just for fun.
you can keep the same 4-5-1 formation or you can go back to the more traditional 4-4-2 formation, but you have a choice who you can partner up front with giroud. would it be.
A) bergkamp
B) henry
C) wright.
so, stick to 4-5-1 or opt for 4-4-2?
me? 4-4-2 thierry and olly up front with a midfield of ozil, flamini, cazorla and walcott

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't make it too easy DG will you mate :-) can't I have them all and rotate?

To chose one is difficult but I would take Bergy simply because the thought of him and Ozil in the same team is enough reason to build a super Emirates with 1,000,000 capacity and limit every one to one game per year to to keep up with demand for tickets to see the class on grass greatest show on earth

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol g62, good shout mate but I would worry that ozil and bergy are just a little too similar. what a match up though.
going to stick with thierry and olly up front and stick bergy on the bench lol (bergy sub? am I sure lol)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ps G62. "class on grass". great saying mate, love it

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with daggunner G62 s post is truly great . Class on grass. legendary!

Been a very enjoyable week both on the pitch and on this site, it really is a great time to be a gooner.
In the words of Nev from the call centre I LOVE IT, ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

Sunday will be a really tough game just like Swansea was last week of course if we win some people will say they or even we ain't played the top teams yet but very few teams will go to swaneea and west brom and get 6 pts this season and if we do, be it 1 0 or anything better than that it will be a massive achievement.

Us Gooner quite rightly called Tuesday a statement game, for me Sunday is every bit as much so

Believable0 Unbelievable0

G62, please please please please oh pretty please don't predict the result lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear your plea's DG me old mate and I think you me and the world could do with out my score predictions as they are as useful as Jack having an ash tray fitted to his Harley Davidson :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, glad you agree lol

Agree0 Disagree0

For me its Thierry all day! Bergkamp was a magical player but what thierry did, being the clubs all time leading goal scorer and third in the prem it has to be him!Not saying Bergkamp didn't score magical goals but the ones henry scored against Real (all time fav) and against the spurs and united it has to be him!

With competition for places in a World Cup year I hope our form spills over to the weekend.

Would be a huge step to go on break in first place

So at some point in most likely the near future (next 3 years) Wenger is going to step down from manager of the club and take on a new role within the Arsenal family. With that said who would we like as a replacement?

Do we go unrealistic and go for Guardiola who I personally think hasn't proved himself. now wait before you jump down my throat. He inherited a great squad at Barcelona and in fairness anyone could have managed them to the success they achieved with him as they were by far the best team in the world at that time. With his move to Bayern he has inherited arguably the best team in Europe at present as was seen this past week where they made Man City look like sunday league players at times.

Then there is Mourinho who I personally don't want near my club as I think he is a disruptive influence an goes to club for 3 -4 years spends a tonne of money and then says bye.

Then there is the romantics among us who say Bergkamp, Adams et al. Not for me in a coaching role all day long but not as the top dog they haven't got the experience.

I have 4 managers in my mind at present with a bit of a romantic edge on 1 of them.

First choice Jürgen Klopp for me looks to have the same values and beliefs that Wenger and Arsenal share. He is not afraid to invest in youth and likes a fluid passing game.

Second Choice Antonio Conte he has proved himself all be it in a weaker Italian set up but has dropped down leagues to learn and craft his trade winning Serie B with Bari that led to his move to Atlanta where he got found wanting and moved to Sienna winning them promotion to Serie A. This led him to Juventus where he has won the Scudetto.

Third choice Frank De Boer who has the dutch mentality of passing flowing football and has grown up as a player and manager with Ajax as everyone knows famed for their excellence in producing talent. He was touted as a potential Liverpool manager but wanted to continue to learn and craft his trade at Ajax.

Fourth choice and the romantic element Steve Bould. He has learnt and crafted his trade with Arsenal coming up through the junior team management and knows what Arsenal want inside and out and is currently learning from the best we have ever had in Wenger.

Just some thoughts let me know yours

You can add Diego Simone and Remi Garde to that list. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Bergkamp.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Jurgen Klopp was out of the picture, I genuinely believe Michael Laudrup would suit you guys down to the ground. Guy has a lot of class, and with a couple more years in the game at Swansea believe he will be ready to make the step.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think stojkovic will be on the short list from grampus 8

Agree0 Disagree0

No disrespect to big Tony because he was a fantastic player captain and as brave loyal and committed as anyone could ever ask anyone to be.

But to hear his name even mentioned romantically or in other way when talking about Asenes successor make me shudder.

