WAT A DISASTER! Gutted we didn't get a striker in.

Some of you guys should really know Wenger by now. will you ever learn

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to say the summer window convinced me he was a leopard that had changed his spots

i've now woke up from cloud cuckoo land and find we're back in the bargain basement with a new record contract for the boss and a new record shirt sponsorship starting summer time

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 23:01:55
Unless there's any secret transfers I would personally say tonight is a bit if a let down, should of pushed for a striker and can only hope we spend big to get Draxler and a quality proven striker in the summer coyg

Im not going to be very popular. But let's be real here. Are we all pissed off? because I am. Is Wenger and the board seeing something we have all missed.? Has the top 4 and the revenue become the prize at the end of the season? I think it has. From my point of view if we can't find a player/players with all our injury problems then we are never going to be genuine title contenders in anything we go for. It looks like we are just going through the emotions to appease the fans.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Golds,

I have never known you to be on such a downer, cheer up mate, keep the faith and keep ya fingers crossed for the rest of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was considering a bet on arsenal too win on sunday but I think its too obvious at 4/5 but I think sunday is now a massive banana skin fingers crossed we do it comfortably, i'll remove the pressure of my bet now and back crystal pulice to score :)

31 Jan 2014 20:39:29
Will we get a striker ed or do you think that's it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 22:12:41
Come on wenger, it's the best opportunity we've had in years to win something, get a striker you got 50 minutes left. God forbid something happens to giroud we've only got nb52. We have a Rolls Royce midfield supplying a Ford Focus attack.
Kallstrom I don't know much about but from reports is decent.
Wenger don't go Scrooge on us now when we are so close to competing with Chelsea and City. Give the club a lift and surprise us with a decent striker.

Ps can't believe we let berbatov go to Monaco without enquiring

I'm disappointed in lack of transfer activity this window, with the proper reinforcements we could really push for the title. Yes Kallstrom isn't world class but I'm sure he is capable enough to help, however Wenger hasn't addressed the issues at hand. How on earth does Wenger think he is going to rotate the squad this February. ? Does he truly think he can play Giroud, Mert and Kos every single game?who is going to play on the wings? I still don't think we have the depth to do this.
Sorry for the negativity gents.

Hi Eds,

Are you all enjoying transfer deadline day? lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am on my 45th mug of coffee and beginning to hallucinate. I even thought I saw Arsenal sign a top class striker at one point, before I realised it was just my daughter playing FIFA.}

Sorry to be smug but I have been saying all month Wenger will not BUY anyone and he wont, as I said he will not buy a striker until Bendtner has gone.

Being realistic, I feel the title challenge we had is now slipping away, we needed everyone fit to challenge in the last 3 months

Going from drax to Kim is like having rump then a McDonald's shocking as for a striker get dagenham gunner to sign

Why Dagenham.?. Just because he likes a kiss after scoring a goal. LOL

Where have all the haters come from out of the blue?
Your all saying the same thing; 'how can wenger let such a good half to the season be blown away by not signing anyone big'
My first reply to that is simply WTF!
Why are people forgetting we have been solid in the league since last febuary!
Secondly: We have coped with injuries through out the season so far so why can it not continue?
First 3/4 months we were without podolski, Walcott, chambo, and cazorla for few months. Add to that, they were all injured at the same time.
It's obvious the market is dead right otherwise surely Manu, Chelsea and city would be looking to sign someone. But no one of quality is available unless you pay double their value which isn't worth the gamble.
And finally this team is better then everyone claims them to be, defensively we are solid, mentally strong, with a lot of heart.
After every blip we come back stronger. I think these last few games has been a blip, but unlike other seasons due to the quality of the team this blip has been full of narrow wins as opposed to narrow losses.
I'm very confident this team will soon kick on and start to play quality football and tear teams apart, starting with crystal palace.
P.s. Before you criticize the season, atleast let the season unfold first.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Need to push on mate, end of the day we have 6 weeks from hell coming and I can't see us getting the results without some backup to cover for injuries not has beens but proper cover

Waq1,

I haven't always seen eye to eye with your post's, but that is the best post of the year, from anybody, so far.

