Knee ligament injury mate.

3 months out.

Arsene defiantly not to blame for Caz injury but is 100% responsible for risking Sanchez, the clue is in his own words he said before the game Sanchez had a hamstring problem and its 100% the manahers job to pick the team not the players to chose if and when they play.
Put your hands up Arsene you look ridiculous trying to excuses yourself from any responsibility.

If we got the same result and rested sanchez wenger would get a lot of stick anyways. Obviously it sucks, i think the sanchez injury isn't the main problem, but ALL the injuries all together.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2015 00:21:21
Totally agree Arsene would have got stick for resting Sanchez if he'd done the right thing and we'd failed to win, but only from the can't see further than their nose brigade who when we play well think we'll win the league by aa mile and when we play badly we'll struggle for 4th.
It was 100% right not to risk Sanchez last Sunday morning and that would have been right Sunday night what ever the result.
CL team selections and playing and losing Ramsey (Watford) Sanchez (Norwich) Arsenes management gets more and more questionable the longer he goes on.

It feels a bit like Pires all over again. I just hope the injury isn't that bad.

Tough game tomorrow against a Sunderland team that look a lot more organised and are performing well. We on the otherhand look less solid at the back and are failing to get results. All these injuries are not helping. Not a lot of options for what team we can start. But I'd go for:

Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Monreal, Flamini, Ramsey, Ox, Ozil, Campbell, Giroud.

Subs: Ospina, Debuchy, Chambers, Gibbs, Bielek, Iwobi, Walcott.

That team should have enough in them to beat Sunderland. Ozil and Giroud are in good form, Ox looked very sharp last week so hopefully get a good game out of him. wouldn't risk Walcott or Koscielny in starting XI. If we're winning by afew then bring on Gibbs at LM and Chambers at DM to hold it down. If we need a goal to get a result then we'll have to risk Walcott. If it puts him at risk of a setback so be it, dropped too many points already the past month and cannot afford many more.

Sunderland have been playing with 3 at the back recently. Last two teams to try that at the Emirates were Liverpool and Galatasaray. Both we're beaten 4-1. Movement of Ox and Campbell with runs from Bellerin and Monreal should be too much for Sunderland wing backs to cope with. The Left and Right CBs will get pulled out of position to cover and create space for Giroud and the midfield runners. Flamini and Ramsey should be able to outplay the Sunderland midfield.

Im going for a 2-1 win. Probably concede a sloppy goal. Giroud and Ramsey to score.

liverpool fan in peace,
I like Arsenal fc a lot, good team,
but how do you rate Mertesacker? don't see anything in him to justify a starting spot.
thanks.

Hi Armendn,
I'm going to leave this one to G62.

G62, over to you mate :-)

Armendn, cover your ears mate.

If a player gets close to him his timing in a tackle is usually spot on, he's fantastic in the air as long as unchallenged and he isn't required to get off the ground at any piont, he isn't able to read the game while the balls in play but can usually spot when we've conferred a goal from quite a distance.
He is very rarely out injured but does get a lot of colds and tummy aches which can keep him out for 2 to 3weeks at a time, he is excellent at berating Mesut Ozil when he steps out of line by being upset just because Arsenal have been torn apart the opposition,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sounds like a world class defender that g62.}

04 Dec 2015 10:51:01
We're open to offers ED001 mate :-) but be warned we won't pay a penny more than £10 million for someone to take him off our hands.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - £10m? I wonder if he fancies working for the sites, I would consider employing him for £10m, so long as Arsenal agree to cover his wages....}

04 Dec 2015 11:09:11
He be no good as an editor Ed, he'd duck all the big question's mate.

Cast your mind back to May 2004!
If someone had told you then that Arsenal wouldn't go on to dominate the premier league for years to come how hard would you have lagged at them.
If they'd also said Arsene Wenger would never again win a premier league title with Arssneal dispite another 12 attempots how much would you have been prepared to bet he would?
It all seems a long time ago now but looking back I'm still puzzled as to how quickly that blow torch of a flame turn into a flicker.

not selling to usmanov was a shocking call.

I'm not sure when usmanov turned up but pretty sure it was quite a while after the invincibles Derby mate.

I think you have to take into account the transitional period of moving to The Emirates, and the fact that, according to Usmanov, the board never really backed the financial side of the move, thus 'forcing' Wenger to sell the players to accommodate the move.

