Looking at the fixtures I’d say 3rd place is very much up for grabs between 4 teams, we most certainly must avoid defeat next Sunday .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Mar 2019 20:45:57
A win would be brilliant a draw would most certainly keep us in the race a loss would cement our rating as outsiders of 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 22:02:19
Lots of twists and turns to come over the next couple of months, we have a friendly run in now compared to the other three.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 08:08:16
I can only find 8 games left for us, is there one to be that is yet to be arranged or something?
Apart from the United games the away games look tough to me, apparently we are the only premier league team not to keep an away clean sheet all season so hopefully that's something that will improve during the run in.

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Mar 2019 10:07:10
Wolves away Everton away Burnley away are all hard games.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 10:55:46
Sorry to disagree but like Stephen says, we have plenty of games that we will make hard work of.

We give chances away to the worst teams not just the best.

I will be amazed if we make top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 11:08:44
Watford and Leicester away too Stephen, they are tough games. Wolves must be the missing fixture in can't find.
You'd expect us to win our home games but all the away games will be difficult in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 11:29:04
When I said you'd expect us to win the home games I meant after Sunday of course:-)
Newcastle Palace Brighton would be big set backs to drop points in at home, although not forgetting Palace did win at City.
United and all the away games will be tough and extremely difficult to predict in my opinion.
I still make us 4th favourites to make top 4 of Spurs United Chelsea and ourselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 12:04:27
We all have tough games but the others have still to play games against each other and top six twice after next week. Nothing is a given. Its still wide open. i'm not convinced with toots and chelski and utd, while on a great run, got a big helping hand from the officials and have a mounting injury list. We all have problems. Even Liverpool look like they are treading water now. Its all exciting.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 12:15:39
Stoner - you are right and even in the Dours game that we were clearly the better side, our defence looked porous to a simple cross or ball over the top. No game is easy with that defence BUT on a positive note - we are talking about a top 4 finish again! 😉.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 12:20:58
Steve did you and SY swap glasses over the summer :-)
Everything to play for of course and top 4 and champions league football next season would be brilliant but 6th place wouldn't be terrible as long as we are obviously better next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 12:26:47
We going to win the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 12:26:41
Sy, i can tell we are all getting excited. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 15:54:28
Gunner, i'm just on the bus enjoying the ride. I promised myself however bumpy it gets, i'm chilling as much as i can this season. But next season, that's another kettle of fish.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:07:15
Fair enough Steve mate, I'd planned to do that too mate but Dicks Arsene impressions got to me in the end :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:17:49
Now that's where you and i see it different, i think he is nothing like arsene. Arsene couldn't do his zip up.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:33:35
If we can avoid defeat against Man U, we will be in a position to challenge for the top four, particularly as the toot are not playing well and their recent results are poor. In all likelihood they will play at least 3 more Champions League matches, which will hinder their chances. Chelsea are struggling under Sarri and have a more difficult run in. Man U have picked up recently, in order to finish above them we really need to beat them on Sunday, which will be a tall order.
As only 4 of our remaining matches are at home, we will need to improve our away form considerably. Such a shame that poor refereeing costs us against the toot.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 18:27:11
Stoner, you are so negative

I told you top 4 and the Europa league are coming our way

I'm Emery I trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - Oh, so you're Emery are you.

04 Mar 2019 18:51:00
Malaga,

I don’t care about the players names but Emery and his coaching staff are no better at organising a defence than Wenger and he didn’t have Torriera.

You can trust him all you like but he’s pony and trap mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 20:34:56
True Steve Dick does do a zip up beautifully where Arsene Just wasn't at the races in the zip department :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 20:36:25
What’s your point 62?

