Glad to see you lot in confident mood for next weekend against your little minnows, the club you haven't beaten away in years and are looking up at them yet again. Some of your fans saying its going to be 3 or 4 to Arsenal made me wondering where you get your gear from lol as you had the runaround by bottom of the league Swansea on Tuesday. Aubameyang is your saviour yet is not fit to lace the boots of the greatest finisher in world football in Kane who will do his usual damage yet again next week and end your faint hopes of European football again.

Who said we will beat you 3 or 4 nil?

Steve.

Raver61 - heard it all before when Redknapp was in charge at the home of failure. Remind us what trophies the Harry Kane team has won under your amazing manager and world-beating players?

Agree2 Disagree1

04 Feb 2018 08:33:30
Raver is high once again? Noone here is talking about 3-4that you are mentioning, I guess that would be voices in your head.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 08:40:28
Hi Slovak, raver61 is deluded as a result of supporting a team that hasn't won a thing during his living memory. He is still reeling from having lost to Arsenal this season. Of course the match at Wembley will be tough and I haven't heard a single Arsenal fan suggest we will put three or four past the toot. In reality we must avoid defeat to have any chance of a top four finish. With CL football returning soon the teams above us may drop points in the league and allow us an opportunity to sneak into the top four.

Can't see why some people are moaning Auba was offside.
Their keeper played him onside.

Some people know nothing about football 😉.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 23:53:08
Dags some people never stop moaning. He was just too quick for the slow mo camera and linesman.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 00:39:35
It was one of those where his body was offside but feet in line. Even if he was a yard inside he beat his man. Good finish non the less. He’s very confident in himself . I like it looked dangerous and busy.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 08:15:44
The ref gave a goal and hence a goal it is. Good to have a forward with excellent movement, pace and quality finishing, as it unsettles teams.
I felt that if we signed Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan it would make up for the loss of Sanchez. I liked how hard we worked as a team to defend and how togther the team was.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Feb 2018 10:23:33
lacca is also a good finisher would love both them upfront together.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 21:10:52
Alexis who?
Damn this team looks gooood! Ozil and Mkhi that's some serious creativity right there. Aubameyang and Lacazette are both good finishers and they will get a lot of chances to score with those two providing them.
Hopfully we salvage something this season and in the summer we finally add one physical dm (creative midfielders are really unnecessary) and a decent cb. Koscielny is not getting any younger and Mustafi is not reliable enough. I believe Ramsey will be a machine in that setup along with the new dm. We have great fullbacks in Bellerin and Kolasinac and our attacking power will be scary.
It's just two signings they have to get it right this time.
So excited!

03 Feb 2018 20:43:24
Great performance, albeit Sam's selection certainly made it easy for us.

Lovely movement and interchanging by the front lad's and a big shout out to Ramsey, who was awesome.

Big fan of Laca, so was not happy to see him on bench for 90 mins.
Would still play him out wide in place of Iwobi.

Also, massive shout out to Mhiki, who loves to play one touch football, unlike Sanchez who hogs the ball (Still love him though) .

Great result and performance.

Now the toot for the same treatment Dags.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 22:14:13
Yeah let's not get too carried away Everton were poor but good signs going forward with how well Aubu and Mkhi gelled straight into the side the two linking up were almost telepathic at times. Aubu's pace will terrify the life out of defenders and that's at only 80-90%. Not Sure why Wenger loves Iowbi so much I think Laca could play a slightly deeper role in behind Aubu in Iowbi's place. My concern really is having the LMAO 4 in the team will leave the the 2 central midfielders exposed somewhat so they they really need to stay back a bit more. Did not matter today as Everton were so bad but we need to be intelligent about it in future games, Ramsey, Xhaka or whoever else need to be more reserved and let those front 4 do the talking more.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 22:31:48

Auba reminiscent of Henry?

Speed and movement?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 22:15:19

03 Feb 2018 22:20:22
Henry who Dags?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 20:35:31
I have to admit I saw glimpses of why Arsene persists with Iwobi. It's raw, but it's there. Great performance, but I feel for Lacazette. :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 22:19:38
Perhaps he feels he can't put the full on LMAO front 4 in there together as its just too attacking and feels Iwobi may be more inclined to track back a bit more and help Xhaka and Ramsey who will have to learn to be a lot more defensive minded (Not sure Xhaka is capable of this) in future games. Did not matter today as Everton were poor and were biltzed early but in future games we can't afford to be too open and leave huge gaps in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 23:30:11
I like that you are sticking up for the kid but at the moment and we can't keep waiting, i don't see what he brings to the team. He runs around like a headless chicken sometimes, he doesn't score and he doesn't create and that's what he is in the team for. He isn't a defender and he isn't a wide player.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 20:34:01
Just for my mate sharpe. What a great first half today. Lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

03 Feb 2018 22:09:24
But 😁.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 22:35:35
You are obviously a glass half empty kind of guy. You saw a great first half while a few of us saw a great all round game. Even when the pressure was on in the second half, the team stayed focused and resolute.

