With all the deadwood leaving its inevitable we will definitely sign some new players.

So Wenger will only buy if the player will improve the team - isn't that the idea behind most player purchases? Which then begs the question - how do you improve on a team currently lying 6th, 2 points above Liverpool and 18 points behind MU?
Well I'd start by buying some defenders who can defend, put some steel into the midfield, wingers who can cross, and a striker that can score. It's a start anyway.

Another transfer window that will fill us arsenal fans disappointment.

Just saying lads, Don't get too excited. Chances are we will sign one decent player that will not be enough to see us qualify for champions league. We're realy up against it this year lads.

Losing squillaci and djourou (and maybe chamach) may be a blessing in some of our eyes, but we don't have enough strength in depth as it is.

I like every other arsenal fan want the likes of mvilla, villa, Lopez, gotze and all these other stars to sign with us. Truth is there not as likely as we think. We may get one of these players which will in my opinion... Not be enough.

Sorry to put a downer on things.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

We have plenty of depth we need to sell to free squad spaces before anyone can come in

Agree0 Disagree3

"we have plaenty of depth??"

Please explain to me how we have depth in defence? Also do we realy have a 25 goal a season striker. Short answer as much as you would like to kid yourself is no!!!! Wake up man!!

Who Arsenal need to sign

GK: A reliable goalkeeper who can challenge for the No.1 spot.

My Choice: Thilbaut Courtious £5-7M

DF: A quick full back who can attack and defend.

My Choice: Luke Shaw £10-12M

DCM: A player who breaks down attacks with a great vision.

My Choice: Alfriyie Acquah £10-13M

CF: Pacy, strong, clinical. That's what we're missing.

My Choice: Loic Remy £10-15M

What's your thoughts Ed? Gooner For Life {Ed002's Note - Why would Chelsea sell Courtois for such money?}

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Not a single of them is good enough.

Agree1 Disagree5

There's no chance Chelsea would let Arsenal sign Courtious they loaned him there to sign Falcao, secondly we need someone who can stay right in front of the defender like Capoue and winners who always cross the ball and then sell Gervinho who can't cross the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love Shaw. He is like 5 or 6 years younger than gibbs and looks twice the man.

Sign him up!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Isn't he joining Stoke or Sunderland on loan apparently?

Stone the holy crows of babylon! Theres splinters everywhere at the emirates as "the dead wood" is flying out the door. Djourou to hannover or german side within week, squillaci free to aek athens and chamackadonkasaurus to west ham. Asharvin set for talks with reading, qpr and 3 russian teams re leaving jan. also strong rumours fripong, ramsey to be sent on loan. new players in gooners? Figures crossed

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Ramsey just signed a long term deal, and Wenger loves him.
Won't be loaned.

Frimpong is already on loan.

D

Agree3 Disagree3

I cant see Wenger Giving Ramsey a new contract then putting him out on loan......One thing Frimpong gives is 100%....maybe a few young players introduced to the team would take the likes of Southampton a little more serious....only the big games seem to motivate these players....Underestimating the likes of Sunderland, Fulham, Swansea and Villa....but giving their all against the Spuds.....

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't sell the bear's skin before killing it mate but even if some deadwood remains after this transfer window, we can hope that the most rotten part of it will be gone not later than this summer. This will leave room for both youngsters and fresh recruits and that's a breathe of fresh air. Maybe this will be the resurrection we're waiting for almost eight years. Hope's free...

Good news on Squillaci and Djourou going. Walcott situation drawing to a close i feel. Arshavin also a strong possibility of going out on loan with view to move in summer.

I dont see why our interest has re-surfaced for M'villa his attitude wasnt good enough in the summer and from all reports has improved now hence why he doesnt get game time, SO WHY? Wanayama isnt moving in January why would Celtic sell when still in CL?

Sahin looking to leave Liverpool already as he cant handle Premier league so pleased we didnt get him.

I dont see us buying a CDM why when Wenger is happy playing Arteta there and he has Coq and Frimpong. I think attacking options are more likely in a move for Lopez, and a keeper personally as mentioned i would love to see Handanovic come in.

