Seem to remember a few people suggesting we should buy Richards from man city. After last nights performance I'm glad we didn't - he looks overweight, slow and as mad as a hatter! Also thought Gael Clichy had a bit of a shocker as well.
will settle happily for Gibbs, Sagna with Jenks and Vermaelen backing them up.

That would be me Exiled, I said Richards would be a great signing and still think he would be.
I didn't see him last night so can't comment on the game or his performance but if its that one game that's putting you off then who would rate Kos two games in this season?
As for his weight! Don't worry about Micah, he can move when he has to. If would can get him we should SNATCH him

Agree0 Disagree0

Nasty looked overweight too

question to all gooner on this site: do you think we still need bender after what flamini shown us?before this, many of us unhappy because wenger doesn't buy wanyama and gustavo, instead he sign flamini for free. but now, flamini show to us that he is way better than wanyama (dont know about gustavo since I yet to watch him this season). for me, we don't need bender.we have arteta who can play as flamini's backup. what we need is cb and striker. your though?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Master stroke by Sir Arsene if you ask me mate, always thought he was a good free but now very pleased not to have anyone else in his place. The boss is back to his best and it now turns out he really does know a lot more and a lot better than me :-) had my doubts for a while though I must admit

While I do agree with you and arteta and flamini are fantastic players I think we still have to remember that arteta is the wrong side of 30 and flamini is 29 so bender or his equivalent is definitely needed, maybe as soon as next summer but we can't get complacent and leave it to chance that the two can still do the job in a year or twos time, anyway they are just my two cents weather people agree or not. {Ed030's Note - Gundogan would be the ideal signing for Arsenal imo, He is very strong but brilliant with the ball. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Flamini is the boss, my vote for captain

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a brilliant signin on a free. knows how we play, and probly most of the backroom staff. and he's a WINNER. all that talk of gustavo when he was meant to be signin', weren'y he meant to be on mad wages? 110-150 or summin? and he ain't nearly as vocal as flamini on the pitch. he's been pretty quiet for wolfsburg too. goooooooood job arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we had to pay 30 mil for someone who might be doing what Flamini is doing for us would we have Ozil still?
Things are falling into place nicely me thinks

Agree0 Disagree0

Would definately get Bender. Don't get me wrong, it's not the first place I think needs strengthening, on the contrary it's one of the last, but he is a class player and would improve us. Artetas the wrong side of 30 and while hesvstill a good player hell need replacing eventually. Bender is better and younger.

1. How about my "Flamini playing a Vieira type role w Vieira type importance on this team" comment a couple weeks ago

Guy will be the glue on this team, whether starting or as a sub, he is the one who got away. Now we see what we were missing

2. Kieran Gibbs

Take a bow son

Should be England LB, as good as any LB in Europe right now on form. No joke

Let's take the points this weekend and stay healthy during the break

Coyfg!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't name many left backs better than Gibbs at the moment. Alaba is the only one of the top if my head.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you should just leave this flamini vieira deabate. you ballsed it up big time, last time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vieira was not as good as those around him, who he played with (Pires, God, Henry)

Neither is Flamini (Ozil, Santi)

Both were/are vital to us winning matches

I was right, people can eat crow

just a quick observation guys. I was watching the highlights of the napoli game on the afc website, and after girouds goal take a look at flamini's reaction.thats what we have missed.
signing of the season!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Flamini was everywhere last night, directing things, identifying passing options for the man on the ball, moving into space to give himself as an option. Awesome signing.

He's French, He's good, He lives in Hadley Wood (well he did until he sold his gaff to Bacary Sagna, not sure where he lives atm), Flamini, Flamini.

Ed do you believe our initial targets at the beginning of the season have changed due to the way in which we have started the season combined with the inconsistencies of other teams such as both the Manchester clubs?

As we have had a fantastic start to the season and if we can sustain a title challenge up until Christmas do you think we will sign big in the January transfer market? I understand the January transfer window is a tough time to buy due to cup restrictions etc, but would Wenger for instance maybe attempt to bring in some cup tied Champions League players to go all out for the premier league which we have been craving for years?

At this moment I think we have a top group of players but my main concern like many others is up front as Giroud is our only out and out striker. Would Benteke be a viable option? Strong, quick, young, proven goalscorer and would be eligible to play in Europe?