Your abject failure to be unbiased is sad really. After every game that we don't win, you're on here telling anyone who'll listen how bad Wenger is, how his tactics are rubbish, how is team selection sucked, etc.

It's got so bad that you're slating now starts before a ball is kicked!

Don't however see you give him any kudos when we win a game like we did today. It's always, "great first half", or "It worries me though wengers stubbornness, arrogance or blindness with certain players". We won the game in emphatic fashion; why not just enjoy that?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 23:42:40
Sharpe its called opinion and when we are in a better place than we are i can be more positive. I keep telling you I've done with wenger, i don't see him as being the one anymore, i can't give him any praise, when i don't think he is doing this team any favours. Again that's my opinion, i know i'm on my own with that but maybe in time others might think the same too. The team for me either drags us out of it or he drags us into it. Again, i enjoyed the first half, because i thought the second half wasnt as good, i apologise. I accept your opinion, accept mine. I am biased towards wenger, you don't have to tell me that, i'm sorry i can't help it. And i ain't going for counselling either. Maybe if we start achieving things again and I've lowered my sights, reluctantly, i may give him credit, but don't anyone hold their breath.

03 Feb 2018 19:26:00
You can only beat the team in front of you and everton were atrocious but we actually have a partnership, can't think of one we have had anywhere in this team for years. It worries me though wengers stubbornness, arrogance or blindness with certain players, who will let us down. But welcome myki and auba.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 19:37:52
You really need to get a grip, chap! We do well and all you do is give a little praise and then inundate with your negative rhetoric. Basically, if we lose, Wenger is bad, and if we win, he's bad too. Ridiculous!

03 Feb 2018 19:50:16
Be happy steve😎.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 20:00:35
Sharpe i think i make a fair point, i hope i get proven wrong, i support arsenal not arsene. Sorry for that because that won't change. I want us to win so much, i probably do pick up on the wenger negatives but hey ho. I just get annoyed watching his treatment of good players, that he as given no leeway too and ignore the obvious flaws and keep playing the players that are letting us down. You have a point about today, for me its not all about today but the long term. I actually did like the fact we now have a partnership. I don't think its rediculous either, otherwise we might be in a lot better position than we find ourselves today. that's what we all want. I don't change my mind with the wind, it takes more than that but that's me.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 20:29:56
My positve point was about the partnership, i suppose i just can't help the other bit because I've had it with wenger but that for me is a big plus.

Steve the only teams with more silverware than us over the past 5, 10, 15 and 20 years are who?

Over the past 5 years - only money bags Chelsea, City and Utd

Money has changed the fundamentals of the game and dropped us down a tier - I want more and expect more also but I also understand it will require something super special for us to be a consistent top 2 team or win the league no matter who is in charge

Should we lose to Swansea - no

Should we not get our wobbly defence sorted out - of course we should but we are an attacking team and I guess we aim to outscore the opposition rather than concede less.

Could we have invested the Granit money smarter - I concede, yes.

Does Wenger have a stubborn side - yes but that produced the invincibles. Does he deserve respect - yes.

03 Feb 2018 17:13:49
How in the hell is iwobi getting in this team. Wilshere albeit coming back from illness is still better than iwobi. Beggars belief. Xhaka better pull his finger out and concentrate 90 mins and not switch off. either play niles or kolasniac there otherwise. Apart from that i'm happy. Lacazette needs a break. hopefully the competition will help him lift his game.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 16:50:01
Im sorry but what else did we expect. Auba in great, but iwobi in and lacca out, xhaka in and wilshire out, cech in and ospina out. Players have to take responsibility for abject performances and wenger rewards ours. Top four is a memory.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 17:06:29
Couldn't agree more. Lacazette has done nothing to merit be dropped, and Wilshire has shown enough in recent outings to deserve a start ahead of the hapless Xhaka. We are unbalanced and paying the price for not having bought a wide player to replace the three we sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - and everyone was saying it was a great transfer window for Arsenal. I agree mate I don’t think your team has the correct equilibrium but your not to far away. I’m sure your new scouting network will get things right in the summer.

