Bit harsh on bristol that west ham only got a fine, if sakho had done nothing I would say fair enough, but considering he scored the winner they should at least get a replay

Totally agree.

Flagrant abuse of FIFA law, obviously guilty, hence the measly fine.

Just feel sorry for Bristol City.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear sepp does not mind someone slipping him a 50 when he is shredding evidence.

Everyone is talking about how Chelsea is good at selling all of they're so-so players for big money (i.e. Schurrle to Wolfsburg, Lukaku to Everton) and how that's great business, but no one ever mentions how we got Juventus to take Bendtner FOR A WHOLE SEASON on loan. What's the real feat here? I think we all know.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fernando Torres, £50m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Goose, NB52 was the best player in the world apparently.

The chelsea thing is about recent transfers BTW, you have to hand it to them they have the best squad in the EPL and have made money as well. But don't worry i'm not crossing over to the blue side, I still can't stand Maureen.

Agree0 Disagree0

David Luiz £50m.

Amazing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, Chelsea supporters must be loving life right now, fair play to them you have to give the club some credit; although it's extremely hard as I'm not a Mourinho fan either, nor am I a fan of Abramovich

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Expect Mr Abramovich to "defriend" you on Facebook now.}

Touche Dags :)

Ed, that happened a long time ago - it's a long standing rivalry that started over an argument about who had the better yacht.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no idea how chelsea works on their transfers but this logic of finding a gem in their buy young, loan and sell for high price can't go on forever. its working well and its helping them but like all business ideas, you need to keep changing the model.

besides just my take. having bought lukaku for 18 mill and selling him for 28 or schurrle for 18 and selling for 24 or mata for 22 and selling for 37 or luiz for 25 and selling for 37 its not exactly 100% profit. chelsea are as much to blame for inflated prices as much as Manchester United and real madrid are for starting the trend of insane prices.

besides no one talks about how we got cesc, or rvp or adebayor or anelka and counteless others for peanuts and made millions on them, and its derived as arsenal are a selling club, we buy two superstars and we are making a mistake overspending, while chelsea is shrewd.

while I like how chelsea keep evolving their squad, replacing parts when needed and selling at the opportune time, I also like our consistency and keeping core players and building a legacy on that. I would not want ramsey to be sold because he had one good season and Manchester United wanted him for 30 mill. no I want the player. I don't want some new kid for the sake of it.

i would like to see if mourinho can last more than 3-4 seasons without going bonkers and mutually agree to leave as PSG and paris have a lovely tour of the catacombs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a good read that lakes..

If your top of the pile and making money on transfers while winning the premier league your a genius who deserves great credit for it.
Mourinho is close to achieving what Arsene used to be the Master at but the biggest difference is Arsene won great respect and administration for not only doing it but doing it with dignity, mourinho might match the achievement but never the respect from outside the boot sale stadium.

My point is, getting Juventus to take Bendtner on loan for a season is the greatest piece of business the universe has ever seen

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with Lakerville

Goose I did get your point mate and it was, hands down, deal of the Century! ;-)

So it looks like sagna will be left out of man city's champions league squad
Got me thinking who has left our great club and gone on to bigger and better things and a first team regular. I can think of plenty that haven't
Adebayor
Nasri
Kolo toure
Rvp (1 good season)
Hleb
Fabregas
Song
Clichy
Overmars
Petit

Ashley cole is the only one I can think of that really kicked on and I regret going

If I were coquelin I would get that contract signed. Grass usually isn't greener on the other side - just the pay cheques are fatter

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would take cesc out of that list suffolk, but the others i agree on mate..

04 Feb 2015 09:18:46
Not sure on cesc ed. He ended up bombed out of barca but has been v good for Chelsea to be fair. If he'd stayed in the first place he would be our captain and I'm still not convinced he looks happy where he is

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - to play regular for barca and then star for chelsea can only be seen as a success suffolk, but i see only him from that list mate..

04 Feb 2015 09:33:47
I would remove Cesc from that list and replace him with Henry (although he did ok).

Agree0 Disagree0

Cesc is off the list, and Viera can go on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many league winners medal's does that list contain?
The proof they made a mistake leaving would be us winning the title and until that happens that will always be their answer and its a difficult one to beat if you talk fact not feelings

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair, Clichy will argue that he is regularly in the starting 11 for the current champions. Adebayor will point to his time at Real Madrid but no, he definitely belongs on that list.

Now to see if Bendtner and Pod can break that curse.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed RR, viera needs to go on the list

G62 has hit the nail on the head here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep well done G69

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Rosie and 73, I wish it wasn't true but it is, many on that list (not all) have gone on to have much more successful careers else where and their medal cabinet are healthier because of it.
That's for us and this generation of players to put right and make sure that any players who leave now look back in years to come and think BIG MISTAKE, HUGE!

