Lots of chat about Shezza having a fag in the showers after the Southampton game.any truth

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Seems to be some truth, excuse the pun but 'no smoke without fire'.

Apparently he will be fined £20k and lose his place, explains the rumours of a new keeper being scouted.

Sincerely hope it's not true

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly I'm not bothed if he's gay or not aslong as he handles the footballs OK I'm not fussed

Agree0 Disagree0

Some papers reporting that he expects to get his place back for the weekend. Regardless of the cigarette thing he should be dropped and ospina needs a chance to stake a claim.

Agree0 Disagree0

Joke there by me. risky one but I went with it .

Agree0 Disagree0

'Having a fag in the showers'. I'll give you that one Derby, tickled me :')

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol derby :-)

To be fair Rooster mate I was a big fan of ORVILLE mertesacker before the Stoke game dispite him being poor all season and I honestly expected some kind of explanation of his actions at Stoke like a head injury or something but nothing came.
I felt betrayed by him after that and then for it to happen again at Liverpool that was it 100% for me personally I don't like seeing him wearing our shirt now as it obviously means nothing to him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry this was ment to be part of the thread below, been long day oooops

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the big man would be better off finishing his career in Germany

Agree0 Disagree0

You can think he's a dreadful player fair enough but there's no way anyone can say that Arsenal means nothing to him. It has been revealed that Mertesacker goes round collecting fines and debts off players as well as having a go at them for things like being late to training. I know that doesn't mean much but still, I do like to think his heart is in it and although I don't know, I'm sure he's a great influence to the team off the pitch.

In fact, do you not remember him screaming at Ozil (his fellow countryman) on live television for not applauding the fans and having the wrong attitude after a certain match? I'm not defending his performances this season at all - or the duck but he is Arsenal through and through I reckon.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest Perfect the Ozil incident at city made him a hero to me like many others which is why his action's at Stoke and Liverpool are so baffling and hypocritical, one rule for Ozil another for Orville it seems.
Not applauding the fans in front of watching millions was disrespectful but I'm not sure there's a word bad enough for blatantly shirking your responsibilities in from those same fans and watching millions TWICE

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I say, I'm not trying to say he's a good player just that I don't question his loyalties g62

Went to a really emotional wedding the other day, even the cake was in tiers

Just can't believe some people already complaining about our transfer business, after the window has been open 4 days and we knew that we are unlikely to have much business anyway.

Going back to the Podolksi deal. I don't understand why people are questioning it. We had to get rid of someone to free up some wage room and other than his fantastic striking ability he offers nothing else. This has been done to death as well, and people have agreed with it yet still protest it. After he left cologne his coach said "He got praised as a great runner if he ever got back to defend three times in a game." He has always been too lazy to work in this system, or any system for that matter, and the Hull game was testament to that. For example, when the Ox came on he travelled all the way back to full back and put in a great tackle, the likes of which you would never see from Podolski.

Saying that I bet he comes off the bench against Juve tonight and scores a wonder goal!

I also think Joel Campbell isn't as bad as everyone made out, yeah he missed a few chances against hull but so did theo and he has played barely more than him. He used the ball reasonably well and had a very high work rate plus tracked back. For me I prefer to have him than Podolski.

P.S Cazorla I think he has been outstanding recently and obviously Sanchez has been world class.

Here's to a hopeful Winston Reid purchase, 4th spot, quarters of champions league, and an extremely unlikely FA Cup repeat.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah I rate Campbell too. Like you say, anybody who hasn't played for that kind of time will be rusty, training isn't the same - there's no replication of an actual match in front of tens of thousands, particularly when you don't know how many more chances you'll get to impress the manager.

For his first chance in the opening minutes, everything was excellent but the finish. He and Sanchez just cut through the defence in a matter of seconds with one great move and then the pressure was really on once he was 1v1 with the keeper. I for one hope he gets more chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post Henry, nice positive and most important I agree. Campbell was strong in the tackle which was a surprise - could be a solid squad player for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

TPG

I understand what you are saying but the bloke had 2 shots from 18 yards out. . one indise the box if I recall, how wide did they go . left footed . . . .hypothetical but my betting is on LP left foot they would have hit the target, all history now . But Campbell for me anyway certainly wouldn't grab us a couple of goals when needed .

