to all the people that big up sagna
( I am not one of them) it could be because of him that we miss out on 4th down to the 2 points he cost us at Manchester United

FACT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Vs man u I meant {Ed027's Note - Main poster if you think like that, then what about Arteta's penalty miss against Fulham?, what if Sagna decided to have a bad day against Sunderland?, what if Arteta missed all his other penalties?

Agree0 Disagree0

Balls to you sir. Don't single out Sagna for abuse or blame, when Arsenal have had yet another below par season, and that is what might cost us top 4. We have failed to break down teams such as Sunderland, Stoke, Villa, Norwich and Southampton in the 1st half of the season. Also failing to get wins against Chelsea, Everton, Man U and Man C will also cost us. No individual is to blame.

Sagna has had not one, but two broken legs in the past 18 months. Prior to that he had consistently been the best RB in the league and always reliable and solid. He is past it and errors are creeping into his game, but atleast respect a loyal servant over the past few years. I don't see you blaming Arteta for a missed pen vs Fulham that cost us 2 points? Or Koscielny when he recklessly got sent off vs City? Or Vermaelen cock up allowing V. Persie to score at OT? You could use anyone of these examples all may be just as costly as Sagnas mistake.

It's still looking good for us. There are still points to be dropped.

Detroit Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

That's right it's all Sagnas fault. Losing to Norwich away. Swansea at home. Draws against teams like Fulham Sunderland and stoke made no difference to our season did it!

I thought we were blaming wenger, then the board now sagna? jesus.

the way things have been going I would not be surprised if spurs beat chelsea. our last two games are not as easy as some think. wigan always come good this time of the season and remember they done us at home last year and newcastle on their day can beat anyone at their ground. if we end up fifth then it'll only be what we deserve I hate to say

to add insult to arsenal season,
bentdner has medal with juventus for the seria A title.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Really? I don't think so. Don't you have to play a min of 10 games for the club to receive a medal?
Waq

Agree0 Disagree0

He may receive a winners medal, but it will be a hollow achievement as his contribution was minimal. But knowing the dane as we all do. He'll probably believe Juve couldn't of won it without him.

after todays result there's every chance we may now finish 5th whatever are last 2 results are, can we really complain iff we do? spurs have generally looked a better side this season and have beaten the top sides where as we only have a home win over them when they had 10 men to are name, we have also struggled against many poor sides and failed to score against the likes of villa norwich and sunderland before we even mention the cup exit's!, even yesterday we were poor against a side there for the taking after the early goal. obviously I hope we do scrape in the top 4 but I don't think we deserve it, finishing 5th would be a huge blow but may finally convince the board to start matching other sides in terms of spending big and improving the squad for next season, iff we finish 4th I can see us just plodding on as we have been doing for years now and facing the same uphill struggle for a top 4 place next year. gooner wayne

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chelsea need that point Wed. Can't believe we are in this position.

Only good thing is how important third and automatic qualification is. Chelsea will def go for it, so at least we have that.

I was extremely disappointed with how we played from minute 2 to 90 yesterday.

When the season is on the line, you go for the kill instead of nursing a lead. Wigan and Newcastle would have made us pay. This post goal complacency began last year and has continued to this year and that's a huge problem folks.

We should have qualified by now, can't believe it's out of our hands. Arsenal should never be reliant on someone else's results

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So do we cheer for the Chelsea win against Spurs, knowing that it gives us some breathing room in our last two games (we would only need a draw and a win) or do we cheer for a draw and hope Chelsea screw up against Villa and Everton and we do the business against Wigan and Newcastle?

Obviously, I would prefer Arsenal to place 3rd, but maybe that is unrealistic now and at the end of the day the CL spot is all that matters; although, our targets may wait on qualification prior to deciding to join arsenal.

Thanks for nothing Manchester United and Man Citeh, although I agree had we beaten Utd or Everton we would not be in this mess.

Well, squaky bum time is nearly here - the CL place race looks like it will go to the last day!

Someone earlier said that the spurs v Chavs game is irrelevant but I think its the key - If spurs win all their remaining games and chelsea win 3 of their 4 then we finish 5th even if we win both ours!

We need Man United to beat chavs later today ( kicks off in a couple of hours as I type) and then it means we can afford for one of the chavs or spurs to win the game between them

I am still praying we get 3rd as this guarantees CL football next year. 4th only gives us play off and those qualifiers aren't as easy as they used to be. Also being in a qualifier will deter top drawer players as they will probably have alternative offers from CL qualified teams!

Also the run ins for us, chavs and spurs have their potential pitfalls-

Us, ok we don't deserve CL football if we can't win our remaining games but both Wigan and Newcastle have relegation fears and will fight.

Chavs - have ManU, spurs and Everton so 3 difficult games plus the Europa final. They will drop points

Spuds - have chavs, also sunderland have to fight to make themselves safe from relegation and stoke is never a nice place to go

Gonna be tight so hold on to your hats and support the Arsenal in every way you can

COYG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've been saying for a while it will be Chelsea that will miss out and I still think they will, if they lose today a nice nil nil in the week would be lovely.

