ozil or sanchez? who would you say is our best player. obviously last season there could be no debate and currantly ozil is our player of the season. i personally couldn't choose between them currantly, both world class but in different ways :)

30 Dec 2015 23:06:48
That's like asking who do you love most, your Son or Daughter :-)

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 23:25:35
Mesut this season and last, Alexis is in ya face brilliant Mesut is much more subtle but IMO less replaceable.
Campbell has done his best Sanchez impression and you can see tiny bits of the man himself but Ozil impressionist! Where do you start?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 23:26:56
If your Sunderland or villa now and offered ozil or sanchez who do yo u take?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 00:20:04
Good point Derby but if your Barcelona ask yourself the same question?
Sanchez is the deluxe engine but Ozil the onboard computer that just blows your mind with what it its capable of with the simple push of a button.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - pretty much sums up modern football.}

31 Dec 2015 08:56:18
The way barcalona play I'd say Sanchez if one is injured. Barcelona don't really play with a number 10 they have iniesta rakatic and busquets behind em.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 01:29:09
Sanchez is better no question! I have never been a ozil doubter and he has been not just in fine form but world class form, but when it comes to who's the best I think there is no comparison as Sanchez can and will change a game and as good as ozil has been he can and will go missing sometimes.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 08:57:52
Difficult to compare 2 totally different players, but if you're asking who is the most talented or technically gifted, then I'm sure you already know the answer. Ozil is top ten in the world for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:27:34
Wenger.

"I will be busy in January. We need to strengthen".

Good stuff.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 22:35:25
He'll spend the month trying to find a good price on a job lot of ankle and knee braces to strengthen our crocked squad then on February the 1st he'll say he couldn't find good quality ones available.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 23:07:20
Ouch 1404, ouch :-)

30 Dec 2015 22:17:02
Its any one's guess I know but wil there be a debut champions league side from the premier league next season? Leicester or Palace?
Or will it be the usaul suspects of Arsenal city utd Liverpool or even to some degree spurs who have all been there before by the time May gets here?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 22:29:14
1. Arsenal.
2. City.
3. Leicester.
4. Spurs.

So, Leicester and Spurs for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:44:39
Spurs above Leicester for me dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 23:08:12
That wouldn't surprise me Derby, they have impressed me this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:22:43
G62, if I was to put my own hard earned cash on it the table might end like this:

1. Man city
2. Arsenal
3. Spurs
4. Leicester
5. Liverpool
6. Crystal Palace
7. Manchester United.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Dec 2015 08:26:57
Spurs won't finish in the top four, they've got a month from hell towards the end of the season, and one thing you can garuntee, the cockerel always chokes!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 08:52:44
28 as things stand I'd go along with your prediction there mate, let's see how busy Arsenes January really is and what exactly it is that's going to keep him so busy.
If he signed a top striker and a very capable DM I would definitely need to reevaluate my thoughts and keep my diary free for the last weekend of the season as it could be a very long one :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 08:57:25
You may be right 1404 but I think spuds will be 3rd possibly
The other teams are worse than them.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 20:59:18
At the time of posting :-)
How can Liverpool be only 2 wins away from city and just 3 from us and Leicester? they've been topsy turvy both under Brendan and Jurgen.
You can't take your eye off this seasons table for a minute it seems.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 21:39:37
Man Utd have been poor all season, yet are just 9 points behind us.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 21:48:30
Its incredible Dags, any team who can go on a run of say 5 to 7 wins on the trot can find themselves right back in the title race or in ours city and Leicesters caeses way out in front.
Everything to play for still for so many sides.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:33:13
G62,
I think the next 12 games will sort out the wheat from the chaff.

I honestly think a run of 9 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat would make us league winners.

However, the same could also be said of Leicester and City.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 01:47:37
That's a pretty good shout Dags. If that's the case then I think 5 wins and a draw from last 7 would do it. 84 points. Only City are capable of a run to topple that which isn't an impossibility of course.

