The BBC are reporting Vardy will make his decision tomorrow wether to join us or stay at Leicester, while I really hope he joins us I will totally respect his decision if he decides to continue to ride the extraordinary Leicester city wave and see where that takes him.

05 Jun 2016 22:01:02
Disagree,

Join us or i will nick his dog and turn it into a ferret.

Sorry mate, I'm just a bit more 'Dagenham' than you :-)

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 22:36:25
Fair play Dags, I totally respect your right to eat your soup with your fingers mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 22:50:09
Chopstick's mate, always chopstick's for soup. That way a bowl of soup last's 3 nights :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 22:52:56
Be a kick in the teeth if he turns us down.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 23:05:49
I wouldn't personally see it as turning us down as showing loyalty to Leicester, much like if Ozil refused to join Bayern Munich if they come knocking.

Agree0 Disagree0

So far Ed025 is having a very good window, if Arsene and Arsenal carry on the way they are even he might get to enjoy this page again next season :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i always enjoy these pages G62, arsenal are my second team and i class all you guys as friends..moaning sods..but friends.. :)

05 Jun 2016 23:20:40
Not all of us are moaning sods. Some of us are a delight . well, at least I am.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed033's Note - you're an angel delight

05 Jun 2016 21:54:26
That could well be the nicest thing you've said to us here ed :p. Someone going soft haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im afraid that comes with age D16, a lot of younger people seem to get angry very easily whereas us old fogies tend to take things in our stride..well thats what my carer told me anyway.. :)

05 Jun 2016 21:56:47
In that case Ed,

Can you do a spot of babysitting for me please.

Only a month or 12? :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i feel like i have babysat you for a very long time dags.. :)

05 Jun 2016 22:09:43
The feeling is totally mutual mate.
I'm unusually opportunistic next season might be the most enjoyable for some time as so far I'm very pleasantly surprised at the ambition shown by both Arsene and the club and wether it leads to success or not you have to applaud the genuine attempt to address our weaknesses this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - one or two more G62 and i believe your good to go mate..

06 Jun 2016 08:25:02
Ed,
That's pretty much what Mrs Dag's says :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i feel sorry for that lady.. :)

05 Jun 2016 19:45:17
Some papers are now saying we are in talks with mahrez now. Anyone of you beautiful eds able to confirm this :)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2016 20:14:50
With so much happening so quickly already we're prime targets for the media make it up as they type rumour brigade, none of us expected the club be so proactive so soon if at all so at the moment it's difficult to totally discount most rumours, well except Dags Bentner ones that are this summer's Remy and Austen replacements.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:29:22
I did wonder that. I did see rumours that we had a bid rejected. Twitter rumours but still.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:37:56
If we sign Mahrez it would be a dream.

Still want Mkhitaryan and Manolas.

Greedy much.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:45:44
Just a bit dags. If this is true it's about time we haven't messed around. Seems we wanted morata wasn't working so moved onto the next target instead of waiting. Quite like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:53:55
Absolutely D16,

No point hanging around and getting gazumped like a newlywed couple waiting for a house.

Ahh G62,
Remy and Austen :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:49:43
Enlighten us ed :)

Are we making solid approaches/ bids for such players as Mahrez/ Mkhitaryan?

It would be interesting as it would seem a couple would get moved on, But who?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 19:10:39
If Vardy signs he will become only the 4th Arsenal player to cost over £20 milion,

Believable0 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2016 19:26:55
Vardy, Sanchez, Ozil and Bendtner :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2016 07:31:34
You forgot Xhaka dags.

05 Jun 2016 18:35:29
Anyone saw the hilarious video of Gabriel and Ospina? Absolute Gold. Dashed all hopes of seeing Gabriel speak English ever.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Jun 2016 18:47:32
Just saw the video, its hilarious.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 19:12:08
I think it's going to be easier in the long run to teach the rest of the squad Portuguese.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 19:23:39
Anyone seen the one of Ox trying to teach him how to bowl at cricket stumps :-)
I like the bloke.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:34:20
I love these video's they release, it's a shame they're so few and far between.

