Although I'm massively pleased with Cech and the possibility of a couple of other important signings, i can't help thinking is this the season Shad Forsyth comes in to his own and gets us those few extra important points that's needed to be Champions?
Now last season we again at the very beginning of the season dropped a lot of very important points due to injury to key players, but as the season went on i noticed a huge change in the way they were handled.
Firstly not one player was rushed back as has been the norm and secondly when they were back it was gradual.
This is Shad's second full season and i would think it would take at least that to get things going in the right direction.
So to summarise Cech a conservative 8 to 11 points improvement on last season and Shad's work behind the scene's another 6 to 8 points at least?
Thats League Title challenge material...

What's the latest with Schneiderlin? Are we bidding for him, or is he United bound? :)

Rest assured mate, if he signs for us he will be over priced and u didn't need him, but if he does go to arsenal he will instantly become world-class and a bargain.

Of course that didn't happen on the United page when Firmino went to Liverpool did it.

Did it stoner? Or are u just making up an argument to fit your narrative?

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 11:11:53
What part of that was an argument, it was a simple statement relating to posts that were written on your page.

Besides they say you shouldn't argue with a fool and in that field you are the king.

I loved your post on irony too. A United fan talking of a lack of class. Irony at its best.

Yeh your not arguing at all stoner.

u are right and I'll take your advice and not argue with an idiot.

I love it when someone backs CTR into a corner. He goes into typical pre programmed defence mode "I'm just winding you up guys"" like that puts the defining full stop on the banter # cop out

To late saint lol he's already off stoners leash and barking, the little chappie.

Tbh I'm quite surprised it took so litle to hook stoner this time, normally he puts up more of a fight.

Fuming lol! it's only a little poke stoner calm down sonny x

Lol stoner has a new groupie, step forward brow!

It could be anyone CTR and Id be bent over. And yes gentle poking/banter agreed. But every bit of banter back you call a bite .

So dangle your rod and remember sometimes it's a tyre or and old Wellington boot not the gurt fish you tell your mates you bagged. And gentle poking is fine but I prefer to take the whole arm up to the elbow and then say my turn!

I wish I had joined this site a few years ago. But tails are up at OT and you all can taste it. I hope not

Carvalho? How can we keep him and Le Coq happy because the two into one don't go.
Ox Ramsey Caz Jack are all fighting for 2 places to partner one DM not to mention Rosicky Arteta and Flamini who's chances will be minimal as it is.
Neither Le Coq or Carvalho will be happy as understudy to the other and rotating game by game would be silly, both are 23/24 and are now used to being first team regulars.
Carvalho has the reputation but will cost bundle's while Le Coq is tried and tested in this Arsenal team.
Ladies and Gents I put to you Carvalho will not be joining Arsenal and dispite taking a supposed knock back the Vidal to Arsenal rumours are still more likely than the latest Carvalho to Arsenal ones.

We might need Willy when the Coq needs a rest

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 21:54:49
I agree in that both play almost identical games, what we actually need now is the Viera to Le Coqs Petit, and maybe for Coq to add that bit of class that Petit had, not essential as the solidity he has given us is immense and just what we needed but Petit when he did break had such a sweet pass and his shooting wasn't too shabby.

01 Jul 2015 01:46:30
The coq must need a rest after filling so many gaps

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Jul 2015 08:55:41
i get being loyal and le coq did great next season, but if we want to win the league then we have to change that mentality of looking after our pals in case it up sets them, as you say Caz, Ramsay, Wiltshire, and even to an extent the ox are all battling for one position, so le coq needs someone to push him, if he gets into the thinking that he plays every week as we bring in someone who is only going to play when he rests his development will stop now, and we can forget about winning the league. you have to think.
All you have to do is look at chealsea and cech, we love the signing as are rightly so in belief we have one of the best keeper in the world, who has won, cups league titles and team of the season, Chelsea saw a player they thought would improve them and replaced him after 11 years great service.. we are talking about not giving a player Serious competition after 6 month good form who as yet has achieved not a lot (yet i might add) . I am all for loyalty, but not blind stupidity.

Carvahlo is exactly the player we need, tough tackling beast.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2015 10:07:16
Age was the deciding factor on Cechs chelsea future and as mourinho discovered you can't keep two top players for position happy for long, who's replacing Cech? Robert Green has been linked but I'm pretty sure it won't be De Gea.
If Harry Kane was our player would be asking for an upgrade because he cost nothing? Because for me its neck and neck between Kane and Le Coq as the best player to emerge from no where last season.
No team has two top class players for every position, yes we have Belerin and Debuchy but we also have Monreal and Gibbs, Kos and Chambers, Sanchez and Welbeck.
City have a lot of big names because they pay monster wages for reserve players like Sagna.
I get the whole over loyalty thing but if we are going to debate that Le Coq isn't the best place to start, Theo and Jack are both yet to produce a 5 month run anything close to the standard what Le Coq has just completed in a lot more attempt's.
We just need to get over the fact that we found the DM we desperately needed and was lucky enough not to have to spend 30 million to do it, because if we had signed Carvalho in January and he'd performed at the standard Le Coq did no one would be asking for Pogba.

