Interested in gauging fans' views on what we need now. For half of this season everyone has been crying out for a CDM and could see the squad was top-heavy, but things seem less straightforward now (as in - our problems are less and certainly less exposed).
So assuming no-one shows up on Arsene's doorstep in time for the end of January, the window seems to have been used well this year to make necessary changes, with the much needed defensive options coming in and three largely unused attacking players getting valuable game time out on loan. Let's assume for a minute that Arteta and Coq both sign contract extensions, so this summer sees Poldi, Campbell and Sanogo return from loan (as well as Jenkinson, thankfully!) and Flamini and Diaby released. Probably two squad spaces freed up by then - possibly more if for example Arsene chooses to sell Poldi. Squad looking a lot more balanced, not to mention promising youth coming through too.
Looking ahead to the summer - come July, in Wenger's shoes, you've got the chance to bring in two signings with the new squad places. Which positions do you look to reinforce/improve?
(I know I've said pretend you're Wenger but that doesn't mean you have to go all out with it and stock up solely on players who want to play as our no. 10. )

{Ed025's Note - suarez and ya ya toure for me GBG..

For me BG if I had to sign just two I'd go first choice LB let either Gibbs or Monreal go and keep the other as cover plus a DM to compete with/cover even play a long side Le Coq.
If I could have 3 by letting Gibbs/Monreal go then a keeper too

Wouldn't touch Yaya, best days are behind him.

Suarez and Schneiderlin for Dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez sneiderling a goalkeeper and keoman or klopp.

Agree0 Disagree0

Schneiderlin and Lloris.
Reluctant to sign anyone else upfront as I am a big fan of Akpom, but I'd be persuaded on another striker if we got rid of Welbeck.

Agree0 Disagree0

What we need now is as always is some trophies. If we win none of these talks come up.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with u Dags. Suarez(who cares if he's a cannibal as long as he wins us games) and Schneiderlin. Those two and we will win the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Practically salivating at the thought of Sanchez and Suarez playing up front together. Defenders across the prem would probably be in cold sweats at the thought.

If you could have 3 pieces of memorebelia (football related but not necessarily Arsenal) what would it be?

1) Clock End clock.

2) Ball from 1989 victory at Anfield when we won the league.

3) A fully working turnstile.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Off the top of my head
Charlie George shirt from 71 final

The match ball from the last game against Leicester when the greatest moment in football history happened

Denis Bergkamp shirt from his last game

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - great choices mate..

Is the turnstile so the wife can't get in without a ticket?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe he wants to replicate that episode of steptoe & son where they cut the house in half eden...quality..

30 Jan 2015 22:56:31
Great question.

1.) The shirt Zidane wore in the 1998 world cup final

2.) The match ball from our 2-1 win over Barca.

3.) The boots from when Thierry Henry scored on his second debut

A brick from the wall Adams smashed into
The suitcase Hillier stole from
The brown paper bag GG got paid in

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - theres always one!.. :)

1)the very small piece of turf that I got from Highbury when we won the fairs cup (lost it VERY Much later in the Gunners arms
2)Charlie George's Right Boot (I'm with you gunner 62)
3) One of Dennis Bergkamps shoelaces or all of Robin Van Persie - worth about the same

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love the last bit ECE..

Excilled mate No3 beats anything I've ever read on here ever before, total class my friend like the great Bergkamp himself

Agree0 Disagree0

The funny thing is that Bergkamp was RVP's idol and you would think that if one of DB10s boot laces came up for auction, RVP with all his money would buy it.

However, it would be no good to him at all as he really is "not fit to lace his boots!"

mwwwaaaaaaaaaa.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one 337

Agree0 Disagree0

Btw thanks g62. agree about DB10- the best there's ever been.

Think I'd have to go for memorabilia from some of the most unbelievable things I've seen as a football supporter

1. Cantona's boots from the 'Kung fo kick'

2. Seamans gloves from that wonder save in the FA cup

3. Nicky B's 52k a week contract for being 'barely' a footballer, unbelievable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good question Dags. I would have to go for: 1) the gloves Pat Jennings (my childhood hero) wore on his last game for Arsenal. 2) the boots Champaigne Charlie wore to score the winning goal in the 87 league cup final, my first ever final at wembley, and 3) Alan Sunderlands 1979 FA cup winning moustache. my greatest footballing memory from childhood, his celebration after scoring the winning goal. still sends shivers down my back when I watch.

Anyone who wants Guardiola as our next manager or thinks he's the best in the world should be watching Bayern tonight.

He has taken one of the best teams I've ever seen and made them pretty average in comparison. They are even more open at the back than us. We would get absolutely slaughtered in the media. I'd slaughter us if we played as open as them.

He constantly changes the teams, thinks he can change it to make it better and completely ruins it. His teams play boring, slow football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im not a big fan either G95..

