Sexism is being brought to the forefront of footballs collective consciousness. Which I personally think is fantastic, the fact that there have been 25 sexist incidents without a single charge is disgraceful. We should treat gender and homophobic abuse as harshly as we treat racial abuse. Education has to be key to solving this issue, I myself came out as bisexual last spring and was treated excellently by my team mates, so I know we in football have it in us to really treat everyone equally

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - great stuff saint i applaud that mate, if only a couple of the premier league players came out things would improve immensely, like it or not these guys are role models, and it would help no end people who may be confused about their sexuality. as you say education is the key, and i can only imagine how hard it is for people in circumstances like yourself, so good luck fella..

05 Mar 2015 23:54:35
Well like I said, all my mates were fine about it, it's because firstly i'm a massive gooner, who loves a pint and that's my point, whether your gay, straight, lesbian, bloke, girl, muslim, athiest, anyone can be a football fan or be involved in football in whatever way they want. It's my business or your business what church you go to or what you do in you're bedroom all that matters is that you love football

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right mate..

Has their been any other high profile people coming out other than sol? He got pretty harsh abuse so that would probs put a lot of people off. Did u guys hear about the two Russian lesbian gymnasts who made out publicly in protest of Russia outrageous equality issues. Hope nothing bad happend to them once the attention went away. I worry that for the few who stand up can get such bad stuff it puts others off

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2015 02:20:35
Eden are you on about sol Campbell. He isn't gay as far as I'm aware lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats the problem D16, trying to put a label on people..

06 Mar 2015 08:34:20
Thomas hitzelburger came out after he retired I think, also arsenal played a big part with in the rainbow laces campaign which is was good to see

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Robbie Rodgers was the first to come out while still playing. I don't know why it is still seen as a big deal. I really couldn't care less what sexuality they are, it is how well they kick the ball that bothers me.}

06 Mar 2015 13:07:58
The rainbow laces were Defo a bright idea

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2015 13:44:15
When we say someone coming out isn't a big deal. And it isn't. But the chants would be there. It would die down I guess and he'd do we'll with sponsors. Would open up a new avenue tho. If he's let go would he use the gay card.

I'm sure we are not too far away from it happening.

I'd just like to say to Derby we all love you really mate and you carry on thinking the worlds richest 100 have given you all their money and trust mate.
After all
Dags thinks he's funny.
Ed025 thinks he's an Evertonian.
Banbury thinks he's Simon cowbell grevilhorwood and Marry Berry all in one.
But worst of all is poor old Steve who actually believes he's Steve, I just can't bring myself to burst that bubble.
You carry on Derby your in very good company mate :-)

{Ed025's Note - im beginning to wish i was not an evertonian G62..

Ed025,

Be warned lol.

Serious question about your boys.

Last season/This season.
W21 L8 S61 C39 P72.
W6. L12 S33 C41 P28.

Even if you win remaining 10 games, you would still have won 5 less than last season.

Even if you win remaining 10 games, you would have 14 points less than last season.

You have already conceded 2 goals more than whole of last season.

Sorry for grim post. Bit bored lol.

But seriously, you have pretty much same team as last season, probably better.

What's happening?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thanks for the info dags..NOT...we are in trouble dags, and its that fraud of a managers fault mate..

05 Mar 2015 23:11:21
Sorry Ed,

I did warn you :-)

I can't work Bill Kenwright out though.

I know he's not a 'hire and fire' type of Chairman but, as far as I know, he hasn't said much this season.

I'm all in favour of 'silent chairman/owners, but silence is not always a good thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i only want 3 words fom him dags...MARTINEZ YOUR OUT..

05 Mar 2015 23:13:13
Didn't a number of people want him to replace Wenger??

Hopefully those people don't live near wishing wells

The amazing thing is Ozil we're still can't find the ability to be confident of beating them Monday, mad isn't it!
We are such a better side than them but I think most of think its highly likely they'll do us like a kipper AGAIN :-(
Recently I've been very confident winning in games against them home and away but some how it never seems to happen

No Derby I'm telling you there actually is a guy that wants to buy more players than you, I know it's hard to believe but there truly is.

Don't take offence mate I'm only pulling ya leg.

The better stats are those that show Coquelin is head and shoulders the best DM in the premier league at the moment, Matic isn't even close. ;-)

05 Mar 2015 19:34:30
Its all about opinions lads, mine is Derby is forming an Army under the guise of a football team and is planning to invade Nottingham and make himself sheriff

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 19:53:36
I think Derby is confusing FFP rules.

