I have to say watching the city game that augero is the best player in this country since Thierry. All round great player and head and shoulders the best in this league. Also if city don't have any bad injurys they will walk it this year by sheer weight of goals alone. First time I've seen silva and de bryune together, looks very slick not doing a derby but it was a hands together of a second half performance .

Now for second place us or United. A very interesting game United now have an identity under LVG and have got a good base to kick on but I feel both teams at their best we a currently the better team but we need to make the most of what looked so good at the end of last season. This for me is a season we could put a good challenge in and tomorrow is a good opportunity for us to get that belief that we got after the city game last year.

I also have to say that the league this year is top quality most of the teams in this league this year are very good for the first time I could name 10 away games and 7/8 home games that are very tough games

When you say the league is quality this year, I agree in terms of depth. The likes of Everton, Palace etc. much improved. But the top teams look worse than ever. Now that is going to make for a very open league. As for Augero being the best since Henry? Really mate? Amazing player on his day. But Ronaldo was better than both of them, and we there may never be a better player than him to play in our league. Suarez for me is better than Augero, certainly over the course of a season

City look awesome, but they blow hot and cold too much.

In Aguero they have a superstar striker, but he is always a thigh strain away from a lenghty lay off.

Utd scare me. Rooney, Martial and Depay are looking good, throw Mata in the mix and they look very good going forward.

Hate to be pessimistic, but can't see us getting more than a draw tomorrow.

Ubi ronaldo is in the top all time ever world wide list agreed. But he got in that list since been at Madrid! He was good at United but became great at Madrid. Yes he is better than the both of them but in EPL history he comes behind a few more players than that. Suarez also great but hasn't had season after season like augero in the EPL and that's what I said. Good try though ubi

United dags play well but how they play is totally dependent on the quality of the team they are playing. Where as we are inconsistent United are consistently average this season

To say the league is strong this year is mind boggling. The best team in the league are not a force in Europe, chelski are not a force in europe, man u are not a force in europe and we definitely arent. English teams struggled last year and are struggling this. You say you think we are better than man u, i wonder how you come to that opinion so early. The league is competitive, but as far as quality, its not that good. What do you base your opinions on, i'm baffled.

Steve I'm on about in house and I'm also talking about the teams around us and how the quality from the so called lower teams has vastly improved. Forget Europe I'm on about our breed and butter and that there are more teams to make like difficult. And if baffling is anything like waffling get some golden syrup in Steve. A sweet taste on your lips might do you the world of good 😃

Rooney because he always does, Martial simply because Arsene by his own admission didn't bother asking about him and Matta because he could and should with a bit of determined effort from us pre signing for Chelsea been a gooner will probably be the stand out ones who hurt us tomorrow :-)
Hoping to get lots and lots of stick tomorrow night after we absolutely tear utd apart but I'd snatch CTR hand off at for a draw right now :-(

Growbun,

Early days but they are top of the league and seem to be 'clicking' nicely.

A lot of people questioned Martial's huge price tag, but it makes no difference if he is putting the ball in the back of the net. Mertesacker, even on his mobility scooter will not keep up with him.

Rooney is Rooney and he loves playing against us.

Depay has shown flashes of brilliance, albeit against lesser teams in CL, but on his day, is a handful.

On paper, player for player, we are better, but will we show up against a top team or will we bottle it as usual?

And the way our home form is panning out, I would rather the game was at OT.

Grow, not sure what you are getting at but you said the league is stronger, it aint, but it may be more competitive. Big difference.

04 Oct 2015 00:29:05
One thing we do agree on is man united being average. If we beat them, if, then we have beat an average team. If we draw or loose at home, what does that make us.

04 Oct 2015 00:38:18
Steve, Steve ok more competitive I'm looking from the eyes of an Arsenal fan and maybe that's a better way to call it! You know where I'm coming from stop been so precious. And at our best we are better than United but that won't be for long because they have sank very low but come back very quickly. They have a 2/3 rebuild and we are still rebuilding 11 years on

Im sorry grow how can you say we are better than some team who we don't usually win against and are behind them today in the league and we have lost more games this season. i'm sorry but i don't get your logic, eccept have it is a biased opinion, not a logical one.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2015 07:26:18
We have a better squad than them. What can be more logical than that?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Oct 2015 10:44:03
Sorry browgun you usually talk some sense but your point here is a bit flaky.....where's the banter police when you actually need them? 😊

I think you may have forgotten Ronaldo's last 2 seasons at united btw.

Ubi, how is that better squad measured? If you keep saying it though it must be true! Not that much in it Imo.

Ubi that your opinion, nothing to do with logic.

Love the image painted by the daily mirrors report of Chelsea's game.

"The visitors went for the juggler in the second period"

Poor guy, hope he didn't drop his balls!!

That's Chelsea hopes done for this premier league season title race, I think the bitter one should most definitely concentrate on his own failings from now on and leave the people to who it isn't bitterly personal to talk about Arsene.

mourinho is an embarrassment to his club at the best of times but while he was winning people tolerated him begrudgingly but just like inter and Real, Chelsea in many ways will be pleased to part company with him again if he's not very careful.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Oct 2015 20:04:54
He is anti-football, and deserves every bit of misery coming his way.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 20:21:49
First time round mourinho was funny and brilliant for the game I was gutted he left, second time round he is exactly the opposite and for me he can't leave this country soon enough.