How are the loan players doing? Campbell? Wellington(remember the next Brazillian god)?

Outs in JAN
Djourou, Squillacci, Arshavin, Santos.

Lopez, Keeper,

hi eds do you know if there is any truth to brain marwood (ex man city transfer fixer) coming to arsenal in a "david dein" role?

or that wenger has approached a dallas-based super-agent (forget his name) to identify available talent get deals done for him?

i know that after darren dein's clients all held the club to ransom and forced moves away, arsenal have put policies in place to not work with such agents again in future (hence no follow up to interest in demba ba.)

Wenger needs help; i think he must spend all of his time on the training ground this jan to get his players up for every game, and leave the business to someone else for a while.

cheers redgoon {Ed002's Note - I don't know of anything other than rumour. I did ask someone associated with the club just before New Year and he said he had not heard about it at all. However, given his position at MCFC is potentially a problem and his background, it would make sense.}

When ramsey and gervinho came of the bench against southampton, i knew we wouldn't score any more. Our two most uselss players that get game time.

Agree1 Disagree6

We didn't look like scoring before that u clown

Agree10 Disagree2

The point is we already had Giroud on so why didnt we bring on Jenko to help down the right and Rosicky to play through the middle - two things we were doing terribly. This would have allowed us to provide, and power through the middle, two things we sucked at all game.

Ramsey who usually at best passes sideways and Gervinho who is fast becoming my most hated player were never going to bring that game home and to be honest I thought Ramsey on was a defensive move to hold out for the draw. Disgraceful.

I really like the look of our first team, it could be really strong, there are however a few problems i see at the moment with the way we play that have been spoken about many times on this site, but i am going to re cap them in hope that someone is listening.

1. The formation is wrong for the players we have and the league we play in. We lack a quality winger how can dribble past players and put in decent deliveries to the front players, but we insist on playing players wide who are not wide men i.e podolski.

2. Our squad does not have enough quality outside the first team, ramsay and gervinho can be decent but they are not enough and need to be integrated slow so as to build confidence. if the first teamers are injured, tired or out of form there is no reliable replacements.

3. We are still susceptible to conceding goals via counter attacks and lack a discliplined holding midfielder.

4. The back five make to many mistakes this seems to derive from coaching and communication, Gibbs has decent physical atributes so do TV and LK but seem to lack organisation, this for me is a coaching matter.

5. The team is very inconsistant, this is a physical and mental problem. Players who are not used to playing so many games at such intensity are becoming jaded (Carzola), also the pressure from the importance of each game is mentally fatiguing. (not an excuse because we all have pressure and are not earning 60k+ p/w).

6. The team attitude is very gung ho especially in the wide areas, the full backs are asked to do alot of running to support the wide men and vice versa, leaving the defence exposed through tiredness and poor positioning.

7. The medical staff and injure record is a joke, the players seem to finely tuned, almost like race horses, and the slightest knock may leave a player on the sidelines for weeks (diaby), this signals overtraining and the wrong kind of training. The players need to be stronger physically and to be stronger pace and speed may have to be sacraficed.

These are just my opinions that I have seen over the last year or so, feel free to criticise!

Happy New Year

Pinchy the Gooner

Believable8 Unbelievable1

I agree with you pinchy but you seem content with this?

There is so much that is wrong with the club from top to bottom. on the pitch Wenger's arrogance is personified by his teams performance.

Wenger has to prove he has learnt from his mistakes and start spending effectively on specific players for specific roles.

but he wont. and we will continue to struggle until he leaves.

Agree1 Disagree3

1 - totally agree - 4132 of sorts would fix his - rigid disciplined DM with 3 mids in the mold of Santi Jack and ben Arfa (two guys good enough to take men on out wide and an amazing acm) playing two strikers in...we have the players to pull this off. Said it time and time again.

