With shawcross saying stoke fans don't like arsenal, I would like to know why the help not? When did we ever break any of their legs?

Tbh mate who cares about Stoke or there fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 21:48:24
I wouldn't pay much attention mate.

Just a bit of 'pre-match winding up'.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not really bothered, its just the hypocrisy! :p

Agree0 Disagree0

Stoke fans don't like anyone who plays football!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sooner they go down the better

Do any of us like Stoke? I don't

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Ramsey somehow refused an apology from Shawcross and wouldn't let him visit in hospital, while Shawcross claims to have been devastated by almost ending Ramsey's career. Ramsey is always the player they boo the most. However, I remember them doing that when he was being stretchered off with his ankle basically hanging off. there were even some fans flying the v's at him. On top of that, I don't see why he is under any obligation to forgive him when his decimated ankle is much worse than Shawcross' hurt feelings.

All that aside, we are a proud club and should be encouraged to get a result when other fans give us stick for no reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

As Mr Durham has been labelled.

You're all "STOKEISTS"

I've invited Ryan Shawcross over for xmas dinner, forgive and forget I say!

What do people think of the Balotelli situation?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think he is a 42 carat p****, i think arsenal dodged a bullet there sheeny...most answers i suspect will not be able to be posted though mate as the site frowns on getting involved with issues such as these...sorry..

The racism charges are nonsense, but he's an awful footballer. Great talent sure, but it's been obvious for years he was never going to utilise it. I have no idea if the rumours of Arsenal having interest in him in the summer were true, but I would have been pissed if we'd signed him. Laughed a lot when liverpool did, it was almost like BR was reading all the transfer gossip and thought he was pulling off a brilliant piece of business - classic liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Witch hunts are doing the fight against racism more harm than good imo, listen to anyone talk for 10 minute's and if you want to I mean really really want to you will find something offensive to some one.
Surely intent is the key issue and the enemy

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 21:15:54
That's fair enough ed. I thought something like that would be the case. I just hadn't seen anything here on it for a big talking point.

Big time we dodged a bullet and I was someone who said we should take a punt. Thank god we didn't

05 Dec 2014 21:31:11
I love it, some thought it was a mistake not buying him. They must be as crazy as he is.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no ones as crazy as him 1404..

05 Dec 2014 21:52:44
I think Liverpool supporters thought Balotelli was going to set the Premier League alight.

Looks like Mario forgot his fireworks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mad? yes but we always knew that, Liverpool were always going to struggle this season without the nibbler and the two were not the ideal match in the first place.
Would he be struggling if Suarez was still there, if not would he struggle along side Sanchez

Agree0 Disagree0

Crazy as a box of frogs!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 23:51:10
You are correct G62,

To be fair to Balo, he isn't really a lone striker, he prefers to play with another striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 11:51:56
What I find about Balo is he's a oddly, a big game player and not a regualr game player.

The big games he's out for the challenge and show everyone he can play alongside the best (although it hasn't happened this year) against the lesser teams it seems like he thinks he's above it and dosen't need to try and loks pathetic for it.

His time at Man City he had major contributions in the big games and sat on his hands in between them

Wenger has stated that Sanchez is playing in the 'red zone'. Well it hardly takes a genius to realise that he needs a rest. Perhaps this may wake Wenger up, use his squad and sign sufficient players of quality to enable some degree of rotation. What's the betting that just as Walcott comes back, Sanchez will get injured?
We have Campbell, Podolski & Rosicky, who could all have come in and played.
On Tuesday we must play as many reserves as possible. Belerin, Hayden, Rosicky, Campbell, Podolski, Sanogo & Ganbry should all me played, possibly with a couple more young defenders to make up the numbers.
I can't begin to imagine the state of our defenders come the end of December.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd quite like him to start on the bench against stoke, and not be in the squad tuesday. We have more than enough players to give him a rest, and if he gets an injury due to over playing then we are going to be in real trouble.

Might as well get Diaby on the pitch against gala, injury or no injury :P

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 21:23:40
I think if he was rested before now there'd have been uproar given our form.

We need him tomorrow I think. He won't be near the Gala fixture if we've any sense

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 12:17:01
Much as predicted the shortage of defenders & defensive midfield players is starting to bite.
Against Stoke, we have Debuchy & Monreal out. We have fitness tests for Koscielny & Gibbs. Indeed, Koscielny's achilles is inflamed again and he clearly needs rest to sort it out. It reminds me of Vermaelens achilles problems and he never was the same player when he returned.
We have Arteta & Wilshere out, so Flamini is our sole defensive midfield player.
God only knows what state the squad will be in by the time we get any reinforcements in. Chambers, Mertesacker & Sanzchez are all in urgent need of rest.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have been very unfortunate with injury's at the back and I do feel that even if we had brought a replacement for Verm, which was a must we would still be short. We have 2 def mid (albeit not the quality we would all want) but we still have 2 which should be enough.
I do however feel that more alarming is the lack of young Defenders coming through the ranks at arsenal? other than Gibbs and he has been around doe a long time none of the others seem ready/ good enough or have the complete faith of the manager?
Man UTD have had their problems in def this season and they have had a few coming through, we have good facilitys, and good coaches so why are we not able to produce any?