03 Oct 2015 20:37:05
I bet he would love to take over at Arsenal next season......like him or hate him, he would seriously kick some butt ...

Never write them off mate.

They are still champions and have an open cheque book.

But, what a difference from last season.

Terry is finished, as is Ivanovich and Fabregas looks like he doesn't give a stuff.

If Mourinho became Arsenal manager I would probably just end it.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 21:05:41
Their MF was so good in 2014 their defence hardly ever saw the ball then the second half of last season they defended their big lead at the top as a team from front to back.
Terry and Cahill looked dodgy last season if teams could get the ball and had the nerve to attack them.
Mourinho has built his siege mentally but his words and actions now means its working against him with his own troops.

Arsenal are way above mourinho standard, a winning club we may no longer be but an honourable and decent club we will always be, I hope.
Were not perfect and our past does have a few low points but 99% of our history as a footbal club is to be very very proud od.
We are way above and beyond having mourinho at Arsenal football club, relegation before the likes him or Costa IMO.

Derby is in Africa and he is still going on about De Bruyne.

Let's hope there's a hungry lion around.

Only joking mate.

You can't ignore his form dags. Excellent player and will only get better mate.

You've obviously not heard the news Derby. I've replied on your Africa post earlier. It's grim reading for De Bruyne fans I'm afraid mate. Grim.

He is a good player mate, can't deny that.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 21:28:35
Good player dags, but ultimately flawed by his own racism. What he said about Alan Ball's corpse was unacceptable. You should never speak ill of the dead unless you really really feel like it.

03 Oct 2015 22:58:07
Don't know too much about that Ubi, but I know he once said to a ballboy, "Give me the ball motherfu****".

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 23:29:37
You should read up on it Dags. It's not just Alan Ball. He's obsessed with all different kinds of corpses. In the dressing room they call him "corpse boy". True story.

A looking forward to tomorrow - Per and Nacho as part of back 4 with Cech in Goal will be a strong disciplined defence.

Hopefully a front 4 of Theo, Ozil, Rambo, and Sanchez

We need to come out and put pressure on the ball, move it forward quicker and not give it away cheaply.

If we turn up and play like we are proud of the badge - we will win.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Oct 2015 16:16:38
I think tomorrow we need to take the pressure off Berlin to get forwards so much because his pace will be needed to cover Mertesacker at the back more, Le Coq Gabriel and Monreal will all have to chip in with covering his lack of pace against Martial.
Someone has to play and within a bit stay on the right of MF so Ox over Ramsey in that position for me tomorrow, Ramsey for either Mesut or Caz IMO.
Mesut is absolutely brilliant and I'm so glad we've got him but tomorrow is all about firstly not getting beat and without Kos that's not going to be easy unless we compensate for his absence else where.
Gabriel and Mertersaacker together really does worry me.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 17:10:24
I don't think we can play both Ox and Theo in the same front line as too similar - both need space to run into while Ox has terrible distribution and ball control. He has a long way to go before good enough to start against Utd.
Coq will protect back 4 and Rambo on the wing gives a good work rate, runner into box and defensive powers. Wenger likes a defensive winger with work rate - Parlour and Freddie spring to mind.
Rambo would offer good runs for Ozil to pick out, as would Theo.

Cech,
Bellerin, Kos, Per and Nacho ( replace Kos with Gab if injured)
Coq and Santi
Rambo, Ozil, Theo and Sanchez

Very mobile and interchangeable front line with pace - just got to get it up to them.

Team should also be able to win the ball back high up the pitch without giving up shape at the back.

Coq wins the ball and plays a quick simple pass to Santi or Ozil to start attacks and keep shape

Per and Cech with the experience to keep the shape

We need another winger, striker and central midfielder but leave that for another day as the bench will be strong with Ox, Joel and Giroud on the bench but I think that bench needs to be stronger to win the league and last the season

SY4 team will be the one that plays I believe. Ozil or Cazorla certainly won't be dropped.

Interesting piece in the metro from Theo - as an Ozil Fan, I would like to see the same thing to get the debt out of him.

"first thing he does when he has the ball, in fact when he hasn't even got the ball, is that he looks, '
'He looks first before he gets the ball and he knows where he's going to play it before he's even got it. That just shows the sort of quality we have in this team.
'I know what he's going to do now when he's got the ball, I just need to keep making those runs and hopefully we can get that relationship going.'

Theo also believes we should build the team around Ozil - I tend to agree and if you spend 42m, why wouldn't you.

I though k of the teams that DB10 played in which allowed us to get the best out of him - I just want to see what Ozil could do for us in the right set up.....

Against Zargreb when we went down to 10 Mesut was given an attacking role and looked for me just like he did at Real and does for Germany.
His work rate in MF is very good but that's not we paid 42 million for the bloke is class on grass if given the role to show it.