2- disagree and agree - in the sense that if we signed e.g. Ben Arfa and sold e.g. Gervinho then we would be chosing between the Ox and Ben Arfa which is a nice choice. However I also feel players like Eisfeld bring far more to the team than almost any forward currently playing for us, he is destined to be truly world class and imo he shows up the first team for the embarrassment they have been for the majority of the season! How many of those guys have performed admirably consistently this season? None. I do not include Arteta in that though. Nobody else has played to anywhere near their potential at all this season bar Theo. Players like Eisfeld deserve way more than they're getting and to be honest the club should not keep ignoring talent such as he, Meade, Gnabry, Aneke etc.

3- agree, if we played with Arteta at home as we're on the offensive like Man U at OT but on the road we played with a solid DM instead who stayed back, this would help against teams whose home crowd rallies behind them against us and who like to sit back against the gunnners' onslaught then hit us on the counter.

4 - totally agree - our coaching is getting worse and worse imo, we have the players, they have the attributes, why are they so shaky and disorganised?

5- Agree - also I think the players have been lazy. They do not play with true grit hunger and passion often enough. It shouldn't take a half time bollocking.

6 - Attitude sucks.

7 - Agreed

Squid and Djourou are likely to leave this January according to direct quotes from AW.

That's about £100, 000 a week of wages cleared up, some of which should be contributed towards an improved contract for Theo!

Stating the obvious, but who knows with Arsenal..

A South East Gooner.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

They are both gonna be loaned out arent they? so maybe its a 60% relief on wages...but then they will come back....we still have denilson and bendtner on our books 2. same as miyachi (is he good enough, and if so, why are we buying a winger?) and frimpong (is he good enough, and if so, why are we buying a DM?) and joel cambell (is he good enough, and if so, will we buy a striker?)

Arsenal have got so many players....its way past time we got rid of a boat load of them.

I wish the transfer window was just one day. The majority of the month your just screaming " GET ON WITH IT!" Come on Wenger. Please do something that excites us. Ed, if Sagna was to leavez would you think Micah Ricards would be a good replacement? I think he'd certainly be willing to move as he's literaaly their 3rd choice RB and he grew up as an Arsenal fan.
Irish Gooner {Ed027's Note - i've dreamt of him coming here since he first burst on to scene, i like him a lot

Believable14 Unbelievable2

Me too Ed he's one of my favourite players. I cannot understand why he isn't angling for a move this Jan, it is quite remarkable. He's made 3 league appearances and one CL appearance all season and he is actually one of the best RBs in the league. He is unbelievably good, it's such a shame he's on the reserve team sheet, his England career is a non-starter too. IMO he's light-years better than Johnson yet he always plays (to be fair he's good in an England shirt).

In the summer I read some mad story about how R Madrid wanted him for £25m - wonder what we could get him for.

Metal Gooner {Ed027's Note - we'd have to pay over 15m for certain, he's had a few injuries recently, he's what you call a TANK

Agree5 Disagree0

He would be a good signing, but his wages would be an issue, he must be on 100k+ per week and we would never pay that to a fullback

I never understood why he never plays for England when he is clearly a great RB, and imo better than Johnson and Walker. Does he have a bad attitude or why is it that managers do not play him? I would love him to sign for us.

He would be ideal as a right back or emergency centre half, has power an pace but it comes down to wages are arsenal willing to pay to go to the next level.
GS

Agree2 Disagree0

I think the reason Richards doesn't play for England is he said he isn't interested in just being part of the squad, he wants to start if he's called up. Capello had a problem with that and it appears that has carried on with Woy Wodgson. Would love Arsenal to sign him though!

With Johan Djourou all but left for Hannover more news appeared that Sebastien Squillaci could leave this window (as you all know!). Although he said he will be leaving he did not specify as to whether it will be in January or June.
In my opinion our transfer business this month regarding a Centre Back will depend mainly on seeing if we can shift the French flop

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Well it's on the Arsenal site from Wenger's mouth that he could move, and I think 5 teams have been listed as potential destinations, all of whom are apparently interested, according to the player. Debatable but we know one or two were in the summer. Basically the only thing blocking a move is the player's refusal to take a wage cut - he's enjoyed his payday with us - which is why he didn't move in the summer. Sorry but if you want to play games and hardly make the bench then the logical thing is to take a wage cut and join a team who actually want you. He didn't do this which tells me he was happy to run down his contract. The only reason he might not move this jan like I say is refusing to take a wage cut and if this is the case then we should just buy out his contract and release him to get him off the roster allowing another player to come in.