He thinks it stands for Fifty Five Players, because that's how many players he has bought this month alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 16:38:23
Hard to speculate til we know what's happening with the likes of Theo (will he or won't he sign a new contract this summer?) etc., but it seems safe to assume that Diaby and Flamini are off this summer meanwhile Rosicky and Arteta aren't likely to get any more than another season. Wilshere and Rambo due to stay but each spend a chunk of next season on the sidelines, as per. Biggest loss could be Santi if he chooses to return to Spain. That said, he's getting older and there's always the chance that he's been playing so well to line up the potential suitors. If we bring in Schneiderlin with the $ that gets freed up, still wouldn't say no to a little more reinforcement in the middle of the park, specifically in the form of Cabaye... Anyone with me on that?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

05 Mar 2015 19:52:13
Cabaye has had a few injury issues this year. Alarm bells ringing we don't need any more patients:)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 21:17:24
Just bring in Schneids and I will be happy.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 11:58:31
We all know about the possible out's this summer, with Poldi, Campbell, Diaby, Flamini, and maybe some surprises with Caz possibly leaving us.

on the topic of players leaving, what is the current situation with Walcott and Wilshere?

I know jack's injured but he seems to be way down the pecking order, and i just don't see how or why we would keep him. if a decent offer comes our way i'm sure wenger will offload the player.

Walcott, has me stumped, does he not play as he can't defend? is he injured?

With Alexis and Ozil and Caz and even rosicky, welbeck and ox ofcourse being preferred to Walcott are his days numbered? or is this a ploy to raise his game?

We all know Schneiderlin is a target and i'm sure he is our no1 target, with a wide/forward player the only other possible outcome from the transfer window, if we do go ahead and buy one, what does that do for walcott?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

05 Mar 2015 13:13:45
And akpom and sanogo and welbz and Campbell?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 14:36:03
I really don't see Welbeck being sold, he has recently joined us, and adds depth and cover.

Walcott has a year to go on his contract. don't see us dragging this saga for another year, he does not sign and he is sold.

campbell possibly used as a makeweight in a deal for Vietto?

Not sure what will happen to Sanogo.

but with Flamini, Diaby coming off the books, will likely be replaced by Schneiderlin.

I would say Vietto or Dybala are the players we should target. but getting a player like Benzema/pedro is not a bad option, just don't see us having that much money..possibly 50mill including wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 17:29:09
We are in a very strange position - we actually have decent cover for a variety of positions.

I would imagine that Wenger would be looking at the defensive midfield area (with possible departures of Diaby and Flam) so there is Schneiderlin or Kondogbia from Monaco? Both, I think, would suit our team. Give Le Coq some company on the bigger games and allow the creative players to shoot forward.

I wouldn't mind Pedro coming in as he seems to be getting very little game time at Barca. He can play Right/Left Wing so would a very good acquisition considering we have lacked out and out wingers. Would also mean that we can stop putting players out there. Look what happened to Cazorla when we moved him back centrally!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 11:46:13
Is there a player in the world today that comes close to the pure class that bergkamp showed in an arsenal kit. Obviously messi is a better player, but in terms of doing everything with such beauty and class I can't think of anyone. I think özil probably comes the closest

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2015 13:18:27
i think Ozil works best with a forward who stretches the defense with his speed.

with giroud, the defense can sit back which makes ozil more into finding space, which in a compact defense is difficult.

if we had sanchez, ox and walcott up front with ozil behind, with the likes of schneiderlin and ramsey sitting behind the attack, a wonderful opportunity to counter at pace. but giroud gives us a dimension which is working at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 15:10:12
bergkamp was different class. that hatrick at Leicester. stil makes me smile

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 17:13:15
One player with similar style of play to him dare I say it ......Erikson.

But knowone comes close to bergy tbh, you don't see a player nowadays with the vision, touch and the way he curled a ball top bag day in day out....what a player

Absolute genius :)

I have mixed feelings in respect of Ospina. His handling and general goalkeeping is excellent, I am just concerned about his height or rather lack of it. It doesn't seem to affect him collect aerial balls, he seems exceptionally good at that, but when shots are placed into the top corners, his lack of reach becomes apparent. I far prefer him to Szczesny, who is a very immature keeper.

