How's this for a cunning plan?

We employ the recently sacked Laudrup as Arsene's co-assistant (with Bouldy), train him in the way's of "The Arsenal" and when Arsene retires in 2/3 years time we have a ready made very good manager.

Hhhhmmm cunning me thinks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would rather train Henry or Bergkamp over the 2/3 years DG

Agree0 Disagree0

Although that would be awesome, landrup will get a chance at another team, who knows maybe Man U will try to get him ha

Agree0 Disagree0

DG, I thought the self same thing as soon as I hard the news. Gues a lot would depend on Bouldy's expectations and ambitions but I think Laudrup is a quality manager who likes his teams to play football the way we like to watch it. Some politics have got in the mix at Swansea because I cannot believe he has become a poor manager overnight.

Agree0 Disagree0

We can only dream lol.

Henry or Bergkamp would be a good shout too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Imagine henry bergkamp viera and adams as the coaches oh my lord I think I just .

Swansea sack Laudrup?
How fickle have clubs become, 12 months after winning League cup and being tipped to succeed Arsene and others.

I'm so proud of our club and its traditions, we may not always be the best team at all times but as a club Arsenal have no peer's
What other top club would have had the patience, understanding strength and for sigh to back Wenger to where we are now both on and off the pitch.
Very very proud to be a gooner

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So very true, managers don't get anytime at all now and it's getting ridiculous and I think it's time the FA did something about it.
Although a lot of Gooners have called for Wengers head many times over the last few seasons, lucky for us we have a board and an owner that doesn't listen to the fans or see trophies as a mark of success . phew!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kudos to Manchester United for sticking by their manager.

jokes aside, no one gets a chance to prove themselves anymore.

I know it ain't arsenal related but laudrup getting the sack is disgraceful IMHO.

Among all the current BPL managers .
(1) who do you guys would like to replace Wenger as manager of arsenal and
(2) who should never be arsenal manager

Mine would be
(1) Roberto martinez
(2) alan pardew (hate that guy)

And I would also like to mention the name of THE CHOOSEN ONE from manchester for the marvellous work he is doing and helping RVP in fullfilling his dream

Believable0 Unbelievable0

1 Martinez or Southampton bloke
2 Sam with a bad plan or Tony pulis

Agree0 Disagree0

It's so hard to choose an Arsene replacment because myself was saying laudrup could succeed Le Prof, sounds very bad now!

The same names will always be batted around; Martinez, Klopp, Conte, etc. I think all these three could do a great job.

For my sentimental reasons I'll choose Bergkamp or Thierry, I have no words To describe the love for these two! Would love to see that Henry celebration against spurs again! (This time in a suit.)

Agree0 Disagree0

A dream team of Bouldy and Henry for me not for another 3-4 seasons though!

From the premier league the likes of Pochettino and Martinez are two very good young managers but with no real track record yet which is the only downside to them both.

Of the two though I'd say Martinez, if you asked me who outside of the premier league I'd say Diego Simeone.

But who knows who will be available when Arsene retires at 70 ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

1) Martinez or Henry (Bergkamp flying issues rule him out) don't mind tiki taka football we play but would rather it be a bit more direct around penalty box
2) Would hate the likes of Pulis etc to get the job (can't see it)

Three reasons why Arsenal CAN win the title THIS season.

Our defence:

Probably the most improved department from last season. With the towering Mertesacker leading the group while his companion Kocielny is bossing the defence with his high-flying tackles. Mertesacker was criticized for his lack of pace but he neutralizes that with his accurate positioning and ariel abilities. It's not only about these two, the whole Arsenal team defends better as a team. Even the likes of Santi Cazorla is helping the defence now. Let's not forget the huge improvement Wojciech Szczesny has made in the last 12months. He has turned himself into one of the best keepers in the league.

Our creative midfield superstars:
Arsenal have tremendous depth when it comes to attacking midfielders. Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Ox, and Rosicky. All these players are technically so good that they can interchange positions and confuse the opponents during the game. With Mesut Ozil starting to reach his full potential, Cazorla regaining his goal scoring touch, Ox's recent rise, Jack Wilshere's dribbles through middle and Rosicky's energy, Arsenal have an array of talent.