Agree0 Disagree0

ADEBAYOR biggest waste in football. guys a clown

cesc i'd leave off. henry left when he was over the hill.

clichy he's not done amazing or rubbish. he was what 7mill solid signing for them.

håvard nordtveit I always liked this player.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2015 12:54:43
Agree with G62 - medals count.
RVP - yes, only one good season, but that season wasnt he golden boot, and won the PL - exactly the reason he stated as wanted to leave us, as felt he wouldn't achieve it with us.
Im sure he'll look at the move as a success unfortunately.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Feb 2015 13:39:52
Add Anelka also

Agree0 Disagree0

Anelka has had a solid career. glad he went we got henry.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think many in the list have that many regrets. i'm sure they sllep wellmat night and their trophy cabinets and bank balances speak volumes.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's a great shout SY4, Anelka fits the bill for me.

In a way, Vela? Also, Wiltord had a great time at Lyon. Clutching at straws here now I know.

And yes, ultimately you are obviously right Steve killjoy r. Except David Bentley who left Arsenal, went to Spurs, became depressed and took an early retirement.

Sorry Ed025, but has anybody ever seen photo's of a new player being presented by a club where the the player looks less pleased with the move than Arron Lennon with Everton.

He looks like misery incarnate, and I assume as these are the official ones by the club photographer they took many more and theses were the best of the lot.

You would think leaving Spurs might have cheered him up a bit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree gunny, a lot of the everton supporters are saying the same mate, as you say escaping from spurs should be seen as a joyous event, but it looks like arron would not smile even if he seen a chair walk!, the miserable sod..

I saw a chair walk once to help a table that had fallen over!

How the tables have turned eh ed.

Lennon will be a success i'm sure, he's been at spurs for most of his career and i'm sure he is nor relishing moving up north (no offence ed) it's cold up there!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its no place for southern softies 337, thats for sure..

Lennons tough mate, he shaves a little pattern in his eyebrow, that'll get him through!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ain't Lennon from Leeds? He's must be use to the cold after growing up on T dales chasing T whippet's and T pigeons

LVG in post match interview (Cambridge game).

"I don't think we played well. But it's very difficult against a team who played so defensively. 2 rows of 4 and even their 2nd striker was coming deep to defend".

I admire the man's CV, but he has no class.

Even Fergie and Mourinho would have praised their lower league opposition.

Sorry, but don't like the man at all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he's a man feeling the pressure Dags, he should chill a bit because I doubt united will sack two false fergies in two seasons.
He's got until the start of 2016 at least even if he missed out on the top 4 this season, Moyes mistreatment is his saving grace at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he reminds me of sloth from the goonies...i just cant take to the guy myself mate..

You wouldn't want to be stuck in lift with the bloke for any other reason than some one to take your frustration out on that's for sure Ed.
Will he do for utd what they hope he will? Let's hope not and they get the Thursday night league football they so richly deserve

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said in my post yesterday (which was strangely removed) UTD and CITY are probably going to struggle now that FFP has kicked in, they have a lot of older players with little resale value which need replacing soon,

e.g Anderson they paid something like £26m for and left on a free yesterday.

RVP, what will they do with him? Carrick?

I think they need to invest in top class replacements but some of there huge money signings look average in my opinion, how much was Di maria? Falcao should be flourishing too, and they are desperate for two top CB's, Smalling and jones were both a lot of money for young players and don't seem to be doing the job for them.

What Chelsea have done is working well and I think we are in a better position to build with the signings we've made and our youngsters starting to look like the real deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City are already suffering sanctions. Manchester United have the same FFP issue as Arsenal - and it is no big deal. The cost to buy and sell Anderson is of no relevance to their finances. You might just to better to avoid any financial discussion.}

04 Feb 2015 11:18:30
LVG is a bit of a weird guy. I don't think he means to disrespectful there though, he is just very very literal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed02, but my comment was more aimed at the fact that both those clubs will not be able to sell the players which need replacing for the type of money they need to spend to replace them. The FFP bit is a lot more complicated, I understand that.

I just feel that Chelsea have got it 100% right by letting players go early enough when they are not happy and getting top money for them, and very happy that we seem to have some very capable youngsters coming through now, that's all.

Not going down that route again ed don't worry

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The difference that MU has is that they are very profitable and that eases it. MC are not as profitable and much of their income is from sponsorship - some of which cannot be considered for FFP - so the situation is very different for each club.}

Thanks ed once again, these little bits of information help us to understand that things are not always as they seem in football, which is why it is so frustrating when some of our fans think we can just go and spend 10's of millions on players because they've heard we have money kicking it's heels in the bank!

I will leave you to get on with your busy schedule now, always a pleasure (you're my second favourite ed after 025 but don't tel 001 or 007)

Not sure how many games but he played most of our 06 champions league campaign there where we got to the final

If memory serves me right, he was used as a defender in the 2006 season in our CL campaign.

At Milan, he was used predominantly as a defender.

He has played there for Arsenal many times covering defensive injuries.

How many times?
Between Arsenal and Milan, I'm going to guess at least 50 times.

Agree0 Disagree0

He played there for most of the season and was very very good, which is why i'm suprised AW didn't use him there since his return.
