Really solid performance by the ref today. Not often we say this but then again there were several moments today that had us thinking one thing while watching it on TV, before the replay helped us catch up and realise what had actually happened. The ref clearly had his positioning spot on and did exceptionally well to get so many of those calls right -
especially with the sun in his eyes for half the game.
Wherever he is, he should take a bow.

Are you serious? He was wildly inconsistent all night. Penalty for Willian, ref books him for diving. Pedro gets a red for a tackle on the ankle with studs showing, yet Bellerin gets a yellow when he does the same on Alonso. Alonso gets a yellow for obstructing Bellerin, yet Bellerin doesn't get a 2nd yellow when he does the same on Azpi.

Jackson - worry about your own players staying upright. Rules have changed this season which will hurt you as you have a few divers plus Champ league. You were no bodies before for oil money and nobodies once it goes - enjoy your ill gotten gains 😉 interesting season for you guys as now teams have more spending power.

Meant to say this in the earlier post. The new signing lacazette does not fill me with confidence going into the new season as our main striker. Obviously the lad deserves a chance, will need a while to settle in and has an decent record in France. However I wonder why we haven't moved for him before this window, maybe Wenger thinks only now is he ready for the step up to the premier league. Personally from what I've seen of him he is neither one thing nor the other, in that he isn't a striker of the number 9 Giroud type mold nor is his quick and will play on the last man.

I think Arsene has wanted him for a while, let's see how he's doing by November one way or the other before we can form any real opioin of him in an Arsenal shirt.
He may get off to a flying start and fade or have a slow August early September then bloom but I reckon by November we will have had a decent look at hin.

People are way too soon to judge players these days. By November? Il give him til November next season.

Some may say that's too long to wait, but players take time to settle, koscielney I recall was awful in his first season with us. Look at him now. One rough season or even start doesn't make him a bad player. Trust your teams manager, coaches, scouts and players!

Xhaka is improving in our team game by game.

Let's get behind the team, support them fully until May. If we're not were we should be then, then you can judge!

By no means am I saying Lacazette is a bad player. And I'm not in the a Wenger out brigade. I just don't know if he is the player who will score the goals to win us the league.

Picking up Kolasinac on a free will turn out to be the best bit of business done this summer, for his versatility alone. He is clearly competent as the left sided centre half in a 3 at the back, and can also fit in at left wing back and full back should we revert to a 4. In today's marketplace you'd be hard pushed to find a player of his quality and age for under 20 million.

Well done on winning the mighty treble R. G. charity shield, emirates cup and Asia cup lol and you are celebrating. While I was watching spurs give the mighty juventus the runaround yesterday and we haven't spent a penny because we have the best 11 in the league. You wasted 40 million in kacazzette while we have the golden boot boy, what are you going to do on Thursday nights R. G. watch Arsenal or Eastenders lol while we are mixing it with Madrid and Barcelona while the biggest club ground in London is being built, mind that huge gap sweet cheeks and send my love to that gorgeous wife of yours.

Raver - you need more than 11 piayers to win the league. Once you've been at the big table long enough - you will realise that. We have had a great starting 11 over the past 15 years but it's the squad that counts when you are playing Champ League and competing. I speak from experience - look what we have done over the prior 15.

I am not saying we've had the best 11 for all 15 years by the way but we've had some excellent starting 11s but rarely fielded them.

So far a very quiet window for us. None of the players with a year left on their contracts have been dealt with. We have signed two players, but one of them, Kolasinac was agreed well before the window opened. We have sold two players, Szczesny and Hinds.
With approx 25 days till the window closes we need to sell/ release:
Debuchy, Jenkinson, Gibbs, Campbell and Lucas (although I would have kept Lucas) .
We need to sort out the contracts of Ox, Ozil, Sanchez and decide what to do with Wilshere ( I would see if he can replace Cazorla, who is reportedly out for much of next season) . If we keep the players on short contracts, I would then like to see us sign at least one more player, possibly Lemar. If he were signed then we should sell Lucas as I can't see him playing and we could recoup some funds.
Chambers is another enigma, although with Gabriel not fit to start the season, I would be tempted to keep him until January and see if he has improved sufficiently. Despite my earlier comment regarding Wilshere, he may never recover the form he showed earlier in his career and his displays at Bournemouth last season were very average.

Today's result and performance will have a fair bit of away on what happens over the next or so in my opinion.
Beat Chelsea and Arsene will be happy happy happy with his squad draw and he will be content but a poor result and performance with our obvious weaknesses exposed will have the same effect as the opening day defeat to Liverpool last season and we will see much more urgency in our transfer activity.
Personally I think Xhaka and Ramsey are going into this season what Chambers and Holding were on opening day last season.