Shows how everyone over-reacted after the draw to southampton, after chelski lost to qpr at home. We are going to drop some points we are not expected to. The most important thing is to get behind the team, because with a couple of additions we will have a really strong team.

btw i feel ramsey is started to find his feet again, been impressed with his last few performances.

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Posts like this p*** me off. At the end of the day Chelsea played woefully and still got loads of shots on goal and some corners - what did we do? We didn't even bother. We were a disgrace. If that Chelsea performance had been against our Southampton performance they would have won easily. As everyone keeps saying it's not THAT we drop points, although it sucks, it's HOW we drop points and when the team doesn't turn up and we throw away points when we have games in hand (wait, we've been ere before haven't we?) then it's perfectly normal for fans to rage about it. CONTEXT

Agree6 Disagree1

Ramsey is useless now and we were terrible against Southampton. That is why some fans criticised. Even Wenger had a go and that is rare. We now have to win against City and Chelsea to stay in contention whereas if we won against the saints we could have drawn with these teams. If we can get 4 points though I will be happy (can't see it happening)

I understand what Wenger is saying about keeping Walcott is a priority but I dont understand why it has to be decided before we can bring anyone in. Surely the Club can talk to more than 1 group of people at a time?

On a positive note wenger has confirmed that they are trying to shift Djourou and Squillaci.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

This is what I do not understand about Arsenal. At Spurs we all know it's the scouts who find out who we're scouting, they tell the manager, the manager tells Levy and he makes the signings.

At Arsenal the scouts tell Wenger about a player, he then says keep scouting them for the next 18 months, then he talks to the club, then he talks to the player, then he offers them something disgraceful like half the release clause, this wastes loads of time, other clubs come in, we lose out, and all the while Wenger is apparently trying to coach the team and wipe their butts. No wonder we SUCK in the market. It took Wenger about 6 months to sort the Podolski deal - what kind of fool takes so long?

Agree2 Disagree1

Because it is the way we do things, Walcott staying or leaving makes a huge difference to our strikers and wingers.

If Walcott stays and we play him up front we will not sign a striker if he goes we will.

If he stays but does not sign a new contract we will sign a winger.

If he stays and signs a new contract we will need a winger to replace him if he plays up front.

Like it or not, top players need to be played in their best positions and regularly. If we went out and spent 30m on a striker, then Theo signed that would leave Theo, Giroud and Newby fighting for one position - not healthy. If we played 2 up front 3 strikers is healthy as they can rotate.

So i havent seen much of Adrian Lopez...it sounds like hes been living in the very large shadow of Falcao.

14m seems a stretch for a benchwarmer.

Can somebody profile this player for me? I hear he can play across the front linebut so can Theo, Podolski and Gervinho (kind of)

Believable2 Unbelievable1

He's not a benchwarmer, he plays left wing in Atleti

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jan 2013 15:00:28
Gervinho couldnt play the xbox if he had the only controller. let alone 'kind of' being able to play along the dront 3

Agree1 Disagree0

I wouldn't say he is in the shadow of Faclao but certainly his form has meant Lopez can't play upfront. The main reason he has been stuck on the bench this season is over the contract dispute between him and the club who are unhappy with him. Last season he was an integral part of their Europa league winning squad scoring his fair share of goals.

Good afternoon Gunners!

Just a quick question to see what peoples opinions are regarding the transfers. I have heard reports that 4 new players will come in, in the form of;

Adrian Lopez
Wilfired Zaha (possible loanback)
Yann M'Vila
A CB

Would this be enough to get fourth!

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Yes it would - IF they come, IF they play, and IF they don't play out of position.

Agree1 Disagree0

That would get us 3rd, if Theo stays as well.

Citeh will implode, Spuds will fade as always and Chelski not as strong as they should be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal will sign 1 player maximum in the window, and it will be at the very end of it. 4th spot will be up for grabs right untill the end..too hard to say whether we have enough or not...spurs look strong atm. I believe everton will have a lapse soon.

