Use our rumours form to send us arsenal transfer rumours.

I made a post a few down about how fast arsenal's defence is, and where it might rank worlwide in terms of pace - and 'davo' from the spurs page came on here and started talking about the spurs defence.

Anyone else think that with Gallas, dawson, vertonghen, spurs have the slowest centre backs in the league?

I thought mertesacker was slow, and then I watched vertonghen get absolutely destroyed tonight by that little egyptian guy for basel. who was pretty good actually.

Assou ekotto aswell, is nowhere near as good as he was 2 seasons ago.

Bale injured. Gallas injured. Defoe injured. Lennon Injured. Adebayor not giving a s*** and holtby lookin pretty average for a guy we all craved for arsenal to sign.

spurs are finished.

Believable20 Unbelievable3

Absolutely the Toot have conceded more League goals than us. Walker, Vertonghen & Assou-Ekotto are better going forward. Whilst Gallas & Friedel are clearly past their best. Dawson is cumbersome.

Agree2 Disagree0

Am I glad we didn't sign Vertonghen, he makes the Merte look like an Olympic sprinter!

Agree1 Disagree7

For me it was the cockiness. The players admitted before the game of dreaming of the finals.

as the age old adage goes never underestimate the opponent.

Bayern did it to us and we almost punished them.

As a proud welshman but also a loyal gunner, bit of a dilemma with the bale injury. naahh we only care about rugby, should make our run in a little bit easier!

Now I do not wish injury upon any player, but if this injury to Bale is serious, Tottenham will be greatly effected, and will drop points.

The comeback is on, perhaps not in the style we wanted, but it may be on regardless.

Oh dear. Bale is injured. I was really hoping for a close battle between us and the spurs for third/fourth. but I guess now it's over.

Hope he's not out for too long - it's never good to see a player injure themselves badly even is they are a Spud.

There's an article on Eurosport about an African footballer who lied about his age and was 12 years older than what he claimed. it also says that his countryman and ex gunner kanu has also been accused of lying about his age.

How do they get by unnoticed. If the age difference was 1 or 2 years then ok. No one will find out. But 12 years. Come on.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Lol - I remember when I was a kid Freddy Adu burst on to the scene, supposedly 14 years old and bossing the mls and everyone from Barca to Manchester United were supposedly after him.
it was only later on did people realise he's about 6 years older.
Even on Web he's listed as being 23 years old - despite the fact he's not grown an inch in 9 years.
it make me laff

Bould (hes got hair but we don't care) has reported on Arsenal site Theo and Jack both running and have a chance playing against Norwich.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

To be honest without the pair of em we're in fine form. don't get me wrong I know they're both big players, but at this moment in time they both should be benched for now in my opinion at least.

Agree10 Disagree1

Since when did Bould have hair?

Agree8 Disagree0

He has hair! Just not on his head.

Any Ed do you know if Arsenal have any interest in any of the following players? I think they'd be excellent for Arsenal in the summer.

Dede from Vasco the Gama - Only seen him a few times for Brazil but looks an exceptional defender. Tall, great in the air, solid tackler and also very quick for his size. Reminds me a little of Marcel Desailly.

Also Maicon (very similar to Dede), Mangala (seem to remember him scoring against us a few years ago when he was at his last club) and Otamendi (would prefer one of the others purely as they are taller) from Porto as they look like they'd be excellent additions from what I've seen? No idea if Porto would be interested in selling but worth testing the water. {Ed027's Note - Dede is being chased buy the Milan clubs and Manchester Utd, there is no intrest in the Porto guys, all would be available though. The centre back we want is Ambroieta, we won't sign another unless Vermaelan, Per or Koscielny leave the club, Djourou could still stay, Squillachi is finally on his way out.

Hey Ed,

I think these are the players arsenal NEED to sign:

GK: Victor Valdes (£10-20M)
CB: N'Koulou or Kouyate (Both) (£7-12M)
CDM: Etienne Capoue (£10-15M)
ST: Stevan Jovetic or Andreus Cornelius (Jovetic £15-25M)
Cornelius (£5-12M) I think more of Jovetic than Cornelius though

I was wondering.

What would happen if hypothetically, Arsenal and Chelsea finished 3rd and 4th, with Spurs finishing 5th. If Spurs were to go on and win the Europa league, and beat the CL holders in the Super Cup, would they get into the CL at the expense of an English club? Or would there be 5 English teams in CL. I'm have no idea what might happen, albeit it is highly unlikely these events will occur.

Detroit Gooner {Ed027's Note - Nothing, Arsenal and Chelsea would get CL, spurs would get Europa League as usual

1) diaby out for 9 months seriously hope its a baby boy.
2) thomas vermaelen will be back just a small blip those saying he should be sold just don't know what they are saying. kos the boss had a small blip and came back stronger. just saying
3) on the defensive mid option capoue and wanyama have come up many times but what about DENISOV from russia? the man is a beast always on yo face kind of player. good on the ball what you all think?
iwarutis

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Denisov is a good call yeh. it will definitely be someone that nobody mentions and who is totally under the radar that will get signed, if anyone is signed.

Subotic is a spectacular defender. What pace for his size

Him next to Kos and we have a set back 4 for years

. sorry this is a continuation of last post

Offer 35-40m for Subotic and Gundogan, is money well spent IMO

Believable7 Unbelievable7

I have been saying we should buy Subotic for years. no one ever listens to me. haha.

Agree3 Disagree1

What ever happend to serdar tasci. I remember we had an interest in him 3 years ago

Agree2 Disagree0

Subotic is nearly as slow as big Per! Great defender but I wonder how he'd do in UK.

Forget Gotze, we have quite a few quality central mids who struggle to score.

I'd rather we sign Gundogan, that kid is something else. At his age playing the pivot. Incredible when you see how they move the ball and he starts everything

Isco is the right addition over Gotze. One hell of a shot and more versatile. I'm not knocking Gotze, but 30 million? No thanks

I'd happily offer 15-20m for Gundogan

Believable7 Unbelievable7

To me gundogan is like a faster version of arteta. I remember wenger praising him and in January wenger also said he was looking to sign a player in the mould of arteta.

did anyone see Gundongan against Malaga tonight? his passes were crisp and classy, had a couple of dodgy 1-2's and loose passes under pressure, ran back whenever he lost the ball personally, positioning was pretty good, made some good tackles I thought

have we ever been interested Ed (s)? {Ed029's Note - Not Arsenal mate.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's a shame, he'd be a great Arteta replacement

we have way too many mids though, ah well!