As pointed out by pundits last year, if Arsenal move forward in the right direction (winning trophies) from now on, it (Wenger's Arsenal career) will go down in history as one of the most magnificent managerial performances ever. Fans may criticize him for not getting a striker in the January window, but they have to trust Wenger, he definitely knows what he is doing. He has the ability to motivate and get the best out of the players. That's why he is considered as a father figure to many past and present Arsenal stars. If he can inspire his team to perform well in big matches, then Arsenal's trophy less run may end this season once and for all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Greeny.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Feb 2014 07:27:58
To add to that great post Greeny the team has just grown so much as a group, I really believe they want it as much as we do and if they can get that feeling of winning something then who knows what they can achieve.

I'd love to see Arsene pick up the UCL before he retires as well as a few more league titles on the way of course.

A question to season ticket holders and regular attendees to games.

How can we create an amazing atmosphere at the Emirates? I know the little touches such as the flag wavers for every goal scored etc but I was at the game and I have to be honest, the palace fans out sang us all game.

I think the ticket prices and cooperate membership (like a lot of other clubs) has had a detrimental effect on the atmosphere.

I would love a section for the 'hardcore away day' style Arsenal fans to be present every game. We get slagged off for having the library mark II after the library that was highbury.

Any other suggestions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Amplifier's so one end can hear the other and we can all sing the same song at the same time would be good

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a chant leader with a megaphone and a drummer!

Agree0 Disagree0

Use of instruments I.e. Drums. and a catchy new song. Come on arsenal doesn't last long enough lol

Agree0 Disagree0

As a club level season ticket holder I have to say I am disappointed with the lack of vocal support, there are a few people in my section like myself who will sing a long to songs but nobody would start one.

I think all arsenal fans are slightly spoiled as in we don't sing unless it is a game we expect a good challenge in. New songs, words on screen for timing purposes and in particular a drum are the ways I see it improving for so called lesser games. Against the big boys I don't think the atmosphere could get much better considering ticket prices.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm in upper tier of east stand its very quiet up there tbh. The north and clock end sing at each other at times. Even heard there's only one Arsene Wenger again lately.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've always preferred going away, we have the best away support of any team, a comment echoed when we have a beer in the pub after games with the home fans. I always leave matches unable to speak in anymore than a whisper. I think that a singing section in either end of the ground or an announcer in a similar style to in Germany who starts fans off would be a great idea

Agree0 Disagree0

Club level?

nope don't sing there man, you'll get massive dodgy looks from everyone around you for ruining their day trip to the emirates stadium to watch this soccer match.

haha let's just say I prefer the upper tier for singing, cheaper seats = true'r atmosphere

which I think is also the problem, a lot of week in week out fans have to sit so far away from the pitch their songs can't be heard aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love a cannon or similar noise to boom out say at kick off and after every goal, would be even better if it knocked the chicken off the ball :)

So not Arsenal related as such, but Michael Laudrup has been sacked by Swansea following their defeat to West Ham at the weekend.

I seem to remember some of the 'Wenger out brigade' were putting Laudrup's name forward as a potential replacement whilst Swansea were flying high.

Time moves quickly in football.

16 years on and Wenger is still going strong.

When will diaby be back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am told there has been no word from teh club yet.}

Somewhere between 1-2 weeks before he gets injured again

im left wondering, does Man city have any fans?

Besides the Arsenal, Chelsea, Spus, Utd, Liverpool forum are there any other supporters on here?

Im not doubting the supporters of the smaller clubs, they are more die hard than we will ever be, but i'm just talking EPL clubs and not the others. put your knives away boys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - ONe wasy the site would attract people is if word got out on other forums that this is a cool place to hang out, post of the day hampers handed out everyday, etc.. The Arsenal supporters are generally very good on these pages and there is a decent level of banter. And the Spurs and Chelsea supporters generally work well in a similar way. Unfortunately, many of teh supporters of a couple of northern sides can only resort to abuse in replay to banter, so it can get tough.}

There are quite a few at my work place who have been reading this forum for well over two months, they are not really into the forums, but they feel the insight and validity is more pure, to the twitter or media world.

from what I have gathered, some of you ED's do have a certain level of insider knowledge, perhaps use that to your advantage.