Your comment about it was all perfect but for the finish??? That says it all, they practise finishing every day, that technic is there, match fitness isn't .

Time will tell of course but I don't see him getting the minutes on the pitch to get him as good as some want him to be, he is along way down the order. .IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

You said it Banbury, he might not get the time on the pitch but I'm sure he could be a good player if he does.

I don't understand your point about them practicing finishing every day? I'm sure most clubs and players do - I can score some worldie's in training. Plenty of players have to train, exercise and eat well every single day but quite a few of them lack fitness.

And I don't think my comment said it all. Although we are famous for our attacking play, I haven't seen a sudden injection of pace, cutting in from the wing directly running at defenders and one touch football outside the box like that in a a few games now (and the finish wasn't wide just tame). That sounds like I'm saying our attacking play is generally bad at the moment but what I mean is that the style of that attack was just slightly different and refreshing.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 22:22:13
Whilst without game time it's always difficult to judge, most would say the two good chances Theo fluffed were due to match sharpness rather than technical ability.

Campbell certainly looks to have more of an all round game than Podolski and has shown in games pre Arsenal that his left foot isn't that bad when it comes to shooting.

With saNOGOAL going pods gone and now campell looks set to leave surly we need a forward player too

Red Rooster hope you don't think I've DUCKED your question why I don't give Mertesacker more credit from earlier as I've just got home.
The fact that Charlie DRAKE would be braver in the air than him prevents me feeling able to praise him and because of his crouching tiger routine at both Liverpool and Stoke we have a 4pt reDUCTion in our points total.
As Chris WADDLE said after the Stoke game a man that size shouldn't be doing that let's see how he resPONDS and we did in exactly the same way in the very next away game.
Personally he's drove me QUACKERS and I'd love to see him gone in the January window

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair enough. We all have long memories, but nice to remember the good stuff too. He has been our only healthy CB this year and I fear we would be way worse without him. For me, I would like to see us get a world class CB that can play both sides and have Merts as a third choice, likely to stay healthy and better than plugging in Monreal and Debuchy when there are injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

It must be an Arsenal thing, remember Nasri getting slated for ducking from RVP's shot in a City vs United game? Or Adebayor dodging the ball with Paulinho when they were in a wall during a free kick? Crazy.

I know it will never happen but think arsenal should go all out for Lionel messi he would be great up front with his pal Sanchez imagine that we can dream I suppose we could offer money plus wenger ha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sadly, I think he is more likely to join his boyhood pal Fabregas… ;-((

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame we didn't bring Cesc home in the summer when we had the chance, we'd have twice the chance of him coming to join both his mates at Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Sanchez left because of messi. Chelsea sign messi is most likely would kill hazard.

Man City apparently in advanced talks with Wilfried Bony for 30mil ssn reports.

I don't get that, they have 3 strikers who are all potentially better than him. Yes Aguero and Dzeko are injured, but Bony is going to the ACON, so if it was for cover it doesn't really make any sense.

Maybe they are going to offload Jovetic or something. But otherwise they will have 4 quality strikers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think you are on the wrong page.}

06 Jan 2015 16:32:49
I can't believe you mentioned it, I was going to say nothing, Derby Gooner will go mental! ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 16:45:10
That's where having super deep pockets really helps!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is far from as simple as that.}

Haha red dog just seen the news. He will score goals for fun there. Jovetic wil most likely leave In the summer.

Well done man city good signing. The fact he won't play for few weeks is odd time to sign

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 17:14:22
Sorry Derby, couldn't resist. Both he and Benteke are far from rubbish but I really don't believe Wenger is even looking for a striker. Unfortunately.

He will need to get game time and is a replacement for Negredo who will be moved on permanently now I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel they must be offloading someone, surely they have to be careful with finances now?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sinclair will go. Probably the Italian defender too maybe. He will take dzeko play and form a great partnership with aguero. Put it in the box he normally scores

Red dog Wenger won't sign a striker and it pains me. The welbeck signing has set us back :(

Wanyama for now and I'll be happy mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Derby would you take Wanyama (who we could have had on the cheap from Celtic, ouch ouch ouch) in January or live with le coq and go get Schneids in the summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama all day red. I'd take van dijk also.

