all summer, if Chelski sign E'to Wenger would be foolish not to go for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Foolish? For a player out of form and confidence?

He could just repeat what he has done at chelski these past few seasons and we would be left with another deadwood player- a high wage one at that.

Rather Wenger spends the money the club has on someone like benzema (if he would join), etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

I kept getting told this all summer from a Chelsea supporter friend (not close one ha ha) on .

Dear Eds,
As Tottenham dictates the transfer window through the Bale transfer, is it possible that they are holding the transfers for the match against Arsenal!? When is the last possible time we can register players for the match on Sunday!? {Ed013's Note - Its Possible, but they need to be registered by today, but you can sign players and ask not to declare them until the match team sheet is released}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2013 02:16:51
I think getting Kaka and Torres on loan might be enough, I know their salaries are high but we can afford for one season and at the end there is nothing much to loose is they can both give at least 50% of their ability it will be enough.

What we need is quality players and not expensive players and Wenger knows how to find them. We just need to be patient, most of our young players if given opportunity will be word class in few years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For goodness sake they are both finished-done-kaput

{Ed022's Note - Kaka has paper knees and I would say he is as likely to play 38 league games as Abou Diaby... As for Torres, I feel a loan move to Spain will be more likely...}

Agree0 Disagree0

We have all sunk so low that we are even seeing other teams cast offs as being acceptable.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 01:19:03
Arsenal supposedly after di Maria, ozil, benzema, casillas and stay tuned for the kaka rumours to explode. Arsenal will cling onto hope of these sales right up until deadline, while other teams are snatching quality players around them. In the end Madrid will sell only one of these players and he will be going to Italy. On deadline day arsenal will submit over the top bids for cabaye, Sorensen, ash Williams and junior hoilett. wenger to reveal an ongoing deal to bring fabregas back in January, as always they are just words.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately, I think you're spot on.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 00:57:33
Deadline day is going to be either Like waking up Christmas morning, or that moment when your mothers smashed at the table, a complete embarresment to everyone. They way things are I expect arsenal to end up like the latter.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well let's hope we don't sign the turkey otherwise we've all been stuffed again.

{Ed022's Note - We all want a CRACKER of a signing but that doesn't look likely at PRESENT...}

This is the only page which I read it and it puts a smile on my face.
Love how everyone go after Malaga Gooner and how he keeps coming
up with these romours. Keep it up lads and let's hope we really get to have
a last laugh on deadline day on everyone who is laughing at us.

I believe that we will sign 3 to 4 players before transfer window shuts.

Just seen a clip from arsenal fan tv, a fan, who I must say aquited himself extremely well and backed up his arguments with fact after fact, I digress, if players are not signed by the weekend he was calling for the fans to boycott buying drinks, pies and program's at the ground this weekend as this brings upto a third of the match day revenue. I would prefer that than making ourselves look like mugs against that lot by booing our manager/team/club. The board will only take notice/action when they see less profit being turned other.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I saw that guy. True fan. He should be Chairman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good call and long overdue, these so called Wenger lovers are holding us back with their blind devotion to past success! The important thing is what's happening now and they just can't see it!

Agree0 Disagree0

I already don't buy drinks, food or programs (overpriced) unfortunately I have a season ticket so they've got my money no matter if I go or not. Often I'm praying for games to sell out so I can ticket exchange if I have work commitments, and last season there were a hell of a lot of games not sold out, so I think people are already not buying tickets

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2013 00:33:02
Fellow Arsenal fans
I have had 4 season tickets for many years which have now
Been reduced to 2 after 30 years.
I do not care who Arsenal now sign, as they have made my whole summer a complete nightmare.
From the day silent stan has taken over, a new chapter in the
History of Arsenal football club was shut, it is not based of
Achievement, but only in greed.
I can only see our future similarity being the same as West Ham
Please all stand up and get rid of Kronke, Gazides and a shake up of the board.
My beloved club is slowly being drained.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United fans would allow this to happen
Why should we?
FM

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why don't you give up your other two tickets and take your negativity with you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not being negative mate he is telling us how he feels nothing wrong in that sunshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Kroenke out certainly, Gazidas maybe (I think he's trying to change stuff but hampered by a board inertia) Wenger out definitely (to stubborn and out of touch.) Wengers behaviour mirrors the stuff that got him sacked in France many years ago.

With four days to go we have two freebies. Whatever happened to buy one get one free!
Wenger needs to come out and tell us what's going on.stan and ivan are a bunch of wa**ers that have ridiculed the arsenal faithful. The c**ts were galavanting in the middle east building up our hopes yet they have delivered nothing absolutely nothing.
They should f**k off and let someone else do the job.And if wenger doesn't buy the quality that is required to mount a serious challenge he can join them aswell.
We have a decent team with injuries mounting up but not a marquee signing insight.the club needs a pick up a buzz before the derby game. All we have is two freebies whilst the neighbours are going for it. They are looking dangerous and attracting quality yet they aren't even in the champions league. What is wrong with our club.
If they don't spend the money why don't the c+*ts subsidise and drop the extortionate ticket prices we have to pay every week. we are so close to something so good but are held back by scrooges and stubborn aholes.

pay every

Believable0 Unbelievable0

AHA. maybe we get 2 free then buy one

Hi all my first post
Great site eds.
Does anyone believe that every manager knows who is going to make big changes a long time before they do ie sir red nose knew that spurs where going to spend big ie he quit whilst he was ahead knowing that everyone was spending big. I mean let's be honest this season could go to anyone of 5 teams yep even the enemy. If so why hasn't aw brought anyone in yet it is because I believe he changed his targets from may be hig fellaini and whoever to some real big names that have become available

So in this crazy world of football. if anything does happen. and arsenal do buy a player or two then atleast it would ease my worries, somewhat.

So the transfer merry go round. goes.

Torres to LFC> Suarez to RMFC > Benzema> AFC?

i can't believe that one bit.

I understand a very reliable person has put his neck on the line about the 40 mill signing, so would be interesting to see who.

I would prefer to sign Ozil and Di maria only to wipe that smug the spurs have had.

but some free players like carlton cole would do.

they should setup an area where fans can go and pelt the free signing they don't like.