Stoner I don’t disagree with you but I am happy we can at least can talk top 4 but I haven’t seen anything to believe he is the man to turn us into something special

Good to see Steve state he turns the heat up next season

In the grand scheme of things - one season won’t do any harm

Question - why hasn’t Emery shaken up the defensive coaches.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 20:52:39
Hi SY mate
I just think it's funny that this time last year Steve like me was saying Arsene in fans like yourself were wearing rose colored glasses and couldn't see Arsene failings now Steve seems to have his own set of Emery specs :-)
It just struck me as funny how you'd both swapped places, just a silly observation. really mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 21:47:47
Sy, like i said, i'm happy with what i'm seeing thus far. i'm not counting us out of top four or EL just yet. Like you say, we are in the mix. I like a lot of what he is doing and grinning and bearing what i don't like.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 18:52:13
Ed033, you need to excuse mala. He's the only bloke I know that walks about with a potted plant so he can quickly replenish the oxygen he consumes.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 22:02:12
Gunner, when you get yo know me, you will realise, i give people time to do things but when i decide that that's it, then that's it. I don't like changing my mind with the wind, i like to give things time, then stick the boot in! Although, i never gave xhaka any time but i haven't changed my mind either. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 22:58:54
Sounds perfectly reasonable rational and fair to me Steve:-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 23:12:48
Steve and you opened my eyes and I won’t be weak again

👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 05:12:01
Thats the spirit Sy, come over to the happy side of life, its enpowering. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 10:04:10
If arsenal can defend like we did against spurs then it is an improvement when he gets the team he wants then I will judge emery I like him have for a long time and we are better on pints than last year so it is an improvement too 4 will be hard to get but would be amazing to be back in champs league.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 15:03:40
Meant points.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 20:50:05
Saying in emery we trust is laughable when he’s just as bad as Wenger the last few years as stoner said you can say it all you want.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 16:09:08
Weathers not very nice so i had to stoop low and watch the fulham game. Got to say chambers playing holding mid looks sound. Energetic, controlled, good on the ball and nothing really got past him. Whether he is good enough for us is another question but if we keep him, he would make at least a sound squad player. If we sold him, we shouldn't let him go cheap either. With bielik doing well at Charlton and chambers looking good, it at least gives us some options.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

03 Mar 2019 16:38:00
Might be worth considering him as the middle CB of 3 at the back if he looks good on the ball energetic controlled, as the middle CB he could be part of the defence when we defend but move into the DM position when we attack freeing up the midfield to go forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 17:07:14
Agree gunner, he may well be able to play CB in a 2 or a 3. He looked unflustered and comfortable shielding the defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 18:24:53
My favourite formation is 3 4 1 2 and if you have the right man for the job I like the middle CB to be a sweeper in the Franz Beckenbauer mould (obviously not of his quality necessarily) who come into the midfield as well as defend.
David Luis has this in his locker where he's a decent CB and Mf I feel he would stand out if given this role consistently.
I'm not sure if Calum is capable but if he is it would be brilliant because you get the benefits of both in having a 3rd CB and a DM in one player.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Mar 2019 19:31:32
My favourite to - 3 4. 1 2

