Arsene Wenger and Jeremy Corbin! the similarities are uncanny.
Both reds through and through, both men of great integrity both, both men of great principles, both passionate about thier jobs.
Also
Both refusing to give up despite the odds against them being able to deliver victory increasing by the day, both immovable no matter how little support they carry within the group they represent.
If either were able to deliver victory from thier current positions they would make brexit and trumps victories look like a walk in the park :-)

Its getting embarrassing now. with bayern on the horizon we have just lost to a liverpool team with a dodgy defence that was exposed by leicester.

Not Seeing sanchez's name in the starting 11 gave liverpool a lift. if you're going to drop someone wenger, drop iwobi. the poor lad is having a poor run of games and needs a rest but good old wenger plays him.

Liverpool were ripped apart by leicester's pace but wenger picks snail pace giroud over our fastest players who were left on the bench. klopp must have been laughing his rocks off

Wengers inept tactics are our downfall, he sits silent on the bench letting below par players destroy our season when most managers would be screaming up and down the touchline.

i used to feel sorry for wenger not wanting him to destroy his legacy but now he needs to leave. It would be best for the club and him.

Could not agree more. Wenger totally inept. It's like he wants to get fired. How he opted for air instead of pace after Leicester game is a joke. Any other big club would of sacked him years ago, we are a laughing stock.

04 Mar 2017 19:28:46
No one can defend what happened tonight, only wenger can leave your best player in the team by a mile on the bench and put donkey giroud in his place. Psg you can have him but I doubt you want him really. If wenger is keeping us waiting and his options open then the board should have the balls to step in now and release him immediately. Another totally embarrassing performance from a manager passed his sell by date.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

04 Mar 2017 20:54:56
All of that may be true Steve but it's got way past embarrassing for everyone at Arsenal now.
No one is shocked by how poor the team can be any more the real talking point each and every week is now 100% Arse his decisions his his total unaccountability for his own decisions and his teams performance's.
At any other club in the world he would be replaced but at Arsenal it's anyone's guess if he will be here next season the one after that, it seems totally his decision and to me he seems incapable of giving up something that means so much to him personally no matter how right it might be to do so for everyone including himself.

If Wenger decides to stay, he will.

If Wenger decides to leave, he will.

If Wenger decides to go upstairs, he will.

Never, in the history of football, has a manager had so much power at a club. (Maybe SAF, but he won trophies on a regular basis) .

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 21:55:07
I think it's plain to see has been for a while. We just need to let this season run its course. Not getting top 4 would be a disaster . It's not like the previous years when we have been in this possition! I always knew we would get top 4! The team the club and everyone around has their heads up there arse, fans included. No chapms league next year I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 22:01:32
Gunner he is clinging on to something he doesn't deserve in the hope that something else comes up so he can carry on in football, how is that good for arsenal football club that he says he loves. What position is this club going to be in before some action takes place, we aren't going to win the champs league or the league, we may win an fa cup and we may still get fourth but that looks more and more remote every week. I said at the start of this season, wengers record against maureen, klopp and pep was poor and he would struggle against them and he is. Throw in conte who turned him around and we are struggling because of that.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 22:43:23
Dags does he have the power because of the board mentality, yes of course he does and we should be worried. That's not good at all.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 22:51:19
Would even Fergie have been able to go 10 years with a title let alone a single credible title challange Dags?
I think even Fergie would have been removed at Utd if his record over 5 years had resembled Arsenes over the last 10 years mate.

Steve/ G62,
Exactly, and that is the problem.

As a business model, we are market leaders. Minimal expectation, maximum profit.

As a football club, we are just a corner shop.

MG - I am awake. The board accepts and sets us up for top 4. They are happy with that. That's all I am saying, as was Rio. That needs to change.

I then stated that's no excuse for today - I was trying to say this as a separate point as we have lots of issues at the club and it starts with the board and it's attitude. No different from any company. They set the expectations.

Not at the races in the 1st half at all, Liverpool wanted in more and showed far more energy and drive, they just wanted it more. We were also far too narrow in the first half. Better in the 2nd half and made a game of it but why are we relying on one player in Sanchez to give us that energy and desire, question marks over the mentality and attitude of these players yet again, with Liverpool winning most 50/50 and pressing together as team.

Some players are simply not good enough. Our fullbacks are real concern for me defensively we need upgrades here fro sure, both are a liability. It is clear we miss Cazorla badly in midfield not sure what both Le Coq and Xhaka offer to be honest apart from yellow cards.

Why did Welbeck come off and Iwobi stay on? Not sure was Iwobi started ahead of Sanchez as he doesn't offer much more height. .

I wanted us to sign Mane in the summer - could have been a useful signing for us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Mar 2017 19:38:11
Wellbeck has scored, looked dangerous. and he was ready to play. i absolutely agree, we looked like one down with Iwobi. don't take me wrong i like this guy but he was terrible tonight.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 20:26:31
I don't care what is said publicly no way was the Sanchez dropping tactical, Arsene may no longer be the fantastic manager he once was and his tactics in the past have at times been baffling but there is no way he's gone from a football mastermind to a complete novice.
Whatever the reason he dropped our best player it backfired on him in the second half because of it was by some stretch of the imagination tactical it was totally irrational and if it was a show of strength for some reason bringing him on at half time showed exactly who had the strongest hand.
Whatever the reason it had to work in Arsenes favour and unfortunately for him its done exactly the opposite.
Am i gutted by the result and performance? Not really it's no real surprise it's nothing that hasn't happened lots of times before in recent season's, am i absolutely gutted to see things ending so badly for Arsene Wenger the man? Totally.
It's not nice at all to watch the man who gave us our greatest years ever look so increasingly more and more unable and incapable to do the job everyone wants and expects for Arsenal football club, and by everyone I include Arsene himself in that too.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 19:34:54

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 21:42:41
52- true.
Wenger relies on his players to do the right thing and keep their shape. This works well with a creative team with a disciplined back 5 but struggling at present

I don't believe he is an idiot but we are really struggling on the pitch. We are also making odd decisions with our limited resource (cash) . Our cash reserves are low and we have not invested well for short term gains.

Very worrying and I really want Wenger to succeed - for his legacy as well as our great club.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 22:46:37
Sy what on earth did cash have to do with tonight. Liverpool are in the black this season compared to us, we ended the season in second and spent 100+ mil. don't use that as an excuse, its not.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 23:35:46
Steve - where have I blamed cash. Read my comments - I have said we have made strange investments.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2017 00:45:11
I criticised our use of cash which is a limited resource.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2017 01:40:09
Whats limited? we spent over a hundred million more than liverpool this summer. The only thing that is limited is some of the players we bought or didn't. Our tactics are limited and our defence is limited and our mentality is limited.

I usually just come on here to read others points of view but after that shower of whatever you want to call it i am going to bleat. I have finally had enough of the same crap story, year after year after year i have thought maybe things are going to change. But, year after year after year we show the same gutless performances in games we need to win. There is more to football than making money Arsene, the whole point of football is the celebration of lifting trophies at the end of the season. We will no doubt end up scoring our usual couple of goals against Bayern on tuesday or whenever so people wil say " we were so unlucky, we put up a good fight". I am tired of saying it myself now, Wenger has to go at the end of the season or spend the millions he has banked on players that have passion and the will to succeed. I am fuming at the way we played today, there was nothing "Arsenal" about it (well not the old arsenal way anyway) . I am afraid to say that the new arsenal way is just not good enough. Rant over sorry if i repeat everyone elses thoughts but hey ho.

This is just the beginning of the end! It's going to get worse! Sanchez to leave and a new manager taking over a nightmare. The only way we can possibly not let it get worse next season is throw a load of money at it and then if we don't have champions league then the money might not be there or attract the players needed. If a new manager comes in with hands tied then we will here "be careful what you wish for "

Just an update boys.
I haven't seen Wenger lately in Waitrose at Barnet.
I normally sit in the car with him in the car park have a hot drink and a croissant and talk about football.
I'm just going to pop round his house and see his wife to find out if he's ok.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Arsenal Fans and Football Fans In General always clamour on about loyalty and about how it is short supply nowadays, yet it seems it's a one way street in their eyes.

Am looking at the treatment Mesut Ozil is getting from our very own fans and its sad to see. Instead of being backed, he's being scapegoated and ridiculed and the worst vitriol comes from us.

He has had a dip in form since December but he's still one of our best players by far and one of the best in the league. Bayern had 74% possession, what is a no. 10 supposed to do without the ball.

Instead of backing our player of the season last year and at times our talisman, we're pushing him out of the door. I Want Mesut Ozil to stay because he is class, plays spellbinding football at times and because he is my favourite footballer in the World. I hope he stays to prove he's doubters and detractors wrong.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

04 Mar 2017 11:18:37
Mesut its my favourite player too Positive mate, I couldn't believe it when he joined us as I never thought he would come to us.
But I do want to see him leave simply because he is wasting his career with us, I think Kos has already wasted his best years with us and I think it would be sad to see both Ozil and Sanchez do the same.
Of course I want Arsenal to have the likes of Sanchez Ozil and Kos playing for us but not for the sake of it, if we are not going to use them to be all we can be it's just a waste of great talent.
Cech has had his glory with Chelsea and staying in London was his number one aim so I can see why he would be happy at Arsenal, Belerin has a super future ahead of him and why should he settle for top 4 and champions league last 16 ambition of Arsenal, he's way to good for that.
The rest of the squad can have no complaints because who would buy them than could offer more than what we can? I don't see Bayern Real Barcelona Chelsea or City coming in with big money offers for anyone but Sanchez Ozil Kos or Belerin and if Arsenals ambitions don't match their own all I can say is " thanks for giving a go sorry it hasn't gone well, I'm also really sorry to see you go but I totally understand why you want to and wish them the very best of luck for the future.

Im afraid in this game everyone is paid a massive amount of money to perform and do the job they are paid for. If you don't deliver you are yesterdays chip paper, that's the nature of the beast. Anyone who is paid a large amount of money and doesn't do his job, when they are in the public eye is there to be shot at by millions. Because the people who do the shooting generally have to earn every penny and have to perform, or else.

Two matches of huge consequence coming up. We need to avoid defeat in both games to avoid the mounting pressure on Wenger. Times of change are clearly ahead with Jonker and Ljungberg departed, Sanchez and possibly Ozil look likely to move on. Wenger and I would assume some members of his backroom staff may also leave. It's quite strange as we have been used to stability in general for over two decades. If Wenger gets, expect Alegri to replace him.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

04 Mar 2017 08:53:35
I think today's game will be a draw and if I had to pick a score line it would be 3 3 as Liverpool are worse than us at the back but better attacking wise.
As for change I think bit this is the season its all change in North London and we will finish below Tottenham for the first time in two decades, last season when we were 5 points behind them with 5 games to go I always thought we would continue our north London domination but also knew Spurs were very much on the up and if we didn't improve last season would be Arsenes final above Spurs finish.
Top 4? I think
Chelsea
City
Spurs
With 4th place very much between us and Utd as I discounted Liverpool long ago as not being good enough yet as klopp still has a few bits to do there first imo, although I don't think we are particularly better than Liverpool our players manager and club do have a built in top 4 metatality that can not be totally discounted from kicking in as always but I do think its going to be tougher than ever to make it this time round as Mourinho has turned untied around and to me they will have 4th possibly even Spurs and 3rd very much in their sights.
The times they are a changing for sure but still I'm not sure Arsene or Arsenal football club are anywhere near ready for change yet and I'd be shocked if Arsene doesn't start next season as Arsenal manager no matter how things end up this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 09:00:42
I think we will get well beaten today . Teams out of form tend to turn up against arsenal, can't see us winning, not sure what stats are but from memory I don't think our results are good on Sat late kick offs, hope I'm wrong and we win 4-3, for entertainment value but can't see it.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2017 09:28:04
We're not usually good after a long lay off either Rick but I think Liverpool are as inconsistent as us and we might be happy to leave with the point we started with while Liverpool will be disappointed with only a draw.
Not sure how long it's been since Liverpool did the double over us in a season, anyone know?

A 200 mill spend for next season might do it if we are serious contenders.
If there is to be a clear out like most people want then do the maths. Unless we are going to replace like for like or to the young players coming through .

Believable0 Unbelievable2

04 Mar 2017 07:18:19
If Wenger stays, then there will be no Β£200m spend. We will be forced to sell Sanchez and possibly Ozil. Others that may move on are; Ospina, Debuchy, Jenkinson, Campbell, Wilshere, Gibbs, Sanogo!, Szczesny and Chambers. There must also be question marks over; Giroud and Ox. A new manager may have to spend big to replace Sanchez and bring in a quality left back, a playmaker and a top notch striker.

Too easy for everyone to get on Ramsey's back, if he was played in attacking centre midfield we'd see the best of him, playing out of position waste of time, play him instead of Ozil.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

04 Mar 2017 11:34:50
Absolutely, playing him wide right is absurd and although Ozil is clearly a superior player, he is inconsistent and on his poor days, he is really poor. Can anyine remind me what position Ramsey played in during the season he scored lots of goals.
