Hi, Just wondered if there is any interest in Gustavo, does not get in the Byern team and would want to play 1st team football due to world cup year and is a great DM.

Really hope these Rooney rumours are true, and that we have launched a formal £21m bid. Even if we don't sign him that's a real sign of intent. If he got his sh!t together and played ST regularly he could regain his top form. On the other hand boy is he a hateful character. I'd rather take RVP back.

so transfer window officially opens tomorrow so if these higuain stories are true and he's agreed terms and ancelotti has agreed to the sale then surely all we need is to complete a medical tomorrow and he's ours?
still got a bad feeling it won't happen

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me as well. Just seems too good to be true. Why would Wenger change the habit of a lifetime?

when ever I am feeling down I think of the 50% sell on fee we had with blackburn for david bentley.

how much did the spurs pay for him.

lmfao

malaga gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Still above them still have there money, still the kings of north London. We took Sol they settled with Gallas hahahaha

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs have signed those 2 Croats you where after for €20million tonight.
Now, when ever I'm feeling down, I will think of those bleating posts last week about spurs stealing your targets.
Now that really is something to laugh about. Something current, not years old.
COYS. {Ed027's Note - I just try to think about the last time you finished above us, when was it again?

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. To easy ed. too easy. {Ed027's Note - Haha & which Croats have Spurs signed tonight?

Agree0 Disagree0

Meow ed. hook line and sinker.
I thought you was better than that. {Ed027's Note - So did I, but I can see the abuse they are giving, you can't, it is well deserved and nothing compared to what I am getting.

Agree0 Disagree0

It still doesn't stop every arsenil fan worrying about spurs day in day out ed.
If you lot supported your own, half as much as you worry about spurs, then your place wouldn't be a library.
Every arsenil blog/web page features the word 'spurs' somewhere. {Ed027's Note - Likewise with Spurs mate, and all other rival clubs.

25%. of 16. 75m. One day you will get something right. km

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we were only after Jedvaj and not the other one as far as I'm aware (Halilovic). And for 20m euros you can keep them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh look!

malaga gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

So you should flybo :)
I'd be very sleepy after 90 mins at your place :)
That's unfair. You probably play the best football in the league. As a spurs fan, I actually don't mind arsenal. They, like spurs, run their club the right way.
Unlike the clubs that buy all their silverware. It just galls me when the likes of Malaga have nothing better to do than post crap like he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

'The kings of north london'?
You are from woolwich.

Agree0 Disagree0

Trying to remember in the whole of my life on what day I have ever worried about the spurs

Still can't think of one, oh it was a Thursday and then I remembered it didn't concern us

Agree0 Disagree0

Does that make Spurs "Kings of Middlesex"? I do believe that's where you are from? We where I'm North Londom first technically.

Boisey

Agree0 Disagree0

We are from Woolich. We got bored when we conquered South London, so we decided to conquer North. Which we have done surprisingly easily.
All joking aside, even though I despise your lot. I respect you more then other clubs.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

It's been such a long time that we were Woolwich Arsenal, I've forgotten how to spell it.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

Which two players? I don't remember us being linked to them?

We have money now, debt free money. Not borrowing, not having to beg Mr Levy. We're after good, high quality established players.

Agree0 Disagree0

The mark of success for any club is winning their highest domestic league. We've done it 13 times and the mob from 3 miles up the Seven Sisters have done it twice. More to the point we have won 6 since their last success over 50 rotten years ago! When I was growing up the Spurs supporters in our school were always the spoilt ones with the flash haircuts and the latest Pringle jumpers or LaCoste T-shirts. Suppose it was meant to make up for their perpetual disappointment. All dosh but no class.

What are your opinions on Mikel Arteta? Haven't watched a great deal of Arsenal in the past year or so but the reason I ask is because I'm a season ticket holder at Ibrox and when we had him as a youngster he was a great player, but as far as I'm aware he has played a bit deeper since he moved to Arsenal? How do you guy's view him?

GRD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is a good player but wenger is playing him out of posistion at arsenal because we don't have a decent defensive midfielder if he just played cm like he was at everton he would be good
sussex gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Bearing in mind he's been played out of position. He has kept us ticking over for the last two seasons. An ultimate professional.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

What is the meaning of "out of position"? The guy trained as a DM but Moyes converted him "out of position" into a roving midfielder- more of the el pivote type than a typical attacking midfielder. He was supposed to continue that role at Arsenal but Song forced himself into it and as a mature, disciplined guy, Mikel stayed back for the good of the team.

Lanz

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta was player of the year in my mind,

we needed a captain and he stepped up.

not enough credit given to him.

malaga gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2013 22:17:03
His attitude is first class. Ball retention great but his not a natural def midfield. Worthy captain and gives 100%. Would benefit from having a young strong defensive midfielder because he sometimes gets caught out with his lack of pace. He missed the last 5 or so games the end of last season. We really missed him. km

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta is the worst player at the club, weak, slow, misses loads of passes and no creativity and the only reason his passing stats are so good is just because he passes back and therefore can't really give the ball away. He is useless whatever position he plays.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunno what the poster above me is thinking, does he even know who Arteta is? Granted he doesn't have the pace anymore but his passing and creation of chances is up there with the best in our team. The definitive 'classy' player.

