Raver, you must be happy to have someone who loves Arsenal as much as you secretly do

When I was young, Arsenal was my favourite club. my idol was Patrick Vieira, ' Sissoko said in 2014 in an interview with L'Equipe.
'I've always loved this club, I still love them"
"I cannot remember the last time Spurs won the league, I don't know anyone old enough. "

😀.

You sound jealous Sy as we spent 45 million on two French internationals to make spurs even stronger while you buy some bloke called Perez lol. My idol was the greatest English midfielder ever called Glenn Hoddle who was on a different planet to any Arsenal midfielder and add gazza to that list. Sissoko should have said I have never seen Arsenal lift a European trophy lol.

it when I was young, Arsenal is the club of my heart, because there were quite a few French players there like Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sylvain Wiltord, Patrick Vieira who was my idol.

"The beautiful Arsenal. We will see. I cannot tell you if I am going to go to Arsenal. For the moment, I am focused on the French national team and the Euros. "

Sissoko.

I think its our loss and their gain, although they have paid 20 mil too much. On his day a beast but a bit like adebayor the talent is there when he wants it to be. He was available before the euros for 12 mil. A risk, for that money, let's hope he's the success adebayor was.

thing is tho Steve anyone can have their day. he was pony for Newcastle last year, and the way he has sulked and talked about going to other clubs while still at Newcastle makes me happy we did not seemingly attempt to get him. Plus i do not know where he would play or get in our team.

A bit of a mixed transfer window, but also the craziest I have seen. It will be intersting to see how Stoke develop, because they have quite a solid first 11 now. Also Spurs have a strong midfield as well as leicester signing a prolific striker (albeit the Portugese division) .

I am dissapointed to see Jack go on loan and not challenge for a place. Although it will be nice not having to worry about every tackle that flies in against him.

Our back line and midfield looks a little bit weaker on the wings but stronger in the centre. Personally I preferred Gnabry over Walcott when he stepped in a couple of seasons back, also Campbell looked good when he played.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

31 Aug 2016 23:53:23
Agreed but we have Rambo for right wing ( parlour / Freddie role ) , Iwobi plus Perez as well as Ox and Theo to play on right hand side

Couldn't see Jack fitting in this season

Wasn't the biggest Joel fan to be honest but a good run on loan could do him good

Really like Gnarby but how many wingers can we have before the youngsters get impatient

If we strengthen our side then we may need to accept this going forward.

Agree1 Disagree4

31 Aug 2016 22:21:23
Dissapointing window really don't see much squad improvement . I hope this is wengers last season. everyone says it will be hard to replace wenger but sometimes a great can stay too long . I remember brian cloughs last season at forest and they have never recovered. Sad to say it but wenger has just been left behind . we are too slow in transfers and don't offer the money for quality.

I would say mixed. Xhaka is classy midfield and gives us more options but you could argue not essential. Happy we got Mustafi we needed experience (Although it came at a high cost really leaving it late) and Holding looks good young find if one for the future more.

My main dissapointment is that we needed a upgrade on Giroud. A big physical central striker that was more consistent in front of goal really.

Perez is a strange one another nimble faster forward that will end playing in any of the three front positions but for not convinced he will really make much impact and be a regular starter let's hope I am wrong but seems a rush backup impulse buy to me.

We still are relying on Giroud too much for me.

It's a shame we can't all get along a have a pleasant little community. Just don't understand why they allow a minority ruin it for everyone and don't just block these idiots.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and how do you suggest we block all the idiots in a way that stops just them? IP addresses change, email addresses change, there is no way of just blocking the idiots or we would do. I wish people wouldn't keep trying to make out it is our fault because a few morons spoil it and tell us how we should do something different when they haven't a clue what we do to stop them.}

01 Sep 2016 08:17:19
I honestly don't understand why people give the abuse at all, this is a info site and banter for fans to come and share, moan, and give their opinions, and also get some great inside info from the eds.
if people just want to give abuse then go to another site.
I enjoy the banter and also listening to people with different opinions and views to mine and i can be a bit to optimistic so i like to see and debate the other side if that makes sense, but really struggle to understand why anyone would then go and give the eds ( or anyone else) abuse for the views or the information that they have to us?
Crazy, but hopefully ( obviously o don't get to read all of it) the eds don't let it piss them off to much and continue to do the great job they and 98% of the people on this site believe they do.

There is no excuse for Arsene here IMO. normally you are trying to sign new contracts with players couple of years before. for about 3-4years we are hearing that Gnabry is great prospect. why is he going? or we doing ManU and we will sign him back in 4 years for 100million? ☺☺☺.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed041's Note - arsene spend a 100m on a player? Now that would be amazing.

31 Aug 2016 21:55:05
I think the unexpected speedy emergence of Alex Iwobi put him back in the pecking order and Wenger was happy not to block his development. It's a shame as it looks he is ready to start shining now after the confidence gained in the Olympics but you can't really expect to keep them all. He wanted more 1st team game time and Wenger could not guarantee that can't really blame him.

He was not prepared to sign up for longer so at least we have got a few million for him.

Agree4 Disagree1

31 Aug 2016 17:58:43
Pretty happy that wilshere has gone out on loan, was extremely unlikely to get any game time here. Maybe with a different physio team and training regime he might enjoy an injury free period. Time will tell.