{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Stick Or Twist With Van Gaal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 20:20:46
I don't think it's to late for LVG to turn it round but I do think if he's going to be given more time he needs to be backed one last time in this window.
He has to bring in a couple of players who over perform and lead the way from day one to help him regain the confidence of both the fans and players who it appears are both waiting for his replacement to arrive.
Stick or twist? I'd twist given the 100% backing financially and every other possible way the club has given him that has failed so miserably in terms of both results and performance but if your going to stick another 50 to £70 million is nothing compared to what's already be thrown away.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 20:26:03
Everyone always thinks it's the window, 1 or 2 players compared to the 20 he already has. They should be doing better. I am fearful when Wenger steps away, we have had it good for a long time now.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 20:43:07
Rooster what if LVG could some how fine a Sanchez and Le Coq this window?
Both had the fans media and team mates eating out the palm of their hand within a couple of months of arriving or playing regularly, if LVG could somehow find their equivalents things might change very very quickly for him and utd.
Take Kos and Ozil out of Arsenal or Cech and Belerin or Monreal and Ramsey, two players can't win games on their own but two missing can make the world of difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 20:59:41
For sure G that would help, but they aren't going anywhere without some of their high priced talent getting on form. Like Chelsea these world class players shouldn't be looking for someone to walk in the door and save them, they have been awful.

What I love about us is that Sanchez, Cazorla etc go down and the rest have picked them up - its really been a boost, I would have thought we were in big trouble when Sanchez went down, now when he comes back he will be more part of the team than saviour.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 21:43:59
Very true Rooster I've been delighted how well we've coped without Sanchez especially at Olypiakos and home to city 2 massive results if honest I wasn't sure was possible without him, he comes back an asset for sure but not essential which is very good for us and him.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:33:10
i hope they stick! :) but surely they have to twist, if they plan to get rid of him at the end of the season anyway, what's the point in giving him more money to spend on players that the new manager 6 months later might not want. i also can't really see he has the confidence to turn it round, his main characteristic used to be arrogant confidence. but that seems to of gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:47:16
Give any manager 250mill to spend on this squad and we are not going to be as bad as lvg and manu. Can't see it.

I still say di maria would be firing for us now if he had joined us.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 23:25:20

Cech speaks 5 languages and organises defence by speaking Spanish to fullbacks, French to Kos and Englsh to BFG! Pretty impressive and shows how he helps organise us even further!

Hats off to Cech and thank you for the 15 points we will see you earn us plus the others you do through getting us organised which makes you look quiet at times!

Bloody great signing

Shows what World Class signings do for you - Ozil, Sanchez, Ozil -> well played Wenger.

30 Dec 2015 16:27:02
With the January transfer window ready to be swung open in a matter of days, who are you hoping we will sign? With Wenger stating that we will be busy it's positive signs that he's ready to address the weak links we have. I'd love nothing more than us to sign Carvaliho but with the Egyptian guy being 'signed' it seems unlikely that we will sign him :/ big ask but even big Benz would be nice lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 12:33:38
do you think wenger has been bang on chateau over the Christmas period? Very unlike him to come out and say he is and will be busy in any transfer window, let alone the January window that he is usually so critical of.

On the 7th January, our FA Cup campaign starts once again with us once again trying to defend our trophy. Just to get you guys in the spirit - in recent times, what is your favourite Arsenal FA Cup goal?

Mine has to be Santi's free kick vs Hull in the final 2014. What a goal and started a great comeback.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 15:09:20
My favourite goal is the 3 in the opening 20 minutes against utd, take ya pick any of them will do for me.

Could Villa be the first team ever to be officially 'relegated' with about 10 games to spare?
(Based on current form they could face the drop after about 28 games) .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 Dec 2015 07:37:37
Well dags as you say on current form they could be, it would be a shame if that were to happen, there's just as much tension in a relegation battle as there is in a title battle, especially when there's 3 teams fighting for it. If they were to be mathematically relegated with 10 games to go then their moral would just drop entirely, they wouldn't put up much of a fight in match would they when they have nothing to fight for.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 09:13:11
I disagree Essex. Perhaps players will think if I play well another premiership team might go in for me over the summer. Could go either way.

Half way through a very topsy turvy season.

