Hi Ed's,

Just read that the top tackler in the premier league so far this season is Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton. He comes from france and was on the Arsenal radar years ago.

Seeing as we are looking for a defensive midfielder, and seeing as Arsenal have made deals with southampton in the past (walcott, chamberlain) - what do you think the chances would be of Arsene making a bit for Schneiderlin this summer?

I rate him personally. Even scoring a few goals at the moment.

cheers {Ed027's Note - He's just signed a new deal, i dubt he'll move any time soon, and i also think Arsenal could be too much of a jump, our targets are Wanyama and Capoue for the holding role

Goetze would be my dream signing and would love Klopp to replace Wenger. Never been a fan of any club other than Arsenal but over last few years I've got a soft spot for BVB.

Agree12 Disagree4

I think Gundogan will be just as good in future. That kid oozes class

Klopp should be the top target

Hey Ed, could you get me anything on the kit sponsors? Who are the probable sponsors we can get next, according to you? {Ed027's Note - We've signed a new deal with emirates mate

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he meant Nike, adiddas ETC ed mate.

SM1996 {Ed027's Note - Oh i see, well we aren't in a good position at the moment, we want a big improvement on the current deal, but Nike now have deals with England, and are close to making one with Man City, they don't need us anymore, they are happy to let us go, but the thing is Adiddas claim to have no intrest, and if thats true we could have a bit of a issue. I heard Puma were intrested, but i reckon our best bet is Adiddas, after loosing Liverpool they could do with us, remember this is for the 2014/15 season a lot can change by then, Fulham look to be Adiddas's newest recruits, and chelsea's off the field problems could affect there current deal.

Won't miss Nike their Arsenal clothing is badly constructed.

Was watching a Youtube video last night that highlights Carl Jenkinson's season so far. Although I have been saying all year that sagna should never have been reinstated as the rb for arsenal, this video is a healthy reminder of why. Question. If Jenkinson, Koscielny and gibbs are in our back 4, who has a faster defensive line in the world?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Pace is an advantage for sure but discipline, shape and a good understanding is equally if not more important.

Sorry Malaga but was browsing and just answered a general question! Not my fault your defenders are c**p! It's true, it is quiet on our site and apart from the odd few that spout a load of bull, you very much included, it's quite interesting reading on this site!

I think our chances of finishing in the top four will hinge on the fitness of Mikel Arteta. If you remember last season, he was injured (against Wigan) and the only game we won in his absence was the WBA game where we were thankful to Fulop. I really think that from now on if he stays fit, and with Jack and Theo to come back soon, and of course the extra fixtures spurs and Chelski have to play (wouldn't mind the two meeting in the Europa SF, with spurs winning then getting battered by Benfica in the final), then I believe we can get top 4.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

Ramsey can fill that role.

Agree8 Disagree1

Lol, very bemused by the disagrees. Yes I know Ramsey can fill that role and has done really well of late, but having Wilshere and Walcott back soon is better than not having them back, wouldn't you agree? Point is, Arteta is still our main man.

Agree2 Disagree5

Maybe, but I don't think Arteta will be first choice next season or possibly even at the club.

thoughts on podolski anyone? as in, why doesn't he get played?

paul

Believable2 Unbelievable1

From what I have seen, if he does not get involved in play he looks rather ineffective.

a simple example. if you watch barcelona play. you will see messi walking about. doing nothing for 5 mins at a go. then all of a sudden he is in there and its a goal.

difference is with podolski. he doesn't score like messi. he just gets taken out of the game that he needs to be subbed. keep feeding him the ball and he starts to become a threat.

also looks tired after 50-60 mins. I read it was about his fitness however.

Agree2 Disagree2

As I understand it he is carrying an injury. Will have surgery in the summer and is currently playing (occasionally) through the pain.

Agree3 Disagree0

Podolski doesn't pose much of a threat in games, I think wenger has noticed this. Only so many times you can see your left winger run 40 yards forwards, recieve the ball, and then pass it back to the left back. Podolski does that all the time. Gervinho, for all of his weaknesses, actually runs at a fullback and tries to beat him. Podolski rarely tries.

Agree2 Disagree4

Throughout his career in the Bundesliga or as a German international he has played as a striker or "second striker" and has scored goals-a-plenty. He is not a left winger! Classic case of Wenger playing a great player out of position a la Arshavin.

CECEGUaW

Agree12 Disagree2

Every time I have seen AA shine for club and country, he has attacked from the left.

Thought we played him left side also?

Could be wrong.

Difference is he was asked to work a bit harder and put on too much weight. Got dropped and as with all players struggled with form as in and out of the team.

Plus when he had that bad run - we were missing our proper full backs so asked more of him.

When AA played the DB10 role - he never impressed to be honest.

I think he was best where Wenger played him out left but when the team struggled the fans were not happy with his efforts. He was a luxury we could not afford.

I liked AA as he could change a game plus had great stats. However, behind those stats was a player who jumped in and out of games. You can afford that until you need every player to fight for possession and every ball.

Still an AA fan but not sure Wenger did much wrong.

I was just reading that Arsenal have been put on alert about Dzeko. Citeh is planning on moving him out this summer. I think this would be a far better option than Jovetic due to his experience and talent, and would also give Giroud some real competition. He has been wasted at Citeh, and we should have signed him two seasons ago.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Dzeko is going to BVB.

Agree1 Disagree2

City won't sell him to us. unless we stump up the fee they paid for him or more. do you see that happening?

Like what we should have done with persie. they will even sell him for 5 mill to BVB and make a loss of 20 million rather than sell him to us.

Don't expect a RB to be signed, Jenkinson has come leaps and bounds this season and we have Bellerin comming into the squad next season. So even if Sagna leaves its not a area of mass concern. What I do know is that wenger is going to promote at least 3 youngsters too the first team squad (Gnabry, Bellerin and Eisfield for sure) weather this means they train with the first team till Jan and then go out on loan (Seems likely) or just float between first team and reserves, will have to wait and see. Caipoue and Wanyama seem to be first choice for the DM role, Capioue being favoured because he is seen as the better passer. I know Wenger wants Gotze and the notion is that if we don't buy him this summer, next summer he is out of out league but he definelty wants somebody to play out wide and drift in-field. Jovetic seems as good as done (Heard it before) but Wenger is watching the Lewandoski situation. CB is also on the cards, heard the name howedes {Ed029's Note - Not Howedes I understand.}

Hi Eds and all Gooners

Do you think Fabregas will retire at Barcalona or now that he has pretty much won everything he might feel he has some unfinished business with us.

Thx
CH

Believable4 Unbelievable4

He won't retire for another 10 years at least. I suspect he will only ever play for us and Barca. He would want to establish himself at Barca (replace Xavi). He will only come back either for a very short period at the end of his career (In which case he would probably play DM), or if Barca sign someone else to replace Xavi.

Agree3 Disagree1

Barca don't need to sign a player to replace xavi, they have cesc and thiago alcantara to do it. If thiago for whatever reason, starts playing centrally as cesc keeps being played as a winger/striker for messi or villa. then I can see cesc leaving barca sooner than predicted. Cesc was an absolute star for arsenal, and at barca he is just another cog in a machine that is designed to feed messi the ball at all times.

Agree4 Disagree0

I think xavi still has 1-2 years left in him and once he is done that place will probably go to thiago. He has earned it and is better suited to that role than cesc atleast that's what I feel. If that happens there is a chance we could see cesc move though.

Wenger is smart he has added some sort of buy-back option for cesc.
