Has anyone else seen Gnarby's goal from the other day? It's pretty amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVABy-b9Ztc

Quite looking forward to seeing this guy develop. Think he deserves a run in the FA cup.

Do t see many comments from women on here. hi Sally. km

Agree4 Disagree4

^^ bit sexist, how do you know Sally is not a man? And how do you know some of the others aren't women?

And how do we know you are not an alien?

Agree12 Disagree0

Look at the post time, if Sally was a woman She would be either cooking dinner, putting the kids to bed, washing up, shopping for Tampax or learning the offside rule. I will not abide ANY sexism of any sort!!

If Sally is a woman, please Sally in reference to Gnarby's goal, don't you worry your pretty little head about it!
Go get the pan on!

I would just like to confirm at this point I am single

1404

Agree7 Disagree0

Omg you juss made my day. sally might be an overweight man with a potbelly and razorburn and a bold head. haha

Agree1 Disagree0

I rate him. don't know what team it was against but a while ago he was subbed on for the first team and he looked the only promising played. shame it was for only 5 mins, but he really impacted the game

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, that's one person who won't be coming back with a sign-off from now on.

Mike

Agree1 Disagree0

1404,

I am appauled!

It's no wonder you are single, but for you to suggest that a woman could learn the offside rule, that's ridiculous!

Oh and I was the one who suggested the poster was sexist, but it was tongue in cheek and NO I will not put my name to this either.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does everyone write Gnarby?

Agree1 Disagree0

^^ You just did too! It's GNABRY!

not arsenal related except players going on international duty.

what are peoples opinions on euro and world cup qualification.

i personally think international football has gone stale especially the qualifying rounds.

how would people feel about changing it to a draw system where every 1 is put in hat and we knock out down to the last 32.

it would cut down the amount international in the season.

it would give every game a cup final atmosphere.

i just think the buzz has gone out of internationals.

champagne charlie

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Certainly, something needs to be done to the current system. I think a lot of the problem is with the lesser nations being included into the current format. I would like to see a two tier elimination process, almost like the F. A cup where the smaller nations compete earlier on prior to the big guns coming in.

Unfortunately England is full of the likes of Cleverley, Carrick, Welbeck and the un interested and over weight Rooney thus they are poor and not worth watching.

I hate them playing any Arsenal player in case they get injured and SAF always pulls some injury stunt to get one or other of his players withdrawn just so they can get a rest.

The sooner the likes of Jack, the Ox, Theo, Jenkinson, Smalling, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Micah Richards, Sturridge, Sterling and the likes come to the fore then we may be worth watching.

Stoner

Agree10 Disagree1

So deluded stoner, its obvious you bitter towards man united players. the same rooney scores and create goals, clervely is a decent player and still contribute to the team, welbeck will come good. Jude

Agree0 Disagree4

Dont get twisted cleverley is a good played, but Carrick he is washed

Agree0 Disagree1

As I say many times. not that I am against the english national team. but 90% of the players are over-rated.

i would take nacho monreal the spain no2 over any england no1 at the same position.

i would take spains be team over the england A team bar wilshere.

the national team is hyped, never put up a challenge when their backs are against the walls, the golden generation consisted of the Stevie G show and flops.

I love patriotism but also believe in realism.

Beating this brazil team is possible. they are not special in any way. however i'm looking at a draw.

for me the 2014 contenders are Germany, Brazil and Argentina in that order.

Outside shot to Italy and England. however can never throw france out.

Im glad now that RVP didn't win the World cup. he didn't deserve it.

Sags can't cross with his good foot at right back, do you really think its wise ro put a out of form player at left back abd asking hin to cross with his weaker foot?

