Really think we should go for benteke he's a beast he is young and I know people will say he could be a one season wonder but I think he looks the dogs bo***cks! Imagine having to play against him and giroud defences would get bullied by them!

After watching the game yesterday it got me thinking. Why isn't Rosicky given more opportunities in the starting line up? I'm a massive fan of his and he gave us much needed energy and impetus in the middle of the park. He's still very much a class act, and he allowed Santi (who was on the wing again?) to drift into his favourite position in the middle and covered well.

Looking back to last season he played a major part in us reaching 3rd place, and I'm sure if given the chance he will excel again. I'm completely bamboozled why he never starts, especially in front of Ramsey. (who has improved, don't get me wrong. But Rosicky has more quality)

Also, I'm very confident now in us retaining top four status'. We need Walcott and Jack back to full fitness to do so, but I feel we have the easier run-in and have hit form at the right time. You can see Chelsea and the spurs burning out already, and they have tough fixtures, including playing each other, which is a massive bonus.

P. S. Gervinho is still woeful even after another tap-in, shame he couldn't do it against Bradford and Blackburn!

Believable16 Unbelievable2

Rosicky is getting as much rest as the club can give him so as not to be injured when he moves in the summer.

Likeliest move is BVB on a pay as you play contract and moved into a staff position.

Agree4 Disagree4

My posts always are along the same line, rosicky speeds things up and drives forward, go back to last season whEn he came in, we improved greatly

In the worst ever team- what about Peter Marinello. bought as the next georgey best but couldn't hit the ball hard enough to reach the 6yard box from the by-line

Yes I agree with you I had forgotten about him jesus we would be top of the premership for crap players signed through the years

In all fairness he's had a very tough life, don't be so hard on him.

How about Glen Helder? George Grahams last buy. Winger who made 39 apps, scoring 1 goal. A totall miss. Glad we got Marc Overmars when Helder was out on loan.

Hi Ed, do you see Wenger offering Fabianski a new contract as it is due to end this summer as a result of his recent run of form? Or will he look to sign an experienced keeper this summer, if so who are the likely targets? Valdes? Vorm? Reina? Begovic? {Ed027's Note - time will tell, i think he's giving him a chnace to prove himself

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I hope we buy a top class keeper because flappyanski has had many chances and always made a howler which in most cases cost us a game. I think him coming back in shows how poor our goal keeping choices are. Along with a top striker and top dm a top keeper is priority in the summer

Turns out Diaby had consistent injury problems before he signed for Arsenal. Wenger took a gamble back then, and he is still paying for it now.

7 years (!) diaby has been at Arsenal, and in that time, he has played less than 100 league games for the club.

Its actually laughable if you compare Diaby with other Arsenal players who are not wanted at the club. Bendtner for example. Bendtner has contributed to more goals/assists/victories than Diaby has. and nobody wants bendtner at the club.

I mean, stat wise, Denilson has almost played as many premier league matches for asrsenal as diaby has!

How can Wenger (and the fans) justify keeping diaby on the books based on glimpses of talent once per season, whilst wanting to drop and sell players that are fit and ready to play games?

Im not saying that Denilson is as gifted as diaby, but atleast he can play a game.

I'd like to see the opinions of the people who post on here.

Is diaby worth keeping? don't go offtopic either about how we should be buying wanyama and capoue and matuidi and de-rossi ET AL, as there will be plenty of time for your unrealistic football manager desires when the season ends.

Agree - keep diaby
Disagree - sell him (terminate his contract) once and for all!

Believable14 Unbelievable37

I like him but for me only way he stays is on pay as you play deal, and we sign someone to replace him in first team

Agree15 Disagree4

He should of been sold last summer and a more reliable replacement bought in. We all knew he would never play a full season except arsene? Hopefully he sees this now?

Agree12 Disagree2

Diaby is injury prone - (not his fault)
Bendtner is a lazy c### - (completely his fault)
On top of that Bendtner tells us how wonderful he is, which doesn't fool the majority of Arsenal fans who have eyes that are fully fuctional. Bit of an inconvenience that for the Dane.

