Come in our first signing : Sokratis Papastathopoulo 👍

Can't wait to hear our song for him.

Much needed to plug a hole at the back. One hole plugged, a few to go!

If you ask me - next priority is a proper CDM with a capital D!

Then a left winger followed by another CD.

Happy with all that SY mate, a keeper would be nice too but I don't think Cech is as poor as he looked last season I think he was just left totally exposed far to often by our pretty much non existent defence much of the time.
I don't think Mustafi will be turned around but maybe one of the young Greek CB Chambers or Holding might be by Emery, 2 of the 3 would be excellent suddenly giving us a surplus out of a shortage.

Fellaini. really?

Wouldn't happen.

Xhaka or Felliani?
I'd take Felliani personally, physical and always a threat in the box even though a long way from world class.
We've signed many worse, in fact we still have many worse.

How about we sign a whole squad of over 30 players and be in the same position next summer? Come on. If we are going to sign a CM, CDM, or any position for that matter, then he needs to be under 29 in my opinion. I would rather see Emery stick with Xhaka and see what he can do with the players we have then spend money on aging players. Unless they're world class and I mean 'WORLD' class. Free transfers are different again. If it improves the squad and gives us other options then that's fine.

I think fitting Ramsey and Ozil on the team at the same time has been a problem so far to our DM persuit in the market.
The solution has been putting Ramsey on a double pivot with Xhaka, but that way there's no room left for other player.
We can drop Xhaka, but if we're leads for some reports, Unai is very keen on him. Personally, I wouldn't drop him either.
So Fellaini make sense to me: a physical presence, EPL experienced and for free, to alternate or be used when thw situation warrants it.
Also, save us a lot of money, alowing to invest it in a GK or an expensive winger solution.

If he is the only signing, then its a worry, if he is one of 5 or 6 then great signing to give us some power in the squad. He has been a thorn in our side more than enough times.

I take Felliani also, option for the long ball up front and for some steel in midfield

Suspensions a plenty no doubt.

When Arsene first came to us we were the red card kings Banbury mate, but we were winning red card kings all the same mate :-)

04 Jun 2018 18:09:26
The same set of fans who criticse (d) Mourinho for using Fellaini would now like to 'hit it long, use his physicality and add steel' couldn't make it up🤣🤣.

18 18 your team has mour than its fair share of gourillas, one wouldn't do us any harm.

I would echo Steve’s thoughts although he won’twant to swap his Man U squad player status with an arsenal squad player status.

It took man city with all their money how many years to get from 8th to top 4?
We aren't skint but we don't have their money obviously, yes we will need to take free agents, over 30s plus bargin buys to turn us around simply because we most certainly are not just one or two players away, it's a major rebuild that if done well can be done relatively quickly (2 years minimum) and without billions but we can't simply magic money out of nowhere to replace all our underachieving players with the best in the business.
It won't take forever but it can't be done in a single window either, with or without billions to spend.

04 Jun 2018 21:31:21
Yeh the worst one Steve, he is an awful awful player, trust me you'd rather not have him at Arsenal, banter player!

04 Jun 2018 22:12:12
Have you seen our midfield? Hard to see how he could make it worse.

Fellaini is utter pants, if we are going to buy a gorilla at least buy a quality one! 🙄.

I'll drive him up to London in the back of the transit, just pay me for the diesel 😀.

I’ve always favoured the long ball when tip tap doesn’t work, it will give a plan B st least.

I wonder what the man u fans would have thought of us signing Kante Simpson Morgan Vardy and Mahrez 3 summers back?
I'm pretty sure they'd have given us stick in June but been a bit more noticeable by their abcents in May.
Anymore can waste 100s millions on players and turn them into 10s of millions worth of talent that is capable of winning a Europa league trophy a fantastic cup and a league cup by playing snooze time football, but it takes a little more thinking about and a lot more talent to assemble aside capable of winning big trophies and entertaining people along the way.
Felliani or Pogba at utd? What's the difference?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 10:18:50
62 the difference is one gives 100% and gets stuck in and seems to care.
The other trots around like a show pony.

I can understand if the likes of Maitland-Niles was pushed down the midfield pecking order if we bought in a top class CDM, but what kind of message would it say if we bought in Fellani ahead of him, even if it was for one or two seasons? Also Leahy12, genuine question, which one of your description is Fellani?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 13:14:44
Pogba is a show pony.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 13:24:33
Not sure he offers anything we should be interested in - long ball = no, unskillful = no, not a true CDM = no. tall lanky person who gets in the way - no need in our team. Let’s sign quality - old or young but not just anyone because they are free

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 15:05:09
Ha ha thanks for confirming Leahry, I have to confess show pony is a good description! My confusion was because you originally said you would happily drive Fellani down to us for the price of the diesel, but then you appeared to favorably compare him to Pogba. So my next question to you is, how low an opinion do you have of Pogba, a player who from a neutral perspective hasn't lived anywhere near his transfer fee, but who is still seems a very decent player, no?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 15:29:59
I'd rather keep fellani as a squad player cause he will give his all, effective when you need a bit of bite, in the last ten minutes if you need to defend a lead, good in his own box defending corners free kicks etc. good in opposition box might nick you a goal.
I'd take a big transfer fee for the show pony this minute.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2018 17:31:12
Interesting. He really is an enigma, as he can show signs of absolute brilliance followed by total dross or indifference all within minutes of each other. For me, for those times when he is on fire, I think i would gamble and just build the midfield around him, play to his ego, and make him the star pony, and see what happens (although of course that's probably why i am not a manager of a football team! )

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2018 10:57:53
Personally I always think any team should do there business before any tournament, in case the player has a good one and other teams and the price go up, I know there’s a chance of injury but that’s what I think.

Thanks for doing this ed, probably my favourite fighter in his youth.

Watched so many of his early fights, Trevor Berbick I’m pretty sure was the first and it was literally like the guy in the other corner was terrified of him before the bell even sounded.

How many parts is it in ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there are 13 pages (my lucky number). Sorry will take you a while to read through.}

04 Jun 2018 14:39:36
Spooky, my lucky number too ed, I took it over from my mum. We even lived at a number 13 which was a new build and she wouldn't let them skip straight to 14.

I’ll look forward to reading them all mate. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - unusual that, they do not normally have a 13. I always find it odd. I hope you enjoy it mate.}

I find tysons story inspirational, sad to think of how many people in the same positions story's end badly though, I've always loved how the baddest man on the planet had a soft spot for pigeons! 😂 Not sport related, but the most amazing rags to riches story I've read is genghis Khan, that story is mind blowing!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Genghis fascinates me. He was far from as bad as he was made out to be by the West. In fact, quite the opposite. He was much more enlightened and treated his people far better than the equivalent Western leaders. He wanted all his people to be educated.}

04 Jun 2018 21:53:09
It fascinates me too if it was a work of fiction it would be written off as far too unbelievable! 😂.
