Think I agree with Robbie Savage that we will end up 3rd behind Chelsea and City but I think we will be quite close and in with a shout unlike previous years.
If we can add at Xmas then puts us in a great position for next season but think we may just lack that little bit defending and a little going forward that we can't win the league.
If we had strengthened more in one of the areas eg CDM / CD then I think that would have made it very very interesting.

SY4
I think we are a bit off yet, but hopefully we will keep on moving closer .
We don't want to be down at 7th with a massssssive wage bill,

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that is Wengers plan, to spread the cost, we have players on long term contracts so what we see is what we can keep.

I expect another Summer window giving us another 30 odd million £ signing

Agree0 Disagree0

SY4,

3rd for me too mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be closer than seven points I can't see it. Chelsea have added very very well. Mangala will be a big player for city too.

I hope i'm very very wrong tho

Just for Dags

My wife and I went to the ROYAL SHOW and one of the first exhibits we stopped at was the stud bulls. We went up to the first pen and there was a sign attached that said,

' THIS BULL MATED 50 TIMES LAST YEAR '. My wife playfully nudged me in the ribs . Smiled and said, 'He mated 50 times last year, that's almost once a week.'

We walked to the second pen which had a sign attached that said, ''THIS BULL MATED 150 TIMES LAST YEAR'. My wife gave me a healthy jab and said, 'WOW~~That's more than twice a week! . You could learn a lot from him.'

We walked to the third pen and it had a sign attached that said, in capital letters, 'THIS BULL MATED 365 TIMES LAST YEAR'

My wife was so excited that her elbow nearly broke my ribs, 'That's once a day . You could REALLY learn something from this one.'

I looked at her and whispered in her ear. 'Go over and ask him if it was with the same cow every time. '

04 Sep 2014 16:35:27
If you want something to work the exact way you want it too, you have the resources and knowledge to make it yourself, do you let someone else make it for you or do you make it yourself.
You make it yourself, perhaps this is where the solutions to our remaining defensive problems lie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Saint
What are you on about you Plonker.
lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Explain Saint :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint was having a Cantona moment, let him be, he wants to follow ze trawler!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I'm saying le prof might want to develop a centre back himself rather than buy someone else's half cooked player with habits etc which make a managers job harder

On the subject of the 'poll of the day' I really think that a salary cap would work wonders in England.

I don't believe that putting a salary cap on a player will ever happen because there's no way any body should dictate a persons earnings.

I had an idea and i'm not taking full credit as i'm sure somebody else has thought of it because it is pretty obvious, I think that there should be a cap on teams wages as a whole say every team in the BPL should have a set amount of wages per week for players.

so if you would like to pay a 28 year old CF who has a bad record of long term injuries 350k p/w ;) that's your choice entirely I understand there will be so many ifs and buts and loopholes but i'm just thinking out loud more than anything?

so considering the transfer window is shut, I would like to hear my fellow gooners and possibly any Eds opinions.

Thanks in advance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BILL

Its been an improvement on our squad, whether or not its enough I doubt it
But I wouldn't want arsenal to pay those figures, footballs gone silly
stinks of a desperation

Agree0 Disagree0

I like your thinking Bill. Put caps for the teams rather than the players. But am sure it would never work. The big teams would take the Premier league to labour court me thinks

I've decided that instead of the so called cool gang being in operation, we should start up a Deadly Dan Fan Club.

Applications below:

Looks like someone has fallen green(y) with envy. With 'jokes' like that it's no surprise I'm in dags 'cool gang' is it?

Either way being arsenal related i'm sure its going to be unaffordable for most ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

The prices are exhorbitant and there's limited success but we mean well and look pretty whilst doing it!

I have to say I was really impressed with Danny's comments in his first interview, in particular how he sees his role within our style of play and how he can benefit from it. That plus his cameo for England last night and I am starting to feel very optimistic that we may have got ourselves a bargain.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Sep 2014 14:18:54
I thought Welbeck was cr@p and was gutted when he signed. But I must admit, he is slowly growing on me. Since he is already here now, I hope he comes good. One attribute that he has that I like is PACE! Come on Danny, serve me some humble pie won't ya?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Sep 2014 14:50:19
"But I must admit, he is slowly growing on me. "

Mate, is Welback some new breed of Fungi?:-):-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2014 17:07:36
Or maybe just maybe if u cut through the media bs and gauge your OWN opinion instead of following the crowds u realise some players ain't as bad as u are told?