I saw and worse still HEARD enough at Portsmouth to frighten me for the rest of time.
Sorry Tony love the bloke but terrified of the manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Klopp or Laudrup. Maybe even Martinez depending on how he does at Everton. Don't want Garde or the Serb bloke whose supposedly wenger's mentor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Er, Original AG, Wenger is HIS Mentor and has been for years! Stojkovic was always seen by Arsene as his successor but he was offered the No. 2 job here a number of years ago and turned it down so now it's not nailed on. I agree that if Klopp continues to do amazing things at BVB and Laudrup continues his success at Swansea they are very much in the running. Martinez? - don't make me laugh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil 24 Ramsey's 22 Gibbs 24; and no need to use the P word when talking about them now, Wilshere Ox Theo Jenkinson are all within touching distance so don't see Arsene going any where in next 5 to 7 years he's waited to long to not enjoy the fruits of his work.
By then we could be talking about completely new candidates or have our own home grown

Agree0 Disagree0

I think michael laudrup is proving to be a very good manager. I like him because he just let's his team do the talking. my choice everytime. I admire mourinho but at same time he always tries to be bigger than the club he is managing. and his teams play a bit too defensive for my liking (although to be fair he has won champs league twice by playing defensively and stifling the opposition)

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't mind seeing Prandelli, especally if that came with the signing of ballotelli

So for years of telling myself that the only reason I didn't make it has a professional footballer was mainly due to my dedication to smoking (I'm no quitter).

So with the picture of Jack having a crafty cigarette along with pass greats caught with a fag in their mouth (Zidane, Ibra etc) I'm faced with the realisation that there's a very strong possibility that I didn't make it to the top due to me being sh*t,
I need a cig.

Question-
What makes a cigarette 'crafty'.
Is it just the one you get caught with or does it apply to the other 19 throughout the day?

"Jack passes to Ozil, who passes it on to Rosicky, who feeds it through to Rambo."
"Yeah that's great lads, but now put the bong down and play some football."

Can't wait to see Cazorla alongside Özil .

Smoking a cig now and then does not really affect you, but the issue is, that its never really one, and it also accompanies drinks and so on.

sports science has shown the effects of Alcohol and cigs, on an athletes body. I am not going to mention it here, suggest you watch the documentary.

there is a reason the likes of messi and ronaldo don't do either, or do so in absolute moderation.

a footballer's career is short. in 10-12 years its over, and then you can smoke and drink all you like.

im not judging anyone who smokes, as I do so myself, however I am aware of how I feel if I smoke, if I have a 5 a side game or I go mountain biking and so on. they just don't mix.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice post Flybo
I was prepared to give up the fags to be pro footballer, not happy but prepared if that's what it took

But I drew the line at working weekends and evenings, that's no life for a young bloke.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can add Fabian Barthez to the list of greats who smoked. :-p

Agree0 Disagree0

Özil when he was at madrid

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgive me if I slander an innocent man but if my memory serves me correctly a true Arsenal legend - Peter Simpson - used to really smoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene on the opening day against vila, so heavily his mouth and nose couldn't keep up and it was coming out his ears

did anybody see what ozil did in the warm up to the swansea game?
he spat out his gum, kicked it in the air and caught it back in his mouth again. now that my friends, is the sign of a world class player lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Confidence, Özil has enough of that for the team.
I can sit here all night and talk about Özil, like Wednesday sat with a citeh fan and he said silva is better then Özil?
Not a chance.
At the min Özil has brought so much to our team it's unreal, every position as improved:) this is what we all want.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozil is an amazing player that's for sure and his magic extends far beyond the pitch.

Arsene looks 10 years younger, I feel 30 years younger like an over excited school kid and we are once again admired and respected by top teams and players.
Not bad for his first month in the job,

Can't wait to see what his next tricks going to be

Agree0 Disagree0

Just watched it DG, absolutely love the cheeky happy smile afterwards, looking as happy with us as we are with him

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't care if its mata, silva, oscar, hazard, rooney, isco, gotze, kroos,

no one. and I mean absolutely no one is better than him at the no10 position.

he is the best end of.

i would agree that he is not our best player at the moment. goes to rambo. but through the season, he will show why he is who he is.

germany's best player, Madrid's most influential player and Arsenal's best player, and the best player in the EPL.

End of season awards will reflect the same. for now we make some freaking noise. make the emirates a fortress.

as far as the away fans are concerned. I am not going to tell them what to do. they have been putting the home crowd to shame since I started watching Arsenal, back in 1992.

Agree0 Disagree0

G62, yes the cheeky smile was the icing on the cake lol.

laker, you are correct, even mourinho said ozil is the best no.10 in the world and if its good enough for jose its good enough for me