Mavropanos Papa Holding

Bellerin. CDM Torriera Kola

Ozil

Laca and PEA

Not sure why we haven’t tried this - CDM is Xhaka for now but Dacoure would work just fine.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Mar 2019 19:57:41
If Chambers can play that role SY then you could have Torreira and Guendouzi in the Middle witness Torreira and Chambers sharing the DM role depending on whether we were attacking or defending.
If we were in or around the opposition box then Chambers could be our first line defence sat between the halfway line and opposition box.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 10:20:08
Chambers is part of a team getting relegated for the second time. He is average in the extreme and there is no way he should return to the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 11:58:37
Robbie you can’t blame one player for a team failing. Last year he was injured most of the season when he was available they did a lot better defensively, and now fulham ain’t scoring enough but he’s one of thier best players.
I think Chambers next to Torreria would make us more solid at the back, for sure I rate him higher than Xhaka.
However, this might be the disparation talking to get an upgrade on Xhaka lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 12:10:06
Robbie, chambers can't be individually held responsible for fulhams demise. You have to look at his progress as an individual. Wether we sell him or keep him, his stock has gone up, he's getting better and better. Time will tell what will happen to him but he is a totally different animal to the one we had. We may sell or we may keep, either way we have an improved asset.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 13:43:42
I don't thinks it's actually Chambers RG is upset with here :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 13:52:48
Agree Steve. Thought Chambers has shown on a few occasions that he can contribute. If he were still at the club he'd have gotten some games at CB too with Holding out. Good cover for Torreira with Elneny out the door.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 14:38:07
I just don't rate Chambers and fail to understand what anyone sees in him. Clearly Emery, like myself, preferred Holding, hence he allowed Chambers to be loaned out. I cannot see him returning and believe he will be sold this summer, assuming a club wishes to buy him. As a rule of thumb, when signing a player, you have to ask whether any of the serious top four contenders would sign a particular player, and in Chambers case none of them would want him, which speaks for itself. There were comments to the effect that it isn't his fault that the two clubs he has been loaned out to look likely to be relegated, in Middesborough's case they were actually relegated. Hence, he ends up at clubs that suffer relegation down to the Championship, to which he would be better suited.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:02:02
Yes ok robbie, i don't get your logic but like i say, i'm sure he will be judged on his performance by our scouts and not fulhams performance. Whatever, he is a better asset to this club now, than he was before he went to Fulham.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:07:32
I was going to write this in my previous post robbie but i thought that i had better check my memory. Roy Keane was relegated with forest before he went to united. Obviously SAF didn't look at the team around him, just the player. i'm sure we will do the same. He may be sold but we should get a decent fee for him now, more than last summer at least.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:09:54
Wire, he is getting regular games and that has to be better for him, going forward. He isn't letting anyone down, that's for sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:20:51
In that case we were extremely lucky to beat Liverpool City Spurs and United to signing Lich last summer RG :-) how did we manage to convince Liverpool and Chelsea too spend all that money on goalkeepers when they all wanted Leno instead :-)
Sorry mate but that's nonsense, if we only signed players who would get into the top 4 clubs side wed be playing with 5 players most weeks if we were lucky.
Of last summers signings Torreira is the only player who would get close to getting a game at Liverpool Spurs United or City so its ridiculous to gage Chambers against top Club players but not gage other players the same way because it suits your personal feelings about Chambers or maybe it's not Chambers your really angry with at all deep down :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 16:28:02
Steve, we just have to beg to differ, which doesn't alter the fact that I remain unimpressed by Chambers and would prefer that we sell him and purchase a better player. Roy Keane may have been relegated with Forest, but Man U bought him. Chambers was relegated with Boro and now looks likely to suffer the same fate with Fulham, will Man U buy him? Not a chance, nor will Liverpool, Man City or Chelsea. Hopefully the toot will take him on loan and suffer the same fate as Boro and Fulham!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 17:23:00
Robbie its not about differing, its about whether we can get good money for an improved chambers or he becomes part of the squad. It will be one or the other.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 17:51:45
I don't see Chambers exactly slotting into the first team next season, but then again based on his current form he is a better back-up to Torriera or Xhaka in the DM role than Elneny currently is, and he ticks the home player box, so I can see us keeping him next season and cashing in on Elneny instead.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 20:39:57
Speaking of Elneny, I was thinking today What exactly does Xhaka do that Elneny doesn't do? Seriously.
Both hit an occasional decent long range pass well but Elneny tackles better in my opinion, I'm just wondering apart from 30 million what is the difference between the two?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 21:07:02
I think xhaka, gunner, takes longer to do his hair than al ninny. Other than that, they are both about as useful.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 05:26:43
I agree that Elneny has to depart, but do not agree that Chambers is worth keeping when he returns because he is arguably better than Elneny and is homegrown. As cover for Torreira and Xhaka, we also have Maitland-Niles and Willock, two young and hopefully improving homegrown players. If we sell Elneny for 8-10m and Chambers for £10-15m, we have £18-25m to spend on one player which would in my opinion be a far better option than keeping Chambers. Emery clearly didn't rate Chambers as he sent him out on loan, which will be further confirmed if we sell him this summer. Chambers failed to convince as a RB, as a CB and now as a DM, he simply isn't good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 20:48:10
Yes you are right robbie, i bet fergie didn't rate beckham when he sent him to preston. Spuds obviously didn't rate kane and ali, when they sent them out to lower division teams. We can't rate nelson or bielik either. You only send rubbish players out on loan. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 21:00:08
Just for the record about Emery not rating chambers, he signed a new four year contract in july, before he went to Fulham. At least a bit of foresight from us, with him doing so well. Whatever happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 13:41:52
Welsh, the Subaru is like a fine, it gets better with age mate. The only problem is the blower inside the car is not working, as the raver is having lots of passion im having to use my karcher window cleaner to get the steam off the windows😎.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed033's Note - the raver probably receives lots of fines. Maybe as many as the raver has had fine wines. :)