Stockers8 and gunners4life

I have a very simple question for you both - I ask this NOT to start a war, if we were in the pub having a beer and a chat this questions would be delivered like any other question between mates so don't take it the wrong way:

If we do not sign the players we need this January, will you be behind the manager and his/the club's policies by the end of the window?

We all know we need signings. they should have been announced yesterday, and several playes should have been released, as this is what a top club does. We didn't release anyone, haven't sold anyone, and haven't brought anyone in. In fact, if we simply fail to get weaker, apparently this is cause for celebration, which in itself is an embarrassment.

So where will you stand come the end of the window if we don't buy clearly needed additions? Will you feel Arsene has done the right thing?

Metal Gooner

Believable5 Unbelievable3

(i know this question wasnt addressed to me) but we dont know what he will do he has to priritise the football on the pitch and working with what we have got, there is still 20+ days these things arent easy in jan so patience metal, i think we will see a max of two players but if there good editions in the right places it could be enough PATIENCE my fellow gooner

Yorkshire Gooner Joe :D

Agree1 Disagree0

Metal Gooner, to answer your earlier question (although it wasn't addressed to me specifically).

TBH I stopped being an optimistic supporter when we failed to get scott parker and he joined that little club down the road and again when clichy left, we should have pushed for baines. Again in the summer, Wanyama was the missing piece, but he was overlooked for three players that do not fit into our team properly.

As your question, if we do not make the necessary improvements in this window, I will be firmly behind Charlie and will want the manager out before the end of this season. HIS arrogance is personified by HIS team.

I think AW will step down (or up to board level!) at the end of this year regardless of what happens, he has become more of a businessman, and less of a football coach. I don't think AW ever thought he'd see the day when gooners sang "you don't know what you're doing" directly to him.

If we fail to get top 4 this season, I can't see anyway that he can stay affiliated with the club in the future. This mess is his mess and could set us back for a long time.

Hi Eds I just wondered if Afriyé Acquah was a realistic and worthy target to you. Don't know much about him but I have the feeling we'll see that kind of name rather than M'Vilas or Biglias...
Thanks

Wenger said: "First of all, what I have said is that we have to make sure the players who are here stay here. After that we look outside, so let's try and finalise the deal with Theo Walcott and after if we need something else we will look outside."

Hi Eds - happy new year!

Question - with Djourou to Hannover building momentum, where does this leave us on the defensive front. Surely we are in the market for a versitile defender. OR do we do this to reduce the wage bill for 6 months and keep Squelch as our 4th choice for 6 months; until the end of the loan period?

Would apprecite your thoughts.

just throwing this out there, what do we all think about Danny Graham of Swansea hes looking for assurances of his future, he night be available and fits the new English lineup we seem to be aiming at

Bryan

Believable2 Unbelievable18

Ask yourself this...would Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, Juve, Man Utd, City or Chelsea attempt to sign Danny Graham?

There lies your answer mate I'm afraid....

Good player but not Arsenal quality for the club we are and need to aspire to get to again!

Boisey

Agree6 Disagree0

Ive caught it and am throwing it back.........not a player i would welcome, andhow are we aiming for an English line up by signing Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla??

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

What an awful suggestion, he doesn't even start for Swansea!

Agree4 Disagree0

Poor mans Giroud

Detroit Gooner

Agree4 Disagree0

Just because we're going for a British look, it doesn't mean we have to bye average players

Agree4 Disagree0

It's an interesting suggestion - simply because we're all crying out for these world class signings but in all honesty we are lacking fighters more than quality. We are lacking quality, but we lack fighters. Danny Graham is one of those no-nonsense players who never gives up, he has a good shot, good head, and great movement. He isn't a big name or some Spanish wizard but he s one of those guys who does not give up til the game is over, doesn't matter if he's 4-0 down or 3-0 up, he doesn't stop playing, and if he can nick a goal he will do what he can to see it happen.

When you look at some of the turd we produce it's actually very sad to realise that players like Graham, unbelievably, would improve us.