According to BT sport John Guidettis contract runs out at midnight. Would anyone fancy him on a free?

And IMO Carvalho is a much better option than Vidal. However I would personally love to see Vidal at Arsenal. Fiesty midfielder who gets into good attacking positions. Would be good competition and a good tutor for Wilshere and Ramsey

I think we should be setting our sights a bit higher than a Man City cast off, there's no point in signing someone just because there's no transfer fee required.

Whenever I've seen Vidal play he looks like a red card waiting to happen and gets too pumped up, maybe Wenger could slightly curb his enthusiasm to multiply his effect, but it still seems like an unnecessary luxury to me.

Carvalho seems to have all the attributes but would be a risk nonetheless due to the hefty asking price and the question marks over the quality of the Portuguese league as a whole.

I highly doubt a DM will be signed and instead another internal solution will be found to provide cover for Le Coq, his rise to prominence can be viewed as a lesson and a template.

I'm not against signing a player in that position but I wouldn't be that worried if it didn't come to pass.

Wenger has calmed headless players before Viera Van Persie?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2015 22:42:49
I didn't question his ability to do so, I'm just not sure it would be worthwhile. Especially when there's already congestion in midfield and specifically with the type of player Vidal is.

Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners!

Tis been a long time since I've dispatched a post but I must admit than in my absence I have been a daily reader and am absolutely chuffed to see many of the great regulars continuing to post on a daily basis. I tip my hat to all of you who have been contributing to this wonderful platform.

In addition its great to see many new commentators, a banter site is only as good as the diverse conversations which take place over the year and its fantastic too see such participation.

And before I begin I would be failing in my duty to thank the ED's who continue providing accurate information and a platform for great dialogue to continue, cheers gentlemen.

And with that I begin what I hope will be a fruitful conversation....

My overview of the season gone past and the future is as follows:

Positional Standing improved - Positive. Going from 4th to 3rd while not yet at the standard we all wish to be I believe will benefit us without having to play in for CL qualification and psychologically removes the 4th place trophy discussion which had got a little a long in the tooth despite on the surface perhaps having some merit.

Squad Depth - Positive. After many years of limited spending, and some not so zealous purchases we appear to have a squad which can replace one another when required and can complete internally to raise the bar of performance.

Tactics - Positive. For myself personally this was the biggest area of concern and frustration over the years. i'm glad to see and perhaps serendipitously the inclusion of a ball winner in our formation. Coquelin was for me the MVP of the squad this season because he allowed his team mates to focus on their strengths.

Spending - Positive. While we can banter all day on who we purchased or should have it was good to see after signing Ozil that we followed it up with Sanchez, Wellbeck, Gabriel, Debuchy, Ospina and Chambers. All contributors at different points in the season. And it appears with the signing of Cech that we are not afraid to continue this recent trend.

Arsene. Positive. While I am a firm believer in Arsene knows best, he is not above criticism or the club. He has not always got it right and had many of us at times pulling our hair out because of what appeared to be such an easy fix. Nevertheless I believe him when he alludes to the financial constraints of the club and the decisions which were made as a result. However it appears to me from my vantage point that sacrifices were made for the longevity of the club and in this he should be commended.

Future. Positive. I believe the club is entering a very positive phase in its development. Financially we appear to have flexibility and freedom to make decisions rather them being forced upon us. I believe this will be reflected in our performance on the pitch with I hope will be a positive influence towards our title aspirations and player signings and development.

In conclusion I believe we are on the path to an enlightened period in our wonderful clubs history.

As always I wish everyone all the best and I look forward to the wonderful banter which lies ahead.

I couldn't agree more, we're finally being rewarded for our pragmatism which will make that eventual league title or, dare I say, Champions League glory taste far sweeter.

We have a well rounded squad that is nearing completion with the sprinkle of star dust that proved elusive during those frustrating years due to the reasons you alluded to.

We have the key components of momentum and belief, the days of false dawns appear to be over as we surge toward a bright horizon, leaving our rivals to search for a ray of hope in our shadow!

Or maybe those few pints have gone straight to my head!

Haven't posted for a while but I'm a regular reader ... a few questions for any of the eds

Will we sell Flamini, Rosicky and Arteta to make way for a defensive midfielder? We definitely need a bit of steel to help/provide cover for Coquelin especially if he gets called up for international duty ... I'm hoping for Carvalho, but I can only see us signing one or two more players if we ship some out. I think we are going to stick with our forwards and with a fit Debuchcy and Chambers and Gabriel I believe we have enough cover at the back ... Cech is a great signing ... so for me it's a defensive midfielder and maybe a suprise signing ... swap money deal ... hopefully Gnarbri and Zenalem will figure this season ... not sure if Giroud is still Arsene's favoured choice ... maybe a swap money deal for Benzema ... any thoughts or information on this eds ... thanks