He's picked a shadow team so I fear a chav win having read that!

Chavs win today means they lose to spurs but win the other two and we can't catch them, spurs win their last 3 and we can't catch them either!

Still fingers crossed and chavs have an off day!

arsenal really need to spend this is a huge wake up call that everyone is wanting the cl spot liverpool, everton, chelsea, spurs, utd, city and some others. its not easy as these teams are spending and are getting better.

in goal if we could get adler or cassilas it would be a great but and for me I would be extreamly happy for any to join us.

cb is needed as back up or even to take a place from merte or kos but I can not thunk of anyone right now.

same as rb sagna is slowley going down hil and is wanting a move I still can't think of a replacement. but jenko could fit tho.

cdm- wanyama or gonalons would be great for arsenal.

now striker is remy its a steal at 6m let's get.

Regarding Remy rumours, I think at 6 million that would be a steal. He is an improvement on Giroud in my opinion and with our style of play, playing the ball into at the strikers feet and quick counter attacks I really think he could be lethal for us. I know obviously Lewandowski, Higuan, Jovetic are better but I cannot see Wenger spending £25m+ on a player ever. Remy should settle right in after 6 months in the PL.

Cant believe some people here. You criticise people for wanting Podolski to play upfront and now that he's play 2 bad games you want him sold! Do my eyes deceive me! After giroud had about 5 abysmal games upfront you were first to defend him and claimed to give him a chance, but when Podolski, who let's remember is carrying a very painful ankle injury you want to get rid of him. I still believe he is twice the player of giroud, although we lack Podolski's presence down the wing as he has a peach of a ball and that's where he thrives. But for now we should continue to play him down the middle as when given the chance infront of goal, which in all fairness he hasn't of late, he's prolific. Just look at a fully fit Poldi strike, montpellier anyone?! Athough, next season when we buy a top notch out and out striker, we should move poldi out on the wing. As for the people who disagree with me, hypocrites, hypocrites the lot of ya!

CheetahChaz97

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The names of the hypocrites would help. I for one never rated Podolski up top on his own. but I wouldn't sell him. he's still better then Gervinho even with his injury.
Its also 3 bad games up top. Sunderland beginning of year aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

It's almost like we have to have players to moan about - Rambo springs to mind.

Pod will be quality. He is lethal in front of goal and has linked well with Giroud. He would have played more if not injured. PLUS every player needs to be fit and have a run of games to get up to speed. Also, remember we are playing more defensive of late so tricky for the strikers.

What you going to do next moan about Jack as he is below par? Get off their backs and support them.

The players are wearing the shirt with pride and working hard.

People were also slagging off Arteta and Rambo against QPR. They helped keep the clean sheet and both involved directly in the goal. We moaned Song never defended, now we moan these guys don't run up the pitch. Are more disciplined now - is that not what you asked of AW.

Some say let's get the chosen one as AW is clueless. Well that game against QPR was exactly how the chosen one would set us up. For me it's AW all day long, give him the cash and then WE the fans get behind the team as it is a powerful thing to have the crowd behind you. Ask the pros. Ask the away fans.

I thought that if we won all our remaining games we would be gaurenteed a top for spot?
Just studying the table though and if Chelsea lose to spurs but win all their other games and spurs win all theirs, they will both end up a point above us!
Come on utd sort us out, we did help you with the title

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Obviously I want utd to do us a favour, but even if chavski lose I still see them getting 3rd. I just don't see spurs winning at Stamford bridge. They are fragile at the back, and the likes of Mata, Oscar and Hazard etc are too good for them.
I'm less concerned about the scenario you mentioned, and more concerned with us beating wigan to be honest.

How much would Higuain go for?

Who do you rate highier out of Jovetic and Higuain?

See where I'm going with this?
Dandan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I imagine you want us to all say "oooh Higuain is so much better let's buy him!"?

Unfortunately though I won't. Jovetic is a vastly better player and prospect IMO. Higuain takes 5 shots to score a goal. Jovetic is the sort of striker who can do a lot more.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like him, but a majority on here will judge him on his last 90 mins, so if he scored a hat trick then insert best player in the world to every answer, but if he missed a sitter then expect answers like, no better than Bendtner, we should sign Vela as he is better, and the obvious sack Wenger!
Most will say Jovetic and have never seen him kick a ball.

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

Based on what 1404? How often do you watch Higuain? I watch Serie A and La Liga so I see both regularly.

Agree0 Disagree0

To say Jovetic is better is shocking considering Jovetic hasn't played top level football an would be a massive gamble plus his 23 Higuain is 25 not no different age wise {Ed027's Note - Top level football, are you taking the piss?