I'm not a big fan either but to keep it in perspective, its the first game they lost all season, the players might still think they're on thier holidays, they were 11points clear and any team can have a blip, Chelsea 2-4 Bradford, Tottenham 5-3 Chelsea city 0-2 middlesburugh football throws up shocks, it would be boring if it didn't

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 22:58:29
Don't rate him.

Would love to see him manage an 'avarage' team.

{Ed025's Note - arsenal?... :)

Assistant to Arsene Ed :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

No we don't want a manager who has won top trophies and built a team once classed as the best ever. We don't want a manager who wins leagues and the European cup. he's rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

The bayern before were direct and ruthless. His teams pass for passing sake. So boring. He takes worlds best right back and left back and move them about

He was raving about lahm centre mid zzzz. I just don't see it. he's one of greatest full backs ever. Leave him there

Had something pointed out to me today that I didn't believe, but remarkably, mr wenger has spent a whopping £95m on transfer fees alone since the summer!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2015 17:29:13
Sanchez £35m.
Welbz £16m.
Chambers £16m.
Ospina £3m.
Debuchy £12m.
Paulista £13m.

And to think, you get my jokes for nothing.

You lucky people.

Agree0 Disagree0

Over a ton then with Kritian Bielik??

Agree0 Disagree0

And still looking to grab that fourth place by the horns.

Agree0 Disagree0

^^ So what are you trying to say, with 6 first team players injured for the first half, we were going to be on top by 10 pts lead. Sheesh

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 11:01:27
So wengers said he doesn't expect anymore signings, unless there's an exceptional player stood on his door step in morning.

He also said Coquelin should be signing a new contract, who's happy with the ins and outs of this window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Without sounding too much like aw, the main problem was injuries to key players for long periods. We now have back kos, theo, giroud, ozil and Ramsey these players were a massive miss, half our starting outfield team. Debouchy is the main key player still missing along side jw in my opinion.

Signing what looks like a top cb is a massive improvement and the emergence of coquelin and bellerin was by chance but has proved excellent

I'm happy

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 11:46:42
I wouldn't believe much Wenger says on signings - he is notorious about keeping them under wraps but I think if somebody was available at the right price, he would try to sign before the close of the window.

As much as I would have loved Pod and Campbell to stay, I think they needed to go out on loan in order to get some valuable experience. We have an academy for a reason so hopefully we will see Akpom being used more often - either to support or replace Giroud in the starting lineups.

I always think that its not great to make big changes in January, the squad is settled and we are into various competitions. The additions we have made are in areas which needed it, so that is a positive. let's hope they both turn out to be decent players for us! Only time will tell!

Agree0 Disagree0

Very happy :), assuming some of the players we've loaned out have a future at the club - oh and Coqueelin signs a new contract.

Then again, speaking too soon and all that, I hope Paulista doesn't turn out to be a Mangala (I thought Mangala looked great before he came to the prem) but yes I'm very optimistic now after a good January window. We've finally filled the biggest hole in our squad and some of our fringe players should improve with some much needed game time on loan at other clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need another signing. i'm amazed manu havnt got in a centre half yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Me, as good as we could have realistically asked for in view of Coqs Riding to the rescue to stake a claim as the missing link .

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea we need to raid more of SH as righ DG :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think mangala will come good. he has everything to be a top defender

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's about as good as we could have hoped for. I'm optimistic for a top 3 challenge and maybe fa cup again.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 13:17:07
337 I agree, our squads more balanced now player's can have a rest if they get a slight injury.

Derby, not sure nother signing is needed, but if it improves the squad then yes.

G62, he's looked great over the last few weeks, really hope wenger doesn't just drop him for flamini or arteta, when he's back.

Thehood, Is that from one of dags Christmas crackers?

Agree0 Disagree0

So arteta has not signed a new deal yet? I'd love cavani onloan. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 17:30:46
Very happy.

Would have been happier with Schneiderlin but still very happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 10:17:17
OK who do you think in order are our 5 players we do or would struggle most without.
For me its
1Giroud because everything works so much better with him than without him
2 Kos because when he's missing we always seem to be likely to conceded a couple of soft goals
3 Coq because noone else has his disaplined attitude to just sit and hold
4 Sanchez because he's a match winner on bad days as well as good days and leads by glowing example.
5 Ozil I know its difficult to see or believe but beneath that lazy exterior is the king of assists who dispite not setting the world on fire has created more than meets the eye, get the best from him and the above and we will take some stopping

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2015 11:22:34
1) diaby, always there when our players get injured, they know he's there to talk too.

2) shezza, always willing to get the cigs out after a game.

3) wengers coat, even when the games boring it adds some comedy to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Without a doubt our five players we missed most first half of the season were.

Kos
Theo
Giroud
Ramsey
Ozil

Take five players of his quality away from any team and they will struggle

Add Debouchy, jack, arteta and Gibbs to that list and these four are also important squad players which have been missing for long periods.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2015 12:04:24
