So Mesut Ozil is getting his driveway retarmacked, which means he's staying.

{Ed002's Note - Or preparing his house for sale.}

Add to that Sanchez put under floor heating in his kitchen and Wenger has painted his garage floor I think it's safe to say there will be a few more leaving in the summer.

Also although he hasn't had it done yet, Welbeck has had a number of quotes for getting artificial grass laid in his back garden.

I appreciate artificial grass is an unusual name for a woman but there you go. 😱.

I think Ed025 is a tarmacer by trade.

Did you put a quote in Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i should have dags it would have been my summer paid for, i have worked for a few players like ryan babel, jermaine pennant and neil danns, they are good to work for as price is not the biggest issue, i would like to do some work for arsene at his new place in france hopefully.. :)

05 May 2017 08:09:32
Ed,
Fairplay mate but not too sure if your yellow budgie smugglers would get through French Customs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im sure if a couple of custom officers are gooners then they will be more than happy to overlook my shortcomings in tha department dags.. :)

05 May 2017 09:54:31
I doubt it ed. the last person you want to meet in customs is a gooner at the moment we're all suicidal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its not been great SLB but your still one of the elite mate and i cant see that changing anytime soon..

05 May 2017 12:29:26
All angles covered Ed lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you have to have savvy when your ion the paving game dags.. :)

05 May 2017 17:42:03
Price certainly wouldn't be an issue on Arsene's pad in France ED025 mate, I'm sure you could retire on what an hour's crowd funding amoung gooners would raise to fund that particular project right now :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you are probably right mate..

On a train outside Edinburgh today when I heard one local say to another "but I just don't get it. If that veteran Prince Philip can see it's time to call it a day, why can't Arsene Wenger? "

Well I suppose it's a new and slightly different spin on just seeing the banners pop up at just about any event in any part of the world.

With Ozil apparently demanding 300k a week and Sanchez turning down 250k a week do you think that players will have us over a barrel if we can't guarantee CL football?

Either way I think it will be a lot harder than previous years to attract players now that there is a lot more foreign investment in the Premier League [its no longer just your Chelski and Man shitty who have the cash to bring in top stars]

Would like to hear your thoughts on it.

Well S68 the fact that Champions league looks highly unlikely and Wenger certainly has lost this aura about him where as players wanted to come and play for him, i think its reasonable to think we are going to struggle to attract the top players. On top of this Sanchez and Ozil who on paper are our best players are looking to leave, Arsenal doesn't look the right place to come to right now.

S68, not being in the CL next season shouldn't singularly stop us signing decent players in the summer. I mean Man Utd manged to sign Pogba, Mkhitaryan (both from clubs qualified for the CL) and Ibrahimovic despite not being in the CL. However sadly I feel the issue that will stop us signing big players is the lack of apparent leadership at the club from both the owner and manager at the perceived decline of our football, and that our missing out on CL this season is not just a temporary blip but a sign of things to come. I suspect that if Allegri came in as manager in the summer with a transfer budget to boot (and possibly a CL trophy attached to his name) I can't see too many players turning us down just because were not in the CL next season, can you?

A lot of the players we might want will be in their early 20s so have no recollection of Arsenal and Arsene being a real force in the game, they will only know what they've read or been told about and to this generation of players City and Chelsea have always been Premier league giants who attract top players to work with the top managers they employ.

Ours and Arsene reputations are based on past achievements which isn't really relevant to the players of today.

Chelsea have Conte and recent success City have Pep and recent success Utd have Mourinho Liverpool Klopp and Spurs have the up and coming Poch to offer potential signings and Arsenal and Arsene have old paper clippings and Vhs videos to show.
There is nothing new or modern at Arsenal currently to attract anyone with options.

We should of tied them down early one. Also weird how sanchez only joined on a 4 year deal. Always baffled me.

We offered van dijk 150k a week times are changing.

He would be one of my top targets if i was manager Derby. Despite all our recent signings we still lack a core and a physicality in the team. Van Dijk would be a fantastic start to correct both. Slap a decent GK behind (maybe 2 seasons time - Butland would get my vote if he shows he is over his injury) , add a DM, which we still don't really have, and a 20+ striker.

We could of had him for Β£12 million ages ago now they are talking Β£50 million.

Now this may sound strange to some but I believe we need to buy players that can get the best out of ozil. Look at last season you can see the guy is class and on his day is the best at what he does. We need a striker that makes intelligent runs and also a cazorla type player who can bring the ball from deep and set up play and move the ball quicker and with purpose.

I imagined when Welbeck became available we may have a front 3 of Sanchez, Welbeck and Walcott. Walcott had been scoring and was looking good.

Welbeck came back and scored I think on his return but when all 3 played together for the first time I'm sure we lost and looked bloody hopeless.

I accept Walcott and Welbeck are no really top draw but I just thought those front 3 might suit his vision and passing.

I think it coincided with us starting to look shocking in defence too so that and the fact Walcott and Welbeck are pretty average made it all come to nowt.