During the transfer window, Summer and winter, have an exclusive page for transfer talk, and all the fans can post there, detrimental to the team pages, but it would bring many opinions together, create a rivalry among fans, pros and cons in that last line.

let me say it in very simple terms. Talkrubbish do it often. take an opposition view for no apparent reason, many individuals who are only listners. then callers dial in to prove them wrong and the winner is talkrubbish.

perhaps make it a theme, with guys who claim to be ITK. perhaps besides malaga's name. Malaga Gooner -ITK - Unconfirmed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't want the sites to end up anything like that dross radio station aimed at people with an IQ that barely makes double figures.}

Its about debate, what they do sparks debate. IQ is dependent on the response. I have heard some really amazing opinions on that sports channel fyi.

perhaps a transfer special will liven things up in the summer. I did not intend the Ed's to post that info, more like a feedback from a user, not that the admins should consider my feedback. just an opinion.

I heard from reliable sources in Madrid that arsenal were interested in signing Defoe. I would eat him up

Oh well, the bet blew out. Did hedge a little on either to win but nothing compared to what it could have been.

Thanks for all your "good lucks" yesterday.

On a serious note, watching both teams last night did not make me think they are better than us.

The future is ours, the future is RED AND WHITE.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Feb 2014 15:25:11
Olds I was willing them to equalise even though a Chelsea win was kind of better.

Having watched the game too and without looking through rose tinted specs our best 11 has the ability to beat both those teams.

Positive results against Pool and United prior to those two games will set us nicely and give the team a great lift to do it.

I've said it before on this site, but it wasn't posted. Would it be the worst idea to try out TV5 out at CDM with our current crop of injuries in that area. A good ball playing CB that would help sure us up at the back against these top teams in our hard next few games, especially at set pieces.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - why do people always whine that it wasn't posted when they just haven't seen it, there is a huge difference.}

Great shout Bear. I think due to our current injury situation that might work, and also it would give TV5 some much needed game time.
Cause I hear there are some grumblings coming from his camp, due to I being world cup year.

Agree0 Disagree0

City did that yesterday good result.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it would but worth a go as I can see the potential for him playing there.
Dropping him has been Arsene's best move for years no way would we have made top 4 last season or be top now if he hadn't.
But part of being in a top side is making your self as pickable is possible so if he could add another string to his bow it would have to be good for him and us

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2014 16:34:14
City did it yesterday with martin demichelis who looked every bit of his 33 years of age Chelsea also did it with david luiz who had a great game

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2014 12:45:13
I hope city's loss will dent their confidence somewhat. Although they lost some ground yesterday, if it we were ever in a cup final, based on this season's form, I would rather we play Chelsea than City

Just read something on another fan site. Funny but possibly true

Q: What is Per Mertesacker's greatest quality?

A: His greatest attribute is that he is German!

Couldn't agree more!

If we couildnt win the league which would you chose

(A) PL 2nd and CL losing finalists, meaning another year without a trophy

or

(B) PL 4th CL last 16 but win the FA cup

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I want a trophy, but for Gooners to travel to the CL final and cheer on their team, for that one night I think I'd have to pick A. And 2nd in the PL would mean not being dragged into another tiring battle for fourth. I think it would redefine our ambitions.

Agree0 Disagree0

B) We still qualify for CL plus we win some silverwaree and get that monkey off our back.

Agree0 Disagree0

B. I want to get this 9 years without winning anything of our back. Also I don't think I can take being another beaten finalist.
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2014 12:37:12
I think I would go with option b. Although I think the FA cup is 3rd on our list of priorities, I would rather we won some sort of silverware to get all the "haters" off our backs

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2014 12:44:33
Can I pick C - Win all three!

Seriously, it's got to be a trophy so unhappily B

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it would be A every time.
It would prove to us, the players + potential new players and the football world that we are ready to compete at the highest level again and were only going to get better and better in the coming years

Agree0 Disagree0

Sometime I want to play a 4-3-3 with Jack, Ramsey, and Ox. That would be a decent sight to see

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That may well be the future. Chelsea play with a similar set up/type of players when defensive. Just wether any are disciplined enougj to actually just stay back and cover the defence as all 3 like a goal. IMO an out and out defensive mid would still be needed. One who reads the game well but also has pace to keep up with on rushing midfielders.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that would be a bit of a problem as none of them are very defensive.