Agree12 Disagree0

Daniel your post is a bit strange, I mean denilson and bentner just aren't good enough I think you even concede that, but diaby has shown glimpses of being a world class player which you also concede, so I just can't make sense of the comparasons you have made. unfortunatly no one has a crystal ball to look into the future and most gooners including myself thought that this could finally be the season diaby leaves his injuries behind him and shows the world how good a player he actually is, but alas it just wasnt to be. I think that is prob the end (with arsenal)for the poor lad cause even if he does regain fitness next year or the year after he will be at an age where it will be to late plus AW will no doubt now for the first time in 6-7 years have to plan a midfield for the 2013/14 season with diaby completly out of the equation, which means a new player. unfortunatly the writing is on the wall for diaby how it ends I don't know but I wish him well

trev the gooner

Agree11 Disagree0

We can't sell him, no-one will buy no point terminating his contract (paying it off) might as well keep him till it expires, then offer pay as you play.

Agree3 Disagree1

Functional. Before the spelling Gestapo comment.

Agree1 Disagree0

It was the tackle by Dan Smith in '06 that caused all the sh*t going on w/ Diaby now.

Was barely "Injury Prone" at all before joining us. Fact.

Agree4 Disagree1

Diaby struggled with injuries a lot of the time at auxerre. and at 18-19 years of age, that is a sign. 'Fact'.

Trust Arsenal fans.

So we should extend Gervinho's contract now. he scored and played decent against Reading.

This guy is rubbish.

He is quick, does what he does on the fly, never knowing what he's going to do, it just happens. A defender will struggle.

Pay attention to every time he goes down the line. when 'attempting' to put a cross in the ball travels 15mph along the floor EVERY time. Either cut out by a defender or trickling hopelessly into open space.

When he's shooting. I imagine he's wearing flip flops, like he tries to hit it such a way he doesn't hurt his foot, which result in a scuff shot, that trickles wide. He'll score the odd tap in, like yesterday, but as we all saw against Bradford and Blackburn he's more than capable of missing when it's easier to score.

Yesterday is the best I've seen him play. which if I'm being honest, is truly hilarious.

Galatasary offering 12m? I'd take 5m and Muslera.

Part of the reason we are so up and down, our standards have dropped so far. Fans are willing to accept he, and others are good enough for one of the world's elite clubs. End rant.

Believable21 Unbelievable3

Steve knows best, could not agree with you more he ain't good enough for our club I'd call him a headless chicken with the ball but that would be an insult to a poor chicken who already lost his head. He has had two seasons now and he has proved he ain't good enough

Agree7 Disagree1

People getting really carried away with that win over reading. Bayern munich, fine. Swansea away, fine. (spurs beat them aswell. they are on a terrible run of form) but going on about how good someone is because he played well against reading. well, it looks silly.

When arsenal play everton, or man utd. let's ascertain how much we need some of these players, and if they perform when they really need to perform.

Ramsey against carrick in midfield? only one winner for me. Gervinho against valencia? again. Giroud vs vidic? not only does giroud jump a second too early for every long ball. he has no pace to speak of. I think he has an excellent touch for a big man, and he is smart with the ball sometimes. a bit like peter crouch.

Agree4 Disagree5

Geronimo is a scandalous waste of money. Lille FC must have thought that Christmas had arrived early!
Why is our Club suckered into so many sub - standard players.
Geronimo
Chamakh
Bendtner
Diaby (injury-prone and over hyped)
Denilson
Almunia
Arshavin (Promising start then?)
Park (Who?)
Squillaci (Dear oh dear)
This is just a recent-ish list. Let's not forget Stepanovs, Wreh, Cygan.
I can't go on it's depressing me. We must employ the Ex-Lax system.
and have a massive clear-out at the end of this season. It was essential to get the points on saturday and it was an easy win. Let's see if we can up the effort against Everton and the Mancs. Beat these two and we will get 3rd place!

