We have kept two clean sheets in convincing wins in our last two matches. Do you play Ospina or Cech against West Ham?

Harsh on Ospina but Cech every time.

Tough call.
I think Ospina has done himself proud.
Either or In my opinion.

Never change a winning team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - always play your strongest team!..

04 Apr 2016 22:34:40
Your strongest team is your winning team. But I would use cech.

04 Apr 2016 22:39:30
If we won 2 on the trot without Kos would we leave him out no matter how well Chambers had played in his absence?
If Cech Kos Ozil or Sanchez lose form by all means drop them as no one should play on reputation alone but when fit and in form they are our 4 class above players so pick themselves above others simply because they are that good.

Agree Ed,
But have always been a fan of Ospina, apart from CL clanger, he has always played well.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes not a bad keeper at all dags...but hes not petr mate..

04 Apr 2016 22:53:30
Your strongest team and a winning team are not synonymous! I agree with g62, play Cech everytime unless he has the slightest niggle then there's absolutely no need to risk him with the form Ospina is in.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2016 23:17:13
Agree Ed, but I just think there should be polarity through the team.

If Iwobi is playing well and scoring, Giroud shouldn't just walk back into the team.

If Joel Campbell is playing well, should Theo walk straight back into the team when he is fit?

If Elneny is playing well, should Ramsey stroll straight back in when fit?

Every position should have competition amongst players and every player should have competition from like for like players.

Cech, brilliant as he is, should be no exception mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i get your point dags and it has validity but the players you mention would be a matter of preference as they are of similar ability, i dont think the goalkeeping spot is even close mate..

05 Apr 2016 11:16:33
Fair point Ed.

05 Apr 2016 17:46:39
Ed is spot on! However it'll be interesting to see what Arsene does when santi/ Rambo/ wilshere are back. Who do you take out? Elneny or coquelin?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2016 18:51:25
Dags I see and in principal agree with you because what's the point in a player getting and making the most of his chance when it comes along if he's onlky going to be dropped again!
But like Ed says it's Cechs excellence that has to be the deciding factor, very very tough on Ospina thought all the same.

I knew it was a bad idea for jack Wilshire to go out partying with the raver. Everywhere we go the old bill are never far away.

Yep, 2 people who contribute absolutely nothing to a season.

Love you really Raver 😏.

Raver, jack and malaga on the town

That would be a night out.

Dags (et al) Mkhitarayn has great stats but Calhanoglu might be a better bet?
22 years old, keep Mesut company and not only a fine prospect, but already doing well in the Bundesliga.

I fear Cazorla will be off back to Spain: Ramsey not consistent enough and although a fine player strangely upsets our balance.
Wilshere too injury prone, Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky finished at the top level. Yes Elneny, yes Iwobi, yes the Ox, yes to bringing back Gnabry and Zalelem. A reinforcement is needed.

MF.

Good spot Max,
Looks very decent and has a reputation as a dead ball specialist.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Apr 2016 16:16:02
Didn't madrid inquire about him last year and we're told specifically he's not for sale though (think ed002 said) . I'd imagine if calhanoglu became availble they'd get first dibs.

They also want hazard though so could be an outside shot for us.

Can't wait for transfer season!
Everyone's touting summer spending sprees and I've just seen higuan in tesco.

"Higuain in Tesco".

Love it Gav.

Only problem is, Wenger won't sign him as he only shops in Poundland.

I'm not going to change the World I know.
But! When we read players now want £200,000 a week ( Ozil ) as an example, as it might not be enough to keep them in their job! I'm thinking that's ok they put the minimum wage up to £7.20p an hour so why not. It's a disgrace and we all know it .
Don't tell me otherwise.

Oh and before anyone mentions about the handsome revenue paid by Sky Tv etc. remember who is paying Sky in the first place! Yes the likes of you and I and I never see it dropping in price neither. I love football and especially Arsenal but I am sick and tired of reading about these primadonna footballers that can't get out of bed for less than what I would call a lottery win every month and that applies to anyone else in the entertainment industry as far as I am concerned. Millions here! millions there! what is going on? .
The real heroes are the working people that get up every day to a job they probably can't stand to support their
families. Does that sound familiar? Hundreds of thousands a week! for kicking a ball it's taking the 'P' in my opinion.

I agree with everything you said Lansera. Unfortunately it is the way of the world now and it will not change in the foreseeable future as football is one of the biggest ways for the fans of clubs to escape from the drudgery of their jobs. Will there be a tipping point for sky when people can no longer pay their extortion, sorry, subscription fees? Who knows but it's not likely at the moment as there is a demand for the product.

Good rant Lanesra and I totally agree.

But, as 14 said, it's the way of the world unfortunately.

I don't really see why football is any different to any other forms of entertainment where people also earn a fortune. I don't see people moaning about how much film stars are paid for just a few months work, or TV stars for that matter. However i do have an issue with how people behave and convey their education (or lack of it) and that's where IMO football comes up a bit short. Case in point with Wilshire on the front pages of today's papers for the wrong reason.

04 Apr 2016 15:12:02
Yes its obscene what some "sports people" are paid its sad but that's the way it is. And yes we pay it all in one form or another.

Sky already have lost a load of football to bt. And bt costs me a fiver compared to sky's £20.

I get BT Sport free because I'm a virgin (oi oi) but pay £30 per month for SS.

No doubt that will rise (oi oi again) .

You can never justify the salaries of top players, but there are very few players who have the ability of Ozil, whilst minimum wage workers are plentiful. The problem with increasing the minimum wage is that employers either reduce workers hours or employ less people.
In order for salaries to rise, you need to reduce the supply of workers to the market. Mass immigration has caused salaries to fall. Quite frankly I don't know how people on low wages in areas such as London, survive.

04 Apr 2016 19:50:43
So paying someone £300 a week for 40 hours work that keeps our streets clean, shops full and economy moving costs jobs while paying someone £200,000 a week because he can kick a bag of wind better than most is acceptable?
World's gone nuts for sure.

What an absolute pile of pants, the very best in pretty much every sport earn a fortune because fans want to see them and are more than happy to pay.

Any fan would give their right arm to win the premier league playing for their club, win the Masters, Wimbledon, the Super Bowl, be the F1 world champion, knock out the heavy weight champion of the world or win the World Series.

Not one of those fans would do it for £7.20 an hour. Get in the real world.

A rare positive post for this site:

I've just got round to watching the full match against Watford (spent the weekend away in hotels to do a couple gigs) , and how well did Elneny play? I know that everyone seems to be on his John Thomas at the moment and i'm anxious about getting too eager about him this early but I can only think of one word to describe his performance and that word is 'tidy'.

There were a number of times where he was like a crab, sprinting sideways to sweep up any danger just in front of the back four. Also, he was very tidy with possession and distribution - usually playing the simple pass straight to feet and not giving any opposition players a chance to intercept.

It's not the most spectacular word and he's not the most spectacular player but he seems to be what we need and may bring a lot to our team.

Over the last few years everytime i have watched FC Basel play I have always been very impressed with the style they play and how comfortable they all are on the ball. I can't say that Elneny ever shone out, but its clear that he has the Basel mindset, always wants the ball, nothing spectacular, but he knows its a team game.
