Sanchez.

20 goals and 10 assists.

Not too shabby :-)

His signing was massive dags. It kept Liverpool away and Gave us all hope.

What was your take on sterling dags after watching him yesterday?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 08:54:24
Dags
And pace to burn and plays with a smile
Truly a great player that come to us to play under Wenger

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 12:16:55
I thought Sterling had a very good game in a team who were put under great pressure from the start.

He showed his bad side - diving and looking at the ref like his England buddy Rooney

But showed he has great pace, nice touch and good awareness of space. Not sure he would start in our best 11 but how often do we start our best 11. If we had money to burn, I would buy him but I would rather invest elsewhere in the side eg another central half and defensive midfielder

If we still have 50m to spare then buy him!

Here's a question - who was the last player at Arsenal anyone can remember playing with as much joy for the game as Sanchez?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 13:45:34
Didn't ozil have a little dive sy4?

But he plays for arsenal so we will continue to mention others and brush that under the carpet...

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Apr 2015 14:16:01
You'd know if Ozil dove, he'd do it with such class there'd be little cards with 10s in the stands and a round of pundit applause. Even his dives would be that be stylish, if he ever did ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 23:32:44
Which he did more than once.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 00:18:25
-:) Stylish more than once? Thanks, didn't think you were a fan of his -:) just kidding around, you add good colour to the banter page CTR.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 00:52:32
he does have a certain grace on the ball, shame he only wants to show it a handful of times a season :)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 22:33:12
I don't think Ospina gets enough credit.

Much better than Sczezny.

More composed and much more reliable.

He tends to stay on his line more, which is good because Sczezny flaps about too much and comes for crosses he shouldn't.

Le Coq gets a lot of credit, rightly so, but Ospina has made a massive difference since playing between the sticks.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Very true Dags. I think he has been fantastic. I think I remember yesterday the commentators saying something like he has kept 10 clean sheets so far if I am not mistaken

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 08:35:23
Your right dags. I'd love him to battle it out with cech next season. Scz could do a bentner if not carefully he loves himself. He's lost his Poland starting place too

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 08:36:41
Totally agree dags. Not only does he seem to inspire confidence in his defence but also as a spectator I feel a lot more reassured when he's in goal.

His ability to collect crosses under pressure is phenomenal, unlike shezza who just punches everything.

If the rumours are true and we are in for a new no1 I'd be pretty upset for the lad. He's still young and has had a great first season.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 08:55:58
Not sure
Dags
looks a bit short and fat and out of breathe every time I see him

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 22:29:32
Absolutely ecstatic about today.

Lovely to Rodgers have that gormless grin wiped off his face.

Great performance, individually and collectively and a great result.

Great goal by Bellerin.

Hate to pick faults but he made a silly mistake taking out Sterling.
15 mins to go and we are cruising. He needs to learn s bit more composure at the back.
Stupid tackle that nearly let them back in the game and he could have also got a 2nd yellow and left us down to 10 men.

He's young and will learn.
That apart, he was terrific.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

05 Apr 2015 08:49:51
Totally agree with you about Rodgers, it's funny to see him come up with every excuse under the sun when he gets beat. Apparently they where the better side and had the better chances!? Also Can's Redcard wasn't his fault, supposedly the pitch is slipy and when he went in for the tackle he's slipped and it's looked worse. Why can't he just hold his hands up and say 'we got beat by the better team'

Bellerin will learn from this, his young and seems to have a sensible head and a maturity about him. You can't learn unless you make these mistakes.

You can already see the effect that regular first team involvement is having on him. He looks a different player to the one that started out against Dortmund and that 3-2 defeat to Stoke.

He looks the real deal. He has pace and great energy which allows him to be lethal down the wings but also helps him cover back in defence. He looks far more solid these days and now has a presence about him. Find it hard to see how he could be replaced at the minute.

Contender for Arsenal young plyer of the season for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers is an embarrassment, Liverpool were outplayed for most of the game, only one spell before you scored were we even in it. Arsenal were much the better side, they completely overrun Liverpool at times. As for Can, yes he slipped, but he shouldn't have been making the tackle in the first place when he has a yellow card, it was always going to be a foul and a card. The slip just turned it from a definite yellow into a potential red card. I like Can but he needs to learn from that stupid mistake a lot quicker than Rodgers learns.}

The comment about spurs and spending 100mill wasnt a good moment for him

Thought we played fantastic today, brilliant performance from all the lads today, I was fearing the worst after 20mins due to us slowing down I was having visions of the whole United saga at the Emirates this year but once the first goal went in well you guys know what happened! Each goal better than the last, I've got a really good feeling that we can mount a real charge up the table now, I'd love to say we could clinch the title but I just can't see chelski loosing it but 2nd is ours now I feel :) love it! COYG!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Apr 2015 19:52:03
Yeah, first place is just a bridge too far imo. I hope we manage 2nd though, I feel the lack of champions league qualifier and moral boost of our highest finish in years will do wonders for confidence next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 20:43:14
What utd do in thier next two games will say a lot about where we can finish up Essex mate, if they get something from city 2nd is in our own hands and if they can follow that by beating chavs at the boot sale then 1st would be a little more possible.
But 2nd or 3rd and retaining the cup would be a fantastically brilliant way to end this season anything more would be fairytale that made Harry Kane's season look boring.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - got to give young kane a bit of credit G62, hes had a fine season mate..