As always though, due to our formation there is simply no room for him. All the best teams play some sort of variation where they have two strikers in the middle. We are the only team that doesn't. So unless we do this, we'll always have Pod out wide, and we won't know who to play in the middle alongside Walcott or if he should play on his own, which, considering he doesn't do headers, is a no go.

If our boys had half the testicles that the swansea players or norwich players have for example, we'd be higher, and until that happens, players like Graham will continue to appear to be an improvement on what we've got.

I have never seen so many shocking performances, be it halves or entire games, in one season in my life - and we're halfway through and I'm talking about ONE team. It is embarrassing. We are the only team in the league who looks like it simply cannot be arsed to play. It really makes me sad. There's no closing, no pressing, no movement off the ball when we're defending and no movement off the ball when we're in possession. It takes a half time bollocking to get anything out of the players.

I just dream of the days when people are saying things like 'Cavani? Would he really be an improvement on what we've got?' as opposed to 'Bent/Graham/Shawcross - would he?'

Agree3 Disagree1

Please no. Sorry mate but he isn't good enough.

Nick.

Agree3 Disagree0

Why do people just throw these names in as possible purchases ? Today, Wenger confirmed "that his top priority is to sort out the Walcott situation ". We know what that means :- Don't hold out much hope for any new signings. It's the same old story. Fans are mugs, they'll put up with anything. Oh , and by the way Diaby is getting better. Should be fit by April !

Agree3 Disagree1

Thanks well that cleared that up, it was only a thought, I just feel any decent striker should be able to score with the chances we create most of the time, perhaps not a big name signing but way better than what we seem to have in reserve

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jan 2013 00:47:22
i think our exceptional 'new' signings will be a new contract for walcott and a return from injury of diaby(who will no doubt be injured by february)
if there is a blue moon and the reality of our dire position sets into our manager and boards head could you please sell the deadwood and break the bank and buy -

sneidjer - if all accounts are true he could go for peanuts at 7-8 million even with his high wages of 200k a week it is a bargain. thats about 10 million a year, even if he stays for 3 years thats 37 million layout over 3 years for a world class player, the revenue and quality he will bring in will more or less compensate for that.

strong defensive mid - we seriously need someone with a presence that has speed and mobility and the strength to knock the opponents out of their rythmn. be it mvilla capoue wanayma biligia or whoever someone who will kick as*. if not give coquelin and frimpo a chance rather than letting them rot away on loan and on the bench.

a defender who can play along the back line, lescott would be good he has the experience of the premiership and can cover left back, we also need a solid right sided defender who can challenge sagna (if he doesnt leave) and allow jenko to mature with time rather than being rushed in.

a solid experienced keeper to keep szecsney on his toes, because he does get complacent at times.

if possible bring joel campbell back from loan and see if he can cut it in the premiership and add potency upfront (not bidding for ba could comeback and haunt wenger) why doesnt he make a cheeky bid for wellbeck, we will then see if fergie rolls over like wenger did for rvp.

and invest in future stars like luke shaw, zaha and even luke young

my team for 2013

......., szecs
r/b merti verm gibbs
.......defensive mid
... sneidjer wilshere
walcott giroud cazorla

subs from
kosci arteta ox podolski rosicky coquelin jenko zaha shaw lescott (gk)young frimpo ramsey gnabry eisfeld campbell

it is strong in depth and this will allow for the youngsters to progress and learn from the best. it is only my opinion but it cant be worse than what we have now.
just think the players we missed out on and waited too long before others muscled in and the players we let go - fabregas clichy rvp nasri adebayor flamini vertonghen lloris hazard mata parker ba jones smallings to name but a few, quality players who could have made a difference. mr wenger learn from past mistakes and swallow your pride before it becomes terminal. spend the cash!

GS

Believable9 Unbelievable10

NO arguement that this looks like a strong starting XI (sagna is a great RB, who has had zero rest after a very long injury, Jenko should have played the last match...)

That said, even if we got Welsey for 10mln, his attitude seems all wrong and he would be very disruptive.

