Quote from Santi Cazorla
When we defend together we always win, brilliant to hear one of our best attacking players talking about the impotantace of defence and the togetherness of the team.
Everything really is wonderfully different 2015

Lets hope they remember that for the first half of next season as well. Its no good playing well only on the run in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - bit harsh that mate..and change your IP...there is only one G62 fella..

05 Apr 2015 20:49:38
Even I thought it was harsh after writing it - but what the hell.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it was imo mate, but its ok to have different views..

05 Apr 2015 21:33:35
Thanks Ed :-) what's done is done mini me and the future is looking good, we are more mature and adaptable than for a long long time and are truly challenging the best again and that's enough for me. Winning the title is obviously the ultimate but putting in a serious challenge is brilliant.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 08:43:56
Sorry g62, ure challenging the best? How?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the best in the league are chelsea chris, and arsenal are their nearest challengers..so whats wrong with that?..

06 Apr 2015 09:44:45
Well Chris finishing top two is a challenge that has been beyond us for a while now and finishing above city even if not above chavs is a massive step forward for us, but listen at me banging on about us what about yourselves and Southampton? What a season you two are having.
I always knew we'd lose that 4th place trophy one day but who'd have thought you might be in a position to pick it up! Amazing, I know much like many teams who over achieve your not pretty on the eye and trying to con the referees to bridge the gap in talent isn't seen by some as right but needs must and Southampton have the same option should they wish to stoop

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 09:53:30
Hardly a challenge if u finish 8/9 points behind mate, ure just the best of the runners up.

Ed I'm not denying arsenal are up there in terms of ability but the post said g62 was happy that arsenal are now challenging the top clubs, I disagree, arsenal are exactly where they were last season and the 8/9 before really. The league is funny atm, Chelsea have that game against Leicester in hand and when they win that the points gap will be back to about 10 points on arsenal, sorry lads but that's hardly a serious challenge imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think you are doing arsenal a disservice there chris, they have a major chance of finishing second which is an improvement on recent seasons, and G62 said challenging the top clubs mate, that includes city and liverpool (i deliberately left out united) so for me that makes him right..

06 Apr 2015 10:43:32
Ok that's fair enough mate, but top clubs challenge for trophies not places mate.

I'm not getting at arsenal either I will point out, but to just be happy being in the mix for 2nd/3rd/4th is not the actions of a top club wanting to win major honours, sure it's a stepping stone, but u have to push on.

The moment u except mediocrity is when u are going to fail.
Now I'm sure G62 will now tell me they are heading in the right direction, valid comment if not for that being said for the last 9 years. After all arsenal have ONE trophy in TEN years. Sure they may again win the 3rd choice of cups but there must come a time when the fans look around and think "is this really good enough for arsenal fc".

I don't think it is and if next season as I suspect goes the same way as the last few seasons we will be here again after arsenal finally get there arses into gear being told how they are moving in the right direction.

There surely has to come a time when they reach the end of that direction they are saying they are heading?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - teams do go through barren times chris, (remember division 2?) and of course the aim is higher and better things, but sometimes it takes time mate..

06 Apr 2015 11:14:42
Chris at the end of the season one team picks up a silver cup the other 19 don't your right mate but being all you can be is as much as any fan can ask of their club and to that ends we are both very much on target.
Us playing beautiful football and you? Well were all have different tastes and ways of doing thing mate :-) I mean some people actually really prefer Turkey ham to fillet steak

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 11:24:09
No I don't remember that eddy, I'm far to young.

I get what your saying and again I'm not deliberately putting a downer on arsenal. I just think its been this for 10 years. There has to come a time when they finally kick on, and thus far it's a continuous cycle of nearly there.

Top teams don't want to just be considered the next best in the league they want to be the best. Too many arsenal fans imo are just happy with being in the convo for titles.

next season they will go into the league with optimism and hope of success and imo will again fall short.

Cycle continued, bad start followed by a great run that breeds optimisim for the next year. Take Chelsea for example, they wernt happy with 3rd went out and done what was necessary to be the best this year, I just don't see that in arsenal. But for some reason the fans are happy with that each year.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont think they are happy chris, but its hard to keep up with the chelsea and citys of this world with their spending power..

06 Apr 2015 11:34:47
Yes and when the record books come out u will be nowhere on them for the last ten years g62, but at least u can tell your grandchildren u played the best football.

I'm not saying u ain't a top club and I love the fact u have principles mate but under Graham u won a title or 2 and I'm sure u would happily take that football for a year if it ment a title?

Yes we have put in some dour performances this season but come may we might end up with exactly the same as u mate with a genuine hope that we will get back to the top. But in ten years our fans will not look back and say what a successful time that was.

hate us or hate us more, United strive to be the best and will not accept 2nd best, A trait I think arsenal have lacked for the last 10 years and one I only see continuing.

Ask yourself after u win the fa cup if I would of offered u this season how happy would u of been to accept it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - FA cup and second is success in my book chris, not there yet but a good chance mate..

06 Apr 2015 11:40:36
Chris,

The point I'm pretty sure g62 is making is that we have this season turned a corner in our ability as a group to go for things next season on a much more level footing.