The Manonne and Walcott one is good (though it got taken down for some reason)
The Jenko and Ox one is absolutely great.

But this Ospina - Gabriel one was superb.
The Halloween but was cringeworthy!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:44:50
Yup saw that, he's a top bloke, has come through a lot of hardship and you can see he appreciates what he's getting now. also in one of his interviews he spoke about growing up in Brazil and how he almost gave up as he was 18 by the time he got a trial.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2016 07:19:20
Ox and Jenks is my favourite:-) I've watched it a few times and still laugh at it.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 18:24:39
Would be happy to see - Sanchez Vardy and Mkhitaryan fed by Ozil while protected by - Granit and Elneny / Coq
With a back four improved with a new centehalf.

05 Jun 2016 16:33:20
I heard Spurs have just completed the signing of Jamie Vardy's lookalike for £20.

I'd like to just say this! This.

05 Jun 2016 18:33:25
Feeling very happy for Quaver oops its Raver. lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 15:19:14
No idea what Rodriguez is like but I've a hunch that if we get him there'll be no new centre back and nacho/ chambers will be the third choice with nacho gradually becoming a full time cb over a couple of seasons.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

05 Jun 2016 17:28:18
If that's the case which I doubt then the likes of vardy and Xhaka will be pointless. We really need another CB.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 15:26:02
Ed, if we get Mikhtaryan. Ozil will out?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2016 17:44:10
I don't think so Andy, for me I think ozil is just a laid back kinda fella and is just letting speculation be just that n keeping his head on the euro's.

I think if there is a shock sale from the club it will be Santi : (
Which would be a massive loss
If santi does leave I know wenger is an admirer of Calhanoglu. he'd soften the blow abit

The fella your on about is Chelsea bound anyway isn't he?

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 19:29:20
Apparently we are ahead of Chelsea in (possibly) signing Mkhitaryan.

Would love him at Arsenal. Absolute top quality player.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 19:43:34
That would be a dam fine signing to go with the rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:04:59
Keeping Ozil and Sanchez is massive if we're to mount a challenge next season, we need to fix our weaknesses not simply swap one for another.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 15:15:07
If we do get Vardy hopefully wallcott will go.

Imo we just need a decent cb and cover for rb unless using jenko and we are good to go.

Hopefully Campbell gets more game time and looking forward to seeing reine adelaide who hopefully will be ready to play in the first team.

Heard we might be getting Zouma from Chelsea, that would be a great signing.

Squard starting to take shape, looking forward to fifa 17 already lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

05 Jun 2016 14:34:55
Anyone see giroud talking about vardy joining. Despite his criticism giroud clearly cares for the club. Also said Arsene told him he plans to bring in at least one striker maybe two. So who knows.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2016 15:18:46
I have little beef with Giroud to be honest, I've never wanted him to leave, but I've wanted an upgrade for a long time.

It's alright being a nice guy and being committed to the club, but that often gets you nowhere.

I've stated in posts on here before, Giroud is a cracking option to have, but he's not good enough to lead the line if we want to achieve.

Bringing Giroud on off the bench, when we can't break down a defence, or even starting him against a West Brom/ Stoke/ Sunderland team where you know it's going to be a physical game

Not only that, but you need healthy competition in a club and Giroud doesn't have that, with Welbeck becoming a true gunner and having more injuries in 2 seasons than the rest of his career combined, Giroud knows he's our only out and out striker and that can lead to complacency, even if its not his intent.

Another striker in a differ mouldy gives us so many options!