Kim Kallstrom is a top class European player with a huge experience in top level football for the last ten years, just watch and learn. Arsene's done it again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can I have some of what your smoking please, hardly a queue to sign him and well spartak were desperate to keep him not

Agree0 Disagree0

Random thoughts:

Kallstrom is a Silvestre signing, last resort I hope

I like internal solutions

Do we need signings, yes

However, if this group, who has overachieved, can go on and win a trophy, against the odds, our backbone from next season on will be immense

The group's confidence will grow exponentially.

So w the talent we have, and their versatility, let's get it done!

I can't wait for Bayern. Listen to mad Jens lads, play angry and get in their heads. They were she'll shocked second leg last year. Do it right away leg 1, early on.

Fans will be into it, we can rock their world.

Time to unleash Poldi! He's ready. Get him ready for his old club. He knows how to beat them.

Have a feeling Rambo will be ready for Bayern. Wenger wants to beat Bayern badly. No way we aren't prepped w Jack and Rambo.

Poldi and Gnabry or Rosicky ensure proper wing defending against Bayern. Left has been a problem this year because Poldi doesn't play. Last year we criticized how he defended too much.

Giroud
Poldi Ozil Rosicky
Jack Rambo

Is my hope for Bayern. As good as Santi is, he's a liability defending. Ozil will dominate them. He's better than any of them and they know it. With him or against him, he's the alpha and BFG is their boss at the back.

This year is going to be very different folks

Must win leg 1. Absolute must

Arsene where is the big signing we need to push on, how can you let this amazing start to the season fall away to nothing, our squad is woefully short going into the second half, and you do this. great, just what the boys need a no one from Sweden

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 20:48:00
Gents,

Don't under-estimate Kim Kallstrom. Yes, we desperately need a back up to Giroud but with Walcott and Ramsey out and Flamflam missing for 3 games we are a little light in midfield.

KK is a very experienced midfielder, has a decent left foot and very good at free kicks/set pieces.
He has over 100 caps for Sweden and has played, and scored, in Champs League and in the world cup.

We have a lot of hard games coming up and a growing injury list, this guy could be pivotal to what we achieve this season.

He is also available for champs league games, this guy is a decent player and is more than welcome at the Emirates.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dg, well said

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll wait and see my only question dagenham is how has he lost both his place in the sweden team and his place in the spartak team?

does bode well if your honest, i'll happily eat my words and want nothing more than him to succeed but sorry i'm looking for the positive and I don't see it

Agree0 Disagree0

Gooner74,

I honestly don't know mate but I try to look on the positive side.

The guy has won 2 Swedish championships, 1 Swedish cup, 2 French championships, 2 French cups, has a champs league semi final under his belt, 56 champs league appearances and over 100 caps.

In my opinion, that makes him more experienced than anything we currently have at arsenal, possibly along with Ozil and Podolski.

Im not saying he's the answer to all of our problems, but he's a decent player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - am I the only one who was reading that list to the tune of 'The Twelve Days Of Christmas' and ended it singing "five gold rings"?}

And a partridge in a peartree
lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham I hope you are right and i'm wrong but well he's not got a place any longer for sweden or spartak

we're not talken bayern or barca or real we're talking spartak

i have more andrea santos than mesut ozil expectations

i pray you are right, and i'm forced to eat my words

Agree0 Disagree0

Gooner74,

I hear what you are saying mate, and you put across some good points but its never that simple.

Is Podolski a regular at Arsenal? No. Most people, certainly outside of London, would say he is a fringe player. Does that mean he is not very good?

Swansea bought Michu for £2m, does that mean he's not very good because of his pricetag?

John tery is not in England's world cup squad, for whatever reason. Does that mean he's a poor defender? Of course not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham I pray you are right buddy for the sake of my beloved arsenal, but i'm going to set my expectations low and then I can get a good few meals from eating my words :)

I don't remember to many people jumping for joy at us resigning Flamini in the summer, there was a lot of? and Arsene bashing going on if I remember properly but many people now feel he's been one of our best signings for years and a big part of us being contenders again.

Kallstrom was not on my or anyone else's radar but maybe he will prove as big a success as Flamini and we will look back in May and think Arsene got it RIGHT AGAIN.
Let's see what happens

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on there mate, it's the lack of a striker that's bothering me.
We knew at the start of the window we needed a striker, and the best we came up with was Kalou and Klose.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop being so damned reasonable.