05 Dec 2014 10:47:36
Would it be unfair and unreasonable to say to Arsene its got to be top 3 or tat ta at the end of this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Dec 2014 17:06:32
Top 3 is good, but still unacceptable after the amount of years we've been waiting. I think he should just hand to reigns over to someone else. We're a big club with good finance, squad and facilities which would attract many managers who could do a fantastic job, who's tactics are new and modern not naïve and stubborn like Wengers. He has been absolutely incredible but I think his times up and would love change.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think giving this seasonto actually show real progress is expected even if its only 3rd its improvement and moving upwards apposed to another stagnating season.
I think top 3 is fair both ways and reason to carry on but another 4th should be the last under Arsene.
A bit of pressure and accountability might be the making of him as anyone who's job is too safe must lose their edge its human nature

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 21:34:02
If the board don't want him to go, which I don't think will ever happen it's just a pointless discussion tbh until he decides to leave.
I'd like to see him win another League trophy and bow out gracefully for the incoming Pep revolution.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 01:33:29
I think that is a fair statement. Top 3 would be seen to represent 'progress'. I'm not convinced it would represent progress, but it would be hard to argue against it.

Howeveer, iif Chelsea, Real, Bayern or City finished 3rd the manager would be gone. If van Gaal finishes 3rd next year I would expect him to be gone unless the circumstances are exceptional. We need more ambition; but that is not going to come under this board and owner.

"Abou Diaby is on the brink of returning to training. If he's fully fit, he'll have a new deal"

Does that mean what I think it means?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is our January signing!

Agree0 Disagree0

If Wenger gives him a new deal then he needs sacking and clearly hasn't the clubs best interests at heart

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2014 21:35:06
It says a lot about Diaby that the fact he's nearing returning to TRAINING is news

Agree0 Disagree0

Call me crazy (which you will) but I love Diaby and would love to see him fit and in the team again. One of the things I've always admired Wenger for, and one of the reasons our players love him, is he treats them like humans and not cattle. Give him a pay as you play or pay when fit contract if you have to, but I'd hate us to just throw him away and then suddenly watch as he overcomes his injuries and rises to fame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with banbury. A new deal and itl be final straw for me

Agree0 Disagree0

Lemon. Let diaby go mate its never happening the guys done

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah treats his players like humans and his critics like ghosts

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a huge soft spot for Diaby too and would love to see him in the 1st team. but I have been saying that for over 5 years now and it is simply foolish to think we will ever get a good run of games out of him. it is just so unlikely.

i agree with banbury - keeping diaby runs counter to the interests of fans. I feel sorry for the guy but we are spending well over 50k a week on a player who occupies a position we desperately need to fill, but never plays games. let him move on and spend that wage money on a deep-lying midfielder who actually plays games. that's what's best for the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2014 12:08:16
Lemon I would love to have him he's an absolute gem! But like Oleg says it's foolish to think it would happen. And he's made 50,000 a week and played 2 matches in over 12mnts.

2010-2011 played 20 all comps inc. subs
2011-2012 played 5 all comps inc. subs
2012-2013 played 15 all comps inc subs
2013-2014 played 1

41 games and if he has been getting 50k a week in that time that's £10.4m. or £200k per match

This is his 10th season with us and he's played 180 games inc. subs.

He's a drain on our resources simple as

New deal? Lunacy
But I hope I'm wrong on a lot of levels

I love the spirit of a child, each time my kids does something I feel is not right, I reprimand them, send the culprit to there room or cut him off from cartoon for a while, or spank him depending on the gravity of the offence, at that moment I could see anger in there eyes, but the moment that episode elapses, the child forgets both the offence and the punishment, and the next moment he is up to something else, some kind of a circle I painfully came to accept, now I see them growing up and becoming adults as the way out for me, so I am waiting patiently for that blissful day.
The blissful day arsene and his board will grow up from kids to adulthood, oh how I long for that day when boys will become men.

Thanks mate

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

05 Dec 2014 03:18:29
Three wins and everyone is back on the 'we should give Arsene the cash and let him build a squad to challenge for the league'. Come on guys as much as I respect Wenger we all know the problem with him isn't his genius it is his stubborness, arrogance, his inability to admit to mistakes, his my way or the highway attitude and the fact he won't let anyone have any input into the team.