Just watching Eriksen play at the moment.

He really is a high quality player. Good off set pieces too.

Also don't mind the Ajax LB, Blind I think his name is.

But seriously, Eriksen is a freak. He'd be perfect for Arsenal.

Nick.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Not what we need IMO. He doesn't score enough goals, gets assists but we've got santi and wilshere who are at the same if not better level.
What we need are skillful attacking players who can beat their defender, find a pass, have an eye for goal, and consistent. Isco and gotze fit the bill perfectly. You might say they are CAMs and playing them wide would be a waste, but everytime I see them play they are always drifting, but cover the wide positions very well.

Hy guys
I'm watching liverpool villa and I'd like to hear your opinions on Benteke.
I'm really impressed by his overall game, he is winning headers, holding the ball and his finishing seems to be there.
I believe he can be that striker we need, a real focal point of our attack. Any chances he could be on Wenger's radar eds?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Benteke is quality, but for me, the difference between villa and liverpool, is that you know suarez is going to score if you give him chances. the same isn't said for benteke. Are we better than liverpool? are we aiming higher? then we need someone as good as suarez upfront.

Agree8 Disagree2

I don't understand, he got his chance and scored, to me he does look like scoring when he gets a chance, and his goals this season further solidify this.
He looks confident and isn't afraid to take a shot outside the box, which we severely lack.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say Gerviniho will be instrumental in us achieving a top 4 finish. I know he can be frustrating however there is a definite talent there and one that will shine in the coming weeks.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

Did you watch the tv highlights of the game? It was really interesting to see that one of the commentators was so frustrated with Gervi. On the one hand he would take the ball past three or four players but then he would miss simple chances and give the ball away.

So, I think you could be right but I really hope we can get top four in a more comfortable way! If I have to rely on Gervi scoring goals my nerves will be in tatters!

Koscielny needs to start ever game. Easily our best defender and Mertesacker's experience compliments him well.

I'm so gutted to Jenkinson being dropped though, I want him as our first choice right back.

with representation at the dortmund stuggart game yesterday, was gotze someone arsenal were looking at by any chance? {Ed029's Note - Ed02 suggested it might be Lewandowski on the Liverpool page but obviously if someone is at a game they will pay attention to everone playing.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A web site says we are interested in both and will make a bid in the summer of 70 million for lars bender of leverkusen, lewandolski and mario gotze of BVB Dortmund.

(gotze has a relese clause of 30 million which apparently ends in july)

Arsenal scouts could be watching gotze play for the next 7 years. that's how long it takes them to decide if he has technical ability or not.

It could be, its going to be a close one this year. Everton are very much still in it. They play Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs if I'm correct. Their results will determine who finishes 4th and 3rd. We have to beat them when we play them. I'm hoping for lots of draws when Chelsea, Everton and Spurs all play eachother.

Next weekend I think we'll beat WBA 3-1 or 2-1 and a fatigued Chelsea will get a 0-0 draw with Spurs. Personally I think us and Spurs will finish top 4.

I actually feel really sorry for Diaby. Every time he gets close to finding some form, he injures himself, usually long term.

It hurts to say this, as I think he has/had the potential to be a fantastic player,
But unfortunately, I think it's time he moved on.

We can't afford to have these sorts of players on our list.

I think we should replace him with one of Bender, Wanyama etc.

Plus sell chamakh and Bendtner for good, and bring in one class winger (Sanchez, Ben Arfa) and one prolific striker (Jovetic, Dzeko, Doumbia, Cavani).

Does anyone else here think we should sell Diaby?

That was unbelievable. The atmosphere electric. What an awesome stadium. I am seriously floating on a cloud right now. And to top the day off we won and scored 4. Club level is something else also. There is nothing like that back home.

We probably could have scored 3/4 more as well, but I'm not going to complain too much because my cheeks are sore from smiling and my throat is sore from singing.

Loved the rocky rocastle chants as well. Spine tingling and very moving.