Hysterical Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll give him a shot but arsene is shooting himself in the foot, he's had 31 days to get a striker signed and sealed and where are we another f**king midfielder that won't even make the bench when the others are fit

i hope he works out and proves me wrong, least flamini was trialled and we knew what we were getting, I think the scary part is the fact no one knows this guy he's out of sweden team and out of spartak team so I find it hard to see it as a positive

as for the lack of striker 48 mins to go he's signed his own death warrant on this one, and its nothing but incompetence if giroud gets injured sunday please tell me what you think will happen its going to be a blood bath fans will want to lynch him

and there is no defending it we are totally shy upfront, I hear everyone say play poldolski which I wish he would be his natural position isn't centre forward

i think wenger is taking a massive gamble and I find it unbelievable

maybe i'll go get a beer

sorry for the negativity but i'm just trying to spell out what I think a few are thinking (only have to look at twitter)

and I don't want the booing back nothing worse than waking up dreading what's going to happen in the match and after like it was at the very start of this season

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree I'm disappointed by our lack of striker activity 1404 but not surprised, Arsene as always is doing what he thinks is right for us, not what I would do but!
Chill Jay Jay I felt like you in the summer and look where we are now, let's stick together and see where it takes us

Agree0 Disagree0

I was only joking (a bit).

Calm Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Jay Jay I was a bit on the slow side there mate

World class signing NAAAAAAAAAAT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jelfy,

You are the same person who posted "that's our title chances gone for another 10 years" because we drew 2-2 away to Southampton.

Kallstrom may not be world class but he's still a decent player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said dg

Agree0 Disagree0

So if I said to u we signing Kim would u have said he's class no u wouldn't bcos u like me have never heared of him and if u say u have your a liar shocking we will struggle to keep up with city and Chelsea now I see us getting 4th maybe 3rd if we are lucky

Agree0 Disagree0

Man City have been all guns blazing since the first game of the season. They are incredible, free scoring, have 22 world class players, have the best team on the planet, score goals with their eyes shut, have the greatest manager the world has ever seen, have the best defence in the world, the best midfielders in the world, the best attackers in the world, god damn it, they even sell the best hot-dogs and peanuts on the planet.

But, guess what? We are only 1 point behind them and we have to play them at the Emirates, so just for once, support your bloody team and try posting something positive for once, you might just like it mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we are within 10 points at the end I'll eat my own s@@t

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham I agree but let me ask you this Giroud gets injured are we really going to rely on NB52? this is my worry

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll said goner 74 we need someone any one I don't think wenger knows when the window opena

Agree0 Disagree0

Gooner74, I totally agree, we need a striker who is as good if not better than Giroud.

Wenger has not bought a striker in 3 windows (not counting Sanogo) and I don't know why.

Mate, I don't know the answer, if Walcott was available I would feel a lot happier than I do at the moment. At a push, Theo could play upfront but he's injured. Maybe Podolski, who know's mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham its my point its like he wants the dark days back from the start of the season, the booing get us no where but christ he don't help himself when he flips between three has beens but refuses if true to pay the draxler fee

Agree0 Disagree0

You need to watch more footy mate if you never heard of him big part of Lyons domination of the french league a few seasons ago and plenty of champions league experience not a bad signing!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 19:52:28
Watching 'Dead line day Live' Noticed the reporter
is doing broadcast from inside the Emirates, instead of outside with the fans. Maybe the board don't want any negative reaction at the end of the window, or maybe Sky don't want their reporter lynched!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

With us being so far off the title pace I can see why a lynching mob would be baying for blood tonight!
We'll be lucky if we finish in the top one if the season so far is anything to go by! Its a disgrace.
The manager and existing players have let us al down badly so far

Agree0 Disagree0

Dead right G62 - I see all the same old comments coming out as came out just before the start of the season - be a real downer if we carry this form on???
Can't believe some of these 'FANS'

Agree0 Disagree0

I maybe misconstrued as negative, i'm not I want KK to prove to be a success I just don't see him being one I mean if he's any cop why would he be contacted yesterday signed today?

cause spartak didn't want him, cause they have better

Agree0 Disagree0

If it wasn't for these FANS, Ozil would never have been signed,
Our old manager has now given up this season, he didn't need the stress
of competing with Citeh and Chavs. Every man and his dog knew we
needed a striker, but nothing. All Wenger has done this window, has
laid the ground work for Draxler joining Manchester United in the summer. Still
lets look forward to next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope to christ there is some agreement in place for first option but I doubt we are that sensible

i mean who would have accepted a buying him loaning back and going full pace for a temp striker?

i'm smoking an extra strong brand obviously

quote on he ain't the finished article

lets look back was can p*ssy or king tt the finished article?

i honestly think we missed a trick given our german contingent he'd settle quicker

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have taken Klose on loan and Draxler in the summer for sure!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 19:51:52
Anyone else get that Andre Santos feeling about this window? A few panic loans just to bring bodies in?