Agree0 Disagree0

1404 the answer for everything. but never the correct answer

Agree0 Disagree0

I watch Barca and Madrid games quite often buy not the rest of the league and although Higuain does some times seem the weak link in the Madrid attack I think he's a good player with great movement, but anyone in a line up with Ronaldo, Di Maria, Ozil and Benzema has a task anyway

I don't watch the Italian league so that's why I don't rate Jovetic

Dan dan

Agree0 Disagree0

I also watch a lot of la liga and serie a, and for people to think higuain is as good as he used to be are mistaken. he has started lots of games this season, especially the big games and has flopped on many occasion. I remember few seasons ago, he was an amazing goal scorer, left foot, right foot, heading he was the falcoa of that time. but now he seems to have lost it.
Jovetic might not be a clinical goals scorer but has great ability on the ball, and make things happen out of nothin. at this moment i'd say jovetic is better then higuain simply he influences more games.
and if you think jovetic is in an easier league is bs. in la liga if you play for madrid or barce then the only teams you might struggle against is at madrid and valencia the rest are average.
where as jovetic is playin for fiorentina, meaning he plays against much stronger teams in milan, inter, juve, napoli, udinese, roma

are we still the best team for youth players with talent come to to develop?

on the same note, who would you have wanted recently in the past 2-3 windows in terms of youth talent? if it weren't for stupidly high wages/transfer fees

PdotY

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jones/ varane
Lucas moura
Thiago (Barca boy)
El Shaawarey (spelling, ac Milan player)
Pogba

Dandan

Agree0 Disagree0

Varane went to Madrid for £7m. How we missed him is beyond me. Grimandi admitted he'd hesitated. He will be the best cb in the world in a few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are one of the best for developing youth but Dortmund are the best.

There are dozens I could choose but obviously excluding Neymar, Goetze.

Courtois, Azipillicueta, Varane, Juan Jesus (Inter), De Sciglio (AC Milan), Pogba, Eriksen, Isco, Lamela, Niang, El Sharway.

That's a XI that would be beast in 2-3 years. But remember Wilshere and Ox will be 2 of the best while Szezsncy, Jenkinson, Ramsey etc will be very good.

Detroit Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Are we really the best at developing youth? So many of our great youth players just don't seem to mature into the players we initially think they will be.
Sanchez watt is still going out on loan every year and he is 57 years old now.

1404

Agree0 Disagree0

1404 I think our record is better than most clubs,
overall how many players have we had that we've sold on and have either remained successful or play in top tier football?
(I hope it's better than most clubs, seeing as we're a main youth set up haha)

PdotY

Agree0 Disagree0

Also does anyone think that they're be an influx of Germany youth/talent coming through for us?
Wenger always seems to be ahead of the curve, and i'm hoping i'm right when I say that he bought german internationals to integrate with our germany talent ; Eisfeld/Gnabry, also would have been a coup if we had ACTUALLY bought Gotze,
We'd have some of the best german players in the world on our team

players we need to shed in the summer - what's everyones personal thoughts? personally.

sczeszny - not good enuf
sagna - erratic, ageing (may have cost us champs league place with that tackle!)
vermaelen - sliding downhill fast!
arteta-great passer, too slow, can't tackle, ageing
ramsey-not good enuf
gervinho - a complete joke!
podolski - him and giroud can't play together
diaby - an absolute waste of time
all reserves - don't get me started here!

we need a complete makeover!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, just no.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would keep Szczesny. Still young enough to become a top class keeper. But needs competition from an already top class experienced keeper. Far too early to despose of Szcz.
Arteta, Ramsey I would keep. Why wouldn't you want an Arteta on the bench. And Ramsey is finally being played in his favourite position in the middle. Add to that he's in a good place physically (broken leg) and mentally (death of his national coach who made him captain) I think the lad deserves at least another year.
Sagna and Vermaelan, if you replace them with quality then I'll agree.
Gervinio out.
If we get an offer that means we make a decent profit on Pod then I would sell. Better options out there for us.
The list of who we keep is a lot shorter then who we should let go. Good debate. :-)
Flybo

Agree0 Disagree0

I make you pretty spot on.
I can't see the point in having both Arteta and Ramsey next year. Neithre should be guaranteed starters. just one for cover in my opinion - I'd go for Rambo as he's getting better, is younger and homegrown - he's also in my opinion becoming a better player than Arteta and the last 6 or 7 games has been our most consistant performer.
Its a similar story upfront - neither Podolski or Giroud are good enough to lead the line - and Podolski is not cut out for a wide position in this league. Somethign needs to be done in this area of the pitch.
If Galatasary want Podolski I would let them have him - for 12m we've not lost anything and we can reinvest in someone more suited.

I'd love to see Benteke come in up front -he looks the real deal. and mybe Shaqiri from Bayern who is brilliant but not playing games. both could really do the business for us in my opinion.

AG

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with some not all

Ramsey has come on leaps aNd bounds recently And just because he had a bad game yesterday shouldn't be judged

Sagna head is gone, we need an experienced GK, TV 5 has fAllen into a pit and can't get out! What I don't get if we were after vertonghen for the petit role why can't that be revisited with TV5?
Arteta I love but he's not a DM he is slow and doesn't have the defensive brain of say Carrick

Beginning of the season podolski Giroud and Walcott made a killer front three so I don't know where that came from, obvious podolski can't play ST as he can not hold play up my worry is he's turning into Arshavin slightly and just doesn't look bothered, Gervinho well that's enough said