Even your line-upo is evidence of that... Cazorla has been one of the best AMs in the league, why should he be moved? But if Snjieder came in, I am sure he would DEMAND to play in the center.

Equally, we shouldn't pay 200k for ANYONE.

Billybob

Agree8 Disagree3

By all accounts Snieder is in poor form and poor spirits. Not the player he was.

Agree3 Disagree1

Not every player needs to be on 200k, if that is the case be happy finishing 4th and having your dreams shattered by pathetic performances by underachieving players, in an ideal world i wouldnt want to spend 200k on a player, but we always go for second best.. just once can we go out and buy an acclaimed player that will get your backside of the seat and give the team the belief to achieve their potential, you may not agree that sneidjer is the man but we need someone to give us momentum and more importantly we need to change our tactics and coaching styles. we need to break the mould of arsenal persona on the football front. we have become a laughing stock, lesser teams come here expecting 3 points, we bow down and let other teams dictate our play, our heads go down and there isnt enough quality or bravery from the team to lift us. we lose or draw against a team where we should guarantee ourselves 3 points after a big win which just gives us a false sense of security and papers over the cracks that are alot more deep lying than most fans think. even fergie is wengers mate and doesnt see him as a threat and sticks up for him...thats when you know there is something wrong. i want it to be like in the old days wenger and fergie going at it till the last game of the season fighting for honours.
this has been coming for a long time and most fans that i talk to agree. we just seem to roll over and let teams tickle our belly, our manager is happy finishing 4th,
look, we all want the best for arsenal and i dont want to say its all doom and gloom but we need to regain our winning mentality that made us the benchmark in the premiership.

Not only would buying Fellaini and Baines increase the quality of the squad, but it would also knock Everton out of the race for fourth. I'd also raid Newcastle with a bid for Cheick Tiote, the type of solid player we're craving in the midfield. As for the theory that we wouldn't have enough money, that's a myth, and unless we spend big money we're not gonna get anywhere.

arsenal to sign ex SFL1 winger Robert Barr after recently impressing scouts whilst playing at East Fife. Meanwhile a bid for Celtic's Wanyama is due to be confirmed later this week

Believable0 Unbelievable4

How many converted though? and it depends on whats being classed as goal scoring opportunity ? if youve got Messi upfront then a goal kick or corner to the opposition is a goal scoring opportunity but if you have Bendtner on the penalty spot with the keeper to beat thats not necessarily a goal scoring opportunity.
We are better off without players that dont want to be at the club, fact and Song wouldnt be ahead of Arteta, Jack or Santi anyway, and in Aarons case better off with some that do.

Where is the leadership in this Arsenal team? Where is the physical and mental steel? Where is the desire? I just don't see it. When the going gets tough - Arsenal lose. There has been a distinct lack of attitude and physicality about Arsenal for years now. The players that we show interest in now tend to be technically good - but do nothing to address the major short comings above. I miss the confidence and swagger of old. I miss believing we had a chance against the top teams.

Running the risk of sounding like C. Charlie here, but I have never heard so many pundits and commentators say on SEPARATE occassions so far this season "this is the worst Arsenal performance I have ever watched since Wenger took over". Seriously, every game we have failed to win we have been slaughtered for the performance - there have been no unlucky draws or losses, in fact their have been more lucky wins.

Twitching 'Arry Redknapp has consistently slated us this year and has us well out of the top 4, this has become a crucial period in Arsenal modern history now where we need to prove him and all the others wrong.

I really hope AW finds the catalyst for the energetic, silky, quality football we are known for very soon.

A youngster or two (eg Eisfeld, Gnabry) need to get a couple of prem starts to add the unknown to our play, they would lift crowd excitement and the expectations of the lacklustre senior players, the same way the ox does when he gets a chance. our attacking players need to be given freedom but our rigid tactics hold them all back.

No more isolated strikers - play with two forwards pressing their defenders all the time, Pod or Giroud up front with Theo.

A beast of DM has to come in to free up Arteta, and to give him and Jack a rest when needed.

At the moment the best transfer Arsenal are looking forward to is Bale leaving totts, then the noisy prentenders will go backwards again.