Granted, we signed Per and Arteta that day too but I can't see Kallstrom pulling up trees and keeping Rambo outta the side.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 19:47:32
this headline says it all

Southampton's £15m demand prices Arsenal out of late move for Morgan Schneiderlin

would he improve us? I think YES

15million for probably our weakest position surely wenger get it done you miserly old sod

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 19:44:38
Well, it looks as though Kim K is signing on loan to cover the midfield, play up front, be our fourth centre back and probably physio as well looking at the amount of players in the treatment room!

I actually feel a bit deflated following the linked names that have come and gone. Just like the summer window. The only thing that swung it in Wengers favour was splashing £42.5m on Ozil.

It appears that in order to appease the fans this time, Wenger has signed a footballer with the same name as a Kardashian.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more well said. Shame really after all the hard work of the players only for Wenger to throw it all away.

Agree0 Disagree0

All these players have been linked to the club by WHO??

Not the club or the manager!

Anyone else find it very very odd that we sell Frimpong considering all the injuries?

It is at times like this Arsenal fans get very frustrated

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's nowhere near the first team but he would be a worst case fall back. Wenger must, simply MUST have something to put us all at ease.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 19:07:50
Eds as you know I don't really enjoy the transfer season as it winds me up to see how Arsenal seem to go about things. But I would like to ask you this question. It seems to me that we have a big problem getting clubs to sell to us or even loan us a player.Behind closed doors could it be the rumour is that Arsenal are a nightmare to deal with and clubs and players give us a wide berth, or is there another reason that us meanials are not party to that you boys might know about.Seems to be the same story time and time again. Please don't quote Ozil as an example
as he is the exception rather than the rule. Thanks boys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Wenger is very careful with his money, to the point that players often feel unwanted by the way he haggles over what are minor amounts.}

Ed. it's not his money!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I know. One player personally told me that he ended up rejecting a move to Arsenal, when he was keen to make it happen, because the way Wenger quibbled made him think he wasn't bothered about whether he signed him or not. So he started to wonder if he was actually going to be first choice or sit on the bench. Because he was first choice where he was, he decided to turn the offer down.}

That is worrying information.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed, why do we put ourselves through this every 6myths!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - just be glad you don't follow Leeds or Rangers.}

Ed001. At last! thanks very much mate. Now it all makes sense. I knew there must be a reason for us getting the elbow time and time again and the example you pointed out sounds like the type of experience which would turn any club or player off of joining us once this becomes common knowledge which to me seems to have happened far to often over the seasons. It never made sense to me why we kept getting so many blanks. But as you pointed out we sound like bad news to deal with. If we were easy to deal with who wouldn't want to play for us.? that's it in a nutshell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just reading that Stan Kroenke is buying Southern California property and news sources are speculating that there is a possibility he may want to relocate his St. Louis Rams (NFL) back to Los Angeles. The Rams moved from L.A. to St. Louis in 1994. L.A. is the 2nd largest U.S. market and and a move would go a long way in determining whether SK was in it for the money only.

http://msn.foxsports.com/west/story/a-return-of-l-a-rams-owner-is-said-to-buy-possible-stadium-site-013014

If this were to happen, would he lose interest in AFC and his various other sport entities in Colorado? He owns the Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Rapids (MLS).

Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea how it would affect it sorry. Not sure he is all that interested anyway, being honest.}

31 Jan 2014 17:33:26
Here we go again, so is it just me lads and lasses?, Look at the effect Ozil had on the Arsenal team, confidence flowed, players expressed themselves, the team played like the Invincibles at times, a lovely sight to behold, we have had a few major injuries, Ramsey, TW and Jack Wheelchair, I think most sides would be effected, The Southampton game typified the fragility we have in the ranks and thin veneer of quality we have in certain positions, I personally feel this is exactly the right time to buy quality and experience, a real marquee signing, in his prime, instead, we get geriatrics are us.
If the rumours are to be believed. Kloise and Kallstrom, I've been at the Emirates when some, nobody comes on for the opposition the Arsenal faithful respond with whhhooo? Kloise. mmm ok, Kallstrom. whooo?
Is it true Eds?

can't help feeling a little disappointed at the outcome of today gutted on draxler but I guess if i'd listened to my head i'd have know a leopard never changes his spots

i've read on hear for a few years and most see where our weak areas are

1:- Striker - desperately needed we're so short up front its embarrassing and i'm talking central roles not wings etc

2:- defense - surely we could have gone in for zouma 12 million for an up and coming star, could have provided the cover and very much one for the future, we have cover in defense or should I say natural cover for all positions bar BFG, I know people will refer to me to sagna but well i'd prefer him attacking than defending he's a vital source of balls into the box even though we don't score many of the crossed goals

i'm speechless with the KIM K signing, I heard the name before and appears he's a computer game hero is wenger stuck in 2004?

it would explain a lot for me

4h:15 mins left wenger get us a signing we can believe will help us get this trophy, I fear for you after this transfer window if it goes pete tong in the next 4 weeks, I don't want to be coming to stadium where you are booed i've loved the atmosphere since the Ozil signed and I think you underestimate the impact he's had on the fans let alone the team, all i'm asking for is may 1 more ozil type signing to lead the line and maybe a big CDM and you'd have a team that i'll stick my neck out and say would win trophies

right now the frustration of being so close and you appearing not to see we're short of 1 or 2 final quality additions is infuriating

now 4hrs 11mins left please I beg you make something happen

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And you really expected Draxler to sign.oh come off it

Agree0 Disagree0

I too am a bit disappointed with the whole thing. Really thought Wenger would build on our fantastic start so we could actually kick on and win some bloody trophies!

Agree0 Disagree0

What a wasted opportunity.could have made a statement of intent but no, only a 31yr old Swede no one had heard off

Agree0 Disagree0

Banbury if you read I said I should have listened to my head, i'm in cloud cuckoo land with wenger now watching the players he wants to loan turn him down

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 18:47:34
The Swedish press are as shocked as we all are that we are going to sign Kallstrom even if it is just on loan. I want to give the guy a fair chance, but having seen him at Lyon, but my biggest concern is that he is so slow, and while he is good at set pieces, I just don't think he will offer much else. Would of loved us to go and add a striker and give a real signal of intent.

The more this Draxler saga drags on the more I feel it will be another Hazard, people talk us up signing him, but the longer the leave it the more the price goes up, and the more teams that get interested in him. Not only is this a world cup year, which could see his price rise, but we were put off by the price before his release clause even became active, how will the summer change anything? Where the price will be higher as will interest in him.

Thoroughly underwhelmed and disappointed with this window especially after announcing the Puma deal and the revenue that will generate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 18:42:48
Its the players I feel sorry for, the likes of Ramsey, Walcott, Wilshire, Cazorla that have worked damned hard to get us where we are in the league just to be thrown away because his lordship will not do what every fan out there knows needs to be done. If Giroud is injured, what then, no Walcott, no we have to rely on Bendtner this is what our manager has done to our club. Yes he signed Ozil in the summer but that was just feeling the pressure of the fans. Now he has signed a new contract he goes back to being Mr Scrooge. Well done Arsene you do us proud NOT.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 18:38:25
So on a scale of 1-10 how angry are you feeling about this window

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its the same as every other window. I have learnt now, to look only on the last 2-3 days of any transfer window to see if we buy or not. A lot of people waste a lot of time following it on a daily basis. We are inept at transfer business. People thought ozil was a turn of the tide, but I still think Wenger will penny pinch at any opportunity. Kallstrom does not represent title winning ambition. Not for me anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm about an 8 right now, but there is a few hours left and i'll be past 10 in anger if its only kim k signed

Agree0 Disagree0

Risen to a 9 now I can't believe what he thinks is good business guy is raving mad

Jesus how bad have we got Kalou has turned us down

Limerick Gunner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I ask you what are we doing looking in the bargain free bucket when we have pots of cash sat waiting, i'm questioning his thoughts on this and would love five mins in his head to figure out wtf he is thinking

Agree0 Disagree0

He didn't turn us down- Lille did.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm glad they did, but the real issue is we went for him in the first place. Our club is a f**kin joke.

