Some tough draws for the premier league teams in the champions league with City getting what looks the pick of the lot.

Tough games is what we want for the EPL teams in the CL and if not tough long away games. To have a chance we need to get through the early stages with a semi second string of players.

I don't know about top 4 or even cup success but for me this season is already the most interesting for years, away to Cardiff isn't on paper the most glamorous of fixtures but because we are watching change happen every game is exiting watching to see who Dick plays and how they are progressing within the new system, plus none of us have a clue what time the first substitution will be made and that alone is more interesting than what we've been used to :-)

Encouraging article on sky: what has emery changed, last year we ranked 8th for distance covered, we so far rank first and first in high intensity sprints as well, it's a bit like headless chickens at times, but at least he's got them working harder already and hopefully they get used to it soon and do it more intelligently.

Headless chickens is an improvement on sitting ducks mate :-)

It will be interesting to see Emery's team selection for the Cardiff match.

Cech
Bellerin Mustafi Sokratis Monreal
Torreira Xhaka
Mkhitaryan Ramsey Welbeck
Aubameyang

The DM pairing of Torreira and Xhaka looks promising as Torreira has the defensive ability and positional sense to allow Xhaka to play in his favoured role, as a sort of more defensive number 10, linking the defence with the attack
My two dilemmas were, whether to include Lacazette up top and play Aubameyang wide. However Welbeck tends to be able to work harder defensively opposed to Aubameyang who is better from an attacking perspective and whether to include Guendouzi in the midfield three.

I think I actually die a little every time I see Mustafi, Xhaxa and Welbeck on the team sheet.

Bit like it must be for other sides when they see Smalling, Jones, Fellaini, Young and Darmian or Cahill, Moses and Fabregas or Sissoko, Aurier and Janssen along with Liverpool when it was Karius, Klavan and Moreno.

We are away from home, our away record is dire due to players like xhaka, bellerin, mustaffi and an out of sorts cech. We are stuck with mustaffi (who hasn't been that bad so far) and to a certain extent cech. So if Dick isn't keen on leno, lich has to replace bellerin and a midfield three of torriera, goundouzi and either ramsey or al ninny. Front three has to be myki lacca and auba. Get the flimsy players out for the away game.

I think Leno will be our cup keeper this season and number 1 next season.
