It's really hard to say this as a hardcore Gooner, but I think Van Persie was too good for us. We held him back, now he's flourishing, it's ashame it's for United, but what a player.

Believable3 Unbelievable38

Totally disagree we made RVP the player he is, he has Arsenal and Wenger to thank for the player he is today!Pity he thought he was bigger than the club!

Agree25 Disagree2

He flourished in his last year with us, we didn't hold him back he has just matured as a player.

HP

Agree15 Disagree0

How did we hold him back? He had a better year last year at arsenal and who knows what we and him may have achieved if he stayed fit through all those years on the traetment table? To say we held him back is b******t! We made him the player he is today and fergie bought the finished article so to say we held him back? Great result yesterday roll on WBA.

Agree10 Disagree1

You are not hardcore gunner, I am 100% sure, so stay in you page and don't come here to sa BS!

Agree2 Disagree0

If the goal against Sunderland doesn't count as his, he won't have scored in I think its 10 games now. wouldn't call that 'flourishing'

for 2.5 million we bought in an unknown player with a horrible disciplinary record back in his native Holland. and watched him for 7 years on the medical table, thinking when is it going to pay off. one good season and he's 'too good for us'? not at all. he thinks he is. he will not have another good season. 1 season as the prems best scorer.

he won't even come second this year with bale on the form he is (pains he to say it)

My Ideal Line up and tactics:Thoughts?

Fab
Sagna
BFG
Kos/TV5
Gibbs
Pod
Wilshere
Arteta
Ox
Caz CAM
Theo POACER

I would play Pod, Theo and the Ox due to the shere pace they have. Hardly any teams will be able to cope. They will have to defend deep and that invites pressure on them. They'll be left in thery're box for majority of the game. poss in our favour 'as normal'.

I reckon playing Caz as a player maker ideally in the line of three wing-cam-wing will create to much problems for teams. Triangles everywhere. #Confused defenders=Mistakes.

Arteta and Jack in the middle solid. Jack doing what he does best. Arteta setting back babysitting the back for (keeping tabs) making sure everythings goes will.

Back 4 just defend how you should do lol

Fab, do a fab job.

After seeing some posts now and again on here about Lukas Podolski, and his lack of game time, i've done a bit of research. and after seeing some videos analysing his performances earlier in the season, I honestly believe that we've missed a trick with this lad. His prloific goalscoring record speaks for itself really, and. I truly believe he could have seriously caused damage to premier league defences this season if given the chance. He is by far the best striker at theclub and one of three world class players still at the club, the others being Jac and Santi. Considering this I really do hope its an injury that's ruling him out and nothing behind the scenes, and if he gets this apparent op on his ankle and everything works out i'm almost certain he'll be a huge success next season. But, if we sell him ithink people will realise how big his contribution is to the club. seriously people I just can't believe we've actually got Poldi, he's the only one that actually gave me that sort of feeling when a top notch player signs and yet he sits on the bench.

Here's to the future, and hopefully one filled with joy and glory with a certain german involved. no not Mertesacker!

What's up with Poldi and Wenger. Seriously starting to think that there's something happened behind the scenes {Ed027's Note -Podolski is rumoured to have an injury, he will have a op in the summer, this makes sense as he was subbed off in 99% of the games he played in

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Agree with Ed on this one

Agree4 Disagree0

Its what I've heard too, personally think he is our best player (apart from Captain Jack) so a fully fit Podolski could be amazing

Good result against a poor side but still get 3 points don't matter who we beat. Gervinho was also good perhaps could have scored more.

Oh Rocky, Rocky, Rocky, Rocky, Rocky, Rocky, Rocastle!

Trust me, he might of scored and got two assists. But he don't even look like a footballer. Everyone round me was cheering when he got taken off.
Podolski should be in the team.

Hello everyone, I'm an Arsenal fan from India. I have been reading posts on this site for quite a few years now. Things have changed a lot. Every passing season the hopefuls and believers have turned to whining, grieving frustrated fans calling the heads of AW and the players. I know it is frustrating and I'm not blaming you.
The other day I was watching a documentary on TH14 and OH! how I miss the old days. That aside, someone said something like "If everyone say you can't do it, you start to believe that you can't do it. " I really think we should back the team so that they would play for us. Anyway that's my take, so you might not agree with me .
And can anyone tell me where are raz, miss arsenal, 1307 or something are? I enjoyed their posts. Also, ed, can you please shed some light about the situation with ed2? what happened? Sorry for the long post and bad english.
COYG!

Good sign off name {Ed027's Note - Cannon Balls, Ed002 received abuse on this page, for stupid reasons, he dose'nt want to edit the page anymore becasue of the abuse. I stand by Ed002, and really hope the people who gave the abuse take a long hard look at themselves

Does anyone know the line up today {Ed027's Note - Fabianski, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Ramsey, Arteta, Cazorla, Rosicky, Gervinho, Giroud.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hmm wheres Poldi, thought he was fit.