From Jackson Martinez and Juilian Draxler to loan bids fork all storm and kalou.

Why do Arsenal insist on making themselves a laughing stock?

I would have been happy if we bought Draxler and loaned him straight back, there's no way we'll get him in the summer!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Draxler, Matuidi and Zouma as confirmed deals tied up for the summer would have actually been better than apparently about to sign Kim kallstrom on loan and not a lot else.

To be fair, two out of three can still happen but I wouldn't bank on it!

Two steps forward, three backwards.

hearing Madrid willing to let morata go on loan hopefully arsene makes it happen

Believable0 Unbelievable0

is this the best we can do? 31yr old swede, where is the squad building??. paperthin squad is now showing, so many out going into the toughest part of the season, 100mil to spend and he's going for a f*****g loan. he's lost the plot now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kallstrom isn't the next big player,

He is also a loan signing to get us trhough the next few hard game without flam and rambo

loan of an experianced DM? i'd say that's perfect wenger. if you are counting on the team you currently have to be champions off their own back

Agree0 Disagree0

Goonerink this is a player that has lost his place for sweden and lost his place against spartak moscow, I reckon wenger is living about a decade back in 2004

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not saying he's the best signing we could have made, but it makes more sense, wenger thinks our team from the end of the summer window are good enough to win titles, he won't buy for the sake of buying

Love poldolski's farewell message to Frimpong, what a Top Top man Poldolski is! If it came to it I would rather finish runners up with him than top with the likes Rooney any day.

Playing for Arsenal is about more than just being a good footballer, we are a class club and MEN like Poldolski are a perfect fit for us

Being an Arsenal fan on Deadline Day is the worst (barring that summer there). We always seem to go for the all the rubbish of the day and its always on bloody loan. We are a big club that go for mid-table to relegation battle type players on the last day.

Such a let down of a transfer window. Was going to be hard enough beating the City juggernaut with a few big name signings never mind with out any! I firmly believe we will now finish 3rd.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, but was the summer good? ozil was a panic buy wenger has proved this this window by not building on it, a real shame and a wasted oppertunity, feel we will be battling liverpool for forth and third when we could have been going for glory, wenger's only goal is c/l place. we need a manager with ambition now, have no idea who

Agree0 Disagree0

Klose will be great back up, not sure I have even heard of the Swedish guy!

Agree0 Disagree0

That summer was an absolute shocker but deadline day was good that is all. In the summer we need a centre back, right back, proper world class holding midfielder(no offence to Flamini), a winger and a world class striker. We got none. Ozil is a fantastic signing and had given us a lift but has merely covered over the cracks for a shambles of a summer window.

again
he~s a quality manager,, with tight funding.

Tight funding?

You are joking right?

The club can give him £8m a year,
Have just signed the biggest sponsership deal in prem history and we have over £100,000,000 in cash reserves.

Sorry it ain't the funding that's tight, it's something else.

Agree0 Disagree0

Point from the top but with all the tough games to come.I hope we are there in a few weeks,

Point from the top - so shouldn't we be pushing on rather than sitting?

Not the Wenger fan boys again.

Wake up

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on TG, Most teams would make way for Wenger if he was available.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tight funding? the only tight fund comes from wenger, ozil was a panic buy. proved by not building on it. one day wenger will be gone the team will survive and so will we

Agree0 Disagree0

Perfect season to spend some cash and get us a trophy, what does he do sits there pats himself on the back loans a has been and thinks it will be ok long as top 4 is achieved

if we finish potless again he has to go

Forget Kallstrom … the most important signing Wenger needs to make today is a certain Mr Gary Lewin. Since he left our injuries (length of time taken to recover) are seriously embarrassing. Ramsey now out for another 6 weeks. Ridiculous. What the hell are they doing in training?/medical room? Bring back Gary Lewin!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have said this to my mates many times also. disappointing really that Gary can't be utilised by both England & arsenal

The injury situation at Arsenal has gone on for too long. I believe there are a few reasons for the situation which need addressing. Alas, Wenger is way too stubborn to resolve the problems.

We don't need cover we need players who are an improvement.

It has to be made up BS from the press surely? We all know how they like to make fun of us and Wenger.

I'm not going to say anything or pass judgment until the actual deadline, time to pray.

Have your fireworks and tissue box at the ready, we might need to use either one tonight.