Oxy Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting views guys, cheers. FYI Lanz, Mikel was not "trained" as a defensive midfielder. Rangers had him young and he was very much a central midfield player who liked to get forward, just as he was at Everton.

I've been watching a good amount of sanogo playing for France in the u20 tournament. I've got to say I'm excited at the prospect of him in an arsenal shirt. He definitely has the raw talent to become quite an influential player, his dribbling is good and his first touch is not too shabby either. The only thing I noticed is that his passing execution needs some work, although he does seem to know we he does need to pass it. I'm confident wenger can develop him if he stays fit, which is probably the last "if" statement arsenal supporters want to here unfortunately. I'm still looking forward to seeing him in the capital one cup.

I have a good feeling that higuain will join the club this week, and that excites me more than anything because whenever he has the ball in the box he seems to put it in the back of the net. I think he'll do great in the pl, especially with the midfield service arsenal are certainly capable of providing. Excited for the 17th, as I don't think gazidis will be able to give an empty promise to arsenal fans anymore after 8 years. Really wish I could go to London to see a game, living in Boston I've only heard stories about the atmosphere at pl games; definitely going to London if I study abroad at university.

Just read an interesting point about a possible CB signing for Arsenal in Sakho below me on this page and it got me thinking. With TV5 being pushed to the sidelines towards the end of last season the apparent lack of adequate DM players available for transfer so far this summer. Might it be an interesting proposition for us to sign a promising centre half like Jedvaj or Sakho and let TV5 become that tough tackling, athletic, strong and decliplined DM we are after? He seems to have all the qualities we are looking for a potential signing and it sitting right beneath our noses. Just a thought.

Bear Gunner.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

TV5 for CM again!

He is a CB and last year was not good enough to get in the team at his chosen position, why on earth would he be good enough to play somewhere else?

Maybe get him some platform shoes and stick him in goal?

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not a disciplined centre half - why would he be better in midfield

Praise Wenger for dropping him rather than trying to keep him happy playing out of position just like ex England bosses do with the big names

Not sure he is good enough on the ball either - he carries the ball from defence as there is space to run into

We should be in a position to play people in the right position and have quality in those positions because we are the Arsenal - don't compromise

SY4

Agree0 Disagree0

If he were to be a DM it would have happened by now. The guy is a CB through and through.

However, Sakho looks a more than decent CB with good leadership skills.

What I've seen of Jedvaj has only been YouTube clips, but he looks like a mad beast!

I would play TV5 over arteta any day of week in DM or any position

Does anyone know if Di Maria or Sanchez are available?

We have been missing a wide threat in our team for years now, how great would it be to sign DiMaria and Higuain.

Higuain
Podolski
Walcott
Cazorla
DiMaria
Wilshere
Arteta
Giroud

These are the sorts of names we need to start seeing in the line up if we want to start winning things.

With a few smart signings and nobody important leaving, we can finally get some consistency in the squad, providing us with a much better chance of winning silverware.

Nick.

If Higuian's agent says we are close and it's gone silent for a few days, I think that's a sign that we are going to sign him, big deals take time, especially if they are involving our beloved arsenal. I think Higuian will be on an arsenal shirt next year!

Everton fan in peace here, coming to tell you what you are in for should you sign Marouane Fellaini from us.

When he is at his absolute best, Fellaini is unplayable, as shown in Everton vs Manchester United at Goodison last season, where Fellaini bullied the United defence and eventually scored the winner for us.

However, the problem with Fellaini is he never replicated that sort of performance again in the season, he had some decent games but he was very inconsistent.
He also has a tendency to almost strop when things aren't going his way and then doesn't really impact the games.

I also believe, as do a lot of other Evertonians, that the media had a tendency to exaggerate Fellaini's importance, like they highlighted his performance in many games, when in reality he played ok and there were other players such as Mirallas, Baines and Gibson who were much much much better than him.

Hope I've given you a bit of insight of what you could be in for, he is a quality player but there are downsides to him as well, please don't take this as me being unhappy about Fellaini potentially leaving as I'm not particularly, due to the downsides of the player I have outlined in this post.

ToffeeTony

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats' fair enough, you obviously know the player well.

I think he could do a good job for us, as indeed arteta has.

In fact I remember some evertonions saying a similar type thing about arteta, 'not the player he once was', etc. Maybe he isn't, but I don't think many could argue that he hasn't put in some good performances for arsenal.

But let's see wait and see what happens.

Thought this is interesting, wenger
speaking at a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s trip to play Everton in Nov (2012).
London Evening standard:

The Gunners boss said of the big-haired Belgian: “I just think he is a good player. Everton’s offensive game turns around him. He is the target man they look for, and in recent years he is moving further forward.