Danny will not let u down, if u dnt get 4th it won't be because of him. It will be because wenger crazy reluctency to purchase cover for your team.

I really like danny, he's a good lad and at arsenal i'm sure he's at another club that will allow him to stay that way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck is 100% improvement on Sanogo.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2014 13:48:56
Re the Pole about Salary caps, yes if you can get every single country in the world to agree but that will never happen.
So no it won't benefit because each league wants the best players and all it takes is one country to say no and they won't have a salary cap so naturally, all the best players will go play there.
We have a salary cap here in Australia and its great for our own brand of football (AFL) because no on else plays it.
As far as our real football league (The A league), it will never be at the same calibre as your leagues because we can't attract the great players when in their prime.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

SYDNEY
you would if you payed um 350k a week

04 Sep 2014 12:36:09
hi eds, seen today that arsenal have been linked with free agent nilmar? don't believe that one myself. just wondered if you knew anything? thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Twitter is this? Welbeck signed - why would Arsenal want Nilmar?}

04 Sep 2014 12:29:22
On the same note as JMuk, in Fox Sports LA they mentioned that we inquired for Diego Lugano who is also free, any truth to that Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Almost certainly not. If there is the player knows nothing of it.}

04 Sep 2014 12:05:52
What are the practicalities of recalling a player from loan. let's; as an example, imagine that arsenal needed to bring back a defender back into the squad. I don't know, say jenkinson. How would they go about that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They would have needed to put a clause in the loan deal that says the can terminate it for a certain amount of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2014 08:33:23
I think the players need to be expressing their sense of fun a bit more on the pitch like Bergy and Merson covering the their mouths goal celebration, they laughed and we laughed with them.
Henry was as brilliant a character as he was player and we loved that side of him, Balotelli will inject some very funny moments for Liverpool this season that their fans will laugh about all aweek.
Off the pitch and in preseason Poldolski Ox Theo are all up for the crack, I remember last preseason Ramsey trying to give an interview pitch side after the game and Ox Theo and Jenks all warming down just behind him trying to put him off.
We need that fun during games, fun celebrations again, seeing the players relaxed and enjoying their football playing to the crowd after goals like they used to.
The more you enjoy your job the better you are at doing it, that's for sure

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well for now everyone can laugh about a certain purple female pleasure giving device

Deadly Dan for me Golds.

Agree0 Disagree0

The more I think about it, Danger Dan is winning me over by the day. Pace, power, age, premiere league expierience, european expirience, international experience, versatility and attitude are all positives in favour of
Dynamic Dan.

What a difference a day makes, well a couple of days to be more accurate.
Danny has quickly gone from what the fun
To what a signing,
Is this sudden realization or per desperation on our part?
I never thought Danny was as bad as people said he was for utd or England but neither do I think he's suddenly become the hottest prospect in the PL some of his old team mates are now saying.
He a excellent team player who is certainly not work shy and has a fair amount of skill too but please let's give him all season not just a few games because we suddenly expect too much to soon from him.
If he's brilliant from day one fantastic but let's not expect that from him

MAN UTD FAN - Coming in peace.

Edzee I love your optimism. I hope DW kisses his badge when he scores against his old team? Just so i'm not disappointed can you tell me how it felt when RVP did it for us against you?

To the other Fans with passion for the game

I personally think DW will become a legend for AFC. I think he was played out of position at MUFC on the wing. If he had been played as a striker he would have flourished, but the trouble with utd is they had no bite in the midfield so he did not receive many balls through to him.

AFC have great Midfield play and sometimes a joy to watch, I therefore believe Danny maybe one mufc come to regret.