Stay strong guys,

What the f**k, Kallstrom, Klose, Kalou, has he gone mad, instead of Klose he could have gone for Berbatov, this is what happens when a man things that transfer window starts on the last day. I am always confused why Wenger has to wait till the last day of transfer window when he knows that he needs the players, today might turn out to be another trolly dash similar to 2011.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BH, I think Klose would be as good a signing as Berbatov. Klose has still been getting goals, scoring about once every 2-3 games in a pretty defensive league. He is a Germany legend, their top scorer, and I think he could do a job for us. Berbatov has a worse goalscoring record than him in the past couple of seasons, even if he is in a worse team. The worry with Berbatov is that he'd want to be the centre of the team and that just won't happen. He wouldn't even start many games.

I'm a bit frustrated too - I'd prefer we just tried to find a striker who can offer as much as Giroud. But Klose isn't a bad option, could be quite a shrewd move.

Otherwise I do agree - this reminds me a lot of 2011. Kallstrom - don't really know what to say, I guess Wenger wants another Rosicky-like player to support the squad. Not convinced at all though. Kalou is just a rumour at the moment, but again I have the same feelings: would seem like a bit of a bargain bucket signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kalou's been good this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kalou wasn't good enough for chelsea
kim isn't good enough for spartak
klose is getting on and would be a punt

Oh dear!
why do we always look like a drunk stumbling around trying to pick up a girl for the last dance at the disco.

All of the good work the team has done could possibly now be undone because we have left strengthening our team to last day as usual.

Draxler should have been done at the start of the of the window (injured or not) just pay the 37mil and move on. cause I bet after this years world cup he will be worth more and the other big teams will be after him.

we have some very big games comming up over the next 8 weeks. unless the current fit players, play out of their skin for those 8 weeks we will find it very hard.

But i'm keeping my fingers crossed for another Ozil moment.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 12:05:15
What was the point of going in for Draxler if we were not prepared to pay his escape clause. Wenger is irritating me with the drivel he is spouting. He is surprised we are short of players! i'm not, we were short from the start of the season and our injury and recovery from injury record is dire.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 12:01:32
with many many injuries to our squad, why is wenger not piling into the market to get a striker, dm and defender, does he not want to compete with the rest of the teams around us, a perfect oppertunity to win something and he is, once again, messing it up, we were in for draxler that's a fact to many journo's don't get it that wrong, we will, once again be battling for fourth place, how we landed ozil is a wonder, what a wasted chance!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great news Wenger to Chinese superstar 'Na far kin won' for 6 pence and wonka bar, but look on the brightside it still better than NB23

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 11:13:12
Typical Wenger, he signs a 31 year old Swede on loan. He hates spending money. I pray i'm wrong. We have needed a 4th centre back and a striker, since the start of the season. Perhaps its good that he hasn't signed an extension to his contract. We have a zillion midfield options and look what he does, signs a midfield player on loan. Imagine an injury to Giroud and one of the centre backs.
I am fed up of hearing Wengers drivel about the current window. It is the same for all clubs and being negative about it hardly helps. I believe we will once again win nothig and struggle to finish top four. didn't Wenger understand the lift signing Ozil gave the team?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I still think Ozil was a knee jerk reaction to fans reaction after the Villa game.
If Wenger is back to his old tricks not adding players when it is clearly needed then yet again we will win nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember buying Kallstrom on Champ Manager about 12 years ago and he was ace then lol. Maybe not so much now at 31.

Agree0 Disagree0

In the summer we will need a keeper, a centre back (possibly two if Vermaelen gets fed up not playing, a right back (assuming Sagna doesn't sign), a wide left player and a forward. This window was an opportunity to buy a centre back and a forward and what does Wenger do? Borrow a midfield player until the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aghhhhhhh, what is he doing, we need a striker and defender not a 31 yr no one has heard of, time to retire wenger enough is enough

Agree0 Disagree0

"We are open minded and active and will look at opportunities. We will try to bring one in. We are suddenly a bit short."

Says everything about Wenger and his archaic philosophy on transfers.

Man utd strengthen
Chelsea strengthen
It even looks like City will strengthen as if that was possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger may be overly cautious, but it is no worse than the other extreme. Man U and Chelsea have thrown money at players this season but that hasn't improved them, we are still doing better. Sometimes you have to pull the finger out but I think Wenger is learning when to do that, as well as when not to. let's see what he does today.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should not think and react to what others do, but react the way we want to.