We wasted an opportunity in the Champions League to get a round further are still in the FA Cup and still an opportunity to finish 2nd but most importantly we look like a team that can defend and attack in equal measure. That is the reason to believe.

None of that may happen but we are now better equipped at any time in these last 8/9 years to expect a lot lot more next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 11:52:46
I don't doubt for a second ed a 2nd place and fa cup win for an Everton fan is success :)

Imo arsenal should want and do a lot better.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - well that makes me feel a lot better!..thanks for that mate.. :(

06 Apr 2015 12:18:08
I no wot he means dog mate, but I just think u could cut and paste that comment every year buddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 13:06:36
You could Chris but now we can defend mate, which for me is the big difference and will make the difference in what we challenge for.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 14:02:43
Didn't u have one of the best defensive records last year dog?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 14:59:17
Not going to lie Chris speaks sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - chris supports united...so how can he speak sense?.. :)

06 Apr 2015 15:19:02
I come from Cambridge eddy, we are educated well down here :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Rather than "well educated" then Chris?}

06 Apr 2015 15:31:31
lol ed, prob should of read as educated as a well.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 15:34:44

06 Apr 2015 16:46:38
Chris even as a United fan surely you can see this is a totally different team defensively?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 17:55:08
Yes mate I can see, problem is I also see the same team that went on amazing run 2 seasons ago to clinch 4th from under spurs and bales noses.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 23:43:53
Hmmm...except this team has this minor additions of Ozil and Sanchez....

Diaby Gooner,

You asked me what I thought about Sterling in yesterdays game.

I thought he played very well.

He was their main (only) threat and was a constant menace all afternoon.

I like the kid. He's very attack minded and a very tricky little player.

Would I like him at Arsenal?
Not sure, I think we have that position well covered.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Apr 2015 23:11:45
I think he would be a major coup dags. But I do agree not priority. You know I'm a BiG gnabry fan and I see him as our future right mid

What you like Chris? :-)

Derby, Ronaldi, best player in the world mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2015 23:08:16
Is ronaldi better than Ronaldo then? I'll check him out dags

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2015 08:14:05
Yep, Ronaldi is the Italian one lol.

(Damn autocorrect).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - ronaldescu would be the romanian version..

05 Apr 2015 11:45:27
Just 3 players on the injury list............shortest for a long time

Kos ......very minor
Diaby..........................forever out
OX.....length unknown

Just in time for the run in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Apr 2015 15:09:30
You do know that Diaby played 45mins for the reserves last week, don't you?

The Ox is back on the 11th.

Pulse and finger come to mind. ;-)

Injuries screwed us up and we were rock bottom for a bit. But some GOOD came from it.

We never would have had Coq without a Flamini and Arteta injury.
Giroud's injury got us Welbz. Giroud saw his new competition up front and now he can't stop finding the back of the net.
When Koscielny got that injury, it made AW consider getting another CB which he did thankfully in Gabriel.
In Gibbs absence, Monreal stepped up to the plate and is now one of our most consistent players.
Ozil got buff like hell while on the sidelines and is now stronger on the ball.
And Hector, oh Hector... In Debuchy's absence became one of th best right back's in the league.

05 Apr 2015 12:19:09
Excellent post Nam, I think every success story has a time when things are done through necessity rather than chioce but turn out to be crucial long term.
Le Coq has made an unmeasurable difference to us and luckily for us we will never know how things would have turned out without him, but for me the single biggest difference between this year and recent years has been Arsene himself and his willingness to do things a little differently plus he his expectancy levels of individuals seems to have risen 10 fold too, total respect to him for it.

Mate if u think I take anything serious (especially on this page) u ain't used to me at all.

So of course its all took light hearted pal.

I'm missing a bit of a nemesis on this page now since me and dog have made up, and to both our surprise we were found both very similar. Well except my IQ is no higher than your age and all :)

Oh and by the way I thought Le Coq played very well yesterday tbh, best game he's played all season

Il add my bit. I stil think to win the champs league and prem we need a change. But We are on a great run and can stil win the cup.

But next season we need to invest big and go again. Chelsea will ad . Manu now they look like getting champs will invest over 100mill and city can have a bigger squad next year.

We are lucky in a way that spurs and Liverpool can't invest right after a big sale

Great run and I hope iv proved wrong about the title and champs league. No denying he's took the club along way tho.

One thing I loved about yesterday is that we took our chances well. When Bellerini scored, Liverpool had been all over us. But we absorbed the pressure well and scored when it mattered. Good game from the lads and credit to Wenger. Well done everyone. Good team effort

Fantastic result!

When you live where I do (Ottawa, Canada), watching the Arsenal live can be a challenge. So when I haul myself out of bed at 630am for a football match and suffer the taunts (snores) of my family, a result like today's makes waking up at such an early hour on my day off worth it.

COYG!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I stay in Scotland and it's always been a challenge to watch Arsenal, it was even worse during the George Graham years so think yourself lucky.}

Did the Ottawa thing and then moved west to 403. try 2 hours earlier 613 mate -:) 😴. But then I still have whole day after the match is over, that's a wierd feeling, game over and the sun's not risen yet. Miss matchday at Highbury and the whole all day ritual.

Welsh, I hear you, live that early workday dream, which is why matchday is always the best day of the week. Don't mind getting up early for that. Especially yesterday.