“When he arrived at Everton he was more defensive. Now he is more forward. He uses his body well, but he is not a dirty player. He is an intelligent player and can alternate between attack and defence. ”

As the Evening Standard remarks, Wenger likes intelligent players. "Intelligent players always have the capacity to improve".

Asked whether Fellaini could do a job at Arsenal, Wenger smiled and replied: “Yes. ”

LG

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Fellaini could well do a good job for you, as you say, let's wait and see. Him leaving us might not be so bad as it would give Martinez a good £25 million to spend. Also I was one of them Evertonians who though Arteta wasn't what he once was, but he has been great for you, and his hair's still fantastic!

Higuain, Cesar and Postman Sanogo will all be completed this week. (In my opinion)

Higuain, coming back from his holiday today ready for a flight to England tomorrow to sort final details out.

Cesar, Redknapp has said that he will leave, and the keeper himself has stated he wants to stay in london.

Postman Pat, everyone knows this deal has been done, and tbh this is the most likeliest deal to be completed tomorrow.

Fellani is a no go.

Would love to sign Richards, but iv got a feeling he wants to be a one club man.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jun 2013 12:31:49
Cesar seems unlikely in my opinion he was angling for a move to Rome in an iinterview at the confederations cup last week. Sanogo, Aurier, and Higuain seem likely. But Higuain is taking forever, those quotes his agent made about Napoli in the same interview he said he was close to us still sit in the back of my head, with Madrid interested in Cavani I just feel there may be a twist to come. Maybe Fellaini too & with Djorou and Squallci gone I expect a CB aswell maybe a cheap one.

quick thoughts about higuain, rooney and torres.

first - we need only one of them. they should be playing as a center forward only, forget about putting them to the wings or am. we have other players who are more suited to do the job there. we also have giroud (who I expect will improve a lot from last season), so no need for two center forwards.

who's my favorite? higuain easily. I don't like rooney's attitude and torres isn't simply good enough, hasn't been for ages. higuain in!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Torres got 22 goals in all competitions last season, he's not as bad as everyone thinks he is, was a lot better than aguero last season.

Surely with the need of an experienced goalkeeper, we could try and sign Diego Lopez? He is an excellent keeper and with Ancelotti stating that Casillas would be his number one, DL is free to leave. He is younger than Cesar by 2 years and is probably slightly better. He may also be cheaper than Cesar, because Madrid only bought him in Jan for about 2.5m.

If what the papers are saying is true about arsenal making a 20mil bid for rooney, the hig deal must be off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why? we have and potentially losing some big earners off the wage bill that haven't contributed to the team at all, Squillaci, Arshavin, lose Gervinho and Chamakh and you've made enough space on the wage bill to pay Hig and Roo and you've got 2 contributing players that will make a huge difference and your just finding transfer costs.

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Or a different perspective.

Is it so inconceivable that arsenal want both players? Just because (if it is true) that there might be interest in Rooney, it doesn't necessarily mean the higuain deal is off.

ed with arsenal apparently making a rooney bid and the higuain deal 90% done do you think

1. higuain will come
2. rooney will come
3. both will come
4. on top of those 2 we sign fellani and cesar

I know its a lot thanks you guys are great

Bergkamp5353 {Ed027's Note - I think Higuain will sign. But Rooney I just can't see it, why would he come, it pains me to say this, but why would he leave winning trophies very year and getting paid 250k a week for Arsenal? Before someone says is this not the same with Higuain, no it is not Higuain is on affordable wages, and wants to leave to play football and hates it at Madrid, he wants to increase his chances of starting for Argentina. I think we will also sign a holding mid, attacking mid, centre back and a keeper. Along with a few youngsters (Sanogo, Crowley, Aurier?)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Higuain is a regular starter for Argentina and is ahead of Tevez and Aguero.
Rooney would leave because he doesn't get on with David Moyes and will see less football with Manchester United being linked with another striker signing this summer as well, plus he is not happy how Van Persie has come in and taken the CF role and is the star at Manchester United. {Ed027's Note - Doesn't mean he's guaranteed a place with the attacking talent they have, he needs to be first choice, he isn't at Madrid, he needs to prove to the Argentina coach he is the first choice striker. Rooney would leave, but to Arsenal? Where is the logic in that, unless were offering 300k then he will run to the emirates.

Hopefully David Moyes will persuade Rooney to stay at Manchester United and there will be no reason to bid for him.
I think Higuain is the real deal, he just needs regular football, and he is not getting that at Real.
Higuain would be a brilliant addition to our squad, as for Rooney, he is no better than some of the players we have already.

i couldn't agree more with that statement braintreegooner. also, does anybody remember the twitter spat between rooney and piers morgan? rooney started insulting arsenal and mocking the team, so I personally wouldn't have him in the club he has expressed dislike for in the past.