Spending 100 mill and still not winning the title is the same as not spending and not winning.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oleg,
Really Mata has not improved us? U have based this argument in wot? 65 mins against Cardiff where he got an assist? Chelsea haven't improved? Um matic in for mikel is much better!

Agree0 Disagree0

CTR, to be fair, a three legged dog is an upgrade on Mikel

Agree0 Disagree0

CTR, I'm not talking about Mata and Matic - as you say, they have barely played and we can't judge yet. And I'm sure Mata will be excellent for you anyway.

Just saying that there are other factors than bringing players in, even when they are big buys. You brought in Fellaini for £27mil, we brought in Flamini for free - Flamini has been much more effective for us. Chelsea brought Willian, Schurrle and are probably paying through the roof for Eto'o's wages - these players have all been good, but Chelsea haven't improved much this season.

Of course big signings can work tremendously - we can't pretend we'd be the same team without Ozil coming in. But my point is that Wenger's being frugal is no more risky than bringing in big players in a panic.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 10:02:21
Gonna be an interesting day. Looks like Draxler is off but Wenger is "80%" sure we'll sign at least 1 person, very likely a midfielder.

What would people prefer: a midfielder or a striker? I'm hoping for the latter - we can just about cover for Ramsey and Flamini but are one Giroud injury away from a major problem.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 08:18:51
Hi fellow Gooners, here we are on the final day waiting for the rabbit to appear yet again. I have question would you prefer Draxler or Di Maria as Malaga is now saying? For me it would be Draxler I think he will be one of the best in the world under Arsene and I think we should go all out to get him, I fear if we don't it will be another Ronaldo moment wishing you all some fingernails left and a big smile come 11pm tonight.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 07:33:06
My god i'm sick of hearing all the haters! A point behind city, a real chance in FA cup and an outside chance in Champions league but everyone is criticizing for not spending any money? Yes we need the odd few players in certain positions but is that any reason to write us off?

Last season we were about 20 points behind United and its safe to say we didn't compete for the title at any point! Players are maturing and the team has strengthened Unbelievably in a short space of time.

So what if we finish behind City this year? Battling for the title or scraping 4th place? We have a young squad that can only improve and I don't doubt there will be big signings in the summer! So all the arsenal haters on here writing us off go down the road to that tiny little club that throws cash round like nobodies business and still battles for Thursday night football

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2014 07:30:44
Dont know anything but just think we will sign both Draxler and a striker today.
I haven't been buzzed by the window in the slightest but have just woke up with this feeling that the Draxler deal is going to happen after all along with a goal scorer.
Mind you I'm the same bloke who was convinced we would sign Torres last summer, so best not buy any new shirts just yet

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62, you my friend are eternally optimistic, lol.

I pray you are correct mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha G62 we always have time for a top fella's predictions!

Honestly I'm not sure about Draxler happening. He's great but Schalke are holding out for a lot of money, I'm not sure Wenger wants to meet their valuation. Hope I'm wrong though!

Otherwise doesn't look like we are very firm on anyone. Vucinic looked a done deal yesterday but seems less likely today. I still have a little feeling le prof has something up his sleeve, hoping its a class CF. Draxler would be a wonderful, wonderful bonus.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2014 02:36:11
Draxler? Costa? Sanchez? Di Maria (steady Malaga!) and Matuidi are all players linked to Arsenal transfers in January 2014.

Now regardless of what happens on deadline day, it's no longer dreadline day when were linked to actual moves for Soloman Kalou and Mohammed Diame! We've come a long way in a year! Big things are on the horizon.

Still picturing a big signing that no-one has really mentioned much like Gundagon for example. (No insider knowledge just saying) Wengers got an ace up his sleeve I reckon, Ozil style.

Enjoy the craziness fellow Gooners!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wenger had no idea of ozil until a week before the deadline, we were stuck with no one at that point.

i honestly think the man can't handle all this alone, and the job alone in todays world is probably way beyond his scope, considering he is a manager as well.

i hope the same, that a player comes and we are in for him.

Schalke will be unreasonable, as Man city, PSG and the La liga giants have skewed the transfer prices.

Do any of these teams need a draxler? NO

do they need anymore players? NO

but they just buy so that the competition is weakened.

Agree0 Disagree0

Um we put in a loan move for him earlier.