The usual players never appear, Wilshere and Rosicky, add Welbz to that list, plus our customary 7 or 8 injuries, yet we are top of the table, with the best win rate in prem.

Our main 'rivals' are stuttering.
We are 9 in front of bore Utd and a massive 19 in front of Chelsea.

We are 3 in front of City, not a lot, but better than being 3 behind.

We have, IMO, a good front line in Walcott and Giroud, 2 very different players who offer 2 totally different styles of play, which gives us upfront options.

We have, again IMO, our best back 4 in years (shush about the Southampton game) , who are a very cohesive defensive unit, with options should we get injuries/ suspensions.

Our midfield, baring injuries, is the best in the prem, IMO, again with good back up on the bench.

Trust me, we will win the league this year.

Remember this post.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

30 Dec 2015 10:04:36
Dags,

I appreciate your positive spin here but you have to take on board that we have been told that we'll never win the league with Wenger in charge, no hang on, now that there is a possibility, we are a rubbish team who got lucky because the whole league is crap anyway, and that Wenger must go even if he does win it. Let's no forget that Monk and Mourinho, both surprisingly jobless, are better than him.

That we'll never win the league unless we buy another 14 defensive midfielders whom at least 6 of them have to be Victor Wanyama, despite the fact Southampton won't sell him in January, despite the fact after his game for Celtic against Barcelona the only club that wanted him was Southampton and despite the fact Wenger has had countless opportunities to buy him but prefers Carvalho. At least when Wanyama doesn't arrive we can all blame Wenger.

Also don't forget we'll sell Jack for £15 in January as he has another injury, oh no sorry it's his original injury taking longer to heal, just a little drama for effect there.

Let's also not forget Flamini, Arteta and Rosicky should of been released in 2001 and Wenger is not going to buy in January FACT.

So all in all I'm going with all the other predictions of a fight for fourth with Bore United from Legoland, well unless of course Maureen arrives and they buy 7 new players then of course they'll win the league.

Finally and sorry, this is the real killer, you really need to bare in mind that if it isn't to be this year then it will be NEVER EVER EVER, sorry mate but City will buy Messi, United will buy a whole new team that CAN play football and we'll be left with Rooney and Smalling.

Apart from that, happy new year mate. ;-)

30 Dec 2015 10:25:53
Red,
Damn I forgot about all of the above.

4th place trophy here we come, lol.

Good post BTW, I love the fact you took snippets of comments from everybody and mashed them up into one post :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 10:41:54
Great post Red, if we win it Arsene will be proved 100% right and if we don't it will obviously be down to the fact we can't compete financially with the cities utd's Chelsea's of this world :-)
if Arsene can't pull off the impossible this time round from this difficult position we find ourselves which is almost identical to that of 2013/ 14 season 4th place its worth it remembering 4th plave is a trophy :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 11:01:17
The main thing is guys, we all love the team, we all really really want them to win the title and underneath I'm sure we'd all love Wenger to do it for us.

Long way to go but despite our injuries, yes I know other clubs have them too, ;-) we are still in with a shout and no one else has Mesut Ozil.

Like you I have a good feeling but not sure how much they count in points or goal difference. ;-)

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 11:55:05
Anyone who calls themselves an Arsenal fan who doesn't want Arsene to make us champions this season needs to have a total rethink.
As a person I like him very very much and on his 100Oth game at Chelsea it wasn't the score or even the fact we we're totally humiliated by Chelsea that bothered me anywhere near as much as feeling so sorry for Arsene who had to stand there for 70 minutes knowing on what should have been such a brilliant occasion for him knowing he was going to have to try and explain that performance on TV in front of millions.

Personally I don't think we will ever be all we could or should be under his leadership ever again simply because he refuses to address issues for so long that the whole world can see need addressing and by the time he finally does get round to acting another 2 or 3 issues appear but that doesn't stop me wanting him to bow out on a very big high, premier league champions this season and champions league winners next would be great for us all but even greater to see Arsene archive it for us.
Hope I'm wrong and it all comes good for the man who without question is our greatest ever manager.

I'm with you 62, was a sad day for a 1000th game made all the more insufferable because of the twonk in charge of Chelsea at the time.