Let's just save a thought for ed025 today, poor bloke. We know what it's like to lose to those rugby playing grunts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - please don't, Everton have turned into a far better comedy act than Dags can even dream of. Sadly. Best to just not mention it, poor Ed025 needs lots of jokes to cheer him up rather than thoughts today. I never thought I would say this, but I actually feel sorry for him having kids that are Liverpool fans, they must be making his life unbearable!}

05 Mar 2015 10:42:43
you know ed, i have this feeling that everton will get their 34 points to stay in the league and then go on to win the europa league and get into the champions league. its not over till its over

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - oh I hope so, that would guarantee they hold onto Bobby M. If they can do that and LVG does enough to hold onto his job at United, that would be ideal. Both are a long term disaster in waiting.}

05 Mar 2015 15:21:31
well i don't really know how bad they actually are, they have been around for ages. if you get the right player you can always win.

if Manchester United buy hummels and pogba and whoever else they have money to throw at, it won't be long before the players just keep winning, i would say if you put Martinez in charge of barcelona or madrid, i'm quite sure he would be in the top 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 18:21:17
yeh that's why i hope they finish outside the top 4 laker so no matter how much money they have to throw at it top players will want to wait before joining. i did hear they have to be careful with their wages due to ffp, is that correct?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 08:06:40
It was interesting that last night playing deeper, Mertesacker looked far better. I have always felt that it is unfair to play him when we play a high line, as we did against Monaco. Even John Terry looked awful when AVB played a high line at Chelsea, we beat them at the bridge 5-3 and Terry made RVP look like an Olympic sprinter.
I am not a great fan of playing a high line, as at the top level quality teams exploit the space behind the defence and can cope defensively. Hence, why we have been so unsuccessful when playing this system in Europe.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2015 07:17:09
Quite honsestly to me gibbs has regressees rather than progressed. He seems as the most ineffective full back when it comes to attack. Upgrade in the summer and keep monreal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2015 08:01:36
Noooo. Keep Gibbs & replace Monreal with a more rapid option. However, I do feel sorry for Gibbs, as I recall watching him in the Emirates Cup, as a 17 year old and he played in midfield. He looked awesome and I must admit he has never looked a true defender.

Agree6 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 10:18:38
Yea he was actually a LM originally

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 12:37:24
I wouldn't sell Nacho. No way we will bring in a new LB just to replace him on the bench... unless he's young and inexperienced. It is Gibbs who I feel is the weaker, more so in defence than in attack

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Mar 2015 18:28:21
i think its a shame we haven't played him on the wing in big games for the added cover it would add could work really well, got to be better than ozil on the left!

Man U's Evans clearly spits and should be banned from Monday's match. Let's see if the FA have the guts to do the right thing,
Mind you, perhaps it's better of he plays!

Looks like falcao will never play again for Man utd.

Man utd will come out all physica at us, as they know our players are well small.

ozil can't be on the wing.

we need to go with Ramsey and Le Coq at the back.

with sanchez and OX on the wings with ozil in the middle.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 11:02:13
Apparently the FA are investigating the incident and if Evans is guilty he will get a 6 match ban & Cisse 7 matches. Both players would then miss playing against us. In Evans case, I doubt it will make United weaker, but the absence of Cisse against us, would weaken them.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 18:31:30
why would cisse get a game more?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 18:48:30
just seen that evans has denied doing anything, where as cisse has come out with quite an appropriate apology, suerly cisse should get less of a ban?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 18:55:32
kids should see that its wrong and both get banned, but that doing the right thing and appologizing results in less of a ban and lieing results in a harsher punishment, otherwise they will think its best to not own up

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2015 22:13:23
Cisse gets a 7 game ban because he was already suspended earlier in the season for his elbowing incident on Seamus Coleman

Good win. QPR had me worried for a bit. Good team performance in the 2nd half. Onwards and upwards you Gunners. I think Ospina should be number one for a long time to come. He ain't the tallest, but boy he can pull off miracle saves.

PS Also watched the Chelsea - Westham game (delayed). Jenkinson is fantastic. Wenger cannot let him go. Headaches (the good kind) for Arsene in that position

Coquelin played like a demon in the mask. I am so impressed with him in the defensive midfield role. Once he gains more confidence he will be awesome and save the club a fortune as we will only need one more defensive midfield player, opposed to two. We should break the bank and sign Schneiderlin.