These qualities were all well and good 10-15 years ago but the games changed and if you don't change with it then it's time to part. Even Alex Ferguson admitted that he struggled to adapt to the new structures and the ever changing environment of our game. This is not an attack on Wenger it is simply outlining what is best for our club to progress. Things change, times change and eras end.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its all a matter of opinion Van and I happen to share yours mate, Arsene talks of 15 years of consecutive CL progresion and he is of course right but in those years Liverpool Chelsea and utd have all had more CL success than us.
If its the taking part that's important then Arsene is very much the man for the job no question on that.
If its actually competing your after then he's not quite the man for the job anymore, winning is a habit and so has become taking part

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree G62

VDG,

If you are alluding to my post below then that is not the case, 3 wins on the bounce in our current position is a long way from good enough.

Give me another 20 and I'll be happy, I quite simply don't want Wenger out.

Over the nest two transfer windows I would love to see the following signings:
Clyne, Hummels, Mings, Schneiderlin, Sissoko & Dybala

To create space in the squad and raise some funds in fees & saved wages, sell/release:

Monreal, Arteta, Flamini, Coquelin, Abou Diaby, Rosicky, Miyaichi, Podolski & Campbell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or Van Dijk instead of Hummels, if the transfer fee is too high.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels we won't get.

Depending on how serius the Saints are about making top 4 they won't sell Clyne or Schneiderlin to us.

Mings is possible, personally think he's overhyped and over priced but he is our type of signing.

Sissoko is good player, not great but would add depth to our team. Also possible.

Dybala would cost in the region of 30 + million and for me that's a never. Potential to be a top player? Yes. Massive risk? Yes. Could we get better for £30 million? Definitely.

We need just bite the bullet and spend X amount of money on 3 top, top, top players in the postions we struggle in. Then we will be a force. For the price of those you have mentioned we could have Godin, Bender and Bony for instance. I know what I would want.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels - I agree, hence the subsequent Van Dijk suggestion.
Mings - Ideal cover for Gibbs, at the right price. He is English and at 6'3" could cover at centre back.
Clyne & Schneiderlin - If the offer is sufficiently high & the players become unsettled there is always a possibility.
Sissoko - a damsight better than Flamini & Arteta. Will add youth, height & power.
Dybala - I agree, a risk at £30m, worth a gamble at £15m. Reus would be another option.
The overhaul, I suggested would rid us of players that are simply not good enough to challenge for the Premiership & the Champions League. Whilst signing quality replacements.

Agree0 Disagree0

At some point in time I would like us to sign a defensive midfielder, before the 2020 European championships would he lovely but I do realise these things take time.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i do enjoy a bit of sarcasm G62..

Sorry Ed I couldn't resist :-) its Friday and last working day so I'm in good spirit's

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i will let you off this time mate.. :)

Hummels will join manu soonish I think. they will invest heavy again I believe

Agree0 Disagree0

You get the impression they want the title to be a 3 horse race again Derby?
So do i

Agree0 Disagree0

This year manu will not win the title or come top 2. but next year they will go for it. will they win it I don't know/ the season after though i'm sure they will be up there.

we need to invest or we will get left behind again

Agree0 Disagree0

Utd treated Moyes badly we know it they know it, city to Mancini wasn't exactly great either and chavs have treated a host of managers including mourinho very harshly, I'm not saying I agree with this sort of treatment of no patience or time to change things at all type mentality but it has and looks like continuing to be the way of winners, sadly.
I do believen giving a manager time and support can be just as successful but there has to be limits on that time.
No pressure at all has done neither Arsene or Arsenal any favours.
There has to be a middle ground between ruthlessness and total lack of competitiveness

Agree0 Disagree0

All the names that are mentioned on here and this is the first of Mings

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Nov 2014 15:41:49
hi ed, can you name any potential targets we will be looking at in jan. thanks

{Ed002's Note - I suspect Arsenal will see if a deal can be done for Petr Cech. Arsenal may look to a CB in - Schar or even Mings, but January is not the best time to be looking to buy and there is stroing interest from elsewhere for both players. In terms of a defensive midfield player, long-term interest from Arsenal and Sevilla in Hamburg's Torgay Arslan remains - and I understand from someone in Germany he is a player much admired by van Gaal. Kramer may well be an option - but Khedira and Schneiderlin are much less likely right now. It will always be difficult in January.}

05 Dec 2014 17:16:07
Ya I did a search on it, mid November seems to be the earliest mention, and it was indeed Robbie Gunner. I think only one other person mentioned him besides yourself ed.

I can just imagine how many people are going to be "in the know" on Mings over the next few weeks after what Wenger said.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will obviously need time to adjust to the PL ah here comes next seasons excuse/ I mean reason for 4th place