However, if we do see two strikers come in, then Giroud'll be shown the door, surely.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 16:23:52
To be fair Olly has been saying for 3 years now how he would welcome competition for his place, he always produces his best when his place is uncertain and maybe he knows his self well enough to he needs someone to keep him under pressure to produce on a regular basis.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 16:27:34
Agree D we need two new strikers and sell giroud and walcott. For me wenger isn't getting the best out of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 17:31:35
Agree guys. It frustrates me as at times with giroud you see some real quality. His touch and ability you won't find in many strikers. But consistency and Other attributes like pace and composure let's him down. Who knows playing him up front with vardy might show the best from him.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 14:22:28
Worried bellerin and Ozil might leave.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

05 Jun 2016 15:07:16
I reckon Bellerin will leave eventually, but when you hear him speak about Arsenal/ England/ himself, he's clearly pretty happy, I'm sure Pique will be sending him flowers and chocolates wrapped in a Barcelona themed bow, but I think Bellerin is learning a lot here, we're developing a strong team and we're certainly reinforcing it now.
His girlfriend lives here, his family now lives here, he's good friends with some of the younger lads here and is best friends with Jon Toral.
I mean, if you listen to him talk, he's even got a bit of an English accent over his Spanish one!
I think we'll get 2 more seasons of Hector, if we win the league, maybe more.

Barca will go for Cancelao (sorry if I've butchered the spelling of his surname) and I'd probably say Barcelona are the only team he'd leave us for.

Özil I'm not so sure, the fans love him, Arsene stands by him, he's the 'biggest' player at Arsenal and still has two years on his deal, the whole 'not talking till after the euro's could be one of 3 things.

A: Genuinely doesn't want to be distracted
B: Hoping he has a belter and can drive up his wages
C: Does want to leave.

I can see him ending up at Bayern next year, unfortunately.

With players like Özil, like Alexis, you have to be challenging, you have to be actively making an effort.
They may not say it publicly, but I'd be willing to bet on the inside, they're seething we didn't do more to go for it last season.

This year, we're making waves early and I think that'll go in our favour.

Not to mention, it looks like we're keeping Flamini now!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 16:02:22
I'm hoping the club showing real ambition will be enough to make Mesut and Sanchezs give us another season and reassess things next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 14:20:49
I think we need to redevelope our squad next year! We had a great season but need to improve massively to compete next year as other teams like Manchester city and United have already signed big names!
I think get a new CB, CM, RM and Striker.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

05 Jun 2016 14:47:02
Samuel I don't know what arsenal you watched last season to call it a great season.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 16:30:12
Finishing second this year was not great and I don't think the rest was either but you are right things need to change.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 16:31:25
I think Samuel is a lost Leicester city fan Malaga mate :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 14:18:37
Why are we trying to sign Vardy
Imo he is great! His passion and desire for the game is terrific but we should go for someone who we know is a top player every year because I'm not convinced Vardy will continue his form next year!
Also we are ruining Leicester, they have done so well to do what they did and taking away one of their best players is going to ruin them! I fee bad if we sign him.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

05 Jun 2016 15:05:07
Because vardy is a ruthless finisher which we are crying out for.
And how can you justify not signing a quality player for a bargain price.
Let me ask you mate, do you think Leicester felt bad for us when they won the league last year because it was supposed to be our year?
No they didn't.
So why should we not sign one of the best strikers in Europe (based on form) purely so we don't upset Leicester?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 15:09:18
Sod feeling bad mate, we had years of clubs poaching from us and we didn't even win the bloody league.

I'd take Mahrez and Vardy if we could!
Being nice, on and off the pitch got us nowhere.

I'm a fan of this take what we want Arsenal we've seen in the early window.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 07:25:08
Xhaka. - signed
Vardy - signing

Now we need;
A Centre Back
A Right Back
A Left Back

We need to sell, loan out or release:

Debuchy
Jenkinson
Campbell
Sanogo
Szczesny
Monreal or Gibbs - Niether are good enough for a top club. Although Monreal is ahead of Gibbs, I might be inclined to keep Gibbs as he is younger and part of the English contingent.

We may also need a keeper if Ospina departs.

Believable7 Unbelievable11

05 Jun 2016 08:34:05
I don't get people's disliking of Monreal.
Other than maybe Fuch's who had an outstanding season, Monreal was probably the best left back in the league.

He's solid defensively and great going forward, I can't think of many mistakes he made during the season either.

Quite frankly, I'm more than happy with Monreal!

I agree we need a Centre Back, but other than that, I'd say we need a winger.
Any other signings are a luxury.

