I Like How People insinuate that Wenger is somehow inept and clueless, he doesn't try new things. Yes the man has his faults and shortcomings but he is a damn good manager and is widely respected across the football world.

The man who doesn't try anything new has successfully turned Alexis into a striker, am ready for those who will say it was luck or it's down to Alexis commitment. people urge us to be more defensive away to the big sides, yet they lose their minds when we actually try that.

Not here to debate Wenger but giving him any credit for Sanchez is a laugh. He could play anywhere he wants except maybe CB or keeper and be top 2-3 in the EPL.

In fact the more I see his distribution I think he would be probable the second best 10 in the league but we already have #1.

CMP - he does try things, changes tactics etc but he has his shortcomings as you and most reasonable people state. His style - players are responsible for their actions and need intelligence - works exceedingly well for attack and creative minded players but suffers defensively. Our defensive coach should support and help here.

See I can see where both sides of this debate are coming from. And I do agree to an extent a lot of our fans make it sound like wenger is poor. That I don't see why because he is far from that. He is still a highly respected world class manager. Regardless of the nonsense people come out with

If Arsene mk 1 had left at the end of the invincibles season and Arssne mk 2 had taken over from him in the summer of 2004 would Arsene mk 2 still be in the job today?
Surely that and do Arsenal football club have the capabilities to seriously compete with the likes of Liverpool Leicester Chelsea Man city and Utd for premier league titles (not necessarily win but compete for into May) are the real questions.
Arsene is obviously a good manager because no bad manager could consistently deliver top 4 finishes season after season without fail but by the same token it could any manager be considered a top manager after 14 yeaes without getting even close to winning a title?

Leicester - fluke and one off. Lots of conspiracy stories on these guys in terms of refs being biased. Expro tipped me off on that. Not jealous just an expro telling me stuff and articles on line questioning Leicester and some big bets.

City / Chelsea -> unlimited funding

What have Liverpool ever done in the premiership?

Outside of the endless money team's - who else has always delivered top 4 over past 10 years. Add to that 2 FA cups

The. Club need to get serious and spend money and set high expectations -> then once everything is equal then hold him accountable. He had a top 4 budget and delivers top 4.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed025's Note - i like arsene SY but i believe that over the past couple of years he has had an unlimited budget mate, but has chosen not to utilise it..

06 Jan 2017 23:43:24
Ha ha, being playing striker for Chile for years, can't give that to wenger

06 Jan 2017 23:53:58
Sy there is just no words to reply to that, except, you must be over doing it. Lie down and have a long sleep.

Leicester a fix :-) brilliant SY mate beats the naughty stadium and champions league excuses hands down :-)
Liverpool punched way above their wiegh 3 seasons back and put in a sustained challange as we fell away yet again, it can be argued they then fell away again which is very true but Klopp has in under a year got them back above us by spending a fraction of what we spent.

What is Klopp doing that Arsene isn't that makes it so easy for him to overtake us in a year dispite taking on a weaker squad and spending less money?

Leicester was a one off but it wasn't a fluke. And CMP if you like the fact what's the problem?

Ed - evening!
Would you say unlimited budget like City and Chelsea have or just a pretty big budget compared to the rest?
I don't see huge cash reserve increases each year on the balance sheet and as a business our p&l isn't great from a footballing perspective. Based on the Deloittes report, we need to improve our "other revenue"
For a number a years - we had to sell
Recently - I agree as budgets are bigger but the gap in squad quality because of the above was bigger.
Chelsea and City can spend 150m every summer - can Arsenal?
Just banter πŸ˜‰

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - i believe they can SY, once the stadium was done and dusted payment wise arsene was given free reign on spending and did splash out on a couple of worldies in sanchez and ozil, since then there have been a couple of bigish deals but nothing compared to their rivals, i believe its down to the ethos of the manager who is renowned for bringing young talent through which may have come back to bite him in the arse, i have never heard that there has been a curb on spending since the emirates was paid for mate..

07 Jan 2017 08:27:07
Arsene is a good manager and done greats at arsenal, its great that he sticks to his guns, but there's absolutely nothing wrong to change you system and formations when you realise that other teams are reading you game like a child book. Moving one player from one position to other that's not wonders mate.
Most of us fans are stuck in what's called the comfort top 4 zone and they are satisfied but what happen to the club ambitions. It tooks years to find a proper DM and other while to find a proper partnership to Koscielny. And soon we will be losing santi which without our team seems to go missing in the middle of the park. I rate Xkaka but he's no near our little magician.
Yes he bought 2 world class players in the last 4 years, but with the way we player which I seriously love we don't have enough top players.
This has all to go down to the manager.

62 - they have only put a challenge in once and I believe they were out of Europe that year - are they in this year? They have done nothing yet this season and Klopp has also shown his ignorance as well as doing a good job.

Leicester - where are they this Year and year before?

Ed - thank you for the info and response. I agree with you but not convinced that we have the funds to blow 200m per year as our financials wouldn't support that. I do believe purse strings are relaxed as shown on previous years and I agree that Wenger is still a bit tight.

Steve - note my mom rose tinted comments on Wenger and go look how much City, Utd and Chelsea have spent over the last 10 years and let me know. How's your heroe Pep Doing? His tactics against us - I let the players sort it out at half time.

So we all agree we miss Santi right now. He seems to make us tick for me. Although we should be coping without him it doesn't appear to be happening. Which leads me to a question. If we miss him so much and he's a vital player in our side. Then why are we letting him go this summer? His contract is nearly up and as the sharkopod said he may leave in the summer. I can't understand why

D we are missing santi but not as much as we are missing seaman cole adams keown vierra petit pirez bergy henry and wright. On a more serious note santi is a miss but not a cure.
