If lichenstiener signs I would be happy with that always rated him! Has he got a good year or two in him? I think so. If reports on pastapacket are also true you would have to say bringing some experienced players into our current shower of Shizle can only be a good thing. For me the best signing arsenal could make is xavi Martinez . Probably never going to happen but would be perfect. Is xavi Martinez just a random name as far as Arsenal concerned ed?

Anyone who is still capable of giving us a good season and helping us change our mentality defensively and bring back some displine and organisation has to be a brilliant signing and we will hopefully still be reaping the benefits years after he hangs up his boots.
Now is a stepping stone to a better more competitive future and by the looks of it this time we are going for an immediate fix apposed to youngsters full of potential that never quite happens.
I'm all in favour giving something different a try and what have we got to lose?

I think a few old experienced heads is a very wise move. I also think a few exciting signings will come. We will start the season in better shape I’m sure.

We might build a defence made by string and chewing gum next season but it will be a huge improvement on the seive we've been used to .
I agree Sanogo mate our signings will be a mishmash of free's, bargains and pulse raisers but the competition is not about how much you can spend it's all about how many points you get and as we've learned over the last few seasons £s don't always equal points.

I think his experience would be great to the team and his a winner, which bellerin can learn a thing or two from him. Also the greek CB dude sound promising as he also come with a bag of experience which I think its the right thing to do.
Hopefully we add that steal in the middle and we have a season to look forward too, maybe not winning the title but at least we will be fighting yp there or won’t be far behind.

I'm really hopeful we land sokratis aside from his own ability I'm hoping he could be a great influence on mavroponus.

80 points and absolutely no thrashings would be a fantastic season whether we finished 1st or 5th in my opinion.
2007/ 08 was the last time we broke the 80 point mark and we finished 3rd so I'd see that as huge progress next season.

Lichtsteiner Sokratis Mustafi Monreal
Bellerin Holding Mavrapanos Kolasinac
2 decent back fours. Possibly replace Mustafi with the young Turkish CB Soyuncu, although Mustafi may imrove under a properly laid out and drilled back four.
Sell Jenkinson and Chambers. Koscielny's time at the club is coming to an end, as he is out until at least December. He will enter his 34th year in September and his pace has clearly been compromised by his chronic achilles problems.
Keeper-wise, sell Ospina, keep Cech for the final year of his deal and sign a tall, top keeper.
Sign at least one DM.

Hopefully our young Greek CB will turn out to be the real deal but we mustn't expect too much too soon from him, Chambers and Holding were both touted as the real deal by many after a few games then suddenly nobody thought they were good enough.
The lad looks promising as do Niles and Nelson but I don't think any are ready for for regular premier league football and certainly not top 4 chasing football.
I doubt any of the 3 would be considered good enough yet for Liverpool Spurs Chelsea Utd match day 18 unless injury made it a necessary.

With regards you post about next year's line up Glen.
It has just dawned on me that we may be buying up players with longer surnames to help recoup the money spent on transfers. Imagine the price of most of those shirts with names on. Messers Ozil and Ramsey had better watch out I feel. Your names are just too short.

It was his insistence on having Ox on his shirt that got AOC shown the door. True story.

Morning Chaps!

Looking at this realistically, what line up would we all like to see next season? For me:

Leno
Bellerin, Mavropanos, Sokratis, Kolasinac
Ramsey, Pellegrini,
Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Aubameyang
Lacazette

Personally i'm still not convinced by that squad either but its a realistic possibility.
Aubameyang shouldn't be played on the wing in my opinion but I can't see us playing 2 up top. It's not Emery's style.
I would also rather see a quality defensive midfield player to really strengthen the squad rather than more attacking players. Pellegrini and Seri are good players going forward but not so much on the defensive side of the game. Not something we need tbh! Interested to see what you other boys think?

Rather have a different rb than belrin.

Bellerin hasn't been coached properly in my opinion. Under Emery I reckon we could see him shine. Rapidly fast, youthful prospect we should certainly keep hold off.

Bit concerned about pushing Pea out on the left to accommodate Lacasette if truthful, personally if I wanted to play both I'd play them down the middle with Mesut or Ramsey in the whole behind them.
I think one of Arsenes biggest problems was trying to fit the big names into positions the players weren't best suited to in order to get best 11 names on the pitch at the same time rather than pick a balanced team.
Ramsey wide right never worked for us but Arsene wanted to find room for him as well as Caz Le Coq and Ozil in his favoured 11.
I think this is a problem that comes from having too many attacking players who are head and shoulders better than others in different positions, the temptation is always there.

Interesting times ahead. Players can look very different under a manager that sets the teams up differently, particularly in our case where the defensive side of the game can be considerably improved. Last season Everton and Crystal Palace were diffferent teams defensively after a change of manager.
With experienced players such as Lichtsteiner and the Greek Dortmund player possibly coming in, as well as a DM, things may change quickly. Bellerin can learn from Lichtsteiner. Holding and Mavropanos will benefit from the experienced Greek defender.
The options may be:
RB: Bellerin and Lichsteiner.
LB: Kolasinac and Monreal.
CB: Mustafi, Greek player, Holding and Mavrapanos.

Sell: Jenkinson and Chambers. I would retain Mustafi, to see how his form is playing alongside an experienced defender and in a team set out better from a defensive point of view.

Leno
Bellerin Sokratis. Mustafi sessagon

Ramsey. Rabiot

Ozil

Dembele. Draxler
Aubameyang

I think sokratis is done and mustafi will. Stay can't see us buying 2 new cb that will start together Leno seems a decent choice at a decent price. 22mil I think we should get sessagon he's young fast and will help with homegrown quota rabiot has been linked with us now with fabinho joining Liverpool can't see who else we can sign for. the cm/ cdm position seri has also. Been linked but he's been linked with Barcelona and Chelsea in the past then we come to. Dembele we can only sign him on. Loan and would be a decent signing and I've gone for Draxler as a wildcard unai seems to like. Him. A lot very versatile.

I'm not a fan of Auba playing out there either but saying that, he has played there in the past and is still a goal poacher despite playing on the left. Sessegnon would be excellent but he's destined for a big money move and that's not something for us to really offer. Plus being only 18 another high flying season in the championship will twitch the eyebrows of Madrid and City no doubt.
Rabiot is an interesting name that I'm surprised i missed out! A young player who was able to blossom under Emery and would be a great addition to the squad! Antoher being Maitland-Niles. He will be a star for us this season if given the chance and i can't see that not happening!
As for Dembele and a loan. Loans are poor in my eyes unless your a lower league team. That and the fact that he's fast but can't pass or shoot! Haha.

{Ed001's Note - Sessegnon will be playing in the Prem next season mate, Fulham got promoted.}

At the moment the names Xhaka Iwobi and Mustafi all leave me deflated at merely the thought of them being in the starting 11 but hopefully that might change under Emery and I might have a change of opinion about those 3 in particular but others too who I always feel we start a game on the back foot each time they play.
I wouldn't mind Jack Mustafi Xhaka Iwobi Welbeck all leaving but equally i'm willing to them changing my mind about them under a different manager too if Emery decides to keep any or all of them.

30 May 2018 17:39:33
So you wouldn't take Dembele on loan certainly an upgrade on Welbeck and Iwobi wvwb though he's not the finishes artocleny.