Verm has to play left back as he can actully use his left foot will be able to pass and cross better from that postion and has played there before against world class players

quick question.

if wenger goes at the end of his contract or even in the summer how would people feel about steve bould given the job on a 4 year contract?

do you think the board would be giving this any strong consideration?

i am not talking about bringing some 1 like db10 in beside him he would have total control.

thoughts please

champagne charlie

Believable1 Unbelievable28

I don't think that he (Bould) is proven enough for that role at the moment.
Having said that, everyone has to start somewhere, I just don't think that should be with the first team at Arsenal for Bould.
Wenger has often said that Stojkovic is one of his preferred choices, and failing Guardiola (after his Munich stay) I think it will be someone from the outside coming in. With these (mentioned) comes a new group of ideas that fit with the 'Arsenal' philosophy.
I do think that Wenger has overachieved if you look at things from a monetary point of perspective. I don't see Arsenal becoming a big spending club, and therefore anyone taking the helm will have to be a tactician, who can develop from within and have an eye for talent. basically what Wenger is.
I am not looking forward to the day Wenger moves on from his current post. I will be a little more settled if he retained a role overseeing things from within, as long as he allows the new Manager to manage.
If you speak to anyone within the game, grudgingly or otherwise they will agree that 'Arsene Wengers' do not appear that often. He changed the English game on so many levels, he was a visionary, and in the respect of the problems that are going to face football in the next few years, still a visionary.

Kermit79

Agree2 Disagree1

I really cannot see Wenger leaving this summer. He has always said that he would honour his contract and that runs until the end of next season. However, If he were to leave, Then I do believe that he would stay at the club in another capacity and because of this, I cannot see Bouldy being offered the oppertunity. I would rather he was though.

Naz

Agree1 Disagree1

What experience has Bould had to manage Arsenal?

Agree1 Disagree0

Think Rafa or moyes will take over

Agree0 Disagree6

I'm actually starting to wonder what influence he has now. I'm not entirely convinced however he is allowed to have much influence.
I'd also question his pulling power in respect of attracting big names.
For me it would be a no.

Wow those drugs really are kicking in, first optimism, then loads of posts, and then the idea of replacing our greatest manager ever with a completely unproven Steve Bould.

Now don't get me wrong I like Steve as much as the next man, but in charge!

If Arsene goes at the end of his contract, or even to Real when they sack Jose, and having got bored of the Gooner moaners, then it will be our most critical moment in modern history.

Replacing him is likely to be almost impossible. Yes we can all have our little dreams, but the world has many more failures in management than successes. The risk is we would join all the others with a new manager, a Unew direction and a new mess every year.

Klopp is the obvious name but why would he leave Dortmund for us? Laudrup would be my favourite but with Dennis Bergkamp alongside him, and Steve still in the lead set up. Oh I'd also like Arsene to only go when h becomes Sporting Director or President or something else that will keep his expertise and loyalty in the club.

I'm hoping that the only reason we haven't won anything in years is because CHELSEA, MAN U, MAN C, have been involved in match fixing. I have a feeling I'm going to be left disappointed. I'll just let it go.
Hang on a minute! Fergie likes a bet on the horses! F##k me, He owns some horses! Oh please pretty please let it be old rednose!
Let it go Flybo, let it go.

Believable18 Unbelievable0

The way that Manchester United get the rub of the green over the years it wouldn't be surprising.
However, let's not get ahead of ourselves, lest we forget that Arsenal were involved in alleged fixing/collusion/bribery in our past (Henry Norris) to gain access to League one at the expense of Wolves (and Tottenham. snigger). None of this has ever been proven of course, and even back then Manchester United were alleged to have fixed the last game of the season against Liverpool.
I'm sure fixing has been rife in all forms of sport as long as there has been a betting industry working along side it.
It would be a shame if we discovered that the outcomes of some memorable games had been artificially
produced/induced.
As we see some cheating can go on for years with some too frightened to speak up for fear of reprisal (Lance Armstrong example etc. ).
It does create the feeling that when some individuals claim that ticket prices for Premiership football are in line with West End productions they may be worryingly similar in more ways than just pricing.

What are you guys view on wengers recent outlandish comments on gervinho being the best player at the acn. I must say I nearly pissed myself laughing as he ain't even the top player in his side yaya toure is.
Maybe wenger was misquoted. I think he may have been asked who he felt had the biggest forehead at the the tournament at the rest have simply been twisted in translation. .