Agree0 Disagree0

Those would be nice pick up to be sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 10:24:14
Realistically what DM and CB would you like? there seems to be a shortage of top quality defenders in Europe and to be honest we won't compete with the Bigger spenders for Hummels or Varane?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just want a Makelele type of DM. Someone who doesn't do anything too flashy but sits in front of the defence, breaking opposition's attacks and someone who can distribute the ball well and let our more forward thinking players take it from there.

I am a fan of box to box midfielders but in our system I think we need a a consistent, old fashioned DM - someone for Coquelin to be understudy to because he's becoming that sort of player.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 11:25:52
We are more than capable of buying Varane and paying suitable wages be it now or in the summer.

Surely we are done with this buying low end market garbage like Andre Santos.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thepefectgoal. wanyama is that man

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 13:24:22
It's true we should be looking at and can afford the up and coming CB's such as Varane. Wenger has managed to get Ozil and Sanchez here so attracting a quality CB should also be a possibility.

I watched Coquelin specifically against Hull as after the last game some were saying he was good others said he was poor.

Apart from that somewhat out of the blue lunge towards the end he didn't do badly by any stretch, the best thing was watching to see how far forward he went when we attacked and I didn't see him going that far beyond the halfway line and allowing the attackers to do their thing, which was really good to see.

With him it will be a run of games to know for sure, some short passing slightly wayward and not the toughest of opposition but who knows.

What we really want to see though in reality is Wenger just go and buy the real thing and watch Coquelin become a great back up for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Derby, I was going to write a few possible examples and Wanyama would have been one of them. I have to agree with you, he would improve our team.

What's going on with Gnabry? Hope this injury doesn't affect his development severely as I believe he is an exceptional talent.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 10:13:30
He was in the training photos last week with the first team along with Ozil so he can't be far away from a return.

With attacking players available they are at least not rushing everyone back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love the guy

Agree0 Disagree0

It's good to hear Red Dog. I saw the injury table, it says no return date so I got worried :D I think when he comes back a loan would be a good option. He could be a starter for a lot of premier league clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 08:38:51
Never seen this Perrin fellow play. I just hope he is a nasty fellow who likes to punch opposition strikers for no reason. We need one of those in our team :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He seems decent, he could be the next koscielny?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes older than kos lol

Agree0 Disagree0

N'Koulou is worth a shout. big solid defener quick also.

Please not another underwhelming player, on his way to us, reggie bloody perrin. Please make it another crap rumour.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't get the pessimism about signing Reggie, I wish we're signed him in August.
Its an attemt to right a wrong even if he's not Hummel's.
How will be worse off with him?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get the pessimism about signing Reggie, I wish we're signed him in August.
Its an attemt to right a wrong even if he's not Hummel's.
How will be worse off with him?

Agree0 Disagree0

In principle I agree G62, but the issue is that if we but him we won't get another CB now or in summer, and we could do with someone very good.

I also have a horrible feeling whenever we get French players hitting their 30's. will it be another squillaci?

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comment Oleg but I'm not sure we can wait until the summer mate, Kos ain't right and Merts ain't that interested imo.
We do need to act now on both DM and CB and if it can't be Pogba and Hummel's then we have to accept the best we can get

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want him. sign reid or van dijk instead

Agree0 Disagree0

Or maybe he could be another koscielny? Remember he was a nobody too!

Agree0 Disagree0

We should go all out for varane. the guys class. still only 21. amazing player and top talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner, why do you say Merts is not that interested he got a nice goal with his nose on the weekend and helped keep a clean sheet, do we ever give these guys any credit?

Agree0 Disagree0

Derby Gooner, if he leaves Madrid I'm almost certain it would only be to us. Jose loves him, he loves Jose.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aron I think your right mate. what a player

Agree0 Disagree0

Also aron loftus cheek looks one hell of a player.

A question to Ed002, I gather were in preliminary talks with St.Ettiene over Perrin but besides from him is there any news of us being interested in anyone else, for example cavani?cheers keep up the good work!