03 Feb 2018 17:09:53
All this before a ball is kicked. You must be clairvoyant.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I went to school with a girl called Clair Voyant she would always be telling me she’d never go out with me. Baffled me how she could predict the future like that?

03 Feb 2018 17:14:41
I didn't see the swansea game but the highlights i have seen of xhakas part in the goals and other chances is something that deserves the sack, let alone dropping. Why can't wenger see he is a massive problem for us. The guy is useless.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - Wenger is loyal and a little stubborn. Oh and he can’t see that Xhaka is as about as useful as an out of date Viagra pill.

03 Feb 2018 17:25:28
Agree ed, he isn't a prem standard player, let alone arsenal. I cringe watching him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I feel your pain Steve we have Gini and Milner in our midfield.

03 Feb 2018 17:27:25
Ed0333, I honestly think you're reading too much into her rejection. Maybe she just thought you were too good for her. The alternative train of thought is much worse. Maybe she could see the future like Steve can .

03 Feb 2018 16:49:29
No place for Lacasette who has been very dropable and subable by Arsene since he joined us while Xhaka remains undropable despite a year and a half of performances.
Arsene doesn't seem afraid to be see to have wasted 50 million on Lacasette but the 34 million for Xhaka he seems totally obsessed about being seen as getting it right.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 16:56:46
Can’t agree more. But auba is a cf and he has to play if match sharp. Time for lacazette to keep trying like Giroud always did. He has a vital role at arsenal should he choose to accept.

I think it really is time to either try a flat 4-4-2 but I think arsenal don't have the lungs in midfield, or better yet to accommodate all attackers, a diamond in the midfield with Ramsey pivoting (I've had enough of xhaka) wilshere and mikhi floating in the middle and ozil the number ten for AL9 and PEA14. And I really love monreal but I fear he doesn't know any better, no idea why kolasinac is benched so often. i'd start him
What did you guys think?
#COYG.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 14:52:04

03 Feb 2018 15:03:31
The main problem is non of our decent attack player are out and out wingers. You would end up with miki and ozil out there and you wouldn’t get the best out of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 16:33:21
Both laca and auba can play on the wing so depending on the side the ball is on the would float outwide. But I agree, there were quite a few wingers available that we could have got.

We could concede a few goals today - if Rooney plays the same type of balls Cesc plays against us, then Theo could run riot on our disorganised back line.

Interesting to see where Rooney plays and how we line up

Hopefully Lacazette and Auba have great games.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 12:19:17
Rooney is usailly a problem for Arsenal in some way but I think we will win today.
I'm very aware of our ability to lose to anyone at any time in any place and no defeat to anyone anywhere surprises me now days with this Arsenal side, but I think today we will be ok for some reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 11:25:47
Did Wenger control our transfer window or our new "director of football"?

"Yes, because our defensive numbers are not good enough and that's where we needed some possible strengthening as well. We have to improve our defensive numbers. We want to go in the top four. We have to improve our offensive numbers and defensive numbers, " Wenger said talking about Arsenal's failure to bring in defensive reinforcements, as quoted on Arsenal's official site.

"I already talked about that and I believe we have to find an internal solution to our defensive problems, and that means everyone putting more effort in. But overall I am happy with the way things went in the transfer market, " the French coach added.

Number of people saying that Auba wasn't a Wenger signing etc.

Wenger also saying we didn't have the money to sort out the defence.

Wenger saying we have to try and score more and defend together.

Interesting times and there's some writing on the wall.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Feb 2018 09:01:26
Following the dreadful defeat to Swansea, we need to win today against Everton and get at least a draw away to the Toot, otherwise any faint hopes of a top four spot are over.
Today concerns me, as Everton will be well organised and Walcott could terrorise Monreal, if we select him at left back and play a suicidal high defensve line. For this match I would not select Maitland-Niles at LB, as he has pace to burn, even though he can be found out playing at LB. Alternatively, KOlasinac, who is also quick and has a physicality that Walcott could struggle against.