Kcider

To be fair he probably was the player of the tournament. Against poorer defenders his madness = magic!

Someone commented on it earlier and I wanted to bring more attention to it because it still makes me sick to my stomach.

If the match at the Nou Camp where RVP was sent off wasn't fixed, I don't know what was.

We had them beat and scared at home. The referees were very well aware that we were superior conditioned based on our late flurries every time we played them. we dominated the last 20-25 min each time we played them at home.

Sending off our main goal scoring threat and depleting us to 10 men was just the tonic.

I'll never forget that match. We had Barca beat and we didn't do it parking a bus. No other team can claim that.

We beat them in 06, and we sure as hell had them beat that day.

I'm convinced that match was fixed whether or not they find those two. as I'm convinced UEFA will do whatever it takes to preserve the Barca brand because its raking in the money and ratings globally.

Rot in hell Massimo Bussacca. . and forever **** BARCA. Makes me sick when people drool over them.

p. s. this isn't a pity post. I am simply convinced that match, more so than any other match I can remember, was fixed. prob because it screwed my team.

Believable13 Unbelievable5

This is what makes me mad.

the governing bodies were yet no where to be seen "again" when it maters.

does any 1 know if that referee is still around or was he retired quietly?

big boys given decisions again.

did NB52 miss a sitter in that game?

This is the game where we didn't even have 1 shot on goal right? even our goal 'we' scored was an own goal. can hardly say we had them scared and beat now can we.
but yes the van persie sending off was perhaps the worst decision I have seen in a match.

paul

Agree1 Disagree1

All this match fixing hoo haa makes me wonder if it's worth looking into Mike Dean's stats when he handles our games?

1 win in 17. I wonder how that compares to other refs handling our games and if there's any serious discrepancy/difference it should be investigated.

Not saying anything has happened but the figures are weird. our win ratio is way lower than with any other ref and if he handled all our games we would finish bottom of the table with about 26 points.

Opta ought monitor things like this for all refs and clubs so that any weird exceptional issues can be investigated!

Soopergooner

Agree1 Disagree0

Mike Dean is an some payroll somewhere. have you guys seen the games he refs for us?

Guy is a joke.

US Gooner

Agree1 Disagree0

Although I do hate Mike Dean, if you type Mike Dean Arsenal Stats into google the website transfermarkt have a list of all the games he has refereed for us. The majority of them are the big games and we don't turn up for them half the time. They are:

This season:
City 0-2 loss we were terrible and Kos got a red that was unavoidable.
United 2-1 we were dreadful without the ref helping united either.
City 1-1 again we made things hard for ourselves.

I could go on but cba, although the list includes shocking performances against Fulham, more United and Chelsea ones, bad losses to teams like Newcastle and all in all as much as he might affect a game with terrible decisions, the simple truth is he more often than not refs a bit game and I can remember almost all those games and we were for the most part simply terrible by our own standards so I think there is a lot of coincidence. Regardless of his decisions we didn't do enough in most of those games and the scorelines reflect that.

I still hate Mike Dean though.

Listening to the fans forum podcast earlier, a good point was raised about sticking sagna at left back and bringing carl back in at right back, rather than moving TV to left back (which he dislikes) and having mert and kosc in the middle. This is specifically for the bayern games where we have no gibbs/monreal, with only santos (and meade who maybe wrongly overlooked?) as cover.

Also, I've developed the opinion that our defence has struggled this season due to a serious lack of pace in the middle of our midfield. As much as arteta and ramsey and wilshere (and diaby when fit) can run for 90 minutes, they rarely outpace anyone, and often struggle to run back and defend against pacey counter attacks. Arteta plays cautious sideways keep-ball because he knows that if he loses the ball in the opponents half, he doesn't have the legs to run back and defend a counter attack (for 90 minutes).

Sorry for the essay, I generally loathe long posts like this.