Lets hope this can be our season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Podolski is really a striker too. I'd take Benteke though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Bendtner will surprise us all when he gets a chance in his favourite position, after all it is his last chance to show anybody who might be interested in him.
We all know he can do it if he wants.

Non Arsenal related, but was quite impressed with the game yesterday.

Having watched the City V bayern game, it was shocking to see how advanced the germans were.

the defense looked steady, the wingbacks disciplined, the GK always aware of any threats, the midfield always working in packs, retain the ball, pass it around in a small space like they are having a kick about, find an outlet ( most likely a winger aka robben/ ribery) and two players always run into the penalty box while robben or ribery make their runs, two remain outside the box to take those rebound shots (kroos, schweini), while 4 players sit back to counter any counter attacks.

The problem pellegrini had besides Joe hart having a bad game, was playing two strikers in a game where the midfield was dominated by these technical geniuses.

the only positive review I can have in regards to Arsenal, is that we not only have the technical players to match them in the middle with Caz, and Ozil but we have two players in the mould of ramsey, wilshere, ox who offer an outlet like no other player in the bayern squad can a direct threat running into their defense.

while I am not delusional to think we are better than them, they were a vastly superior side, I think we can beat them, its just the way wenger sets the team up. 4-5-1 to defend and 3-4-3 to attack.

For a start the germans have a better GK.

i don't necessarily think their defenders are better than what we have, however we lacked cohesion, which surprisingly we have had since we beat them.

they have far superior holding midfielders in Schweini and martinez.

but in regards of Ozil, caz, wilshere, rambo, ox, walcott.

i think we can match the likes of Kroos, ribery, robben, gotze, thiago, muller

the likes of mandzukic and giroud are very similar in style and ethic, both run their lungs out.

The big difference, even with a new manager, an extremely good new manager, is that group of players have been doing it for a few years now and added quality in the summer.

They are up there as the team to beat, we will be tested against Chelsea, City and Liverpool etc before we hopefully get to face them in the UCL. We'll have a better idea of where we're at by them.

We are without doubt improving every game and by Nov 10th should have everyone fit.

At that point you could have the 11 players that started against Napoli with a bench to pick from of these, Cazorla, Chamberlain, Vermaelen, Monreal, Gnabry, Walcott, Jenkinson, Wilshere and Podolski.

It makes you wonder what they would have done to the other Manchester club right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

We beat Bayern in Munich!

Agree0 Disagree0

We beat barcelona as well, does not make us better than either one Robbie.

to be the best in europe we have to win that trophy. and this year the road leads via Bayern.

but as gunner said. we have to beat the local rivals and improve, have a choice of options off the bench and push for a title. still many games to play but, you can't tell me there is a reason we can't be optimistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are the team to beat no question, as for us beating them last year, mmmmmm mute point that the tie was over before the game we won. OK we came back and gave them a fright much as we did the year before after a 1st leg thrashing. Just being honest.

But that was then I would love to have another crack this season at them, we are a different proposition this year and Arsene is back to his best with Gnome safely guarded

For the first time in a long long while. I have friends who are Manchester United fans saying that they fear their matchup with us. me? I am really looking forward to it.

Hi Ed just wondering how many games is it a player has to play to qualify to PL medal, is it 14? Just thinking if we could work it so Diaby got one after all his bad luck with injury :-) {Ed044's Note - 10 mate. You think that Diaby will be transferred in January to another EPL side?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Need to win it first! Truthfully with the fixtures we've had we should be top now as we've had by far the easiest games out of the big teams. Its not like we've been tearing every team up either, so title talk is very premature. What makes us look better is the problems Man United and Man City have had.

What has really impressed me is our performances in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice reply Ed :-) that made me chuckle, in fact can't stop smiling as I type. Quality reply that. :-) :-) :-) I don't know how to spell that French word they use in fencing for game to you, Tusa or something but if I could It would be very apt

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, I believe the word you are looking for is "touche"

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks DG mate, that's the one.

Ed out witted me good and proper and made me :-) after a tough day at the office yesterday, reading his reply was the perfect pick me up and still making me smile thinking about it now.