Our set up just doesn’t suit Granit ( there you go Steve - I concede ) especially if we are to play all 4 Attacking players! #LAMO #betterscoreloadsaswewillconcede.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2018 14:25:19

The Wilshere contract situation amazes me. He has been our most impressive performer recently and yet we offer him a lower basic salary than he wa on, whilst we give inconsistent Ozil a whopping £350,000 a week and injured Cazorla's deal was extended by a year and even now Wenger is talking of giving him a deal.
If we lose Wilshere, what will it cost to replace him?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

03 Feb 2018 08:03:06
We've paid Jack a lot of money to sit in the stands for a lot of years, I don't think a pay cut until he proves his fitness over a season unreasonable. Caz as with Mertesacker Artetta Rosicky is ridiculous jobs for the boys stuff and that has been a big part of our downfall over the years. Cosy contacts sum up the lack of fighting mentality at the club.

Agree1 Disagree3

03 Feb 2018 08:21:36
You have to remember that in the summer a lot of people on this site was critical of wilshere high wages and his injury record. That includes yourself, you often mention Wenger 'socialist' wage structure. What we have to remember about wilshere is that he has still has a lot to prove. Yes he has a good few months but can he do it season after season.

Wenger gets a lot of critism but one thing he does is stick by his players and gives them a chance. I think wilshere has a lot of lives at arsenal and I think the contract offer from arsenal is fair. If he wants more money or a longer deal then he needs to earn it. We can't keep hold of player just because they have had a good few weeks. If there is any player that we should take a risk on, it should be wilshere. Just because he has come back through the ranks and his love for arsenal. But we can't keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

If he wants to stay then sign the contract. If he wants more money then start showing consistent form season after season. If money is the reason that he leaves then he can go. Too many players at our club are happy to accept a wage and then give up when we really need them. I hope he stays but not too fussed if he doesn't.

I don’t think it’s fair to use injurys as an excuse but that as you say is probably a deciding factor in all this . I think he should be paid the same and made club captain.

Wenger's socialist wage policy has evaporated as transfer fees have increased incredibly. What is a fit Wilshere with a long contract worth? £60m possibly? So to replace him will cost £60m, plus high wages. To keep him, could cost say £120,000 a week, £6m a year. His injuries have mainly been impact ones, so to protect him play him further forward where he has to do less tackling and buy a couple of proper DM's.

The thing is if we give Jack a new 5 year deal on the same or more money and then he has yet another long term injury we will all be up in arms at the stupidity of judging his fitness on a couple of good months rather than 5 incredibly unfortunate years of mainly being unavailable.
People can argue that injury can happen to any player which is true of course but the easiest and best way of judging the future is the past not just for Jack but for everyone.
Ledley King was an outstanding player but despite everyone's efforts he just couldn't stay fit.
If Jack loves Arsenal as much as everyone says he will back himself take the pay cut and will over the doubters and if he leaves on a free for a few dollars more then maybe just maybe his love wasn't as deep as he and others have claimed it to be over the years?
If it was me in Jacks position I'd jump at the chance to prove myself and prove my love and show it wanted to give back to a club who paid me a fortune for 5 years when I wasn't available. Yes I think it's a very reasonable ask from the club of a player who has cost us in the past 5 years how much per game available?

Play Jack further forward in place of who? Mesut! :-)
And make him yet one more Arsenal player who doesn't do that defending thing?
Wow we will soon be the first team ever to play a 0 0 0 11 formation taking kick with a huge punt forward and all 11 players rush the keeper :-)
Not being funny RG but we can't keep making allowances for what people can't do, we need players who either can or don't belong in our team if hhinga are to improve.

@rg61 you was extremely critical of jack situation not to long ago. Saying how he was how can we have and injury prone player on such high wages.

The argument of playing jack wilshere in a higher position is ridiculous. It won't make him less injury prone. He's fortunate that he's still an arsenal player. He could've been discarded last year and forget about getting an England call up and a possible world cup spot.

If you look at the past comments on whilshere on this page, the majority wanted to get rid of him, which includes yourself. He's lucky Wenger stuck by him. Good player but so much left to prove.

I think that's the thing Pretender14 mate, we should all be happy for Jack to have the platform to WIN a new contract rather than simply be given one like so many have in the past.
Jack is staying fit right now which is excellent news but is it all good fortune?
Is he doing things a little differently off the pitch now that his future at Arsenal or big club is in the ballance?
For years Jack was accepted as our future regardless of his behaviour on and off the field but since his future has become uncertain he seems to have become more focused, would sudden security see him revert back to his old ways?
Maybe a season of having to prove himself for the first time ever since the age of 14 would be the turning point in a career that has up till now been blighted by injury and indiscretion.
A grown up responsible Jack Wilshire might be what we've all been waiting for, keep him hungry for a bit longer so his new attitude beds in and becomes a way of life rather than make the same mistakes as with Theo who always seemed to play well at new contract time.