04 Apr 2015 21:04:24
He definitely has Ed and i take absolutely nothing from him at all, I was only using him and the wonderful season he's having as an example of what it would take for us to achieve anything better than runners up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair enough G62..

Mesut Ozil - has a touch like a midwife.

Wish someone would kick Ramseys ar5e and tell him to stop using al those playground tricks. So many times he not only gets them wrong but picks the wrong pass with them anyway - gave the ball away so many times today when he was under no pressure.

Well done all for the thrashing of the red scousers though

Believable2 Unbelievable1

04 Apr 2015 19:05:00
is a touch like a midwife an insult or compliment? i would imagine a midwife to have soft touch

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 20:51:17
Eden,
you'd probably need to be in my age group to get that quote (it was stolen from the late , great 'blaster' bates).

But basically a midwife needs a perfect touch rather than a soft touch.
In fact it's a very heavy compliment.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 21:24:15
I didn't want to spoil the mood as it is very positive today. I think Ox instead of Ramsey and you have the best first XI we have now. I've been watching Ramsey lately he just gives the balls away and ruins counters. And why can't he stay on his feet he's always tripping and falling down it's frustrating.

On the other hand the whole team played top class today very proud. Coquelin has had an immense game.

Sorry Steve but no-one has slated this team more than you. I'm sorry for whatever your crisis is; but you have to accept you have given it both barrels all year about how useless we are. You aren't the only one to be fair.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 17:27:20
Someone has to say it - Ozil had a great game and glad he stepped up in a big game. He is crucial to keeping us ticking over, exploiting space and keeping shape. If everyone ran around like Sanchez, we would have no shape.

Many good performances and a great result.

Lastly, well done to Arsene for steering the ship through choppy waters, listening to criticism to make us stronger and prepared to drop non performers and also sub Ozil ( many on this site thought it would never happen). Good to see a solid back up plan if a centre half gets injured.

We can only be a few players away from winning the league any time soon

Exciting times!

Well played boys

Great result, played well. Shut up all the scousers up here :-).

Been thinking we could do with a new song something everyone can sing.

Thought on the lines of the chorus too

Cant stop me now - rod stewart

[Chorus:]
They can't stop us now
The world is waiting
It's our turn to stand out in the crowd
They can't stop us now
The tide is turning
ARSENAL going to make us proud

Anyone got any ideas?

NIce one Blackpool Gooner

Not too sure about the lyrics.

let's see..... go to pub get bladdered walk down to highbury and sing a song with lots of differet words and all have to be pretty much in the right order.

Mmmm think it might not be quite my idea of a Saturday afternoon chant.

There'sonly one (any Arsenal payer here)

repeat above loads of times... just changethe emphasis on the words as you feel

04 Apr 2015 18:27:04
Or to the tune of sweet Caroline

Where it began I can't begin to tell you all that I know its growing strong
Was it Le Coq or the win at man city that suddenly made us look like we can't go wrong.
Fans hugging fans cheer louder with every goal
Sweet ARSENAL good times never felt so good, I've been inclined to believe they never would

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2015 23:26:37
Nice tune.

How about this I thought of some time ago (to the "Thomas the Tank Engine" theme song):

"Score 2, score 4
Score 6 or 8
Arsenal Football Club the Great
Red and white or gold and blue
There a really useful crew
All with different roles to play
Round Highbury park or round the way
Mesut - he's the cheeky one
Olly - he's vain but lots of fun
Santi - delivers the pass on time
Alexis - thunders down the line
Ramsey - likes to score and share
Kos - leaves attackers scared"

(I figure the players names can be substituted as time goes on).

Thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - For the love of God -and for your own safety - don't try and start that song at a match or in a pub. In fact probably best just keeping the whole idea to yourself.}

04 Apr 2015 15:20:50
Credit where it's deserved! Very well played today! Please don't let the Mancs finish above you, let alone win the league...that's all I ask Gooners

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Apr 2015 14:58:28
If you count two out on loan (Sanogo and Pod), Arsenal have 21 different scorers from all competitions this campaign. Giroud and Sanchez have 14 league goals each. There's barely an outfield squad player who has yet to score. If we can produce that many goals from that many different parts of our team, that's arguably a decent way to come from the days of relying all too often on one talisman like RVP. Most of these haters might realise they don't have a leg to stand on... Oh wait

Believable3 Unbelievable0

04 Apr 2015 17:19:09

04 Apr 2015 14:36:14
Well played guys, I suppose that's revenge for last season ;-) now do us all a favour and please go and win the league so we don't have to watch Mou and JT's smug faces parading the PL trophy around every 5 minutes on Sky for the next year!