04 Mar 2019 17:53:39
If the Karcher is the only sucking action going on in the Subaru Raver you must surely be bitterly dissapointed?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 12:45:46
Probably get some stick for this but Ramsey showed me yesterday why he shouldn’t be going, we have no other midfielder who can run 50 odd yards, round the keeper and tap it into the net .

Believable2 Unbelievable0

03 Mar 2019 12:59:40
No, BG can't argue with that and i said a few weeks ago, that ramseys attitude has been brilliant. But for me ramsey hasn't been reliable enough on a consistent basis due to his unavailability. I think its time for ramsey and arsenal to seek new challenges. Good luck to him and heres to us getting a great replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 15:08:47
Unquestionably Aaron can be an 9/ 10 player when he's on form and feels like it but there have been far too many games when he's been 4/ 10 when available.
150k a week maybe think about keeping him 350 to 400k a week, tata Aaron and best of luck at Juve.
Personally I'd rather Guendouzi week in week out over a season than Aaron.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 13:54:35
Agree BG but at the same time I can see why he's going. 300k a week at Juve, good luck to the lad. Deserves a shot at a big title, whether Serie A or CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2019 17:47:15
Always liked him, and to see him give 100% when he really should be protecting himself for his new contract sums him up. Does he have the occasional absolute stinker of a game, yes. Do you seem him having the stinker, double yes, which is weirdly why i like him, as unlike other players i can think of who just hide (Mr Walcott anybody) , Ramsey never hides whether going good or bad. Also, he must have a really good appearance to goal ratio at Wembley?

Tough game today lads but we were lucky to get a draw imo, I think both clubs are 3 top players away from challenging the likes of city and Liverpool next season, you lot have definitely improved under emery and will be up there next season if recruit well in the summer, as for spurs I think poch has taken us far as he can and we will struggle for the top 4.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

03 Mar 2019 00:52:26
Hi Raver, top bloke, i have to say the spuds we're very lucky and it seems to be hard work for you at the moment but all the same, its hard to call top 4 you are 3 rd at the moment and it seems to be going pete tong. That lucky draw could be the turning point but it could be just a sticking plaster. i'm hopefull for next season and look forward to see who we get in. This season i'm relaxed, whatever. I think.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 08:21:01
Respect to you Raver
I think we sneaked it. i think mopo is loosing his mind, he refuses to talk about the penalty, i was offside. Against Burnley that was all he talked about, (refs errors) .
I think you will sneak top 4,with Chelsea.
As a big Lord Wenger fan, I’m pleased with Dick, but a little baffled with some of his team selections.
But what a respectable interview after the game, didn’t moan about the refs.
Mopo is a manager under pressure
Hows the old Subaru still going.

Gunner, i'm too thick to work things like that out, capital letters and no capital letters, gooners and gunners, its all the same to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Mar 2019 12:26:56
To be fair spurs looked like arsenal of a few years back, they had most of the possession and no cutting edge and were getting hit on the counter. Before the game I would have been silently happy with the draw but felt slightly upset at not getting the three points would have been more annoyed if we never got the pen then felt more robbed but we had a chance to put it right and missed the pen so we can’t moan to hard.