Wenger has brought us huge success, not seen since the 'glorious '30s' under Herbert Chapman.

The move to Emirates was always going to restrict any immediate success, but for me, short term hardship, as some people call it, is worth the gamble for long term success.

Hardship in this case meaning, a £370m stadia has been paid off, continued qualification in CL, by way of always finishing in the top 4, against the backdrop of other teams who have continued to spend, plus 2 FA Cups and a very healthy, but not totally complete squad.

Do we have the right, does any team have the right, to demand success during that 'hardship' period?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2015 11:20:02
Its been 3 years since the club announced the spending restrictions were over and we could buy anyone but Ranaldo and Messi, Dags.
We're going backwards in Europe and still look light for a title bid, but as you say we have won 12 FA cup games on the bounce which is 2 more than Wigan did prior to us beating them on spot kicks after extra time.
Its all still a long way from what most of us were dreaming of May 2004 when the final whistle went against Leicester when absolutely everything not only seemed possible and absolutely nothing impossible for Arsenal football club.

04 Dec 2015 12:01:42
gunner depends how long u is long for you? we had just moved stadium when the yank and usmanov showed up. 2007 i believe. we moved in what 2006?

david dein told people to sell to usmanov but they didn't listen. imagine life now with him. if only : (

there would of been no battle for top4 mate.

I appreciate what you are both saying, but it takes years to build a team.
How many of 'The Invincibles' are in our current squad?
We are there or there about.

I think when Arsene goes the comfortable relationship that exist between all at present will be challenged either by the new manager or by the fans.
Either a man with true football ambition will come in and rock the boat by wanting to build a squad on bulit quality and competition which will require serious investment or the club will go for another manger who values the financial success as the biggesf trophy around but one who 0% of the fans will feel indebted too because of his past with the club and who's excuses will not be accepted.
My guess is usmanov or similar will buy Stan out within 5 years of Arsene leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2015 13:54:12
dags i'm sorry mate but he signed no one in the summer. he believed this squad was good enough.

so if you look at it that way a title winning team won't come from wenger again sorry.

gunner62 good prediction i hope it happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2015 14:46:38
Derby,
Wenger did miss a trick not signing an outfield player in summer window, even the staunchest of supporter would admit that, but I still say, we will win the league this season.

They will spend in January to boost their bids.

04 Dec 2015 17:47:04
Will be tight utd are boring but they just won't go away.

I wouldn't like to put any money on the top4 etc it's a mad mad season. Klopp coming in has defo shakes things up and could make spurs. Us etc spend in Jan.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2015 00:07:02
It seems every window key areas aren't addressed last summer no outfield players when we were desperate for a DM, summer before no CB and kos gets injured early. January before that top of the league, but only giroud as a striker and no support brought in.
The Emirates move would hamper spending but during the same period under were also under quite a bit of debt and if you look on transferleague. com did not spend much more than us in any of the windows post 2005 but did a lot better trophy wise. Might be the fergie factor but that in itself is no great endorsement of winger.
plus with all the concern over profit made I always wonder if a bit more was invested if that wouldn't translate to greater profits, had we become the dominant force in England we would of acquired more supporters and therefore revenue instead of utd. It would be interesting to see a stat showing increase in supporters and revenue post 2005 between us utd and Chelsea, I should imagine chelseas spiked post abramovich and ours is starting to level.

Its very hard to be an Arsenal Fan but i love the club to bits and even though we have serious issues, lol I'll still blindly believe that we'll win the league. am not writing this season off already because i think that's self defeating and because i believe in Wenger. I don't buy the sudden doom and gloom, people are now saying we'll be fighting for fourth spot, it's December and we are only 2 points off the top chin up people.
Lol I am South African though so i always have to ignore the negatives and focus on the positives.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they are still very much in the race CMP, the first 11 are as good as anything the rest of the league has its just that cover for key positions is very thin on the ground, im afraid that players like arteta, flamini and campbell are simply not good enough to win you honors, i would love to be proved wrong mate but it is a major concern..

04 Dec 2015 07:15:37
Positive. I hope you are right come may I really do. Buy I think he left us to short in the summer window. Cazorla out for the season they now say.

Eds random one thoughts on mustafa at Valencia. Played for Everton didn't he? Has a good rep in Spain. Looks good to me and I'm sure Neville wil be a fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - never really got a chance at everton derby, looks like we may have ditched him a bit prematurely there i think mate..