I loved the days of Utd Vs Arsenal, There was no parking the bus and we got a great match. TBH any win over rubbishty and chelski gets me so excited, I love when the greedy players don't earn their bread. but I hate when they encourage honest players to join their team. Cesc Fabregas after euro 2012 is an example.

hopefully MUFC and AFC get back to being the top 2 in Soon.

peace out

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It felt like a giant kick in the balls and I filled up with enormous anger. However It might be a little different for you as RvP chose to leave us, we didn't kick RvP out as Welbeck was told he was no longer needed so I feel Welbeck immediately leaves on better terms with you and the MUFC fans.

Thanks for your comments, I too am positive about Welbeck and I hope you're right. I look forward to when our teams meet!

Agree0 Disagree0

It didn't bother me at all when Judas did it, by that time I knew what he was all about.
It's all about Danny now because Welbz is that guy!
You say you love when greedy players don't earn their bread, umm, Wayne Rooney?

Agree0 Disagree0

Respect

Agree0 Disagree0

Reddevilfan. Nice one mate. I was a little bit gutted to be honest but I think that was because like a lot of people I was expecting this mega star to turn up for about a trillion pound :-) but I should have known better. Anyhow in saying that I believe Marvellous Dan will do ok with us, matter of fact I think he will do great. Love your comments it's nice that we can a pop over to each others house and be civil. Enjoyed your post mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2014 08:13:07
Respect Reddevil.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ezdee

I taught Wayne Rooney would be covered in Greedy players that don't earn their bread. Danny was happy to play outta position and done a good job. but more could be said about other Utd players that don't perform but thankfully some are gone or out on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reddevilfan, everything you said is fine, except for the piece on Chelsea and ManCity. ManU is actually no different in spending when compared to those clubs!

Agree0 Disagree0

RED
When RVP did it it hurt me, I bleed red
I can't understand why he didn't love our club, I hope welbeck kiss the badge not on his 1st, 2nd but his hatrick
I think when its come to greed, you have now topped the charts with what you pay.
Hope you have a slightly better season then last year.
Respect to you for your comments

Maybe it's the effects of listening to eminem at one in the morning, but does anyone else think we need a few players who have a bit of attitude, cocky players who will humiliate the spurs back 4 just for Sh!ts and gig's? Players who will elbow john terry right in the jaw just for their own pleasure? Are players are all so nice. I remember when Flamini came back, the first thing he did was come off the bench ruin a spud, and get booked. Legend. Getting in a fight with the spurs coaching staff, when he played for Milan. We need more players like that. Olly G, Micky A, Rosicky, there all quality but there just a bit 'nice'. thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think if Shezzers was an outfield player he'd be taking our Spurs players for fun. I think Jack is an angry passionate player, but he is too small and breakable.

I agree though, we need a thug on our team who will bash opposing players round the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2014 08:15:08

Would love to see Olly and Danny up front together.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2014 23:07:40
So, what do we do with Sanogo?

Personally, I have nothing against him.

He's just a kid, from a lower league French team, with injury problems, who has been thrust into doing a difficult job, in a difficult league.

Not his fault, and to be fair, he gives 100%.

Would still like to keep him. Maybe ship him out to another club for a season long loan to build his confidence.

What say you?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If he's good enough he can break through, in the cups and sub apperrances. If not he will fade away I suppose. Unlike some I thinl the lad will make it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed on all points dags. He's got bags of potential in my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

I think with Giroud coming back next year, I hope to see him loaned out.
He obviously is showing good things on the training ground but is finding it difficult to show them on stage.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cup appearances and subs is good - he may come good.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a talented young player, who needs time to develop and should really have gone somehwere on loan. Now we have signed Welbeck, the focus can be taken off him, so he can play in the League cup and possibly come on as a late substitute.
As fans we need to support young players, rather than criticise them. There are not many, if any, 21 year olds playing the main striking role for a top four premier league club.
Don't forget he was France''s top scorer and player of the tournament, when FRnace won the U20 World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dags. Now I know we are mates but seriously what a question? and from you of all people . Ha ha
:-) :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2014 08:17:03
Golds,

We can always loan him to spurs lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Loan him to a promotion chasing championship club. If he can score goals and handle the physical side of that league then he would stand more chance in the premier league.

Agree0 Disagree0