Only thing I can say on that is that maybe a slight lack of ambition not going to Italy and he would probably improve more out there with a different experience. I hear it was more to do with external factors however, money, family etc and so the decision was basically made for him. Either way happy he's got a chance to get some consistent game time under his belt. Mainly for England's sake, lacking anyone particularly special in the middle of the park atm.

And in general pretty happy with the window. And even if you're not, just time to get behind the boys now. Nothing else we can do.

Also lol David Luiz.

COYG.

Strange one with wilshire, two years on his contract, if he breaks down and doesn't play, its a no brainer, if he stars and we get injuries, we are stuck, don't know if he could have gone on a three month loan with a clause for longer but i don't think there isca right or wrong, the same with gnabry, he had one year left so again 5mil and move o for both might be the correct thing, did we put a buy back in the deal, i don't know.

Agree2 Disagree3

31 Aug 2016 19:49:30
Don't know how many games he would of got in Italy - but should get plenty at Bournemouth - good luck to him!

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 22:14:57
Mixed Feelings about Wilshire he needs game time for sure but you know if he performs well for the Cherries there will be whole host of clubs wanted to sign him up permanent.

Although his injury record is terrible if he did leave permanently next season it will be shame as he is Arsenal through and through at heart one of our own if you like. In pragmatic terms though we have plenty of talent in the midfield area so if he did leave it would not really leave us with a massive hole to fill.

On the flip side if gets long term injured on loan then you have to fear where his career is going. It really is make a break for him this season.

David luiz is woeful, no big loss there.
Who else? Ibra, matuidi?

Dortmund lost key players but have done extremely well in replacing them.

I'd probably say Valencia have been hurt the most.

Mustafi, alcacer, Gomes, feghouli and a couple others all big players for them.

I think Conte might see him as a sweeper in a back 3, one who pushes into the MF when going forward and covers Cahill and Terry when defending, I think he could really shine in that role.

It will be interesting to see if Wilshere actually passes a medical!
On a separate subject, Vieira is moaning about Wenger and the fact he hasn't welcomed Arsenal greats into the club as coaches. Surely he realises that Wenger controls the club from top to bottom and only employs weaker characters that don't pose a threat to him.

Imagine if Vieira, Adams, Bergkamp or Henry were at the club and we were in a bad run, fans would call for Wenger's heads knowing one of these 'greats' could step in. Whereas the likes of Bould or Rice, were never threats to his position. In any event, so far none of the 'greats', have been hugely successful and Adams has been a disaster as a manager and coach.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

31 Aug 2016 15:41:41
Pat Rice was 'a great' for Arsenal. Steve Bould also won 3 league titles, two fa cups and a UEFA cup. Loads of former Arsenal players work for us, Viera and Henry would be if they were willing to commit all of their time. Bergkamp had a fall out with Wenger towards the end of his career.

Agree3 Disagree2

31 Aug 2016 19:10:29
Wenger doesn't want people with strong opinions, he only wants people who tow his line. Adams, vierra, henry are too strong minded and would want a bigger input. Bouldy is like a lap dog and most of the time just sits on the touch line with a face like a slapped arse.

I like big Sam's refusal to pick players who can't get into their club sides, hope he keeps to that approach as it will be good for both England and the English players themselves.
It leaves, players like Theo with 3 chioces
1 forget about representing your country and keep counting the doeh.
2 move to a smaller club to get the game time needed
3 work harder than ever to become an Arsenal regular.
It might also stop promising young players moving to bigger clubs to soon and disappearing into the squad rather than learning their profession on the pitch.
I hope Sam keeps to this approach as I think it's a really positive step everyone one but the big clubs who like to hoard English players to boost their quota with little intention of using many of them.

Hey Ed's, I hope you are well.

Do you see anything crazy happening tomorrow? Am I being silly asking if Arsene is eyeing a deadline day move? Is Drexler possible?

I thought for a second that Wilshere going on loan meant another body might come in, what do you think?

Cheers,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not really mate, I don't expect much in the way of movement at Arsenal other than a couple of outs.}

30 Aug 2016 23:57:16
I'm disappointed to hear that Bayern Munich hope to sign Gnabry. He has just had an excellent Olympics and he has the talent to reach the very top. I understand why we are allowing Wilshere and Chambers to go on loan, but I wouldn't allow them to go to a PL club and would insist they go abroad or in Chambesr case, possibly to a Championship team.

Imagine if they sign for a club in the PL that ultimately finishes above us, say Wilshere to West Ham or Everton. Wilshere unfortunately has so much competition for the sole central attacking midfield role, currently occupied by Ozil. Cazorla also looks best in this role, as well as Ramsey. We now have 3 DM players and wide, we have Walcott, Ox, Iwobi, Sanchez, Perez and Reinne-Adelaide, so allowing Wilshere to go on loan elsewhere makes sense. However, very few established players leave on loan and return, so it looks like goodbye for Wilshere.

The reports are still somewhat confusing with his dad confirming he's signed for Bremen. Wenger was hoping he'd sign another contract before he went out on loan.

I think Jack going to another EPL club would be good, especially if he helps take points off our rivals.