Let's see Gervinho, this start could determine your future.

Agree5 Disagree0

Was just looking at this myself, strange line up. What Sagna has on Wenger is beyond me and poor old pod has been waiting for hiss chance up front and yet again ignored.

Come on 3 points today no messing!

1404

Agree1 Disagree1

Wenger really wants him to sign a new contract and it ain't going to help with sagna on the bench. I would definitely started jenks though 1 of our best players this season

We should sign Fernando from FCP and Leandro Damiao thoughts anyone or even one of the bender brothers

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Fernando is a dirty **** but I love it. I'd take him. Damiao I haven't seen enough so can't. Prolific in Brazil, but that doesn't really mean much. Fernando is a good shout.

AW has today said some players are playing for the places in his squad and the next 9 games will impact on his transfer thoughts!

quick point, if we go on to finish 4th, or higher, will we get the old chestnut that the squad is strong enough and we don't need big changes in the transfer window?

bloody hope not!

Who do we think are best left back is? And who should replace sagna?

SM1996

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Monreal is our best lb and Jenkinson is a capable replacement. I'd rather promote Bellerin as back-up and use our funds elsewhere

30 Mar 2013 11:24:35
On way to the game. anyone know the line up? i'm hoping for some of the next gen kids on the bench seeing as we got a few injuries

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I'm really interested to see what our back line looks like I pray for the same as the 2 previous games but I very highly doubt it will be.

Agree1 Disagree1

I doubt any of the next gen players will be in the squad. They played in Italy yesterday and have a third placed playoff on Monday. Hope you enjoy the game though!

Is Gonalons tough enough for the premier league? How much would transfer value? Arteta would be amazing if freed up to go forward.

Cheers

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Seen a good bit of Gonalons this year, looks like a promising player.

Not sure yet if i'd have himover Wanyama tho.

We need a beast of a holding disorder who can play a simple passing game and a proven goalscorer 15-18 goals minimum

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Giroud could still end up with your 15-18 figure. Would you still think we need one then, or would you prefer someone better anyway?

Lwi

30 Mar 2013 07:45:24
We need a plan B. Andy Carroll would be perfect. He is a solid young player who will score 100 premier league goals for the team who finally decide to play him week in week out. A good manager who will put trust in him and make chances for him will reap the benefits for sure. Look at all the games crouch has won for his teams over the years. Carroll would do that for us.

Believable2 Unbelievable20

Plan B? We don't even have a plan A

We need to sign a proven goalscorer at the minimum 18 goals a season and a strong holding midfield player

Believable2 Unbelievable1

30 Mar 2013 00:58:20
this is a direct reply to steve knows best, he's on 12 with 9 to go even though he isn't as good as falcao he's easily one of the best that we could get. would appreciate a reply

bergkamp5353

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Like I said.

He's never scored more than 15 in a season. Offers no more than Giroud, despite his age.

Not what we need right now.

We lack a prolific goalscorer, it is that simple. Jovetic is not prolific. He is a NAME player being linked so everyone assumes he is the best thing since sliced bread. It's hilarious.

Jovetic would be good in a 4-4-2 with the likes of Suarez but we don't play that way.

I think Giroud and Podolski are both better strikers.

Agree9 Disagree1

Every time I've seen jovetic I've been impressed. he reminds me of the great DB10, he was never prolific but he won games for us with his vision, passing, finnesse and reading of the game.

and Serie A has always been a low-scoring league where even the greatest players rarely get above 20 goals in a season. apart from Cavani and El Sharaaway, neither of whom we are going to get (and are closer to being out-and-out strikers rather than no. 10s), he's there/thereabouts with everyone else.

Agree2 Disagree2

29 Mar 2013 16:28:49
Hey ed's first post on here,
Whats the latest with jovetic, valdes, cavanda, and i'm hearing isco now aswell, as I said first post so would appreciate a reply very much,
love the site {Ed027's Note - We have a interest in Jovetic, we've sent scouts etc for years, we've stepped it up recently. There's nothing on Valdes, Cavanda is seen as a Sagna replacement along with Rangel, reason Rangel is being considered is because we have Bellerin coming through. Isco is out of our reach.

Now with diaby finished maybe groom the ox for the box to box midfield role. A much better player than ramsey and has shown a lot more potential. Jack and the ox is a dream combination and can dominate the premier leauge for years to come.

All Arsenal strikers play left wing and right wing!. apart from giroud!. so the ox is guna be better than walcott on the right next season. walcott 1 game plays well next 5 might aswell not be there frustrating player on 100000 grand a week and most fans neally cried when they fort he was going christ nos why, u go to the emirates every week your see how below par walcott is