Agree7 Disagree6

05 Jun 2016 09:11:27
I agree Monreal is a very good LB and other than Ozil who had a better season than him last season?

Agree2 Disagree5

05 Jun 2016 10:18:16
Agree lads, I think nacho is a great LB, does both attacking n defending very well n like you say had a great season last year.

Agree3 Disagree4

05 Jun 2016 10:47:22
Frankly I'd e happy to leave the full back positions alone, especially with jenks back after injury, and chambers acting as cover until then with a cb incoming.

Ideally I'd like a cb and a winger. Mayre mkhitaryan or however you spell the crazy Armenian name.

Agree2 Disagree3

05 Jun 2016 11:01:08
a decent stand in is needed tho, it seems Gibbs who started out as a midfielder is slipping out of favour, so another top LB won't go amiss.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 11:15:56
Monreal, much as I like his work ethic, simply isn't good enough. He isn't in his national squad and if we are trying to bridge the gap between us and Europe's top clubs, he is a player that wouldn't be in the top clubs squads, never mind their first team. Fans always like players that have such a good attitude, even if they are not the best of players.
As regards the RB position, Debuchy is clearly on his way out, Chambers was poor cover and has been moved across to CB and Jenkinson was on his way out, before he was seriously injured.

Agree2 Disagree5

05 Jun 2016 11:17:01
I am with C S. full backs are fine, jenks is a perfect sub. Would only get a LB if Gibbs asks to leave and it would be a back up young fella.

Transfers look good so far, I don't know why some think we only play 11 players all season, Vardy/ Giroud looks like a great set of strikers where Arsene can pick horses for courses and sometimes both.

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Jun 2016 13:04:56
Nacho man was easily one of the best left backs in the league last season, his improvement was pretty big from the season before if you ask me.
The only thing we actually need at the back is a world class centre back with some pace to go with Kos.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 13:07:41
Thing is, you can't really use national teams as an accurate judge of ability.

Giroud is currently his nations first choice striker and 9/ 10 of us want him replaced.

Santi hasn't made it into the Spanish side either, but i'm sure most of us are more than happy that he's back fit.

You talk about bridging the gap between us and the 'bigger' clubs, like Madrid etc, but Madrid have Benzema, who didn't make the France squad (albeit mostly down to being a tool)
Utd have Herrera and Mata, starting players who didn't make the Spain squad.
Chelsea have Diego Costa.
All starting players, who didn't make their respective national teams.

Sometimes, reliable is all you can ask for, basically a Gary Neville, not a galactico, but he'll always give 100%

As for the Right back situation, Debuchy will leave, I agree with you, but we have Chambers, who despite not always impressing, is improving and Jenkinson, who actually had some good performances for us, before being loaned to West Ham.

If we are to sign a left back, it means Gibbs is out.
I'm almost certain there'll be no right back coming in.

I just wanna point out here mate, I'm not deliberately trying to take the jam out of your donut here, because I'm starting feel like I'm being a bit harsh debating!

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 14:02:54
We need a world class RW and a world class CB and we are there.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 14:27:05
Monreal is fine for now, difficult to find a better one and can only think of Luke Shaw who was starting to show great promise prior to his leg break.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2016 15:52:47
Everyone is/ was screaming for a cdm and cfwd. One done, the other hopefully done. Now we add 2-3 more. I don't think we should unsettle pur squad unless we have to and a genuine upgrade or long-term prospect. I'm hoping for a cb but iawt. ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jun 2016 20:08:34
This is crazy, we needed to strengthen our spine first and foremost, we look to be doing that (which honestly surprises me) and now some of you are screaming to replace a player who in all seriousness was one of our better and consistent players last season!
Please list the games in which he had either a nightmare costing us points or just lacked desire?
Now anyone can tell you the games we lost because we couldn't score or Merts just couldn't keep up and the points we lost when our midfield disappeared in November and December was disastrous.
So in essence midfielder done, striker almost done and then I pray for a monsterous cb with pace ready to slot in straight away with Kos, I don't expect anything more than that and if you're all honest you'll admit that would be gravy anyway.
