I think there's room for both Jenks and Debuchy and also Gibbs and another very good LB. Cover for injuries and suspensions plus rotation and serious competition for places would give all four plenty of game time.
Add a CB and DM and we'd be looking strong in all departments.

Podolski.
35 goals in 82 appearances.
In most teams he would be first choice every week.
Weird.

Very weird.

Most keepers cover 0.7 of a mile during a game Poldolski covers 0.3 inches .
I think if he matched his fantastic finishing ability with half the work rate of Sanchez he'd start every game and be worth £75 million plus

1404. Must be a different one from you because I haven't seen him play.
Agree0

I pretty much agree with g62, Podolski doesn't work hard enough for me to merit a starting place.
His finishing ability is undoubted, but it's his work ethic which lacks, when you see how hard Sanchez, Welbeck and The Oz work off the ball it's more evident.
I think the same can be said for Campbell aswell, he just doesn't work hard enough off the ball

Hearing news of a potential £1.6million move to Arsenal for Legia Warsaw's 16-year-old Krystian Bielik. Never seen him play and never heard of him but been told my a Polish friend! Any members/Eds got any news of this youngster? Born 1998. Crazy!

{Ed002's Note - This is a month or so old news and the player has already visited London - there should be something in the archive.}

Was just reading about our on loan players on arsenal.com. the article included jenko, toral, afobe, kris olsson and vickers.
apparently these guys have impressed their coaches, and afobe has scored an impressing 19 goals for mk dons.
my question is: which of these players do you see making an impact on the first team in the coming years?

I'd like to think that Jenko could, he is having a great season at West Ham.
Nothing is a guarantee though, after all his great reviews in Germany and some decent showings for us Thomas Eisfeld can't even make the bench at Fulham.

I believe Olsson's move has been made permanent.
To answer your question, you'd like to think that any youngster like Afobe who is excelling in the football league should see success in the premier league as a realistic goal.
Jenkinson is a tough one because do we have room in the team for him? I doubt he'll be happy with playing second fiddle to Debuchy

Thoughts on Coquelain and our cdm problem?
He has come back into the team and shown great energy and desire. I think he is a far better alternative to Flamini. He has pace, strenght and inst too bad on the ball either. Flamini just seems to shout at people and give the ball away in dangerous areas.
I think rather than buying a stop gap cdm (we already have enough of them) we wait until summer to buy a top class cdm. You all know the players we want and the names we've been linked with. My personal favourites are Sami Khedira and Morgan Schnierderlin. We can sign one of them once Flamini and Diaby are off the wage bill. i'd keep le Coq as he can cover CDM, RB and LB.
I think in Jan what we really need is a defender. Winston Reid, Ron Vlaar, Van Dijk are all options. We just need someone to fill in so we don't have to play Monreal or Debuchy there.
Debuchy and Jenkinson (RB)
Mert, Kos, Chambere and Reid (CB)
Gibbs and Monreal (LB)
Bellerin and Hayden loaned out
Thats more than enough defensive cover.

I agree that we should use Coq more and if it means waiting until the summer to sign a world class CDM instead of signing a half decent one in January, then we should.
That does look a lot more like it in terms of defensive cover. However, I wouldn't mind a better LB than Monreal as I really don't rate him - I can't fault his attitude or effort though.
Agree0

The problem is who really believes100% we'll sign a top class DM in the summer let alone January if we finish 4th again without one
Agree0
Disagree0
I dunno how you define a top class signing as anyone can be incredible or a total flop, but I definitely believe we will sign a DM in the summer who will satisfy most people.
A song/schneiderlin double swoop would be nice :P

Ed please assure me the Cavani to Arsenal thing is nonsense, all that money in wages would need to be found at a cost of getting players we do need and would make no sense at all

{Ed002's Note - Search engine broken?}
Much as I like Giroud and Welbeck (and Podolski too but I fear he will leave in January) you cannot turn down the chance to sign a striker of Cavani's class:
