As far as red cards are concerned, can anyone enlighten me why rose got a yellow and torreira a red. Opinions please.

Pea got it badly wrong from 12 yards and officials made mistakes too, I doubt very much Pea missed the penalty deliberately or the ref made his mistakes deliberately eithe.
When Messi and Ronaldo stop misplacing passes missing penalties and score with every shot they have I will consider changing my opinion on officials being mere mortals who just like everyone else on earth are fallible.
People get things wrong mate, you me everyone.

Simple mate, the referees had a shocking performance and bottled the calls big time. This goes for both sides as I'm viewing this objectively.

Rose yellow, Torreira red. Xhaka not penalised for tackle on Kane from behind. Kane not called offside. Very soft penalty for Auba. Vertonghen encroaching on the area by a good 3 metres and penalty not retaken.

Personally I can't wait to see VAR in action.

Ive heard garth crooks (i know what he is) and others saying torreiras was a disgusting foul and no mention for rose. I know there is bias but surely there is no difference, red or yellow.

The referee and his assistants gave a terrible display in the match against the toot. The current crop of English refs are dreadful.
Two incidents that enhanced my displeasure with the current disciplinary system were the fact that Kane and Sanchez managed to get off being punished after indigents against Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively. Kane should have received a 3 match ban for placing his head against a Chelsea player and Sanchez for his cowardly kick at Koscielny against us. Apparently the ref saw Sanchez's kick and therefore it was deemed dealt with. If the ref did dee it then it was a red card offence and the ref should be punished for his utter incompetence.
In respect of the Rose challenge, it was every bit as bad as Torreira's, arguably a fraction worse. Of course VAR needs to be used and I believe it is making a return next season. In NBA the officials watch replays together and make a decision.

VAR has to be a good thing of course anything that can help the referee has to be, but please don't be upset the first time the Ref misses an Arsenal handball or foul in our own box but changes his mind and gives a penalty against us :-)
Just like every other team we will lose as much as we gain from more correct decisions.
Without a doubt the toughest job on a football pitch is that of a ref especially with 22 TV cameras picking up every mistake and highlighting them after endless slow motion replays, the refs mistake lives long after the strikers poor penalty is long forgotten.
Humans? Who'd be one :-)

Forgot about the kick Robbie, good point. Easily a card from most refs.
